I was falling asleep one day, and I was thinking how in case of war I would escape to the country next to me. And I heard a voice saying "Lord Tell" and then I heard Lord saying "Same situation" and I started doubting the voice and the Lord repeated "Same situation".
And then I got wisdom, truly like these saints are saying, it will be global, there is truly nowhere to run. And this will be the sign of times by itself. There will be no safety for people.
Blessed are those who endure until the end. Truly terrible times are coming. And they won't come slowly. One day they will say peace and the next day it will be destruction. But try to stay away from the cities, for there will truly be no where to hide even.

The Metropolitan's most memorable comment for me was to not concern ourselves with 'ifs'... IF the Patriarch of Constantinople does this or that... but to focus ourselves on our own salvation. IF such a thing MIGHT happen, then approach it at that time.

I now ofter visit her grave at the monastery of Panagia Kalyviani, I know she helped me during very difficult health problems i had recently and she still helps me, until, if it is Gods will, i get over it. I had many wounds of faith inflicted upon me by a religious community in Catholicism and John Romanides was a big reason why I got away from that religious community and Catholicism. I pray God give me the grace to fully repent and not turn back from the plow of good works to dwell on what is in the past that I cannot change despite how much it had hurt myself and countless others.

As a sinful man, and I don't mean that piously or put on but instead logically and factually, how can I trust my ability to discern anything? I have a great conflict within when it comes to trusting myself with just about anything, as at least it seems, that I can plainly see my own sinfulness, faults, and mistakes I've made along the way and make everyday. Though, in most everything, I try to remove myself and look at it as objectively as possible, I can see in my own life that I really do sin just about every second of everyday (whether physically commiting one or the lack of spiritual attention/vigilance to things and any and everything in between) and am blind so to speak in most things, even more so in spiritual things. All of that said, when it comes to discernment, how can I consider myself capable of doing so and trusting it?

    • @OrthodoxEthos
      @OrthodoxEthos  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

In Orthodoxy we place great importance on the need to find an experienced Orthodox spiritual father who has discernment and can provide spiritual guidance. It is indeed dangerous to trust our own judgment.

This is evidence of what has always been known in more emotional cultures, is that the life in Christ mainly dwells in the heart instead of the mind. We can have heart felt thoughts or thoughts with no emotion at all but Christian living really all revolves the heart predominately.
Correct mental knowledge is important of course to avoid sin and error but God ultimately judges us not on our theological knowledge but on our state of heart and our obedience to his commandments which almost always involve our hearts as this is where spirituality lives. Those from more intellectual cultures have difficulty understanding and accepting these concepts as they are very much mental and theoligy focussed but thats not where spirituality lives and where God dwells so in your from this type of culture be aware.

    Let's pray
“From my open heart, I ask You my Father for justice. Justice that is accomplished, through the power to commit myself to the end, by adhering to Your 'Law of Love' and its compassion. May my inner eyes be opened to the Light that will enliven a new Heaven and Earth from Your Love and Wisdom. That we humans no longer allow ourselves to be intimidated by those who have power for a short time, that we learn to use the smallest opportunities in a creative, loving way to establish peace and do justice in Your Name. Knowing not to lose courage, since there is nothing that is impossible with You my Father. Let us no longer fall into temptation, going along with those who are possessed by the devil or by extreme fear; power, money, status and sexual derailments. Help me to see through this untold great evil every day through Christ in me and I Christ, Amen” 🙏☦️

Now is the year 2024 and 8th council is still NOT on a level of Ecumenical Council since 9th one did not happen and only valid 9th council can elevate 8th one to the level of "Ecumenical". Those who will say that 9th one was the one so called "pan-Orthodox", keep in mind that at that council less than 50% of the worldwide Orthodoxy was represented and decisions of that council are not widely accepted. Wishes of organizer of that council are not sufficient to make it legitimate 9th council. So, at this point in time, Eastern Orthodox Church is the Church of SEVEN Ecumenical Councils and 8th one is pending that designation.

