Sam, you are simply one of the most concise reviewers on youtube.....not cheesy, great level of detail and incredible observations, and not too long. I have no idea why your subscribers don't give you the courtesy of a thumbs up after all the work you put into these videos. That being said, I'm a huge fan of the EV6, but not yet ready to make the jump to electric. So I'm looking for a hybrid. I'm "ok" on the exterior design of the Sportage, it has some elements that are cool (tail lights, etc,) but I simply do not like the front lights...the boomerang is ok, the headlights and the way everything curves to the side, not so much. BUT, I love the interior. I agree that it has a mid-century tech-forward design. The blue and tan is great, very yacht like. I just wish it didn't have piano black accents. So now on my quest for a hybrid as a stepping stone to full electric, it's between a base Sportage Hybrid, or an XLT Maverick. Probably will come down to which I can get at MSRP. Thanks again for a great review!
@@kondoc7853 We only have about 725 miles on it so far, and most of that is city driving. The overall mpg average since mile one is 29.8 mpg. However, we have seen a bit over 36mpg on the freeway at 75mph! The vehicle is solid, tight, quiet & comfortable. As the suspension “loosens up,” it rides better. The ONLY complaint’s I have so far are that the front passenger seat has no electric adjustments, only a manual adjustment forward & back. You can’t even raise the seat manually! The drivers seat is 6-way adjustable with an electric lumbar support, too. Also, the shiny plastic of the interior & the touchscreen dashboard are VERY “fingerprint prone.” Lastly, it bothers me a bit, that for the price of the vehicle it doesn’t come with the rear cargo cover, a $199 upcharge! Still, none of those things were or should be “deal breakers,” as the 2023 KIA Sportage IS a most excellent vehicle! Contact me again if ever I can be of assistance to you or you just want “compare notes.” Enjoy your new KIA.!
This is an awesome car that I bought one. Thank you for a wonderful review. I bought the 2023 Kia Sportage SX Prestige AWD Hybrid. I love it. Mine is coming in another month. It has the best 1.6L Turbo engine with the Hybrid engine at 38MPG. I am very impressed with all of it. So many features. The Panoramic sunroof is simple awesome. It is built very well with great quality. The LED projector lights are very bright and go very far. The engine is very quick and quiet. No road noise at all. Thank you for your honest review.
GREAT REVIEW!!! I am so in the market for a Kia Sportage I want the top of the line this review really sends it home for me with finalizing my decision even though I feel like it was pretty much final already I'm looking forward to tax time so that I could look towards getting my new Kia Sportage thanks for the review
if you go to the boards, this car is not consistently getting its MPG ratings. it's tracking closer to 30-32ish combined. Otherwise, i test drove this thing the other day and loved it. Super plush inside, lots of tech and space. This thing was a winner if you can get past the MPGs and you're not concerned about the long term reliability
Ah ha...Behind the Bashas in Gold Canyon! LOL. Got 2024 EX hybrid in grey. Desperately wanted that color interior but few and far between and sold fast so got the black. Was concerned about black and dark grey in AZ summer, any thoughts? Also cannot find a way to find instant MPG while driving, not average but in real time, nothing shows it.
Given the price difference and losing really only 1 seat, which would you get... this or the Sorento hybrid? Trying to decide. I think they both kick up and go the same?
I test drove both on Saturday. They were both nice. That being said, the Sportage was very noticeably A LOT peppier, and I kid you not, road smoother. It felt more nimble, just as quiet as the Sorento, and just as comfortable. It also had more features and dual digital screens that were also larger for about $8K less. Unless you seriously need the extra storage and or 3rd row... There's no point in getting the Sorento.
Was looking into buying this exact vehicle and your in-depth review really has helped me decide what to do. The fact that you only received 30mpg instead of boasted 38 w/AWD has made me stay away from this model.
EPA rates hwy mpg at 48 mph. There's not a single hybrid that gets anywhere near their listed combined mpg. They'll all be between 5-7 mpg less than what's listed. My friend has a RAV4 hybrid that's supposed to get 40 mpg combined, and she only averages 33.
Awesome review. This is the color and trim I want for my next Kia vehicle (I currently have a 2019 Kia Sorento LX). The premium package is preferred but will probably push this model out of my price range. I wish the actual MPG was closer to advertised. I just read an article from 2012 stating that Hyundai/Kia had misrepresented their EPA so badly that they had to gift their consumers with debit cards and promised to not make that mistake again. To be off by 10mpg on this new hybrid vehicle (based on yours and several other reviews) seems like a lot to me. Did they fail again, or is this typical?
You and several other reviewers have reported a large difference between the EPA mileage rating and the actual rating. I hope Kia addresses this. They need to revise their claims, or there will be a class action lawsuit perhaps. Anyhow, it's a deal breaker for me. I can get other hybrid SUVs that actually get around 40 miles per gallon.
KIA should thank for there nice car design to Mr. Massimo Frascella. That's why KIA changed it's new company logo too. Sure beats out to old style Ah Ju Si style which is Korean way of saying old middle aged man. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Great review and loved it. It made me to go look at plug in Hybe.
@@UpLevelGaming yeah that's advertised I saw a review on here where he averaged 30 miles per gallon over one day hoping it at least gets around 35 real world
@@tommytfaa If it means anything I test drove one here in Louisiana and I was averaging 34-38 in the city, and 40+ on the highway. I ordered mine and it should here on the 19th I can post again after I get it.
In fairness to it, hybrids tend to perform poorly in 100 plus degree heat with the AC on because the battery is taxed heavily for using the AC and keeping everything cooler. The gasoline engine has to work a lot more as a percentage of the balance.
Disagree. It is nice to see something more bold and stylish in a category of vehicles where milk toast, play it safe design and function seem to be the norm.

