      @@indigogirl8573 I do, yes. I use the Redken Volume Injection Shampoo & Conditioner to wash/condition in the shower. I use the leave-in exactly how Chris demonstrates, using 6-8 pumps (very little product), work it from my mids-to-ends, then use a pea-sized amount of the blow dry jelly (also from mids-to-ends), brush my hair using my Wet brush and then dry & style. Afterwards, I use about 1 1/2 drops of the Olaplex on my ends.

    It makes me feel better that you said leave in conditioners should be a spray. I’ve always hated using leave in creams on my hair whether I leave it in its natural curly state or when I blow dry and straighten. I feel like it’s too heavy and weighs by hair down. Would also really love to see you do a collab with a pro on naturally curly hair.

      @@BlowoutProfessor I just started binge watching your videos and just stepped up my routine. I aleady had most of the products you mentioned except the Olaplex no. 7 bonding oil. The olaplex product you showed in this video is not the oil so do you put it on with the Redken blow dry jelly or after you dry it? Can I use the Olaplex no. 7 bonding oil instead? I'm alittle confused.
      1) I use volume injection shampoo and conditioner.
      2) I use Pureology leave in conditioner, the right amount 😊
      3) Redken blow dry jelly and dry.
      *If I let my hair air dry than I use Kenra Professional thermal styling spray 19 instead and once it's dry I use a flat iron or curling iron.
      4) Then I use the Olaplex no. 7 bonding oil after it's dry. Whether I let it air dry or I blow dry it.

I had cut my long hair I had worked years to grow out in hopes to get some life back into my hair.I had loved my length but it just looked sooo damaged and sad, I thought only doing the "chop" would help. But of course 2 years later my hair was still dry and lifeless and seemed to grow slower than ever. After watching your video on the holy trinity I added two things to my hair routine, leave in conditioner , and hair oil. My hair came to LIFE!! I unfortunately have been there. I got highlights and she fried my hair. I got Redkin deep repair shampoo and conditioner. A leave in conditioner and just let it air dry as much as possible. Only on a date or somewhere special did I straighten the frizzy damage mess. I made sure to use a good heat protection. It took about a year before all the damage grew out. Even after many hydrating treatments and trims. Now I have the products he's suggested and I am ready to have a health hair routine for years.

      I have extremely thick and frizzy hair that techinally doesn't need washing at all, no oil is released from my scalp whatsover. Whether I wash once a month or not for six months doesn't matter. I wash every six weeks now, but thinking about stopping the washes. My hair which is halfway gray because of age and very long gets super stressed after every wash and takes weeks to calm down. How often are you washing now? With my hairtype there really is no point to washing, is all I can say. I only do it because I feel that I "have" to do it sometimes. It doesn't even come to a point of itching. Would love to wash it everyday when I shower, and feel the water on my scalp, but if I did that, I can't even imagine the damage. My boyfriend that has fine Finnish smooth hair was grossed out when he found out how rarely I wash. I explained to him that it's this way or short hair and he didn't comment on it anymore 😅 He also can confirm to me that it doesn't smell or get oily and it looks very healthy. I'm always getting compliments. My hair just loves being left alone, except for leave in conditioner and hair oil and brushing. And after each wash straightening also. And it's in a loose braid almost always and protected under hats and jackets 8 months out of every year.

    I watch your videos every morning. You make sense to me, compared to other Hair Stylists' videos. I've purchased your recommended products, and began my hair journey a few days ago. Backstory; my blonde, middle of my back, fine hair was chemically chopped off a couple of yrs ago, and I haven't been able to grow it past my earlobes since (mostly in the front). It's heart breaking; my hair has always been my staple. I've been wearing tape-in hair extensions to fill in the gaps. I also removed those a couple of days ago. I do not like how my hair looks (length, uneven) but it feels liberating not to have them stuck to my head. Anyway... I really feel hopeful with your suggestions. Since watching your videos, and reviewing your recommended product list, little by little I started changing the way I treated my hair. First let me say that I’m in my 60’s and haven’t been very kind to my hair since I was about 50. So, I figured what the heck, nothing to lose and everything to gain, and started first with changing my brush and using Pureology Leave-In spray and noticed the difference right away. 🙂
    Then I added Olaplex oil (just recently - only one application so far). But, in this video you said to apply to dry hair. Uh oh, I thought you had said to apply it after the leave-in spray…while my hair was still wet. Yes, I know, in the video you were applying it to dry, styled air, so I’m a dummy! Lol
    99% of the time I let my hair air dry, as it is just below my shoulders and has some curl and wave to it, but when it's dry I'm usually not home, so applying the oil isn't the easiest thing to do. BUT - since your advice has been working so far (also just purchased the recommended shampoo), I’m changing up my routine to allow time to apply the oil before leaving the house. So glad I watched this video - thank you Chris!! I'm living proof that you really CAN teach an old dog new tricks!

