Hey Friendly, you need to s l o w down the presentation. You blast through everything so fast one can not comprehend. As there are many steps in the process of setting up VPN I think pictures would be better than just words. I'm not a newbie on this stuff but it is easy to get lost in the weeds on VPN.
Good morning Paul. Realize this is an old video but I have an older Orbi BR50 that works fine with the limited options my ISP provides. I have recently retired (hint, limited tech knowledge) and will be traveling more and would like secure remote access to my home network esp. my NAS. Is there anything you would update/change about the process before I take the plunge? Also, will this change anything about the normal device usage? My wife still works from home and I don't need her to even know anything has changed! BTW, your presentation is spot on, clear, precise and easy to follow. I am now a subscriber and look forward to learning more.
I followed all your instructions exactly as shown, but my connection fails. You don’t have to port forward anything in your router? I have read other tutorials that say you need to do this?
Hi so I followed your instructions for setting up DDNS and OpenVPN. I need to be able to RDP to my host computer connected to my router. I'm having issues doing this using the hostname I created during the DDNS process. Do I need to open the RDP port 3389? I didn't think I would have to do this with the VPN in place. I am able to RDP using my IPv4 address...but that changes every so often. Your videos are very informative thanks for making them!
I get no information in the dialog window. I only get one line in the logs: "ENTER MANAGEMENT PASSWORD:" - but no window into which to enter a password. Current State just stays on "Reconnecting"
Do you think it would be possible to use a VPN on the Deco M9 plus? I don't think so, so I bought a Archer C9 to install a VPN on. Thinking about going with Nord VPN which is $107 for 3 years right now.
Is it possible to not use the VPN after its installed and operational? for e.g. say I am working from home on a rainy day and my office laptop needs to use an office specific VPN instead of my router VPN? Can I bypass, on this laptop, the VPN tunnel of my router and instead use the office one? Also, while I am doing this, can the other home devices continue as normal without any config change?
Can I use the built-in VPN config on Android, iOS, or Windows instead of downloading a client app? If so, where do I find the settings I need to manually set up?
Barely covers the basics and, for Windows, apparently assumes the User is on an Ethernet connection. What about WiFi connections when the TAP Adapter only shows on the LAN Connection. Very confusing and incomplete for the novice.
So I got DDNS setup, downloaded the config file directly to openvpn connect, but now it just sits there trying to connect. Do I need to open the port? Or is it automatic?
Hello. I followed this tutorial with my Orbi setup in MacOS, but the Tunnelblick app shows "Waiting for server response" endlessly. I get the following error automatically highlighted in red: TLS Error: TLS key negotiation failed to occur within 60 seconds (check your network connectivity) 2020-06-22 00:49:44.129408 TLS Error: TLS handshake failed 2020-06-22 00:49:44.129768 SIGUSR1[soft,tls-error] received, process restarting Is anyone able to shed any light on how to get this resolved, please?
After following the steps in this video, will my public IP be masked with a new location IP. o I need to acquire a client-based VPN license? Am trying to setup NordVPN on my Orbi router.... Kindly guide on how I can have it done. Many thanks
@@aderfigueroa - do you mean that just using the Orbi and a computer client (like Tunnelblick in MacOS) isn't sufficient to make a connection? We need a seperate hardware VPN host at home when connecting from outside of home??

Does this method work in lieu of subscribing to a VPN provider such as ExpressVPN or Surfshark? Or do you still need to do that?
Steps are missing ( Dynamic DNS and Port Forwarding ) if I want to use Hotspot shield VPN or ExpressVPN Thanks

If I set this up on my computer will the VPN work for every device that is connected to my router?
Hello, could you tell me what do you mean by "connecting to an outside network" when do you set up with Mac. Thanks
Is there a way to add an SSL certificate for the VPN connection to use? (ie, letsencrypt)

do some movie video on express vpn, nordvpn, surfshark vpn and pia vpn on orbi router thanks
Hmm... Setup a Dynamic DNS like your linked video but VPN Service is greyed out and not accessable?

how many VPN clients does Orbi support?

Perfect
So I can connect fine with the Mac OpenVPN software but the Windows one. So weird. Log file is useless.

I have this issue too. Did you find out the solution?
I did but I can’t remember what I did. Sorry. I think my issue was I was trying to connect while already on the same network.
Does this slow down ur wifi
Misleading title inbound only no outbound, seems like rdp only more complicated

OpenVPN status is continuously yellow/not connecting. Thoughts?
did you find a solution?
Did you get this to work eventually? I am having the same issuem :-(
Getting the same issue no. Tries to connect and no feedback from the log
Is it possible to configure VPN when the router is in AP mode?
Humberto Gonçalves u will need a home vpn server to connect to your home router from long distance even a different state or a country..
Hey Paul is there a way to tunnel the VPN to specific devices only?
Did you ever find how to do that?
@@bobsmithy3103 probably should be able to config the openvpn file
That was as clear as mud. You skipped some important steps.
You didn't show how to remotely access a device on your home wifi.
OpenVPN no longer supports Orbi, is there another way to set up a VPN?
That's incorrect.
Mines yellow. :(
Looks like only TCP works for me but it is working at least. Thanks for the informative video.
Can you do a video for Linux ...All my desktops are Linux based
Can I hire you to install my orbi vpn?
Sorry - Not likely
Matt Yerkes hey its very easy to do. But you need to a Home Vpn server

Borderscout W Ovpn
Couldn't see the screens. Too blurry.
useless... open VPN and Orbi never works on windows
Horrible, you made it sound like this was installing on the router itself...
NO!!! Android is not the same at all. Thanks for nothing.
