    I can hardly recognise my hair these days after taking Chris’ advice on products, order of use, heat protectant, styling. Never thought I’d see my hair in luscious waves like this. 🥰

      Hi Chris! I love your advice. Here's the thing, my hair may look great on the day I let it dry naturally and use a curling iron quickly (of course after spraying in leave in conditioner, etc.) I often have night sweats. By morning, my hair is generally frizzy and most parts, especially the bangs that I'm growing out, are going in different directions!
      And I'm wondering if my hair follicles are getting thinner due to the night sweats?
      Thoughts? Thank you!

      Same, Breege! I thought I had a decent routine before but using Chris’ routine/recommended products my hair is next level healthy! I can now easily go 7-10 days without washes and it still looks great and better than my day 4/5 hair before. For the first time in my life I am liking my hair.
      To me what’s made the biggest difference: the Pureology leave-in conditioner and 3-day breaks after heat styles. I have one more step which is to oil/ massage my scalp+hair on the night before wash days. With Chris’ routine this step has become unnecessary but I still enjoy it.

      @@CupcakeGrogan Hi Kimberly, please ignore this if you meant to ask Breege ☺️.
      As suggested in Chris’ videos, I use Redken’s cleansing cream for my first wash and the Volume Injection Shampoo + Conditioner for the second wash. After towel drying, I apply Pureology’s Color Fanatic Leave-in Conditioner + Drybar’s Hot Toddy (will switch to Redken’s big blowout one once I run out), a tiny drop of Moroccan hair oil to seal the ends and brush everything through. Then I blow dry using the Revlon blow dry brush. Finally, a tiny bit of Moroccan hair oil to tame flyaways, if needed. Hope this helps 💙

      @lovelypanda8676 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Yup! You only really need one big chop if you had neglected it before. No amount of olaplex will glue split ends back together. However, if you get rid of them and then after that you take preventive measures such as hairmasks and protective oils you really only need a trim once or twice a year or so. Or you can do it more often but cut off super tiny amounts, I personally do it every 3-4 months but cut off like 1 cm / half and inch

    Chris, it would be good to hear a curly hair routine. I need multiple products - e.g., leave in, curl cream, gel and oil … so it’s hard to keep it light. Also, with curly hair if I straighten with heat protectant it makes it feel so dry and brittle !

    • @personmcdudeguy
      @personmcdudeguy ปีที่แล้ว +9

      For curly hair, try doing everything on wet hair and adding more water instead of product! And when you add water, spend a few seconds really squishing it in well. Also try mousse instead of gel and using a silicone serum instead of natural oils. Maybe jojoba oil because it's the lightest natural oil. For a leave in, use a liquid one like Infusium 23!

    I have ribcage-length hair. I used to go to a stylist who would always lecture me about how I had to come in for a trim every month even if I didn’t seem to need it or my hair would end up damaged and I would have to cut it really short. Really condescendingly too, “I’m going to tell you something you’re not going to want to hear…”. Anyway, I never did what she said and 20 years later, my hair is still the same length. I think she was just trying to make more money off of me.

      My hairstylist is a gem. After covid lock downds ended my hair had gone from shoulder length to bra strap length. I told him I wanted to grow it to my waist because I’d never had it that long. I go in every eight weeks or do and he literally takes a millimeter or two off. It gives me that sharp just cut edge but doesn’t undo all the growth.

    I left my hair naked for years and I seriously didn't realize how much using a leave in conditioner and oil after that has drastically improved my bleached/ highlighted hair looks and feels. It's never been this healthy. Along with doing daily scalp massages, wearing loose hair styles (have to pull it up for work so i use a claw clip or the "phone cord" hair ties), and not straightening my hair as much as I was. He's right....I used to straighten my hair without a heat protectant, and I would need to touch it up. Now, using the heat protectant, my hair stays straight for at least 3 days and can go at least 4-5 days without washing orusing dry shampoo. I've also added a silk bonnet to my routine, which also protected my style and hair in general ❤❤❤ you Chris!!!! And your new shampoo and conditioner!!!!

      I can so relate to spending years to learn about hair care.
      But he said : all the 18 yolds out there saying,"ahh i dont need to put any product in my hair" trust me you need it and it slowly fades. While my 10 yold self would have had related to atleast the basic hair care stuff i.e, right pro shampoo,leave-in conditioner and oil being used like a serum. Hes talking about even if i didn't heat style my hair because i have struggled with damaged hair even without using heat since that young age simply because i didn't know the techniques hes talking about till age 24..and i d jump at trying most of the things hes talking about at any age when i started to want less frizzy hair.
      so just because people are young doesnt mean their hair needs any less maintenance,unless they have a rare genetic lottery where they have invincible hair that doesn't get damaged no matter what (and imo even ppl born with good hair can damage their hair with long/even short term mistakes), tho i understand that ageing may need more care but still, most of us need it regardless of age.
      But this is one of the rare channels out of all the amalgamation of diy and other hair care channels that i relate to on a personal level. And first one that can give such accurate and large amount of information on different hair care topics without diys alone and without me having to search for other similar TH-cam channels.

