Also on an unrelated issue to the Win 10 dual boot. I lost DVD playback functionality on the Macbooks 2012 after going to OCLP Montrerey. I first thought that the drive had crapped out. Through troubleshooting with the other MBP I realized it is Monterey. I reverted to Big Sur, hoping this will be be adressed by the community.

@@k0ns0le78 I had that same issue on my 2012 9,1. Worked for me on a 2014 Macbook Pro. I added a 2TB NVMe drive, and now have Windows 10 and Ventura as boot options (1TB each). Great job, thank you for the tutorial. Will you be doing a Windows 11 tutorial?
Exactly the video I'm waiting for If only I saw this earlier lol ended up installing OCLP Monterey on an external USB and leaving Windows in the iMac drive
I'm glad the video was helpful in installing Windows 10 on my early 2011 Macbook Pro 8.1. It's always great to have a detailed step-by-step process to follow, and it's even better when you can get some additional input from other people. As for Windows 11, it might be a good idea to wait until I see a reliable guide before attempting to install it. In the meantime, I shall enjoy using Windows 10 on my MacBook Pro! Has anyone been able to successfully install Windows 11 on a MacBook Pro from early 2011? It would be great if you could share your process and any tips, so the rest of us can also install it on our MacBooks. Thank you in advance for sharing your experience.
Have you seen the MBR error before attempting that windows installation screen on bootcamp partition, how did you bypass. Am also attempting it on MacBook Pro 8,1 using latest windows 10 22H2 version.
13:40 I don't have an EFI boot option. I just have the option for my Mac OS and the windows usb stick. Im running Ventura on a 2011 Mac 27". I cannot select EFI boot as it does not show up in the list?
Mr Macintosh, you rock !!! I successfully installed OCLP EFI, Ventura and Windows 10 on my mid 2015 MacBook AIr. I was using the same OCLP that I created for my iMac and that kept crashing windows installation. I thought it was the format GPT or NTFS... NO it was the fact that each OCLP is tailored to the machine it is installing on. So I just dumped the Win10 iso in the download and installed it straight from there to my BootCamp partition, skipping the unneeded USB Boot creation. It's NOT required!. Now I want to install Linux Mint 21.2 and perhaps switch to windows 11 if it's legal, worthy and as straightforward as Windows 10...But BootCamp wont let me shrink the partition it created for Windows. The only option it gives me is to delete to restore that space to Ventura. Can I just use the disk management within Windows 10 to shrink the partition and then install linux into that freed up space? How will it affect the EFI competition? If it works, is there a way to show only the 3 OS option at start up and use your Control key press to prioritize the one I'm mostly using at the time? I also noticed that some people affix specific icons to select between the 3 EFIs...Did you cover that somewhere along? Is that something easy to do? I was wondering if Time Machine will make a backup of the BootCamp- Win10 partition as well as Ventura.... Anyways, thanks so much for your effort.
I am running OCLP v0.4.2 on MacBook Pro 5,4 (Mid 2009). It is running great with OS 12.2.1. I tired running Boot Camp but it wouldn't work on this machine. Then I tried these steps on MacBook Pro 8,2 (Early 2011). I followed all steps, but I get the "Windows Can only be installed to GPT disks" (14:50 in your video) How do I fix this issue, I did format in ExFat before and have tried selecting Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro. I get the same error both time.

