This is a problem of the deck, not the channel. I wish people didnt vote for the glass cannon type of decks for much abrew, they are almost always kinda bad :(
Alejandro Arturo Pumpido I agree with you that people need to stop voting for these stupid glass cannon decks, but why he's playing "Bad 'Tog" I have no idea why anyone would want to even see that, but he has gotten really bad with the scoops lately. I get wanting to get the video over with but damn.
Idk why he plays combo decks if he’s gonna complain when the combo doesn’t work. There is no middle ground, you either win or lose outright with most combo decks. It’s just a matter of how consistent you make it
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/14-04-18-jund-elves/ It's now up to 17 because i recently reworked the landbase so i could cast things like K-command and Bolt more often instead of just elves, but otherwise the deck list is the one ive been playing for the last year or so. Just used to have more caverns in it and no fetches. I could keep it at 16 if i dropped the forest but i like having one just in case i get Path'd or Ghost Quartered. Despite the greedy landbase i surprisingly dont die to Blood Moon as most of my creatures keep me with mana
Ground Rift seemed very strong, and I think some number of Grapeshot would be good in this deck. I mentioned it before, it can pump Niv Magus and kill opposing blockers.
There's a kiln deck in pauper that is quite strong, but it has access to ponder and preordain to smooth out draws, gitaxian probe and gush as 0 mana spells and temur battle rage to both give your kilns double strike and trample for the win!
Would spirit guide be good in this deck to make the turn two kill more consistent? Like maybe cut a land or two and put in the spirit guides? Also maybe you should only play three tainted strike, because it seems like it really hurts to have multiples, similarly to pauper blitz.
(28:13 - 29:18) Definitely without a doubt, the coolest way of conceding. Hahaha LOL. (And to be perfectly honest in all most likely probability, I do not think that can really be called a punt either. I am not sure in what universe you would have won from that position anyway.)
Yeah, the way our deck is constructed and with our opponent having both a Gideon and the emblem we're basically drawing dead. It was fun to show off what the deck is supposed to do though!
Seems like dreadbore would be a good sideboard inclusion as non-pact removal, and to deal with Gids that are great against singleton creature strategies.
why'd you scoop at 23:28? You could have taken 5 or 10 damage - slaughter pact targeting thalia, then block hierarch with elemental and chump with harbinger. You would have to eat pact, and maybe even on the next turn draw a spell and ground rift the two thalia's lieutenant clones
A single copy of Wings of Velis Vale makes the deck so much more consistent since u find Damage, evasion onto an elemental u can tutor out, that is not a creature and triggers your stuff. And u need only tainted and kiln fiend with harbinger/velis vale to turn 3 kill with only 3 cards.
I spent the entire last match trying to figure out why a deck would be named K-CL aka potassium chloride. The best I could figure out was that it was a "Lite-Salt" deck
23:22 Could definitely have Slaughter pacted the Lieutenant with phantasmal image on the stack. Doubtful it would have necessarily dug you out of that insane humans draw since it would eat your mana next turn though.
Expedite instead of pact of negation + Summoner's Pact over the Intervention pacts. Add 4 Simian spirit guides instead of 4 lands. It makes turn 1 wins possible on the draw, I think? If you could play this with gitaxian probe it would be insane.
Sideboard monastery mentors for longer games and build your monks like you would nivs counters then play all your pacts to trigger all the prowess and swing in, it seems like that would give you another hit so you don't fizzle
so this deck is like: my opponent need to have no discard no removal and no blocker and my hand need to have not too much creatures but enough spells and plz not too much lands. but when this all is true boi is it a great deck ^^
it wasn't until you said this works like an against the odds that i realized this wasn't against the odds... kiln fiend only knows 2 things sweet turn 3 or scoop it up turn 3
28:16 It wasn’t very likely, but you could have won that game. Play blessing on white, slaughter on a token, and tainted strike pumping to 11 infect. Hold the red pact and hope the opponent makes the same line (attacks with all) and doesn’t have removal. Pretty unlikely that they would still make this play. Then on your next turn, if you would payed for the slaughter pact, drawn another pact, and cast both, you could have attacked Gideon for 7 and won. Still loses to blockers and removal so you’re kind of hoping for the stars to align, but it’s a better line than suicide.