    I got my box of products almost 2 weeks now. I spoke with THE MOST HIGH about my hair situation. I lost so much hair and I just wanted my thickness and length back. Then one morning LLL came up on my YT feed. I looked at it and immediately agreed with everything Chris was saying. So, I found out my hair type and ordered the products. My 1st wash was amazing. I wasn’t putting clumps of hair on the shower wall so I don’t clog the drain. My hair was pretty dirty, so I washed the scalp a few times and my hair felt amazing already hydrated before the conditioner. Followed the next 3 steps, conditioner, leave in and oil. I’m amazed! Hardly any hair came out in my hands or comb. After 2 weeks and 3 wash routines waiting about 4 days to wash. My curls don’t tangle at the ends, my hair is super easy to comb through and remains soft and not brittle until next wash day and I’m not losing any hair. Thank You THE MOST HIGH for Live Love Locks and Chris!

I used to do it every 6 weeks and now haven't for over a year. My hair is naturally curly and hides damage in the curls.... or because of my job is hidden in a bun. To be honest even with as long as it's been since my last trim my hair is healthier and shinier than is has been in 10 years.

    Yup. The more I consistently used Olaplex to repair damage the less frizz I had, which was what was making me feel like I had to do touch ups with heat. So there was less damage for the Olaplex treatments to have to repair, thus less frizz after my hair is styled. I also stopped dying my hair which ended a lot of damage I’d been causing that way too. So now I’m at a place that I can do once a week or even once every two week Olaplex treatments for repairing heat damage and get the same results I’d been getting when I started using it, which was 2-3 times a week. Washing and styling my hair once a week, and only needing to do a heat styling touch up by day 3 or 4. Otherwise I just add the tiniest bit of oil to offer added shine and only when I feel I need it and but not enough to feel heavy/dirty or weigh my hair down. With getting my hair to this healthy state, no longer dying my hair to hid my grays/whites and only trimming when my ends appear frayed, my hair is now 3 1/2” away from being waist length!

      I am chemically relaxed as well and find his information very useful and easier than a lot of the relaxer specific channels. My natural texture is coarse and thick but it’s relaxed to a medium texture. When my hair is growing out I use his tips for coarse hair texture to incorporate more moisture into the new growth that is drier and this works very well. My hair sheds very little and it looks and feel very healthy. I think Chris focuses more on texture of the hair. Your relaxed hair may no longer be coarse. Mine is not. It’s medium. So I follow those guidelines until about 8 weeks when I have a lot of coarse new growth. Hope this is helpful.

    After the shower I like to use Not Your Mothers leave-in conditioner or a tiny bit of coconut oil( melted in between my hands), then add jojoba oil on the very ends. I have tailbone length hair and care for it the best way I can. The winter time is a bit challenging but I do let my hair air dry, then finger detangle before I take my brush and go from the ends to the roots.
    I love my hair and hair in general. My mother was a home beautician. It's what she had love for and taught me so much. I do appreciate other stylist to come on here and share the knowledge they've gained to tell the truth about hair. My mother always said "Your hair already knows what it wants to do. Let it work with you and for you, not against you."

    I’m 60 yrs old with a ton of health issues & due to those issues my hair is dry & frizzy. I’m a natural redhead it use to be auburn. I can’t afford expensive hair care due to all the darn Dr. bills. I just recently came across your TH-cam channel & I enjoy learning new things from you. I have started washing and conditioning my hair the way you say to do even though I’m used Dove hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Maybe one day I’ll be able to afford the opalex (sp) as you suggested to me to use. Thank you for your informational videos. Cindy Sue

    I am 56 years old and had badly damaged hair from blow drying, straightening, and hair extensions..... For six months, I have trained my hair into ringlets by letting it air dry and using the correct product..... I also swear by scalp massage and pumpkin seed oil on your scalp for balding spots..... The most important thing is the proper diet!! Stop eating processed food, gluten, and sugar,.... Instead, eat a high protein diet with lots of veggies, berries, nuts, avocados, organic eggs, salmon, and watch your hair grow and glow...... My issue is that society insists that to be professional, a women must have the "perfect blow-out" preferably blonde...... For the curly hair girls like me, this will literally cause your hair to start to fall out in clumps especially as you age..... We need to nourish our curls and rock the ringlet look!!