Hi I'm trying to follow this on my imac mid 2011 running montrey open core I've followed your video several times but I keep getting windows can't be installed on to this disc because it has a MBR partition table how do I remove the MBR partition table TIA
I still couldn’t install onto the partition after changing it to exfat on my 2010 27”. Still said Parton was mbr. So I deleted the partition and ended up creating a new container instead and formatted as exfat. Then I was able to format it in windows install and then install.
hello... windows 11 pls.. because i always stuck on partition.. msg error is windows cannot be installed to this disk. on efi systems windows can only be installed to gpt disks already i follow ur step but always that msg i found.. anyway i use mbp 2012.. thanks..
I tried to install using these instructions from your video. I tried this probably 100 times. On my iMac 2013 everything worked. but on my Macbook Pro 2012 the installation happens too quickly and then a message appears saying that an error has occurred. I download the windows 10 file from the Microsoft website, install it on a USB STICK via Bootcamp, load it via EFI, but at the end there is still an error
Thank you for the vote for windows 11! I have it up and running on a 2013. I need to get the Legacy BIOS install out first then I can move to windows 11 👍
Windows 10 and 11 on a mid-2012 that's installed in GPT will only have internal screen working. If you want external screen through direct miniDP (not thunderbolt dock, doesn't work on Windows, either GPT OR LEGACY), you need to install Windows 10/11 in MBR.
Thank you for showing me this video before I had to install windows 10 from DVDs due to the fact that the USB will not work it would say the partition does not exist thank you! 🙏
it worked great on my Macbook Pro i7 16GB 2014 OCL Ventura, but NOT my macbook Air 11" i7 8GB 2013 OCL Sonoma. It installed windows but when it reboots an d loads it shows a error.. I should have checked the error code. I went to my Mac section and reversed my Boot Camp back to the way it was. I will try it again later.
Hi, I was able to enter in the installation of windows, but when the installer start my keyboard and touchpad (mouse) doesn't work and I am stuck. Do you have any idea of what's happening?? I'm using a 8,1 Macbook with Sonoma OCLP.
Hello! I figured I should let you and perhaps other mac users our there that I tried, installing win on a mac pro 5.1 using this method but it did not work. The windows installers just won't recognize the har drive as "windows ready" no matter what format or partition I tried. Not blaming anyone here, I knew it was a long shot but I wanted to try it. Hello Sir , I have iMac late 2013, with Monterey 12.6.1 , I follow the video , when the Windows finish copy files , I got error "Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. Mr. Macintosh i really like your instruction it very clear and easy to follow but I am having a problem on installing windows after I reformatted the bootcamp on exfat inside the monterey. after that I restart and start the windows installation according to your instructions 1 by 1 it is giving me a message that I am not able to install windows on this pc. Macbook pro 15 inches late 2011 successfully installed your patched Monterey OS installation instruction. please give me some idea how to do thanks in advance.