    • @OrthodoxEthos
      @OrthodoxEthos  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +36

The Council itself called itself many times over "Oecumenical." All ecclesiastical men of the day, including the Pope, referred to it as Oecumenical.
The canonists of the 12th-14th centuries (Balsamon, Zonaras) referred to it as an Oecumenical Council.
The Oecumenical Council of 1484 (as it called itself) referred to the Eighth Oecumenical Council of 879.
All of the Patriarchs together in 1848, in their reply to the Pope, referred to the Eighth Oecumenical Council of 879.
Many saints and ecclesiastical men have referred to it as the Eighth Oecumenical Council.
Do we have saints or councils which DO NOT CALL IT Oecumenical -- that is, they deny it? In particular, stand against it as Oecumenical?
Likewise, many have accepted the councils of 1341... in the time of Saint Gregory Palamas as the Ninth Oecumenical Council.
The Cretan council has not - at all - been accepted as an ecumenical council.

    • @johnnyd2383

@@OrthodoxEthos By listing those who called it as such and claiming "many referred to it as such" does not magically makes it Ecumenical. Many is not ALL. Rule is the rule. Not being elevated to that level does NOT mean it is disputed - it is a FALSE premise.
If you look into the TYPIKON, there are SEVEN Ecumenical Councils listed and 8th is in there BUT IT IS NOT designated as Ecumenical. Case closed.

Many Roman Catholics that i knew believed that even 879 Council [Photian One] affirmed Papal Primacy.
So even though the 879 Council handled the Filioque pretty well by not inserted it in the Creed, That council still affirm the Papal Dogma.
That is why many EO that brought up 879 council vis a vis Filioque still underwent an uphill battle against Roman Catholics in a debate. Because this council still affirmed the Papal Primacy.

Next year 2025 is Anniversary of Nicaea 325 AD at which Saint Spyridon of Cyprus was present
Please pray a representative of all 318 Bishops who attended will be present at Nicaea next year
The List still exists somewhere perhaps in Sinai Monastery/My research this week discovered that Bishop of Gangra attended
but tragically on his return was murdered/Gangra was place of exile for others in this early Christian History of Seven Ecumenical Councils that began with Nicaea 325 AD and hardly known today For Example
Patriarch Gennadios of Constantinople is buried near Paphos at Nea Moni
Is he only Patriarch of Constantinople buried or associated with Cyprus? Perhaps Metropolitan Neophytus might like to make video?
Researching the 318 a number deliberately chosen to reflect Abraham Warrior Army mentioned in Genesis

“Papal primacy was never an issue in Orthodoxy, Papal Supremacy is”. Pretty sure the words “vicar of Christ” do not suggest the Pope is supreme, in fact it humbles him as one who serves UNDER another’s authority, that being Christ Himself.
Peter and Paul established the Christian church in Rome, later succeeded by Pope Linus. It was fitting for the disciples to accept Peter as the first Pope, and fitting for Peter to have Linus succeed him as second. Enter the Germans and the French, and suddenly the Greeks have become like the Jews, infuriated that Christianity became “Catholic” or universal, having no Greek authority. That’s what really happened. Meanwhile the Roman Catholic Church has given Christ to practically every continent on the map. Case closed….

Christ said to not put your trust in men.
    Put our trust in God.
    He never fails.
    Is always right.
He knows what's best where others may or may not.
Develop an unbreakable bond with Christ so you won't be fooled by others.
Let the Holy Spirit walk with and in you so you can be on the straight and narrow path that leads to The Holy Trinity. ☦️
    Psalm 146:3-5
3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God.
    Psalm 118:8-14
It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in princes. All nations compassed me about: But in the name of the LORD will I destroy them. They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: But in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: For in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: But the LORD helped me. The LORD is my strength and song, And is become my salvation.