I'm about 90% sure that the first opponent watched your Instant Deck Tech. I can't think of another reason they would want to dilute their deck with potentially useless cards to have an answer for a Blood Mood.
Yeah, Assault Strobe is a good backup. Temur Battle Rage is two mana, but the trample upside is nice too. Might be better off just to play a Mono-Red Version.
Ghost26968 yea that's pretty much what I thought. Why play an easy disrupted aggro combo that makes your deck do nothing if they have a removal. In infect we can at least play some protection and the lands can be (harder to block) creatures as well :)
Game 1 he may have brought in nature's claim for a bit of life gain for himself (like against burn), or he could have watched the deck tech and knew about the Blood Moons
Can you not incorporate Gideon of the Trials into this? Free pacts when you don't have a kill is awesome and the deck is practically mono red right now so would be easy to slip the Gideon in.
This deck needs a couple ways to give haste to the creatures, Claim to Fame might be nice

I'm sure there are ten times better Kiln Field decks in Modern. Just start with Pauper version, add Modern mana base and replace non-Modern legal stuff, like blue cantrips with Faithless Looting, maybe add some prowess creatures from burn. Have some Vapor Snags for sure. In the end it will be basically a hybrid of bad infect and bad burn, but still way more of a deck than this pile.
Pact of negation is better than pact of the Titan. It actually has a use. Titan is useless as a resolved spell in this deck. With negation you can counter removal on the turn you win.
joel quinn There aren’t any green creatures to get with Summoner’s Pact, so it’s literally just a 0-mana instant that does nothing in this deck. The other 0-mana instants are more playable since they have 0.01% corner case uses besides being eaten by Nivmagus Elemental. That makes me curious though, are there any green utility creatures worth getting in a similar shell? I can’t think of any off the top of my head. Maybe something that gives hexproof or trample?
So ive seen you try other peoples list and improve on them. Please do that with this list. Its basicly dismantles the opponets deck and gets there on approach. Esper prison in standard.
We did a deck tech for this deck a couple of weeks ago, I don't think we've ever played it (we've played somewhat similar prowess decks, but not with Nivmagus Elemental or Pacts).
yargamafrag There’s a very similar Kiln Fiend deck in pauper that trades the pacts for Temur Battle Rage and cantrips. The old modern lists used to run Temur Battle Rage, didn’t win on turn 2 without rituals
I love against the odds, but these do nothing or win on turn 2 decks are just too boring for me to watch. Nothing but respect and love for you Seth, but that’s just me.
Unfortunate that every time I see people play mtg (an awesome and deep game), the salt levels are always through the roof. Hardly ever see someone just having fun and not throwing low key shade or something.
Seth, I love your videos, but the titles are starting to lose meaning. Just looking at this deck list, this is clearly an against the odds type deck. We need a little bit better and more consistent decks for Much Abrew.
This is a good point. I'm looking into changing things up on Much Abrew (where maybe instead of playing an Instant Deck Tech deck every week we play one every other week, with some less Against the Odds style decks inbetween).
match 1, game 1, nut draw, win game 2, worthless hand that does nothing, keep, lose game 3, worthless hand that has blood moon, keep, lose seth. you need a creature _and_ you need spells.
Opponent: *plays a blocker*
Seth: "that's game"
Omega Gaming yeah its really been starting to push me away from this channel lately.
This is a problem of the deck, not the channel. I wish people didnt vote for the glass cannon type of decks for much abrew, they are almost always kinda bad :(
Alejandro Arturo Pumpido
I agree with you that people need to stop voting for these stupid glass cannon decks, but why he's playing "Bad 'Tog" I have no idea why anyone would want to even see that, but he has gotten really bad with the scoops lately. I get wanting to get the video over with but damn.
This deck belongs to Pauper, that's what happened.
"Not sure how we beat a Gideon... Or any other card that's legal in modern..."