    Love the tips, as usual, but having porous hair unfortunately doesn't allow me to "go light" on oil, haha. I apply it like 2, 3 times a day, and thermal/shine spray when finishing a section after using the rotating brush.
    Blowdry creams are my favorite, coarse hair girl here, haha. However, Rebel Tame didn't give the results I wanted. I prefer applying the leave in from Redken Extreme Bleach Recovery, plus a heat protecting oil, Ciment Thermique from Kerastase, or Trauma Treatment from L'anza.

And the hair oil I use is the Sweet Almond hair oil

    I love your videos, I took your advice stopped bleaching my hair and used the redken hair repair product, I already had professional shampoo and conditioner and I added the olaplex and I could see a difference in my hair after only one treatment with my treatment, hair mask, leave in treatment and the hair oil, I have been washing my hair everyday not knowing any better bc that's what I was taught, so I bought the shower cap with the terry lining and am starting my 3 days from wash starting today I'll definitely update you on the progress and I'm already seeing the progress I was fortunate enough to keep pretty healthy hair even tho I was washing drying and straightening it everyday, but I was already doing the mask and leave in conditioner with a different oil so I can't wait to see how healthy it's going to get bc it is already shiny and beautiful and I know this will just make it healthier. I love my hair and have always been big on hair care and am so thankful to you and your channel

    I love these videos and I am going to start doing the haircare trilogy today! I am so excited to get my hair healthy. I have seriously binged so many of the videos over the last few days since finding you! I am wondering if you can do one talking about sulfates and silicones in products. I am always so confused if this is actually something to worry about or if it's just hype or just a concern for specific hair types? Thank you Chris!

    • @joane24
      @joane24 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      From my experience: it depends on your scalp and hair.
      For most people, it's fine.
      But for example for me, I can't see them. I can't use sls and other similar detergents, not only in shampoo but shower gels or soaps as. They're too harsh for me, I get hair follicles inflammation and itchy scalp from them, if I use them regularly. If it were up to me, I would get them banned😅.
      But actually for most people, they're ok.
      With silicones, they have good and bad properties. They coat and protect the hair, make brushing more easy, give shine, protect from heat.
      But, they also may build up and then the hair gets matted and weighted and also dry, because they alone don't moisturize, and if building up, they may even prevent getting enough moisture.
      To remove the silicone buildup, you can't use the mildest shampoo, but the one with sulfates (SLS and similar, there's some variants with similar names, and some with a bit different names but of similar detergent strength).
      So, coming back to point one, if you use shampoo with mild detergents only, you should avoid silicones, that's why these two things go often in pairs (sls-free and silicone-free).
      Otherwise silicones are good, but it's similar as with oils, the hair needs moisture first, and silicones give a nice finish, and help to keep the moisture in. They don't replace moisture, in fact can be tricky if your hair looks shiny but is actually dry, so don't forget to moisturize the hair. Just to know, if you use them, you can't just use the mildest shampoo, because that will cause buildup.
      Also, some people - like me, again😑 - develop contact acne from some silicones (some oils as well, I'm not saying it's silicones only), so I don't like them having the skin contact. If in shampoo, and shampoo should be for scalp not for hair (conditioner is for hair), they get on my skin (irritated by the SLS & co) and aid in buildup and folliculitis breakouts.
      So, it really depends on you skin/scalp. If you're prone to irritation, breakouts, psoriasis, and other things like that, you want to look for a mild washing formula.
      But for most people, they're fine.

    • @joane24
      @joane24 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Another point is, that SLS and similar are just cheap ingredients and that's why they're everywhere. It's easy and cheap to make a shampoo with them, add plenty of silicones that will give shine to the hair, so that the hair will look shiny and healthy, even when it isn't (silicones coat hair, protect, and give shine, but don't alone moisturize, etc.).
      The better brands are better quality and use better quality ingredients, etc.
      Unless specific skin/scalp/hair needs, no need to avoid SLS (and alike) and silicone, though opting for a better quality product will make difference.

I was so excited to see how long the 2nd try lasted 7 (not on purpose) I am traveling to see my granddaughter and I am only going for three days tagging along with my mom for her every few months hairstylist! 😂my stepdad is Navy and he runs a tight ship! Less is best has saved my uh reputation! I’m going in now for the last two steps… Olaplex and then that hairspray formally known as hot shots! I never used hairspray! I would even make my stylist not put it in! My mom and my former best friend whom I believed in so much that I had invested in her two different salons, and I lived in Jacksonville FL way more humidity then west coast paradise! I’m going straight for the trip as I haven’t got the silk bonnet yet 😂 but just in case taking my curling iron along with me in the event of Washington DC winter rain! Thank you again! My hair is thick and coarse with loose curls. A spray leave-in doesn’t do anything. There are lots of leave-ins that are creams and not treatments (for example, adwoa baomint leave-in is great). So I think it was an odd thing for a professional to say.
