The forward facing view and slower pace have enabled me to see things I have never noticed before when travelling as a passenger, which makes it a very interesting video, I look forward to Part 2.
Wunderbar! Danke.
I was the ninetieth person to see this fantastic video I have seen it three times and, without any doubt from my side, it is so far, the best railroad video posted on the Internet. Didactic. Great Geography class. Congratulations, dear friends.
Great video with nice landscapes. Didn't even know that Switzerland has the fifth largest tunnel in the world at a length of 34.1 kilometres. I have travelled on U Tube across Switzerland so many times and yet this is the first time that I have come across such a lengthy tunnel in the country.
Mir fehlt einfach was. Nostalgiker? Ja, glaube schon.
The base tunnel has certainly speeded up freight working a lot, but it does seem a pity that the only chance for passengers to travel over the old route now is by local EMU. A lot of people come to see the scenery!
That is true, but it is a choice that passengers can make. If you need to go fast (like the majority of passengers), you take the Intercitys. If you want to enjoy the look out of the window, you take the slower regio trains. Same in the Gotthard region.
Also, nochmals danke!
Did you make a video of you passing through the Simplon tunnel? It's the oldest long tunnel in the world, with one tube being finished in 1906. The entrance to it was just behind you when you started filming in Brig.
Thanks for the wonderful video. One question: I have noticed this several times in your and others videos. What is the meaning of the sign at 50:52 (the round sign with an "H")? Thanks.
It shows that a small stop (in contrast to a proper train station with signals and switches) follows in stopping distance. The H stands for "Haltestelle" in German.
I am puzzled that you say that the tunnel section was cut down by 34 minutes. The train left Brig at 06 50. It arrived at Spiez at about 28m 40s of the video, with an IC8 train just leaving from an adjoining platform. I think this was almost certainly IC 809 due from Spiez 07 25! Judging by other passenger trains we saw, especially EC51 Basel to Milano, and by the station clock at Lyssach which clearly showed 08 25 as our train passed through, IC 809 was not running late! I thnk only about 10 minutes of the tunnel was cut out!
I have just checked and you are (almost) right. I cut the tunnel sequence about approx. 18 minutes. The whole run through the tunnel does take 21min with that speed, so the first info can't be true. I have fixed the info in the description and thanks for your feedback.
Tolles Video!
There was some odd routing on the approach to Bern. Why would the signaller get you to switch back and forth between tracks so much? There didn't appear to be any works or other trains to go around.
They see the whole network and decide what makes sense and what not. Its quite complicated and all other trains and their priority (intercity, commuter, freight) play a role in those decisions.
@@RailwayEmotions That makes sense. I'm not used to bidirectional running being the norm: here in Australia bidirectional signalling is rare, so trains almost always run on the same track all the time.
It's the exact opposite here, our trains normally run on the left side, but most tracks are equipped with signals on both sides and both directions. It makes the whole system a lot easier to handle and allows us to pass a disturbance on the other track without special instructions.
If the engines are 10/10 configuration Re420+Re620 are there two drivers or is the power of the second engine controlled by the front engine? And if there is a second driver, as he cannot see the signals how does he know when to reduce power or accelerate(I appreciate the tripls warning bleeps indicate a need to reduce power/speed but the details of speed restriction would not be visible in second driver's cab. Sorry ihf it's a silly question
Railway Emotions I kind of guessed that really but how are they linked? electronically?.. thanks for the reply . I love Switzerland and am very frustrated at not being able to visit yet again this year die to the pandemic
@@RailwayEmotions Sorry I assumed it was Domodossola as stated as the starting point. Further a very nice video . I missed also the BLS shop at Spiez but I learned it will be rebuilt in a more practical form.
I wish it was Domodossola, but for now, we don't get there and therefore can't film that section (yet?). Often an italian driver brings the train over, we get in at Brig and continue further.
In darkness? Not a good idea. But there is an outside shot of the train visible in the second part of this video in Lausen, quite close to the end of the video.
Olá, amigo! Gostei do vídeo! Obrigada pelo passeio! Abraços.
Valleys and hills shrouded in morning fog look beautiful.

Hallo;
At this video you have passed in total 1 railroad level crossing and under 38 (bridges and tunnels).

I have not yet recorded a cab ride through the Simplon.
@@RailwayEmotions OK, but I'm confident you'll eventually do one.

Hi, great effort!, it is such a shame that for the first half the picture is blurry and in darkness or tunnels you cannot make anything out.
That's how it looks like early morning and in tunnels, but you'll see clear images after approx. 16min of the video. Part 2 will continue in daylight.

One of the best of yours videos. The line descriptions are outstanding. Maybe, it will be nicer if recorded in 4K. Thanks.
Thanks! Since I don't own any 4K equipment for now, I will stick to FullHD. But I will surely upgrade sooner or later.
@@RailwayEmotions Maybe consider GoPro 7 Black. Best regards.
Yeah, I was about to say the same thing. 1080p doesn't do it justice.
I heard real life is best resolution.

Good evening ! Sometimes passenger double-decker trains pass by. Are they suburban or long distance ?
The IC2000 is a long distance train
Excellent ! Just the right amount of (very informative) captioning - a tedious and tiresome job, especially in two languages. Much appreciated.

Additional machines are always controlled by the leading machine.

Is this train electric? Oh it is! That is amazing!
I missed some items > The Simplon tunnel, Brig station. 10 minutes in the ride we are suddenly at Visp near the base tunnel entrance?????
You certainly missed where the video starts, which is Brig.

Too much trouble to provide a shot of the locomotive and/or train at the outset to set up this trip? Otherwise pretty nice video.

Why don't the oncoming trains put their lights onto low beam?
They're all in low beam. High beam is rarely used on trains.

You haven't switched to SBB Cargo, or was this arranged with the help of a friend?
You will still see passenger trains, along with cargo, in the future. Cargo is a bit harder to film though, since more freight trains run at night.
