I did not think your videos could get any better but you have proved me wrong in the nicest possible way. I thoroughtly enjoyed today's episode which is an absolute delight for all the senses. When I think of the UK I think of these idyllic villages and charming scenery. Thank goodness for the love of the preservation of the past. And - thank goodness for not seeing grafitti, weeds and rubbish. I love how the British people take so much pride in their townships and the environment. A big thank you! xx

Full marks to any of the preservation organisations in the yorkshire area to preserving and keeping these amazing villages from a time past intact, and no starbucks, mcdonalds or boots in sight, all individual buisnesses....and thanks to maison-parfaite for bringing this area to your attention....great move on their behalf and well done to you for a fantastic video showcasing this area in the most excellent way

I was evacuated to Pateley in 1943 and left in 1946. It was a lovely place then and still is. I recall attending both the school on the hill and St Cuthbert’s church at the top of the hill. The towns museum is well worth visiting and has a host of memorabilia. The local walks are a must such as the Two Stoops and nearby Brimham Rocks. I have been back to Pateley many times and it still retains its old world charm. I live just an hours drive from that lovely place.

Daffodils, cats, stone cottages with gothic roof ornaments, historic plaques, chocolate shops, splendid looking pies, Bronte Country views...what a hidden gem! One should bring an empty rucksack to carry purchases from all those charming shops. It was a joy to see so many buildings and artifacts, so well preserved. You really outdid yourselves this time, with the old photos and quality mentions of the many interesting things to see and do in this place. I'd be quite nervous to ride a bike on those roads! It was a bit of a jolt to see your modern hotel suite amidst so much history, but I'm sure you were glad not to haul coal upstairs to heat your bath water, lol! See you next time! ;)

Just wanted to say 'thank you' for making this video. This was a HUGE help for us, visiting from the US! My wife and I decided to visit Pateley Bridge the end of last year (sept 2023), in no small part, due to this video. We rented a car from Enterprise, over in Harrogate, and stayed in this little village for a week. It was quite easy to drive around and take in some English countryside, while also visiting a few nearby sites, like Fountains Abbey and Brigham Rocks (definitely recommended). The views from the apartment we rented (Nydsley Hall), were unimaginably beautiful and perfectly located! Driving on the other side of the road was a new experience, but we quickly adapted (yeah, it's not as hard people suggested). A few suggestions during your visit, 1. get some Italian food from Olley's, 2. patronize the Royal Oak (tavern) and 3. visit the Nidderdale Museum... This was a GREAT experience and well worth our time. Thanks again MemorySeekers!

I agree… Your videos get better and better. It’s been a long time since you’ve posted one and I literally watch every day. I just let them run and run over and over again. Please post more! I would love to see a new one every week… Although I know that means that you have to take time away from your life to travel. Your travel videos are truly the very best on TH-cam! You are calm, you show professional footage, the sound is perfect, and you have a real talent for presenting the parts of the town that will be interesting for others… Vignettes, scenes, angles.
Thank you. Thank you so much!

@@MemorySeekers It's a roving writers' tour, so definitely York, then North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering through Goathland to Whitby; a tour about the Dales, staying at Malham, and ending the jaunt in Harrogate, -- with visits to Fountains Abbey and Castle Howard along the way. I'll extend the trip, so who knows where else I'll end up? ☺

Another great video. Geographically and historically so interesting (and I'm from Yorkshire). The jar of Liqorice Allsorts really got me going along with the pork pies. Can't get them here. Price of living in the states I guess!

Thanks for sharing this amazing video! Pateley Bridge truly looks like a hidden gem in the Yorkshire Dales. The town's history, cute shops, and stunning scenery make it a must-visit destination for any traveler. The Nidderdale Museum and Coldcuts Quarry both look fascinating, and the Toft Gate Limestone Kiln is truly unique. Your video has definitely inspired me to add Pateley Bridge to my travel bucket list!