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI system, Windows can only be installed in GPT disks I have macbook pro mid2012 with mac os monetary with OCLP I installed mac os with ur video successfully
Hi! I have my Early 2015 MBP 13 inch that already has bootcamp installed through its normal supported Monteray. Can I just use your normal tutorial using OCLP to install Ventura on my MacBook or will it mess up my current bootcamp? What is the best procedure since I already have boot camp installed before OCLP?
Thanks! I'm having an issue where my USB2.0 16GB flash drives aren't showing up in Bootcamp Assistant as a destination to create the install disk. I tried using disk utility to erase as exFAT and FAT with MBR. Only my Samsung T5 SSD shows up as an option, but that's my Macintosh HD! Running OCLP on a 2012 Macmini6,2 Edit: I'm running macOS from an external SSD (and trying to install Bootcamp to another external SSD) possibly that has something to do with it.
This is so frustrating.... macbookair5,2 oclp working with big sur. Windows 10 uefi will not install saying the drive is in mbr. But it's not. Guid partitioning scheme. Separate 40gb exfat partition. Holding option, booting through opencore. Starting windows 10 install. I don't get it. EDIT: Repartioned in Recovery mode to ex-fat and attempted reinstall of Win 10 in UEFI. It did work, however, with the MacBookAir5,2 when Windows installs the graphics driver for Intel HD 4000 it goes black screen and you can't do anything. Subsequent reboots shows windows loading (spinning circle) then into black screen. Works fine if you just keep Windows basic display driver. time to investigate. For now, I've redone it in legacy but then opencore doesn't see it and you have to hold down option to pick windows.
I have a late 2011 13" MBP which has dual boot for High Sierra and Monterey, is it better to install Windows 10 through bootcamp from High Sierra or from Monterey? EDIT: Bootcamp Assistant on my High Sierra would not work at all, it just crashes after I click "Continue" on the first page. It occurred only after I had partition the disk and installed Monterey in it, so I am guessing it has something to do with that. I'm wondering if adding another SSD (replace CD drive) just for the Monterey will solve that issue?
Cool thing for this way is also that you can use Parallels to access Bootcamp Windows under Mac directly as well without restarting. But one question, how to start the mac in recovery mode with OCLP? Tried so many times, never could make it on the correct timing it seems. The Bootcamp Partition will not show up in "Startup Disk" app?
Hallo Mr Macintosh.. in ur step 14:27.. i am still trouble cannot recreate partition windows.. btw iam use mbp 2012 and try install windows 11.. any solution.. thanks..
My Mac Mini 2014 has Sonoma installed through OCLP. I was following these instructions and it turns out I had to format the drive to NTFS which is meant for Windows 10 with MS Command Prompt. I did it by pressing Shift+f10 while installing Windows 10.
Thanks for doing my recommendation! ;) Though one thing: this works on my 2010 iMac so maybe change it to be 2010-2015 Edit: also on my 2010 computer, I did UEFI without OCLP, and the only problem I found was the screen wouldn’t turn on from sleep if the HDD fans were already on. This apparently was a driver issue, and unrelated to UEFI I believe
I also installed windows 11 on my 2008 Macbook4,1 by firstly getting win 7, then upgrading to win 10, then editing a DLL so that I bypass the TPM and UEFI secureboot requirements. I got BSODs within 30 seconds of login, so you have to go into the drivers folder under System32 and rename MacHalDriver.sys to a .bak file. Then I stopped getting BSODs. Dunno if this is required for every Mac model, just a quick note.
Hello ThatOneMaccGamer! sorry this took so long, I had nothing but problems trying to get all this to work. I had problems getting it work via UEFI on a 2010 so I left it off. Hmm maybe I could add your notes? It just might be tough for some viewers trying to figure out all the issues. I'm glad you got it working though!!!! PS thanks for letting me know about the windows 11 info.
Hello MrMac. Thank you very much for this amazing and clearly explained video. Well, I am stuck at that point where I have to format the BOOTCAMP partition inside the Win Install routine a second time. This cannot be successfully done since I still have the error on an existing MBR partition instead a GPT one; nevertheless, the DiskUtility still shows the whole Mac Drive is a GPT one. So, What can I do in this case? And: Does it matter that the USB stick has an MBR partition signature? I do not know how to solve they issue. Thank you very much. Kind regards, Roger
I have the same issue. I re-format the BOOTCAMP partition to Ex-Fat, go into the Windows installer, format the BOOTCAMP partition and it still doesn't allow me to install Windows, saying it's MBR not GPT.
@@radekkaderka8472 found the solution in comments. You need to format boot camp partition as macos extended journaled. Then in windows installer delete the partition. Create on deleted new one and you should be able to install windows 😊
So someone mentioned this here earlier, this only worked on a Mid 2012 Macbook Pro if you formated the BOOTCAMP partition to MacOS extended Journaled not Exfat and when you get into the Windows Installer delete the partition and create a new one from there installation was a breeze
Thanks. This is what did the trick for my pre-2013 MacBook pro (8,2). Exfat partition was still detected by the windows installer as an mbr partition. My main Macintosh HD is APFS, so maybe some of that container gunk was happening that I was unaware about.
Thanks! The only way Windows 10 setup allowed me to install it on Early-2011 MacBook Pro. Format BOOTCAMP partition to MacOS Extended (journaled) in MacOS, delete this partition in Windows Setup ("Delete" button) and then select "Unallocated space".
For the "2nd section", the OP never shows how he got to disk utility. EFI OCLP into MacOS hangs 10% in, so cannot get to Disk Utility from there. It appears to hang, I only waited a few minutes but there was no increase in the progress bar. And if Cmd+R to boot into recovery mode to get Disk Utility, clicking BOOTCAMP drive and trying to erase to ExFAT gives the following message "Disk Erase failed. Disk Erase failed with the error: The given file system is not supported on Core Storage." (2012 15inch unibody)
@@VladislavBaglai When you did this, in Disk Utility, had MacOS already renamed the bootcamp folder "Untitled" when you formatted it MacOS Extended (Journaled)?
Hello and thank you so much for your videos. I just came here after watching your OCLP Monterey install which I'm going to do first and then I am psyching myself to do this because I am DYING for Windows 10. Even though I like the Mac OS, my main machine is windows 10 pro and I am in big need to run both. Will this work exactly like your instructions for a Macbook Pro Mid 2012 (MacBook Pro 9.2) with a 2.9 GHz i7 processor and 16GB RAM? I do have two SSDs (Samsung EVO as a spare and a Crucial MBX as my main) of 1TB each. I mean should I go by this or the Legacy BIOS video you have out? thank you so much for your response!
Great instruction, thanks alot for this detailed one. Im facing some issues though on my Macbook Pro late 2013. I followed your instruction and it worked fine. But when i press option during start I dont have oclp efi boot anymore. Only Ventura and Windows. If I select Ventura I get a stop sign from apple, after a while it boots into Windows. Then I restart, after Ventura now I have another page with OCLP selector. Possible to set it to boot always into Ventura directly without option button? When i deselect “Show Boot Picker” in OCLP it cant start, only stop sign then. So I need to get my OCLP EFI boot option back? Thx
The 2012 Macs seem to be very troublesome based on the comments The main issues are: 1.Blue Screen after installation when booting into windows 2. The format issue thing I have found what I think is a fix for problem number 2, which is by deleting the partition and manually adding the partition back and then formatting it as exfact/msdos. I can't seem to fix problem number one that is blue screen
Thanks! OMG look i have a mid 2012 macbook pro retina and i have the formatting problem. I did the formatting to ex fat in macos and then formatting in windows installer but it still won't work.
I want to try your fix but how? Do i erase the partition in window indtaler or back in macos? If its not to much to ask could you tell me how to delete and manually add the partition?
Thank you so much. A question, I have just got a 2015 MacBook Pro and updated it to Ventura using OCLP. It was a struggle but I did get there with the help of your videos. So will this work with OCLP Ventura ? Thanks so much.