You can pinpoint that as the exact moment that this deck broke Seth's spirit.
Idk why he plays combo decks if he’s gonna complain when the combo doesn’t work. There is no middle ground, you either win or lose outright with most combo decks. It’s just a matter of how consistent you make it
How does this 18 land deck keep flooding out?!
Christopher Willis I ask myself the same question each time I play my aristocrats deck :/
I pretty consistently flood out with 15 land draft decks, so it doesn't surprise me.
I play Jund Elves in modern with 16 lands and I'm constantly asking myself this question. The only time my lack of lands have hurt me is vs. ponza
list?
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/14-04-18-jund-elves/

That was the first time one of ur decks did what it was supposed to on the first try
And only on the first try.
10% of the time, this deck works every time.
To be fair, it worked 30% of the time.
Oh my god you played this garbage I love it.
Nameless inversion might be a worthy 1 of for situations like 9:32 as a noncreature elemenal to search for.
Microwave44 Blades of velis Vel would be a second option
Ground Rift seemed very strong, and I think some number of Grapeshot would be good in this deck. I mentioned it before, it can pump Niv Magus and kill opposing blockers.

Van Hohenheim izzet blitz
There's also that in modern, called Bloo.
Jordan Meyers yeah, i don't like that name but i guess people call it like that
That Dude 22 well, in modern it's not exactly as strong as in pauper i think, but most of the core cards are also modern legal.
Van Hohenheim It's probably better in Pauper. Modern Bloo is basically more late game infect with blood moon.
Me: Ahhh its been a busy weekend, gonna go to sleep and get well rested for work tomorrow.....
(Phone lights up)
Me: *MUCH ABREW?!*
May your dreams be as sweet as this deck.
This was me every weekend during school
Oh when I was at school I did this every night, it was not healthy haha
"At least you lose mercifully fast. That is the upside." That's looking on the bright side!
I'm so glad you guys are doing this deck
Game play at 5:38
22:07 Ground Rift destroys the Phantasmal Images of Thalia's Lieutennant.
The video slipped through my notifications. I saw it go up on twitter but didn't see it here. Anyway, Imma enjoy this. :)
Would spirit guide be good in this deck to make the turn two kill more consistent? Like maybe cut a land or two and put in the spirit guides? Also maybe you should only play three tainted strike, because it seems like it really hurts to have multiples, similarly to pauper blitz.

We could have lived, but I don't think there's any way we can win from that position.
when you will post the the video of the budget monoblack devotion that you played against burn from duskblader 6 days ago?
Wait, how do you know about Mono-Black Devotion? (Also, tonight).
I watched duskblader's stream :)
that laugh at 23:26 LOL
This deck feels like it should run at least two Nameless Inversions for Flamekin Harbinger
I live for that MTGGoldfish notification
A single copy of Wings of Velis Vale makes the deck so much more consistent since u find Damage, evasion onto an elemental u can tutor out, that is not a creature and triggers your stuff. And u need only tainted and kiln fiend with harbinger/velis vale to turn 3 kill with only 3 cards.

K)rark-
C)lan
I)ronworks
The main combo piece
Or you where making a joke I'm not very good at sarcasm if so then
r/whoosh me
Why not run Noxious Revival? It can allow you to recover from losing a creature, or to get Apostle's Blessing back.
You know phantasmal image dies if targeted. For example target it with mutagentic growth, ect.
Cm3 that wasn't the issue the issue was is pumped all the other creatures permanently
23:22
Could definitely have Slaughter pacted the Lieutenant with phantasmal image on the stack. Doubtful it would have necessarily dug you out of that insane humans draw since it would eat your mana next turn though.
Yeah, might have been worth it, even with skipping our next turn (essentially).
Monastery Mentor seems like a great addition!
Has anyone purchased the deck box from the sponsor? It looks super cool and I’m considering buying
A review from the Prof. of a similar product from the same company, in case you're interested:
th-cam.com/video/YXAl-rMmxZQ/w-d-xo.htmlm43s
O no. Our opponent can make 2/2s. Scoop it up.