WOW. Another STUNNER!! Beautiful. I've started my "Yorkshire/Devonshire Fund" unfortunately because US $ is typically only worth half of the Pound Sterling I still have some ways to go but at least I've started!! I have discovered that when I open the screen to full, it almost puts me in your vantage point. You can also see other details better. I also realized that when you're filming on a gray rainy day, the colors of the flowers and the buildings look better. Watching your videos is a great way to cure the blues. Thank You for these uploads and the information that you provide. Cheers from NYC!!!

I would say that you two fellas should take your show on the road... but you obviously already have! I'm curious as to whether you each have professions that relate to videography or whether you spend your off-video time contributing to completely different interests. Your attention to detail, specifically supporting your work with additional research and the like, is so well done. This particular video is already in my top three! Your videos have become my weekend stay-home virtual getaways. Much admiration... ~~from the Midwest, US.

Hi Ann, I (Simon have a back ground in IT and have done some photography work in the past but it’s just a hobby that had taken off I guess. We both love to travel and have full time jobs. We just run this channel on the weekends and our annual leave for work. One day who knows we might be able to go full time with the videos. 😊

What a lovely video, Pateley is a fantastic place, as is the surrounding countryside, it’s a must visit place. I moved to PB in 1996 from Coventry to be one of the towns paramedics, it changed my life for the best. I meet some lovely people in that town.👏🏻

that little town is astonishing! the museum alone is worth the visit. I saw a singer sewing machine close to what I got, and the doilies with beads on the edge are used here in church, to keep the pastor's water glass free of bugs! Got to see this a few more times, all these tins with stuff, and the wonderful landscapes. I agree wholeheartedly with gorgo here, your videos are getting better and better! Already looking forward to next week's. Thanks so very much for sharing your trips with us who never will be able to visit.

    Beautiful images!
Get a kind of holiday feeling when you walk through those beautiful villages.
Very striking to me, that there are no windmills in the distant views.
In the province where I live there are many hundreds, so wherever you look you see large groups of windmills, fortunately not in this film, beautiful!

Yes, those are the beautiful old windmills.
I live in the province of Flevoland and there are windmills that are supposed to generate electricity and they are less beautiful, haha.

    • @heinpereboom5521
      @heinpereboom5521 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Nicky L
There are about 100 watermills and 1100 windmills left in the Netherlands and they are hundreds of years old and beautiful to see.
Various windmills can also be seen in operation in Zaanstad, they are part of a museum (De Zaanse Schans).
There is also a windmill museum in a building, where you can also view the history and technology of windmills.
      There are no watermills there.
There have been about 10,000 windmills in the Netherlands and many more watermills than now.
Of course you can only build water mills in areas where there are rivers and streams, so there were always fewer of them.
Most can be found in the eastern provinces of the Netherlands.
There are now also about 3000 wind turbines in the Netherlands that must generate electricity.
      They disturb the landscape horribly.
People also suffer a lot from noise and moving shadows from the blades.
Various items have also burned down and broken off, both the blades and the masts.
I live in the province of Flevoland where most wind turbines are located and hundreds more are being built there.
There is no place where you don't see them in large numbers.
Mills have disadvantages, because their power depends on the 3rd power of the wind speed, for example from wind force 7 to 6 means 50% less power, which has to be adjusted with natural gas plants, which costs extra natural gas because the yields are lower.
Many water and windmills in the Netherlands can be visited, so you can really see them working.

    10.00 "Photo"?? - surely "Litho"? 😉
The boys are back and the 1 thing that pings me about their excellent videos is that, as usual, they show what you could have seen but just missed. 😢
Took a train over from York to Harrowgate many years ago then a bus out to Pateley Bridge to go walking in the Nidderdale upstream from the Bridge. Had a great day but now that memory is blighted by the realization of what I missed by not giving the village the once over before returning to York! The smaller country villages anywhere in Europe are always of interest to visitors from "Overseas." 😊
