If you like seeing good food cooked on a camp fire check out Kent Survival. The guys name is Andy, and he’s a really chill guy! The food he cooks is genuinely amazing
I made a pork shoulder in foil the other day. Five layers of foil next to the copious coals of a giant scrap wood burn fire. Four hours was really good. Five hours would have been incredible. It doesn’t get smoker type flavor but you get to build a giant blazing fire.
Bob is not my uncle. He's my Dad. This is a perfect tin foil dinner. I just went camping with my wife for my birthday this past weekend and made a steak, potatoes and carrots tin foil dinner to get reheated in the campfire. I cooked them in the oven for 45 minutes before we left. Reminds me of being a kid and going camping as a boy scout.
Have done this for YEARS! Especially when out hunting - Rib meat (which is hard to save and bring back) works GREAT in these - except we usually don’t flip it, but we DO put it directly into the coals of a wood fire. Ooo! SO GOOD! Carrots are a fav in these as they add some sweet to the heat and last a long time (weeks) in the field. Hunt Kill Eat GOOD! 👍🏻
Agreed, more foil packet videos! Great for camping or having friends over for a party! They’ve been a hit for me and Ive been coming up with my own. Thanks guys
CHANCE & MAX... Make sure Sam does more of these. This dish was awesome! The leftovers were even better the next day. SAM!!! Make more of these recipes! This dish was awesome, prepping the night/morning before is extremely convenient and the flavors of leftovers were even better the next day... There is no excuse for fast food when you can make meals like this around your schedule. Might I suggest riffs on: cioppino, jambalaya, seafood boil, Irish stew, beef wellington... (ok, I'm being a little cheeky with that last one, but there are tons of possibilities) Thanks for putting these ideas out there for all of us to enjoy. The better you guys cook, the better we all eat! Cheers!
I do this, but I replace the steak with a sausage like chorizo or kielbasa. I also throw in a few par-boiled tiny potatoes. It basically makes a Southern Shrimp Boil in a pouch. SO good. You can also cook this in the oven if you don't have a grill.
Name is Travis, been a fan as long as I've initially came across your videos. I've been a proponent for the culinary arts since my mom had me prepping in the kitchen at nine. You and your family have displayed exactly what alot of "cooks" want to accomplish. Passion and ingenuity. I commend you for that Sam (and Max/Chance/SlutBong/Kelly....
We make these pouches camping, in RI we camp by the beach, bring everything but the seafood, get our own free lol. But after pouches gone, have steaks or burgers, grilled seafood, fish, clams.. sometimes crab, few lobster if size, always oil and seasoned flour Incase squid, lucky I guess, when permitted to get couple lobsters we bring hot dogs and rolls.. glam camping sometimes, couple friends spear fish also, they really find the lobsters or crabs usually, were stranded once so might've eaten some undersized seafood when ran out of food. Was huge tree down but what a week instead of weekend lol. Thanks Sam. We're going Friday lol. Stop by the club and pick corn🤤. Wish you did this camping, gather own seafood 🤷, if remember your not far from ocean? Tyvm tc
As many times I've gone camping I've never made this. But I'm changing the recipe with chunks of pork, potatoes, carrots, onions, mushrooms' garlic, all spiced up with buttered. putting over indirect heat. Thanks for the idea for my next cookout
Tin foil dinners were the staple of overnight campouts when I was a Boy Scout. Love this! I mean, mine were mostly hamburger patties and sliced potatoes and carrots, but as I got older, they got more adventurous, like dicing the taters and mixing them with the meat, or a boneless chicken breast and rice. Never got to the level of steak and shrimp, though. Awesome video!
made this today to try it out used rib eye , probably going to try a larger shrimp, it killed , easy fast and clean , going to make garlic rice with it.
Goes without saying yet another banger video and I'll definitely make this quick and easy gem. However, one of the most interesting things I've ever learned about you is that you used to have a Briard! I had one years ago that actually came from a breeder near LA. He was tawny and an absolutely amazing dog. At roughly 95 lbs he thought he was a lap dog and had no clue how big he was but such a gentle giant. Anyway, it was great to be prompted with great memories when you mentioned that fact so just had to share and say thank you.
You really made this look fun and easy, not pretentious in any way like a lot of cooking shows seem to be ! I just found your channel and I am so happy.
I love this idea. It looks wonderful. You are right about crusty bread. Is the steak overcooked at 20 minutes. The more you cook steak the more it dries out and shrimp get rubbery when you cook them too long. Really is the steak done done and the shirmp rubbber?
Just did this and it was a huge hit, got a cheap thin cut of meat cause you know first time recipe and so it was overcooked but still everything else was spot on. So if you get some little half inch thick cut of meat maybe put it in halfway through, thats what I plan on trying next time and there will be a next time.
Sam respectfully in regards to shrimp per pound what I think you meant to say is that the smaller the number the FEWER shrimp per pound but they will be larger
Yo, Sam! They make these really cool and cute mini silicon tongs that are perfect for unwrapping foil packets. If the silicon ones are too much, go for the mini stainless tongs. Not quite as cute but sometimes just what the doctor ordered and for good reason. 😂 save your fingertips, use tongs..
we make something similar all the time called trail mix and we use ground beef. those shrimp are going to be waaaay over cooked. the corn is going to take much longer
More foil packet videos please! Awesome for camping 👍🏼
Did a lot of those when I was in BSA, especially for canoe trips.
Asparagus in garlic butter with black pepper and sliced jalapeños....huge bong hit before you eat
Agreed!!
Ooooooo, would love to see a camping food all-in-foil-packet series!!! Greetings from NYC!