Dan Pignatari yeah Seth and his gameplays have been taking a fall lately. Not liking the direction the channel has been going.
I feel like you should mulligan more aggressively with this deck
so this deck is like: my opponent need to have no discard no removal and no blocker and my hand need to have not too much creatures but enough spells and plz not too much lands. but when this all is true boi is it a great deck ^^
It they have nothing and we have everything it's the best deck in Modern!
it wasn't until you said this works like an against the odds that i realized this wasn't against the odds... kiln fiend only knows 2 things sweet turn 3 or scoop it up turn 3
28:16 It wasn’t very likely, but you could have won that game. Play blessing on white, slaughter on a token, and tainted strike pumping to 11 infect. It was a fun suicide at least, but you're right, there is a weird combination of things that could happen that might let us win from there.
I'm about 90% sure that the first opponent watched your Instant Deck Tech. I can't think of another reason they would want to dilute their deck with potentially useless cards to have an answer for a Blood Mood.
Any 1 mana double strike spell should be in the deck 4 times as an backup tainted strike. Also try to go down to 16 lands.
Yeah, Assault Strobe is a good backup. Temur Battle Rage is two mana, but the trample upside is nice too. Might be better off just to play a Mono-Red Version.
I love glass cannon
Seth, this is just a bad infect deck. Welcome to the darkside.
Ghost26968 yea that's pretty much what I thought. Why play an easy disrupted aggro combo that makes your deck do nothing if they have a removal. In infect we can at least play some protection and the lands can be (harder to block) creatures as well :)
honestly if he had not drawn land after land (even though there were only 18 lands), it would have been a much better showing
U really kept that hand just because of Blood Moon.... Can't believe it hahaa
How did you win game 1 against tron without dying to you pacts in upkeep
Game 1 he may have brought in nature's claim for a bit of life gain for himself (like against burn), or he could have watched the deck tech and knew about the Blood Moons
What about noxious revival to get them back?
Can you not incorporate Gideon of the Trials into this? Free pacts when you don't have a kill is awesome and the deck is practically mono red right now so would be easy to slip the Gideon in.
In the gideon game why not slaughter pact the gideon when it attacked?
joey Price indestructible
Van Hohenheim ah okay i wasnt paying alot of attention
This might just be me but... why is there no fling in this deck?
Huh... yeah that would definitely help with playing around removal.
is this the deck that finally breaks him?
15:29 couldn't you tainted strike to keep kiln alive?
Also the thing with infect means that the creature would get -1 counters and kitchen Finks wouldn't come back because of persist, so there's that...
Also SO MANY MISPLAYS!
did you see 21:35 that was the worst misplay, opponent tapped out, swing with a 5/6 no blocks, tainted strike in hand... pass the turn
If having a 5/5 on turn 4 is good, why not just play monogreen and all the three mana overpowered creatures you can get?
Ok, 6 Thalia Lieutenants out of 11 cards drawn. Calm the heck down Humans.
5:36 is when the games start
if slaughter pact is the only one that you can pay, why play 3 of it and 4 of the pacts you can't pay?
This deck needs a couple ways to give haste to the creatures, Claim to Fame might be nice
I'm sure there are ten times better Kiln Field decks in Modern. Just start with Pauper version, add Modern mana base and replace non-Modern legal stuff, like blue cantrips with Faithless Looting, maybe add some prowess creatures from burn. Have some Vapor Snags for sure.
In the end it will be basically a hybrid of bad infect and bad burn, but still way more of a deck than this pile.
are you sure that wasn't an against the odds deck?
It feels like one, that's for sure.
I'm surprised this deck isn't packing Gutshots.
How do you flood with less then 20 lands
19 lands seems like too many with all those zero cost spells
Pact of negation is better than pact of the Titan. It actually has a use. Titan is useless as a resolved spell in this deck. With negation you can counter removal on the turn you win.
Why not the green pact?
joel quinn There aren’t any green creatures to get with Summoner’s Pact, so it’s literally just a 0-mana instant that does nothing in this deck. The other 0-mana instants are more playable since they have 0.01% corner case uses besides being eaten by Nivmagus Elemental.

