Superb work. Allow me to revisit the money pit issue here. If you had opted to repair the engine rather than replace it, the Impreza would have joined the money pit list - the owner would have pumped a lot of money for endless repairs. Excellent work as usual, with a CK.
Hizo Subaru boxer engine ziko na shida ya head gasket from factory, one of its weaknesses. Inakula bearing juu ya kukosa oil due to kuchoma oil juu iliendeshwa for a while na headgasket mbaya ama hizo leaks you were talking about zili cause level to be too low. Probably mwenye gari alikuwa anaweka head gasket mpya bila kucheki kama cylinderhead hazija warp so the same problem ina repeat. Wanabomoa engine, chonga crankshaft na repeat the same thing again mpaka ikakwisha.
@@fanuftali300Oil in the coolant reservoir and in the radiator are sure fire signs that your headgasket is blown. Accompanying symptoms will include hard to start, low power, overheating, milky oil when you check the dipstick, white smoke from the exhaust when running and a rough lumpy idle engine speed if the engine runs at all. The only solution for a bad head gasket is replacement by a competent mechanic who will check for warpage or cracking of the cylinder head and block , burnt or bent exhaust valves, worn valve seats and for wear of the valve seals .Flushing all coolant contaminated oil before afunge kila kitu is a must. Make sure he also checks that the water pump, thermostat, radiator, coolant temp. sensor, electric fans and the fan clutch (in mechanical fanned engines) are good coz those are the common causes of overheating if they are faulty, leading to cylinder head gasket failure. A badly timed engine or timing belt with broken teeth can also lead to overheating. The Proper cylinder head bolt tightning sequence and torque specs also need to be followed along with getting the right quality parts. Anything short and you will be back with the same problem. Hey everyone I got a Subaru Leone Ea71 engine, but going uphill does not have enough power n torque wile accelerating, but kwa flat road or mteremko its first, what could be the problem?
My fellow carnivernatics ...i used to own GH2 hatchback, problem started after the timing belt decide to misbehave bana ikakatika....wee that was the beginning of avery painful experience,i opted for engine rebuild that was the worst mistake it depleted my pocket properly then to make matters worse the car had issues afterwards, car had oil leakage, power loss, check engine, funny engine noise the list is endless....aihhh i decided sell the car at athrow way price and recoup afew coins. My advice anybody who has GH2 engine ikianza kuleta shida just buy anew engine.
Your issue was your mech.. 100% sure.. We have subarus. Tutafute we give you proper mechs. Hata this one that they've just fixed won't last long.. Nimeona makosa kama 30 na. Me si fundi.
Hope he didn't replace the 1.5l with another 1.5. it is an unwritten rule that when you take out a 1.5 l engine you put in a 2.0l. Its more economical and more powerful. I did that to my GG2 and i have never regretted
@julius my car is a 2005 car though i bought an engine taken from a 2011 legacy. The issue was that throttle from my old engine was a cable throttle while the one from the new engine was a sensor one. To make it plug-an-play, i bought an ej20 whole intake manifold and sold the one from the new engine with sensor throttle. I didn't change wiring harness and ECU
For longevity it’s imperative to service wear parts such as timing belts & idler gears, rear main seal, cam seals, water pump, thermostats and front seal when doing such a swap after all the service history is unknown. Exactly what does this pre-purchase inspection entail?
You also noticed the whining noise - initially you will notice it when cold, then it progresses to a permanent noise. One of those things with the Subaru power steering unit.

Kabisa we tend to agree with this sentiments 💯
Is that what causes you to see some oil in the coolant reservoir?
And if so, what's the best approach when you find out head gasket iko na shida?

honestly it was fixed in some models and for this specific type of impreza, the 2010 ones are the ones with lots of issues

True. Bent my valves, put in a 2L. More power, more economy....was a much better car afterwards

What's the best approach ukipata head gasket iko na shida? For example ukiona oil leaks kwa coolant reservoir?
Replace the gasket
At the end of the video ukirev nimeona oil ikitokea kwa exhaust...what causes that?!
That's not oil, its water .
I also saw oil
Its water but due to the carbon/soot kwa exhaust inakaa oil

It was done, actually it's 1 month and a half after we did the engine swap all is good
