Not that the video is boring in any way. But Toyota seemed to have phoned the design in. I had hoped for a move, at least a small step away from the 4x4 box. If anything, it's worse.
As someone who has a family member that is paraplegic and has a vehicle with hand controls I think it’s amazing that Toyota are developing their own accessibility features and equipment to include those with a disability from point of sale. My brother went through quite a long and frustrating process after purchasing his vehicle to finally get it properly fitted out for his needs.
Coming from a driver with a disability, the time, effort, and research that has to go into controls and driving aids like this is huge. To have OEM Hand Controls in a car would be a complete gamechanger
I’m not in the market for this type of vehicle, but think it looks fantastic. Love the retro in and out. Also love the look of the Lexus too. Good work Toyota!
I had an order in with Toyota AU for a VX, deposit down and everything but cancelled due to the hybrid not coming. Amazing that after 14 years the new model has the old engine. I’ll be looking again when the hybrid is here as I do have a lot of time for the brand. Any seats but black for me 👍
Yep, am similarly holding out til a hybrid option comes. Guess my 250k KM hilux will have to keep hauling for another year or so. If they haven’t announced a hybrid in that time frame, don’t know what I’ll do. Can’t afford a 300 series, don’t think the PHEV in the Everest is the right choice… not sure what else I’ve got to choose from in that kind of configuration.
Love the look of these. Pity we aren’t getting the round headlight version. I had to pull the trigger on the outgoing model. Signed up in March 2022 and got delivery ~18 months later. Couldn’t wait for the new model and the waiting list is bound to be lengthy. Happy enough though. $88k d/away on a Kakadu. They may be ancient but they really are decent cars, and I’m coming out of a 2020 Audi S3 sedan.
What I understood is that many features weren't for Australia or Aussies. And what's more frustrating is that those missing features will be added in the years to come with a new price tag ! This has been happening since some time especially with Car manufacturers!
The fuel capacity and the question of an optional barn door/spare wheel on the back are the two things stopping me from upgrading at this stage. Everything else is solid. I want a minimum of 150L fuel capacity.
You mean with the existing diesel engine? It's from the Hilux, 2.8L turbo diesel. The "48V" isn't technically a hybrid as it can't actually power the car to move, but rather, it'll look after some of the electrics in the car. I wouldn't expect huge fuel savings
Yeah as a LC owner 100k for the “lesser” Prado variant is too much. But I suppose that’s where things are heading. As for the “mustard” colour… that needs to stay with the old school 40, 70 and old school 60 series variants. The Prado is a “city” vehicle and should be placed as a mainstream player for Blacktop parents with the occasional minimal off road calling IMHO. But I concede it can do much more and potentially be great (having not seen it in action!)
I am getting tired of waiting for these things to "get here"! I have had a VX Cruiser on order for nearly 12 months. Then they go and start talking about the 250. What the heck!! I love the look of the rectangular headlight version and the boxy look. So, what is going to happen to the "Prado" 250 ?? How long would I have to wait for a order to be verified let alone a delivery!! I seem to get more info out of TH-cam than I do out of my dealer. They just give me a bit of a shrug of the shoulders and suggest TH-cam. What is a man to do!! I love my Toyotas and would consider nothing else. Maybe i'll just keep my GXL 200 series. Even with it's 240,000km on the clock. (man I love that thing).
How does it compare to the Ford Everest? $100k for a diesel four pot Toyota everyman machine will be a barrier I’m not going to jump. So, back to how does it compare to the Ford Everest Sport or Platinum?
Perhaps a video discussing pre vs post pandemic auto pricing would be popular? Seems like every recent release is $10-$20k above the outgoing comparable model. Or is it just me?
Registered interest, booked to go and pay $1k deposit at the dealer - then cancelled my visit when they announced the engine for Aus. Not good enough Toyota!😢
I think the interior feels higher quality in this new Prado at first impression. Everest is decently made I think, but the Platinum feels like a veneer of poshness on a workhorse cabin, whereas this Prado feels - well, like more than a workhorse
Well what’s the towing capacity would hope up from 3000kgs And the tank range As most will use beyond the suburban school run! Let’s hope it’s function matches the tuff form!
I was waiting for these to drop as I test drove the outgoing model and found it to be ancient and outdated. Excited when these were announced but disappointed with the motor offering and have decided to look elsewhere - they really need a hybrid option
@@grantgray8688 now based on the fact that it uses 300 series ladder frame chassis, it means that most of the under body components would be bit similar including fuel tank i.e 110 liters. Let's hope it doesn't get the same location for fuel filter which is next to the spare wheel under the tail end. A very dangerous spot where it easily gets broken.
@@grantgray8688 I'd say the under Prado would give you easily much more range than 250 series Prado, once it landed, because it's heavier, same engine and less fuel tank capacity. It's no where near 150 series Prado when it comes to range.
With the weak AUD$, it won't be a surprise that the next Gen Prado will be significantly more expensive. Faithful Prado owners might cross shop and have another look at the Ford Everest with the V6 diesel.
People said the same when new Prado 150 was revealed in late 2009. Even in late 2007 when the new Land Cruiser was revealed. People assumed it's the end and stuff.

Hi Tom, great video as usual.)))))
Has the dodgy DPF been properly re-engineered?
no
THE PEOPLE WANT THE LAND CRUISER MINI!!!
The new silhouette is what has been lacking since the 1st generation Prado. The interior is masculine at last.
When we get the petrol I’ll buy one

If they bring out the 300 series and prado with petrol then they have a possible winner

Agree, what a shame using the asthmatic 2.8 diesel engine 😢
Toyota Australia evaluated it and turned it down.
@chasingcars huge error of judgement IMO 😢

I don't need the 3rd, so please send us the petrol option

It does, though the turbo petrol V6 GX550 will be a fair bit thirstier than the diesel Prado in the real world

Just wait for the after market parts. You will be able to swap out the square for the round as they should be the same internal size

YES for the interior design, NO for the exterior. Looks like SUV from 90’s. Which is a big NO NO for me
I hope this comes too the Philippines
No one seems to know if any of the new Prado models will retain the air rear suspension the current Kakadu offers. Makes it a really neat towing rig.
with air suspension or without air suspension is better.
All black with Led lights 😊
Leave it in the showroom for $100K

As I said I would, I gave my first impressions
Will there be a version of this with the secondary fuel tank/long range?

Nope
A lot of black interior. The previous prado in the white interior was very nice. Any information for the new prado?
Black interior means hell in hot summers. specially in mid-east.
Car makers are going stupid to eliminate the all beige or grey interior from options
Look so good love the heritage style, big disappointment is not full hybrid
just wish we had a bigger engine option
Price gouging still rampant.
Let's see how a recession cleans that up.
Well what’s the towing capacity would hope up from 3000kgs
And the tank range As most will use beyond the suburban school run!