We bought one, and THEN watched your video. It reaffirmed our good choice. Thank you!
I ordered on. Can wait for it to come in. Are you seeing the 38mpg that they are calling for? Thanks

The only issue here is the lack of adaptive cruise control on the EX trim.

I like the Sportage. My in-laws have a 2019 which has been great so far. The 2019 doesn't have a CVT which makes it better than others.
2023 doesn't use a cvt either lol
Did thy fix the engine issue from the oil?
Yes im a certified technician at Jerry seiner Kia slc
At 05:03, Why does some higher trims have the dial shift which is more classy and others have the old stick shift knob?
The Hybrid version has the dial whereas the traditional gasoline version has the stick.
I really like the exterior styling of the new Kia Sportage. Not so much a fan of the latest Hyundai Kia interiors though.
Hi, what would you choose between the 2023 Sportage Hybrid or Toyota Venza? Ty
I need the Harmon kardon. But you can only get the blue and white interior in the EX smh
Only the top trim comes with adaptive cruise control which is a bummer. Kia please update the 24 model year Hybrid with standard ACC.

Toyota hybrid batteries warranty is 10 years 150,000 miles

Any one knows when this car ( hybrid) coming g to Australia?
Was the sound system on the Sportage adequate? Some owners are reporting they have to turn the volume up to 50, to get any sound out of the system.
It is not bad, just not really good. Yeah, seems you have to turn it up more than you would expect.
I like how this guy talks! Kinda sophisticated!
Love washboard test
Any idea when the HPEV will be out? Enjoyed your review
Try the Niro Hybrid. I drive one of those. It was VERY nice!
I meant “…drove…” 😆
The hybrid to me is better than the PHEV.

Yes for sure. It does very well.
@TestDrivenTV Which do you think looks better between the Sportage and Tucson?
Depends on what styling you like the best. Otherwise they are near identical.

Did they just pair an electric motor to one of their own Theta III Engine transmission? That is going to be trouble long term.

Otherwise, a good review.
Looks like KIA went all out with 2023 hybrid. Risky move, but seems to be paying off. Enjoy it while it lasts I guess lol
The real question is: will that car be as reliable as a Honda or Toyota for 10 years ?
I can’t stand the rav4 this is a breathe fresh air . Toyota has problems angle entry with the doors . I haven’t notice this with other brands yet

So that EX Hybrid comes with a sunroof whereas the standard engine EX doesn't have a sunroof; you have to go to the next trim.
The sun roof is additional. They pair it with the auto trunk shutter mechanism for $1500.
