One foot in the Church and one foot in the World matches perfectly where the Church is. We as a Church are still under condemnation for treating the teachings of the Book of Mormon lightly. The organization of the Church embodies this. We as a Church need to REPENT or we stand at risk of God's Judgements. But it has been prophesied that "(U)pon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord; First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house, saith the Lord." "And pray for thy brethren of the Twelve. Admonish them sharply for my name’s sake, and let them be admonished for all their sins, and be ye faithful before me unto my name."
I’d like to invite you to consider a different perspective based on your comment. When people read the Book of Mormon, they often come across the story of Nephi and his efforts to obtain the plates of brass. In that process, Nephi ends up taking the life of Laban, the keeper of the plates. The Lord made it clear that it was better for one man to die than for an entire nation to be deprived of the scriptures. From a worldly viewpoint, it’s easy to see Nephi as a murderer and a thief. Your perspective seems to align with this view, and of course, you are free to choose this. But I encourage you to ask yourself: Are you seeing this through the lens that the Lord is using? The Lord often gives direction to His prophets that doesn’t make sense to others. Imagine living at the time of Noah, watching him and his sons build an ark. The people must have thought Noah was crazy, building a huge boat in the middle of the desert. What perspective did they have that differed from that of Noah, a true prophet of God? It’s also important to note that prophets are often not told why they are instructed to do something; they simply obey out of faith and trust in the Lord. For example, Adam and Eve offered sacrifices to the Lord without knowing the reason. It wasn’t until an angel appeared and asked, "Why dost thou offer sacrifices unto the Lord?" that Adam replied, "I know not, save the Lord commanded me" (Moses 5:6). This teaches us that sometimes obedience comes before understanding. Even our Savior, Jesus Christ, was called a criminal. In fact, the Chinese government is currently rewriting the Bible to depict Jesus as a murderer rather than a Savior. It's true-feel free to look it up. Now, let me paint for you a possibility of events unfolding. The world is literally controlled by those opposed to freedom, who are working to make all people dependent by all means possible-through taxation, regulation, and changing laws. This same group, not unlike the Gadianton robbers in the Book of Mormon, are stealing the wealth of the people for their own personal gain. These same people are targeting all individuals and organizations that have not aligned with them in their efforts to rob the nation and create dependence among the people. Might the Church need to protect its assets for a time to allow the work of the Lord to advance in such conditions? Might the Lord give direction that His work of salvation through covenants is more important than anything else, not unlike Nephi obtaining the brass plates? These are some thoughts to consider in the context of the perspective I’m offering. I wish only to help you and give you hope. It’s also important to remember that it’s never this cut and dry-meaning not everyone who should be on the "good team" is always there, and not everyone on the "bad team" is permanently aligned with those efforts. A reference to Heber C. Kimball comes to mind, and I’ll share a link below. I suggest that you watch the whole thing and pay close attention to the video between the 2 and 3-minute mark. @Veevslav1 I admire your courage and honesty. As you read the BofM, it's clear to see how today's church does not follow its teachings. The church leaders just about got away with teaching a false and sanitized version of its history. Still no apologies or repentance. It changes the restoration under the guise of continuing revelation. It hid the accumulation of mass wealth through illegally hiding and not reporting until caught. Yet, it failed to repent and brushed it off as no big deal. It fails to acknowledge the vast wealth of it's paid ministry on the corporate level. Again, only acknowledging when backed in a corner. It changes the temple ceremonies and covenants that Joseph says was by revelation and can not be altered. It's only when enough members know about these things, and call it out that the church will become a little more transparent. The church is led under the same playbook as what it teaches about Satan. Satan wanted to take away free agency. The church essentially does the same. It cares not about doing the right thing as long as its image looks good to the world. The truth is hard to swallow. Truth sometimes hurts to the core. But Christ heals and wants all to know Him and His true gospel. In the name of Jesus Christ, 🙏
Knowledge, then humility to love beyond the yoke and tyranny of obsolescence. Doing and embracing the journey is the lesson. Remember God will break you down before he can help build you up.
President Hinckley said years ago that these three will make it possible for you to be well off when the snow flies: 1. get out of debt, 2. build a savings (I do those at the same time so I quit using my card) and 3. develop and use a food, hygiene, etc. storage. And paying tithing is like frosting on the cake. I pay my church donations first, then give the maximum amount I feel that I can to savings, then I pay my bills. I try to give 2-3 times what I may owe in a small debt, but ideally, you need to pay it off the next month, I think it is…you want to avoid accruing interest. And if you have enough savings, a credit card is not necessary. Not sure about developing credit, what you need that for, it would sure be nice if a savings would suffice, but I do not know the rules.
How do I prepare temporally if I don't have an income. I am so poor financially. Food storage is nit an option when I receive my food through charity. As well as the other things I need to stay alive. Should I fear?
