    Excellent video. 2 additional observations:
    1. On my HD7950 I have 2 VBIOS versions. One is modded to have EFI-bootscreen on my MP4,1. With this VBIOS selected, AMD graphics drivers don’t work, resulting in a black screen. Switching to the original VBIOS solves this, I get normal screen behaviour
    2 If you want to install W11 without internet connection, eg no wifi-card and/or no ethernet, you can do a SHIFT-F10 at the country-selection screen and type “OOBE\BYPASSNRO” [enter]. System will restart and now shows the option to install without internet

    • @jensdbe
      @jensdbe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1) That's interesting. I do not have a boot screen with the card but it also doesn't seem to accept the AMD drivers. Will read on how I can see which BIOS is there and maybe try to flash it with another one, if available.
      2) I did apply that one actually (I did video on how to avoid a Microsoft account a while back). Didn't mention it in the video bit you can see that after setup completes, the language that is selected ia different :)

      @@jensdbe I also have this card, I initially bought because I wanted a boot screen from my 5,1using open core. I installed it and it booted the bootscreen no flashed require (it could already been flashed by the previous owner) Anyway i also installed Win 11 and ran into the same problem incompatible drives from AMD. I force installed the one for windows 10 and once installed the AMD software actually install the correct driver for win11 so it shows the correct GPU in the device manager.

    Hello,I'm a viewer from Italy,I really like how you give these old pcs a new life.
    Btw I have as a my primary pc one dell optiplex 3010(big one),I received it for free,it was without ram and hard disk,I used what I have as a spare parts,500 gb hd and 2 sticks of ram 4 gb each ddr3 1333 mhz.I also upgraded the power supply from the original with 275 W with another one with 500 W.Even if it's still pretty usable with Windows 11 installed on it,I think it's time to upgrade it and I would like to push to its limits.
    Rn I have i3-3240,I see that it can be upgraded to i7-3770,but someone says it can have compatibility issues,others say it works fine,so before buying it I would like to know if it's good for my pc and also wich gpu I should buy to get the best performance?
    And after replancing the cpu can I upgrade ram too or I need to stick at 8gb?
    I already have in mind to buy an ssd too.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

      I think you can safely upgrade to Windows 11 as you would do in any other unsupported system (I did a frw videos on that as well). All drivers are found on Windoes update so no need to download any bootcamp-files with Brigardier or Bombardier.

    Hi! Thank you for this video (and all the others too). I recently got two Mac Pro's 4,1 and have updated them to 5,1 firmware. On the internal SATA drive I have installed (with Open Core) macOS Sequoia and it has been working fine. Now I have installed a NVMe M.2 drive with that Sabren PCIe adapter you showed on another video. It seems to work fine. :)
    My goal is to install Windows 11 24H2 on that NVMe drive (but keep that SATA drive with Sequoia). I boot up the USB drive and select the NVMe drive for the Windows install. It starts to copy files (up to approximately 80%) and at the first reboot it just shows that BSOD with a message that winload.efi is missing. And I can't get past that point…
    Can you point me in some direction in how I can solve that?

    • @jensdbe
      @jensdbe  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You shouldn't install Windows in UEFI mode (by booting from USB) on the 5,1 or 4,1. It could eventually brick your machine. Have a look at a video I did specifically on getting Windows 11 on 5,1: th-cam.com/video/yZPKLmmjKSQ/w-d-xo.html

    Thank you so much for you videos. I followed them to install Sequoia and OC on my Mac Pro 4,1, and then Windows 11 on an NVMe drive. However, when I update Windows, it causes Open Core to no longer work. It just gets stuck on the Apple logo. Is this a common issue?

    • @jensdbe
      @jensdbe  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hmm, haven't seen such an issue so far. Updates can just install as on a "normal" system. Being stuck on an Apple logo seems to indicate that instead of OpenCore being started, macOS starts directly. Do you have a GPU that displays a boot loader? In that case, try to hold the Alt/Option key and see if you can manually start OpenCore instead.

      This is most likely some version-spoofing done by OCLP. This would prevent a newer, not-patched, FW-version from upgrading your current (real) version. I didn't test with any latest OCLP releases since I did this video but a bit strange to see. In general it shouldn't really matter as it is just a different version being reported than the real one.

    If I wanted to install ONLY windows 11 with no other operating system can I just create an optical disc and install from the disc without having to use open core or any other software? Ironically it might just be easier for me to make a DVD then I don’t have to worry about any problems with wrecking my Mac due to the USB installer. I realise I will need to make the registry changes to get round the TPM. I plan on installing to a SATA SSD on a 4.1 (flashed to 5.1).