    The thing about trims is so true if you're trying to get long hair. My hair is to my tailbone and it's also very thin so it's always been prone to breakage and split ends, the way I got it this long is by hydrating the ends, wearing protective styles, and only trimming 1-2 times a year!!!

    I'm kinda glad that you mentioned the hair trimming thing. I've always heard from stylists and different media saying to get it trimmed every two weeks. That never made sense to me when it came to growing out your hair. I mean I get it if your hair grows super fast anyways and you're trying to maintain a short hairstyle, but for us in the long hair crowd it never made sense to me. I really only trim it when I notice that I'm starting to get a bunch of split ends every 6 months to a year and that has always worked out well for me. My enemy has been and continues to be your standard call center issued headset because of the type of work I do for a living, hair ties, and my husband rolling over in his sleep because he often gets his arm wrapped up in my hair if I'm not careful about it.

Since, I’ve been using all these “new” products coming out, trying everything and nothing has worked! My hair has been shoulder length for about 3-4 years now. Hi professor,
    I have medium, very curly and frizzy hair. Unfortunately because of that I straight it with the flat iron almost everyday... and with the winter coming (sometimes even the summer morning breeze ,while going to work, is enough to do this 🤦🏽‍♀️), it's a bit of a boredom, because of the humidity in the air, I have to always walk with hats and scarfs covering my hair. I can never feel pretty, because I'm more concerned of not letting my hair look like a clown wig 🤡
    So would like to know if you could tell us how to keep the hair more time straight and behaved?

I kinda follow your tips, but then I realise 'oil for the ends' and 'leave-in for the mids' etc are really for people with long hair that's been worked over. Hi, thanks for the video. What is the source for the three day rule? It sounds arbitrary. Additionally, the notion of “drugstore shampoo” versus “professional shampoo” has no merit from a chemistry standpoint. It’s all the same basic composition. The only true distinction is that “professional shampoos” spend more money on fragrance and ingredients that do not influence the essential chemical composition of the detergent. The “vitamins” and “precious oils” are instantly absorbed by the detergent because the detergent perceives them as “dirt.” The reason you pay more for “professional shampoo” is because the brand that outsources the production incurs more cost from unique-smelling fragrance and “exotic” pointless gimmicks. They in turn build that into the cost.
    If you genuinely want people to have healthy hair, then you should advise that first, above all else, genetics govern your mane. Next, lifestyle and diet have some, but not much, influence over your hair.
    I know - products are fun and I love them too. But it seems this advice is being motivated by the same drivers behind the “industrial haircare complex:” money.
    There really is no difference in the opinions you present as fact versus Pantene’s marketing tactics. They both intend to gain consumer trust with the intent of getting loyalty which means more views/purchases and profit.

    • @personmcdudeguy

      I would push back and say lifestyle could have huge effects. Amount and intensity of sun exposure or artificial tanning, tap water quality, nutritional deficiencies or eating disorders, pregnancy or major surgery, birth control, and more can have huge effects.

    • @ThatsTheWayItGoes
      @ThatsTheWayItGoes ปีที่แล้ว

      @@personmcdudeguy Oh absolutely! The point being that there aren’t any ingredients in “professional shampoo” or “drugstore shampoo” that will ultimately make a difference in whether or not you have “healthy hair.”

    • @personmcdudeguy
      @personmcdudeguy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThatsTheWayItGoes Yeah. I think of it like a bell curve. For a given product, most people would rate it as average, some on the left tail would call it awful and some on the right tail would say it's perfect. I think genetics doesn't limit people as much as they think, especially if their hair is shorter than tailbone length. I hear the genetics comment a lot from people trying to buuld muscle, but watch them work out and they clearly arent working hard enough. But technique matters a lot. Ripping through hair with the comb, not prepooing or oiling, not shampooing properly, just not being gentle in general.

    • @puggirl415
      @puggirl415 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are so right. I decided to let my grey and curly flag fly and despite not blow drying or flat ironing my hair for over 4 years it still gets frizzy and dry as the days between washes march on. I've used professional styling products and look for bad chemicals in my shampoo, but you really don't have to buy pro shampoo. I've never found a brand that made a bit of difference in my natural hair.

    • @ThatsTheWayItGoes
      @ThatsTheWayItGoes ปีที่แล้ว

      @@personmcdudeguy You are not wrong with the curve example: it’s just unrelated to my point about the chemistry of detergents. Yes, people have preferences for the products they use, which, like most things in life, have the predictability of a Bell-distribution.