My dear friend if you were in my neighborhood I would adopt you into my home. I started my journey of putting some food away with nothing but a prayer and a desire to change my circumstances. I would go to neighbors who had an apple tree and ask if I could pick some of their apples to bottle them. I surrounded myself with friends who were like minded and we would pool our resources to bottle and fry a little food for the future. The principle of preparing is a spiritual one. Miracles will happen as you seek to build an ark against a time of uncertainty.
The principle of preparedness begins with spiritual readiness, which is often the area where people are least prepared. While physical preparation, such as food storage and emergency kits, is important, it is even more crucial to be spiritually prepared for the challenges and trials that come our way. The scriptures emphasize the importance of spiritual preparedness. In Doctrine and Covenants 45:57, we are reminded, "For they that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived-verily I say unto you, they shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but shall abide the day." This verse underscores the necessity of being spiritually guided and prepared so that we can withstand the trials of the last days. Consider the Israelites during their 40-year journey in the wilderness. The Lord provided manna to sustain them physically, but that extended journey was only necessary because they were not spiritually prepared to enter the Promised Land. Their lack of faith and spiritual readiness led to delays and additional trials. Deuteronomy 8:3 explains that God fed them with manna "that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live." Are you engaging in daily scripture study, prayer, and truly desiring with your whole heart to be on the Lord’s team? Doctrine and Covenants 33:17 advises, "Wherefore, be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the Bridegroom." Just as the wise virgins in the parable of the ten virgins kept their lamps filled with oil, we must continually fill our lives with the Spirit and be ready to meet the Lord. Spiritual preparation is about aligning our lives with the teachings of Jesus Christ, ensuring that we are not only physically ready but also spiritually fortified to face whatever comes.

By bringing all that you can to the table and seeking opportunities to be physically prepared, you are doing your part. Trust that the Lord will provide what you need in the very moment of need. Mormon died a long time ago. This is a message from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Elder David A. Bednar is a modern living apostle of Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Bible and the Book of Mormon both testify of the divinity of Jesus Christ and work together to declare God’s word. Here’s how the two sacred texts complement each other and why we believe in the calling of Joseph Smith as a prophet. Paul’s writings in the Bible, such as his epistles, are central to Christian teachings. He affirmed the role of Jesus Christ as our Savior, saying in 1 Corinthians 3:11: “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” Paul also taught about the gifts of the Spirit, prophecy, and revelation continuing in the church, as seen in Ephesians 4:11: “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers.” We believe that God’s pattern of calling prophets has continued throughout history. We believe that after the original apostles were martyred, the authority to lead Christ’s church was lost for a time, resulting in the need for a Restoration. Amos 3:7 affirms that “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” This belief in the need for ongoing revelation is foundational in our faith, which is why we see Joseph Smith as a modern prophet, restoring truths that had been lost. Joseph Smith's prophetic role is seen as fulfilling this principle of continuous revelation, with Revelation 14:6 describing an angel bringing the "everlasting gospel," which we interpret as referring to the Restoration and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. Just as the Bible is the word of God, we believe that the Book of Mormon is an additional witness of Jesus Christ. It is not meant to replace the Bible but to stand alongside it in confirming the divinity of Christ. 2 Corinthians 13:1 says, “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” The Bible and the Book of Mormon together serve as two witnesses of Jesus Christ’s mission and His gospel. Furthermore, the Bible references the uniting of the “stick of Judah” and the “stick of Joseph” in Ezekiel 37:16-17, which reads: “Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah... then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph... And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.” Latter-day Saints interpret this as a prophecy regarding the coming together of the Bible (the stick of Judah) and the Book of Mormon (the stick of Joseph), both testifying of Christ. This joining of records strengthens our understanding of God’s dealings with His people on different continents and times. Both scriptures teach the same fundamental principles of faith in Christ, repentance, and the need for baptism by proper authority (see John 3:5 and 2 Nephi 31:5). They also both affirm that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 tells us, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Similarly, the Book of Mormon teaches in 2 Nephi 25:26, “And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ.” While Paul’s writings are from the Bible and Joseph Smith is a prophet who brought forth the Book of Mormon, we see them as part of the same divine plan. Both testify of Jesus Christ and work together to guide us back to Him. We are grateful for continuing revelation and for the truths restored through Joseph Smith, while also cherishing the teachings of the Bible. I encourage you to prayerfully study both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, seeking guidance as promised in James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God.” We believe God continues to speak to His children today, just as He did in ancient times.

Acts 4:12 tells us, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Similarly, the Book of Mormon teaches in 2 Nephi 25:26, “And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ.”
While Paul’s writings are from the Bible and Joseph Smith is a prophet who brought forth the Book of Mormon, we see them as part of the same divine plan.
@@TheWordsofChrist we will be judged by Paul's gospel. He was given that MYSTERY gospel not known before the world began. Romans 16:25. I pray for anyone who is in deception of our subtle enemy. How cunning he is. 😢
