The design i great but the problem is it's aluminium and they get really hot if used a lot and that's the main reason the battery needs to be replaced.
I have the se and it is a great phone and I agree that the design is good but unfortunately I don’t think they will go back that design but they could do something similar to it
How does that even happen to the home button Jesus 😂 Recently I bought an *ICLOUD* LOCKED iPhone 5s and restored it, (cracked screen) removing the lock with the help of the *owners* passcode. Got this phone for only *12$* AMAZING STEAL! Gonna upload a vid on that VERY SOON. Keep up the great work Hugh
I bought a iphone se for 14 pounds but its icloud locked and the sim tray is missing can i get the icloud off without finding old owner as i bought on ebay
I got a cracked 6s 64gb missing the home button from one of my skateboard homies for $30. The eBay $2 home buttons are pretty much sh!t I’ve been through 2 in 3 months but there really isn’t an alternative
Only thing these videos leave out that I feel might be on purpose is the cost vs return on refurbishing these phones. My recent 64gb se unlocked dead battery/charger refurbished totaled $68 but they only resell for about $75-$80 now so it becomes less economical to repair these when you can pick up iPhone 7s with upgrade internals or even newer androids for only $100. Now these are diy prices not possibly the same price shops pay (these are parts only no labor factored) but still is a major reason why these get tossed out more often then repaired. Totally agree reducing ewaste but even off brand parts costs are a little too inflated too as another detractor for self repair & phone prices going up & up. If we could get more suppliers to offer quality parts at lower prices, I think there would be a lot more people trying self repairs. Not bashing the video though! I’ve literally learned how to self repair using these video of Hughes but I just think to be fair to viewer & in some phone repair scenarios showing the money /saving /costs would be honest useful info
Hi Hugh your one of the best technical TH-camrs out there! I absolutely love your videos and I am so excited when a new one comes out! I really love Australian accents as they are the best accents in the world!
Actually, most of those iPhone housing came from a place named Hua Qiang Bei, a district of ShenZhen City, some of them are new, third-party manufactured housing, some are from old or repaired iPhones in some retail store
I've watched a few button replacement where a new one is grafted onto the original cable, cutting and scraping the lines and some soldering. Maybe you can try you hand on one.
i got like 3 se's from ebay for less than 200 dollars. I got 3 cuz I'm an idiot and kept getting tempted by the good deals lol but I originally just wanted to get one to use as an iPod. I got two 64 gbs and one 128 gb and that's the one I use although it has a faulty battery cuz it dies insanely quickly despite saying 92% battery health. You can have it at 100 percent at night, go to sleep, wake up, turn it on and it'll have 70%, and it'll over 3 minutes go down to 60. Pretty sure even for an SE that's insanely bad battery life so eventually I'm gonna replace the battery, I just haven't gotten around to it cuz I also wanna get an actual iPod classic and just upgrade the battery and storage on one of those.
I’m here with missing home button’s iPhone 6. And I discovered only now (after 2 weeks without button) that you can personalise assistive touch and tell the iPhone to go home with a single tap instead of open the related menu and then tap home. Thanks.
Omg I love your videos they are so so good and I am really hoping that you respond and if you don’t I understand you’re probably really busy but yeah I just love that you’re trying to be more helpful to the environment thank you so much
Hey Hugh, is the rule still never to update. Are the latest iOS making older devices better? Please Give your thoughts. That’s a video definitely watch!
I think I am pretty lucky because I replaced an iPhone 6 lcd (for myself) and I forgot to disconnect the battery before the display I’m lucky I didn’t fry anything, and also this is a question, I bought a 10$ aftermarket display, and when I shut it down the slide to shut down thing keeps going back about halfway between sliding it, and also the y key won’t work. What should I do?
I have a Moto X 2nd Gen (2014) lying untouched for more than a year because of the damaged screen can you please make a video of it. It will be fun to watch.
I may never get an answer to this but I’m trying to fix my old 64GB SE that I accidentally smashed a few years ago. Used SEs are pretty cheap now so my plan was to get one and swap out logic boards. I know this means touch ID won’t work, but I’m not worried about that. My question is, can I purchase a 16GB model or do I have to have a 64GB model since that’s what I had? I’m assuming it shouldn’t matter since the storage is on the logic board but Apple is weird and maybe something else won’t work. If anyone read my comment/question, thanks!
“Excessive touch” love you Hugh Also the cost for resolving a home button issue on any iPhone is the same as a SCREEN replacement, not a full unit replacement for reasons like liquid damage. This is because they would replace the screen which would include a new home button. Unless the repair policy is for some reason drastically different than it is in the US that is.
I really dislike the new iPhones so I am committed to keeping my SE for as long as I can. i replaced the battery and screen on my SE 128gb this weekend.
I asked for an iPhone 6s for Christmas last year. Do you know what I got? An iPhone SE. (I’m happy with it though, even though I kind of wish I have an iPhone 6s or something)
Uhh…I am using a SE 64Gig here typing the comment.I’m just a student in a not very rich country. So I maintain my phone in a good condition.Every function are just working. But it still goes throw some repairs,it got a larger battery which I replaced with my self, and it kinda against the screen, but it didn’t break it,and bigger battery just make it not flat until I back home at 6pm.And I had some liquid damage in the screen of it since I washed it with alcohol after I dropped it to the ground(by the way the tiny display on it is pretty strong that last after I dropped it so many time and end up dead by liquid)
It’s because once you update a phone, it can never go back to the original. That’s why iPhones with older iOS are so rare and expensive. There are a few workarounds an certain devices though. Like some type of thing you can do with the 3G.
From where do you buy batteries for your iPhone repair? I want to replace mine and i cant find a good one. I need one like original. As there is no Apple shop in my country.
Great Video. Recently the touch id of my iPhone 5s stopped working. It was not a big deal with for some reason the phone started draining a lot of power. It wouldn't even last 6 hours on standby. I googled and it was due to malfunctioning touch id. I read that a quick fix would be to unplug the touch id cable from IC and did exactly that. Power drain issues have been solved. I am using assistive touch now as home button. I would like to replace my home button. I don't need touch id but just a functioning home button. What all should I keep in mind before purchasing a spare home button?
Sahil Patel On a iPhone 5s you can just go ahead and buy an aftermarket Homebutton or one from another iPhone 5s. You can than still click it but Touch ID won’t work....
I saw a video that someone cut the cable of the original home button and then used solder to put it in a replacement home button and regained Touch ID. But this is not as easy as it sounds.
Liked the SE design
And I hope they come back to that design in the future because it just feels better and looks nice too
The design i great but the problem is it's aluminium and they get really hot if used a lot and that's the main reason the battery needs to be replaced.
I have the se and it is a great phone and I agree that the design is good but unfortunately I don’t think they will go back that design but they could do something similar to it
Ya, the SE is a faster 5s and can be a iPhone 7 but smaller! An affordable iPhone