Thanks! Yes, I subscribe to Kent too! @@GIBBO4182
Cocaine was my favorite kind of weed
I am soooo making this dish
I paid $44 for similar meal a few months ago.
I’m off to the grocery store now.
Thank you Sam.❤
You did what!? 😲. 😅😅😅
Whomever edited today's video should get a raise! Greetings from NYC!

I makes this a lot. Only difference is I add mushrooms. Beautiful
I am glad you made this . I completely forgot, I use to make this all the time with cod and shrimp , squash , peppers and onions. Thanks
Bob is not my uncle. He's my Dad.

Sam, I am currently without a grill - what would you do differently, or what oven temp would you use? Thanks so much in advance! I must have this!!
This!!
I did a cast iron Dutch oven in the oven at 400 for like 40 minutes, maybe cut your veggies a little smaller so they cook through
This is always on the menu when the guys and I go camping. So many ways to change them up too.

Louis is very much looking like he ain't apologizing for nuffin. And I'm here for it. ❤
But also I freaking love the recipe.
me too lol. Sam should be apologizin fo sho
I feel like you could almost do a faux seafood boil this way. Especially with the stuff that’s already cooked like crab.
1:53 that doog look high as hell 🤣🤣🤣
Agreed, more foil packet videos! Great for camping or having friends over for a party! They’ve been a hit for me and Ive been coming up with my own. Thanks guys
Oh man, this was good. This just opened a new foil wrapped window for everything I go to with fire.
I've made this twice so far and both times was fire !!! I'm making it again tonight 😅 that cumin really brings out the meal !
CHANCE & MAX... Make sure Sam does more of these. This dish was awesome! The leftovers were even better the next day.

I had an Uncle Bob. He left my aunt the day after their youngest finished high school. Solid dude. 😂
We PUMP foil n cast irons for camping: ZERO STRESS folks! EASY!
Bring one random mixed season Har, salt, pepper- it ALL turns out
As an old school boy scout we been doing this for decades easy af and always yummy!!
OH YEAH!! Do that with shrimp, crayfish and alligator...forgot, clams, potatoes, carrots...love roasted radishes!
I do this, but I replace the steak with a sausage like chorizo or kielbasa. I also throw in a few par-boiled tiny potatoes. It basically makes a Southern Shrimp Boil in a pouch. SO good. You can also cook this in the oven if you don't have a grill.
THIS with your garlic butter rice -- YUMMY !
Is it REALLY a "Sam the Cooking Guy" episode if Sam doesn't burn himself?
Funny story about Louis. Your love for your dog is amazing! My hats off to Sam !
Louis is perfect and I 100 percent blame Sam

"The smaller the number the more shrimp per pound"
Surprised Max didn't catch this and tease you.

nobody f's with Louis! LOL

Looks great I’ve been doing similar with ground beef and potatoes onions and peppers for years
I second that more foil recipes. Less clean up.
Foil dinner, cook anywhere there’s heat for real, any protein any veg any seasoning super easy and super good, good job Sam
Goes without saying yet another banger video and I'll definitely make this quick and easy gem.