Thank you Van dinh! For your model, you could go either way. Maybe try UEFI first and see if you have any boot or driver issues. If not then you are good to go! For example on my 2012 I had to rename ApleMNT.sys and APpleHFS.sys in safe mode because windows 10 would keep crashing. After the rename the system ran great! If you are still having problems my next video installing via Legacy/BIOS is coming up next!

Finally.. Worked .. I bricked my device two times by booting into Stock boot picker😄

Really appreciate your work and efforts, thanks a lot. Do you plan making a tutorial on how to install windows 11?
I still couldn’t install onto the partition after changing it to exfat on my 2010 27”. Still said Parton was mbr. So I deleted the partition and ended up creating a new container instead and formatted as exfat. Then I was able to format it in windows install and then install.

8:00 unfortunately I don’t even get that far. Boot Camp Assistant just stops being „unable to download drivers“ (iMac 11,2, Monteray OCLP 1.4.3) 😢
Windows 11 please. I have Macbook 9,2 (Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15") The Intel HD 4000 driver doesn't work. Please make a video on it.
Thank you for the vote for windows 11! I have it up and running on a 2013. I need to get the Legacy BIOS install out first then I can move to windows 11 👍
@@Mr.Macintosh can u make a full video on this please
Windows 10 and 11 on a mid-2012 that's installed in GPT will only have internal screen working. If you want external screen through direct miniDP (not thunderbolt dock, doesn't work on Windows, either GPT OR LEGACY), you need to install Windows 10/11 in MBR.
Thank you!!!!!!!!! This is exactly what I needed!

I have a mac mini 6,2 and its on GPT table but windows 10 installer says. Cant be installed because the drive is MBR but i keep going back to mac and it says GPT. I want to dual boot on the same SSD

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI system, Windows can only be installed in GPT disks
I have macbook pro mid2012 with mac os monetary with OCLP
I installed mac os with ur video successfully

Running OCLP on a 2012 Macmini6,2
Edit: I'm running macOS from an external SSD (and trying to install Bootcamp to another external SSD) possibly that has something to do with it.
Great guide with everything explained. Now, how to add Linux to the dual boot system? :-)
Thanks for doing my recommendation! ;)
Though one thing: this works on my 2010 iMac so maybe change it to be 2010-2015
Edit: also on my 2010 computer, I did UEFI without OCLP, and the only problem I found was the screen wouldn’t turn on from sleep if the HDD fans were already on.
Glad to help ;)
will you upload a W11 video?, . . please?!!
Ooh, forgot to mention that I tried to setup on a Mid2012 MacBookPro, V 9,2.
I have the same issue. I re-format the BOOTCAMP partition to Ex-Fat, go into the Windows installer, format the BOOTCAMP partition and it still doesn't allow me to install Windows, saying it's MBR not GPT.
@@radekkaderka8472 I have this problem too on my mac from mid 2011. Have you solved it already?
@@MariuszKraus Still nothing

Thx
can you do the windows 11 one?
The 2012 Macs seem to be very troublesome based on the comments
The main issues are:
1.Blue Screen after installation when booting into windows
2. The format issue thing
I have found what I think is a fix for problem number 2, which is by deleting the partition and manually adding the partition back and then formatting it as exfact/msdos.
