What I like about obtaining virtue is that we are going beyond merely 'not sinning'. God bless.
I like your point of view!
Amen, together with Him the Lord
Perhaps, but we must take care that idea doesn't make us proud.
@@user-mz6ly1fj3z It never crossed my mind since one of the virtues is humility. God bless you.
You did great work translating the book. Also recommend Athonite Father and Athonite Matters to anyone that loves the Great Saint Paisios

45:00 regarding seeking consolation from God through prayer, fasting, etc. someone help me because during this great fast/Great lent I have fasted to the point that I am compromising my health, my ability to do work for my job, and I'm even struggling at doing other things such as prayer, spiritual reading, and other things because I'm so exhausted from not eating. On one hand I'm being told to engage in fasting but on the other hand My fasting is not enabling me to do other things that are being recommended to me for my spiritual benefit. I am committed to the abstinence from food and fasting as often as I am able but it is getting to the point where it is impacting my ability to function as expected in everyday life as well as in my ability to carry out other thanks for my spiritual benefit. I am also falling into bad habits from the lack of nourishment, I am seeking consolation from God but I'm just weakening my defenses and keeping up the spiritual struggle. The reading from St Paul talks about how the week should eat vegetables but now I'm weak because I'm eating vegetables. Please advise.
We all should have an experienced Orthodox spiritual father who can help us keep the fasts in our particular circumstances. The goal of fasting is to kill the passions not the body. In Orthodoxy, the fasts are kept by abstaining from certain foods (no meat, dairy, alcohol Mon-Fri while oil and alcohol are permitted Sat-Sun) but spiritual fathers are generally not as strict regarding limiting the quantity of foods a person can eat since people have different bodily needs and circumstances. It is true that if the body becomes too weak then the soul suffers as well. Again, it is important to discuss with a spiritual father what you are currently doing and receive advice on what to do differently.
