honestly, even if it couldn't make large hp figures (it obviously can, im just saying), so what? its still a 2.0 liter 4 banger, what do people expect? shaming the EJ for having "low power" is like laughing at a veyron for not being able to fly. the engineers designed the engine to handle the stock 300hp and it sure as hell can hold that power reliably. anything extra that you can squeeze out is just a bonus. if you want a 1500hp engine then go make your own damn engine yourself and not complain all day about an engine not being able to handle what it was never meant to have lol.

Stigma isn't they can't make power its that they can't make it reliably
Any angine can make dumb amounts of power if you throw enough money and tine at it. In general these engines will still blow up under a small amount of boltsons unless you are skilled at this.

A properly setup Subaru is just as quick if not quicker than an Evo - a lot of people just don't know how to build them right. I've been seeing more and more Subarus in street racing vids though so hopefully the blueprint gets out there.

I definitely made the wrong choice when I got into subies 12 years ago. Thousands of dollars later and I'm still not where I want to be. So a few months ago she was retired to be a daily and we've started on an AWD K-series hatch build. I should have never left the Honda game to begin with, lesson learned.
Ok, that’s you! Let the people who can actually afford to build them build them. Plenty of people building these to stupid numbers now that it’s getting a lot more common. If you build anything, it will be expensive, lol. In the Subaru game, you need to have time, precision, and patience.

Check out Andy Forrest's Stormtrooper. Ran 7.7 in about 2015. And it was used for time attack at the same time. Was turned into a world time attack monster.

But your question was "has any subie ran faster" you didn't mention anything about sti or the 2.5. This gen WRX/STI didn't even come with a 2.5. All ej20 except the 22b which was an ej22. I'm assuming you mean, has any US spec run faster?