Such a natural. Love all your stuff and food
Trying to open the foil pack while burning your fingers was an incredibly relatable moment.
I love these kind of easy meals.
That looks mouthwatering!! So delicious
Saving this 😎 looking forward to a fall night beef stew one day!
YUM! What a great idea! Looks delicious!
I love a good “hobo dinner”
I just love how down to earth you are, I love watching!
Your doggy love looks just like you!
BLESS! Louis' heart! He's sorry! (NOW, maybe embarrassed) ... BLESS you BOTH !!! ❤️
This is my first time seeing you w the Pepper Cannon, Glad someone finally showed it to you! There is no substitution aside from mortar and pestle! 🤣
I had two Bob uncles also! I am going to have to make this for sure! It looks delicious!
That's a good DOG!!
The quickness is strong with this one. Good flavor 5min prep meals win every day
I would have thrown Louis on the flattop!
That would be great with your garlic butter rice on the side
When I was in the Boy Scouts, we did something VERY similar calling them Silver turtles. Beef, onion, green peppers and potatoes. mmmmmm
Great for tailgating season.
You really made this look fun and easy, not pretentious in any way like a lot of cooking shows seem to be ! I just found your channel and I am so happy.
Can’t go wrong with that spice combo
Looks delicious! How does the corn get fully done, and doesn't the shrimp get over done?
the boys camera/editing skills are superb! 💪🏻
Shouldn't it be the higher the number the more the shrimp? Or did I misunderstand what your saying?
Louis was probably paying you back for all the times you've screamed at manual laborers who slightly annoy you 😂
Looks fire as always. I'd love to see what you would do with country style ribs (not like baby back ribs more like double bone pork chops but cheaper)
Your knife cut through the corn cob like butter!
Garnished with dog hair 😂
I bet it would be awesome with just some old Bay seasoning.
This is a low country boil, but there is one important thing missing! Where's the Old Bay? Needs more corn too.
Looks delicious. Hold the shrimp for me.
I'm stealing this for my next camping trip. Thanks Sam ^_^
Classic hobo dinner. You can make em from anything you floating around.
Looks great! You should have a hobodinnathon!
How about a cast iron pan upside down pizza?
Definitely gotta try that!
I remember making foil packet meals on camp outs in scouts. This makes me want to do it again so bad!
You were looking for ideas? How about crepes? You could do sweet, savory, simple, etc.
Made this tonight, one word. DAMN!. I will be dreaming about things to add that spice mix to. Well done!
Looks delicious 😋
I love the color of so-called red onions too!
Real life garlic, 2 videos in a row! Death to garlic toothpaste!
I love this idea. It looks wonderful. You are right about crusty bread. Is the steak overcooked at 20 minutes. The more you cook steak the more it dries out and shrimp get rubbery when you cook them too long. Really is the steak done done and the shirmp rubbber?
Greetings from Naples, Florida. Oh, my, that looks so delicious! Awesome presentation. Thanks so much for sharing, have a great week. 👍💯
Louis is THE MAN!😂
Or, or you could slice the top with a very sharp STG knife...say just saying.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I am so surprised that the foil pack you just removed from he grill was HOT! Another for the future Hot Reel!
Love these quick videos!
How about some rice in there too, to cook in all those meat and veggie juices? Have you tried that? How would you adjust the recipe to do that?
“The smaller the number, the more shrimp per pound” 😂 You tried.
Yeah, that bugged me too.
Just did this and it was a huge hit, got a cheap thin cut of meat cause you know first time recipe and so it was overcooked but still everything else was spot on. Yay! I just channeled my “Inner Sam”…and took a not great takeout Souvlaki, and made it into a fantastin Burrito! Thanks Sam! You Rock!!!
Don't mess with Lewis
So you bring the poor dog out for a struggle session? Attaboy comrade 😂
New drinking game idea: Every time Max shoots a fly, take a drink.
Poor Louis! Thanks for sharing the story.
Now You're LIVIN'!!
STCG seasoning puts that's S! On everything!
#FoilPacketSeries coming soon.....
Boy im happy i found your channel!
Hello Sam
Could you please make your own version of the New Haven-style white clam🍕 Thanks 🙏
we make something similar all the time called trail mix and we use ground beef. those shrimp are going to be waaaay over cooked. the corn is going to take much longer
