An excellent list as usual. I had zero interest in Tank Style Watches, but several reviews of different Tank Style Watches have definitely changed my mind. And the fact Berny is using just their logo instead of their name makes this one even that much more attractive!
Thanks for the info. Last Nov. the Milfortic Murph had conflicting information in the add. It did have a nh38, had to open it up to find out. The matching color of the hands, indices and minute track did it for me. It seems to be the closest to the OG out of all the offerings available. I got it for $110, all in, during the 11/11 sale.
I love seeing Addiesdive and, especially, Tandorio getting the attention they deserve. Tandorio was a bit of a taboo brand initially but as time goes on (pun intended) I've seen reviewers begin to see the value Tandorio offers. My first experience with Addiesdive was the MY-H2 flieger and I've been a fan of the brand ever since. Excellent review of some excellent watches!
Mate, you show alot of nice watches, and I always enjoy your videos. Nice one once again 👍 That Monster in blue was mesmerising, keeping my eye on that one. From one highlander to another, enjoy your whisky .
Thank you John for all your watch reviews. I already subscribed to your channel and put some thumbs up. Your videos are neat and well presented. Keep up the good work. Greetings for Montréal. I have some Scottish patients and I always have fun with most of them.
Thanks John, a nice bunch of watches! I'd look at them all except the first one. Baltany watches are very good, but that sister brand watch is very unexciting . There are so many similar watches including one you pointed out, you've also got the $85 Addiesdive which is arguably better. I'm not crazy about the wobbly Miyota. I remember my wife looking at a watch I had and saying, Brian, your watch is broken. 😂. Anyway I would still look at it . For me go for the rest. 11 out of 12 ain't bad !
Great choices! Good deal on the Heimdallr Monster! I bought that when it was $140 but for under $100 I might just get a second one in a different color.
Another cracking video, I've got the Boderry and the Addie's Khaki homage and they're both great watches. Oh, and I wear mine closer to the hand too, I think it looks daft half way up the forearm.
I’m quickly becoming a fan of the Tandorio brand. I already have two. The Captain Willard one with the mother of pearl dial and rubber strap, and the big 47 mm one with a huge crown that’s 11 mm tall on its own. I don’t mind wearing my watches the “wrong” way. It’s more comfortable and with the sapphire crystal, the watches are readable at most angles.
More diamonds in the rough. the Tandorio Diver 5303 40mm for some reason puts me in mind of a Vostok Komanderski. Considering how Vostok prices have risen ( ..shortage of steel due to increase demand for AFV replacement perhaps?) this Tandorio is looking attractive to someone who wants the look but is not tied to owning a Russian watch. The Heimdallr Monster V2 42mm is also beautiful and hopefully does come down in price in the sales......entertaining set of watches. Enjoy the whisky! currently geographically isolated from real whisky as the US has really high prices for single malts and good quality blends...even a Japanese colleague visiting here was left shocked by the prices for the water of life Cheers!
Great video as always John. I am eyeing that monster to buy for my dad considering I broke the crystal on his watch ooops. Pagani is very meh, I gave up on them long time ago however that sister brand of Baltany is certainly worth considering. Till next time, keep well!
Great selection, I know what you mean about the Choice prices sometimes being lower than the sale price! I like the Milifortic Murph, but there is a very similar Tandorio at less than half the price.
Yep there is....but for me a field watch has to have water resistance and Tandorio are very questionable. Great looking but wouldn't last a day in Scotland haha 😆
@@johnswatchjoint Good point John, the on\y Tandorio I have. I built from parts, it was pretty well made and was OK when I pressure tested it to 50m. If I buy a new one, I would strip it to check the seals are OK, but we shouldn't have to do that!
Sigh. After having already bought the Escapement Time khaki, now I’m going to have to buy the Militado as well. The white looks amazing. And the font really looks Hamilton-esque. ET should have put a sapphire crystal on it. The VH-31 is quickly becoming one of my favorite movements. I have too many automatics, and these sweeping quartz movements are a breath of fresh air.
Hi there if you are referring to the watch with ST16 movement, I cannot really comment. I have not handled it. I do know that this movement in Seagull branded watches has a decent reputation but those used in other brand watches are questionable. Sorry I cannot offer anymore on that but thanks for the question:)
Hey John - question on the Tandorio Diver 5303 40mm VS 2023 NEW IPOSE IX&DAO GMT - Barre the truer design of the IX (bracelet and end links) whats the differences here? I'm interested but oscillating between the 2...
Thanks for the question. I have owned the IX DAO and was very impressed with the quality at the price. From what I have seen of the Tandorio, that quality isn't there It lacks details but it is not in the same price range. The handset is where I noticed it most from vids I've seen plus it just loses the vibe for me personally without those end links. For the money the Tandorio is good but it's just not an IX DAO.
Not sure if you have covered the benrus clone by San Martin its really good with the bead blasted case but that is enormous with the case design. it’s really spot on looks wise but I’m hoping for a smaller version at some point so I can get one for my weedy wrist!
if you want a cartier homage take a look at the specht and sohne aviator, got mine for £85 to the door and its awesome for the money. great vid as always!
I’ve never had any Pagani issues until buying the Zulu homage 1st one bezel not aligned 2nd gmt hand does not alliance at all - and the bracelet was so loose and gappy at the end links … gutted
Still I have seen worst on AliExpress. I had a hard think on this watch during the last big sale and I couldn’t find any reviews. But definitely a good looking watch
Hey John, you know i had a surgery on my left shoulder and crushed my wrist twice. I wear my watches loose and no one will tell me how to wear them. Id wear one on my ankle just to piss them off lol hagwe buddy 🙂
I have the Militado 36mm Khaki Field homage. It's an almost perfect GG-W-113 style watch; 36mm is IMO the perfect size (38mm loses the vintage feel a bit, 34mm is too small), sapphire crystal, excellent case profile with perfectly sized lugs (take that Hamilton), screw down crown, VH31 movement (4 ticks a second) and the dial seems to be very clean and perfectly laid out. The only downsides are that the lume doesn't last long and the sapphire crystal has no anti-reflective coating...and perhaps some people won't love the shiny hands, but I do. And here's the interesting thing: I find this watch to be more satisfying to wear than much more expensive watches. I hope John or someone else reviews them. The only two reasons to buy a Hamilton Field Mechanical is the H50 movement (which BTW has its downsides, like the fact that it is easy to overwind and break the mainspring, and that only Hamilton can regulate it) and of course the history Hamilton has. But I'm not a fan of "history", which is emotional, mostly. Call me crazy but the Militado is way better field watch than the Hamilton. It's more robust with better water resistance too. My only advice is that when you buy it buy a nice FKM rubber 18mm strap to go with it.
I wonder why Baltany even need a sister brand like Milifortic. These watches would fit perfectly into the Baltany line-up. I would get it if they made something completely different like dress watches. But is no discernible pattern here as they released dressy watches like the VC 1921 under the Baltany brand name. Also price wise there isn't much difference between a possible "premium" Baltany and a "budget" Milifortic. 🤔 But...come on, the Milifortic is leaps and bounds ahead of the nasty Escapement Time! 😂
@johnswatchjoint Cheers, mate, I'm excited for the sale. I'm so torn on what to get as I'm interested in so much, but I know I can buy them next sale as well :) I'm starting to get a decent little collection here, but I need a gmt and a mechanical chronograph still.
The best watch on AliExpress is the San Martin in green...check that review ...and it's a GMT. Proxima's new 1963 is awesome with the Sea-Gull ST19 and It's due for review very soon ☺️
@johnswatchjoint The gmt San martin in green is right at the top of my list, and it's the color I'll get. It was my favorite new release, and then you confirmed its quality for me. I'm not sure if I know which proxima you mean, but I'll have to check that out. I had been looking at the San martin snow flake hand or either the sugess top chronometer series or the sugess Breitling homage, but I'm now interested to see this proxima review to add a 3rd option. Oh, and I was thinking of grabbing a cheap Pagani or tandorio with an nh35 as an nh35 movement spare. I figured I'd spend like $15-20 extra than the raw part and have a real beater gardening watch. I'm off to the watch shop to see how much installation of a ceramic bezel would run on my glycine. I'm not an aluminum fan, I learned that lesson 😅
Hi buddy the SM will be on my next Ali Sale video...hopefully tomorrow as will the Proxima. It's the PX1716 Seagull 1963 homage with the correct movement. It's so comfy compared to the original 😸🤗