justdude45
Progenitus?
That monstrous 10 mofo from I believe it's (edit)Theros(end edit) that comes out as a 10/10?
Primeval Titan?
Obstinate Baloth?
justdude45 there should be a soul link creature in the 3rd inistrad block that gives either.
Is this the most glass cannon deck in modern?
Nah, the Narset Cannon deck from the other video today is more of a glass cannon.
Infect is also very Glas cannon, so is storm. But those 2 are too consistent to be called glass I think.
David Kriechhammer
Storm is not glass cannon
read my full sentence please :P
David Kriechhammer
If you're just going to contradict yourself in the same sentence, don't bring up the point in the first place please
the glass cannon is real
Can't get turn three Tron when they don't get a turn three
So ive seen you try other peoples list and improve on them. Please do that with this list. Its basicly dismantles the opponets deck and gets there on approach. Esper prison in standard.
THE SPICE!!!!
You know your turn two combo deck is bad when it loses to tron
wasnt there a similar niv-magus deck a while ago played on this channel? :\ i dont like seeing these pump 1 creature decks, they are pretty boring. :\
We did a deck tech for this deck a couple of weeks ago, I don't think we've ever played it (we've played somewhat similar prowess decks, but not with Nivmagus Elemental or Pacts).
I feel like he should've had four pacts of negation so that he's not as vulnerable to counters
You can't cast it without another spell on the stack, so it's bad.
Also Manamorphose and the 1 mana red sorcery that gives double strike
Seems like this deck wants something to give nivmagus trample... and maybe double strike.
yargamafrag There’s a very similar Kiln Fiend deck in pauper that trades the pacts for Temur Battle Rage and cantrips. The old modern lists used to run Temur Battle Rage, didn’t win on turn 2 without rituals
I am aware of the deck and in fact have it build. My comment however was supposed to be slightly tongue-in-cheek ;)
They knew you brought in blood moon because of your name.....
You misspelled against the odds
Also im not sure where the best place to post these things is, so i posted here.
RIP DRS and Git Probe
well, i was about to go to sleep.
not anymore.
I love against the odds, but these do nothing or win on turn 2 decks are just too boring for me to watch. Nothing but respect and love for you Seth, but that’s just me.
Actually, I mostly agree. I think decks like this are fun in small doses, but any more than that and they get old fast.
10% of the time, it works 100% of the time.
Play Illusion tribal!!
Unfortunate that every time I see people play mtg (an awesome and deep game), the salt levels are always through the roof. Hardly ever see someone just having fun and not throwing low key shade or something.

Rescinded due to my own stupidity. Harbinger stacks to the top. Doesn't add to hand.
It would be sooo much better if it went to hand.
This one was so bad even your detractors feel bad for you..
isn't this against the odds?
Pithing Needle on Nivmagus.
Please no.
Oh yeah!
slaughter pact phantasmal image then eat pact...you still kill the image...
match 1, game 1, nut draw, win
game 2, worthless hand that does nothing, keep, lose
game 3, worthless hand that has blood moon, keep, lose
seth. you need a creature _and_ you need spells.
This was a fun video! I think you might like Legend's take on the deck th-cam.com/video/WEMY2ZBp4N4/w-d-xo.html

sorry but i do think my version is stronger www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/464233#paper
This deck... omg, soooo so bad.
It's not all that competitive, but two out of ten games its awesome!
You're right Seth, I just feel sorry for you! Keep up the awesome work, you're the best MTG content creator on youtube hands down! Cheers from Brazil!
This deck is so bad it's not even fun to watch
I'm the 4th comment. Yay
Starting to lose your mojo lately it seems.
Lindzee SouperOCD I think it might be this particular deck's lack of mojo coming through here lol
I was referring to a few other things as well. Sorry if I came off confusing.
This deck is HOT trash.
Yeah, more against the odds than competitive.
Sorry mr olive, I meant to say that this deck is only 4 copies of thing in the ice away from being teir 3. wont happen again mr olive