I agree with you on that. They have never been something I would normally look at. This one looks decent and the choice of the logo is sensible ;)
The real belter here is this channel, you drop those news faster than the world's economy 😂👍 thank you John!
Glad you enjoy it!

That Bulova moonwatch homage looks great and the Boderry keeps as an unbeatable field watch 👌🏼👌🏼
I second that re boderry 👍. Metal strap not great and best swapped out tbh.
Great list. Enjoy your Whisky.
I might go for one too. Cheers.
Slainte ;)
Thanks for all your hard work John! Great Selection as Always!
Cheers Jason :)
Im liking the heimdallr monster colours are really good and price is great
Nice selection of watches John, and at prices that people can afford and have fun collecting.
...I thought I'd do it in stages this year. The Biggie is still to come ;)
That Berny isn't as much a Tank homage as it is a Cartier Santos homage. Looks fab either way. Please do follow up on it.

@@johnswatchjoint so the IX DAO is the one to go for generally - no others are better than even that homage right?
It's just my honest opinion. I think the end links were crucial to the look...but that's just me :)

I’ve still got mine, but I’m not a huge fan. It’s way too thick and is extremely effective at plucking your arm hair
Great review John 👍
Thanks David 👍

Good job John. Like the I&W but please, lose the "Carnival" and "SWISS SECURITY"??? The Monster is also a great deal. Regards

Budget “belters” or “beaters”?
