This is first thanksgiving I’m not embarrassed by my big frizzy hair. I’m grateful today for finding your channel. You have a great holiday. Please keep posting
Have you ever had clients with very curly or kinky hair? If so, in your experience do you recommend the same time for heat placed on the hair (1 week)? It seems that many 'naturals' are saying that those with type 3 or 4 hair shouldn't straighten their hair no more than once a month (at most every two weeks) so your hair won't break.
Hi! I just wanted to comment because I'm mixed and have 3b curly hair. It's often frizzy and extremely dry and I started using the products and heat styling tips he recommended for coarse hair and it's made my hair much more manageable, soft, and healthy. It even cuts down the time it takes to straighten my hair. Even my mother who has more 3c to 4a type hair uses the same products of the Morrocanoil line that he recommends and she styles and straightens her hair and hers is also extremely soft as well as low maintenance. My hair is healthiest when I stick to his routine and wash it every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks, otherwise it gets too dry and starts breaking. For my mom, she can go between 2 and 3 weeks and she has much shorter hair. I hope this helps in some way.
Heat has been used for ever in the african dysporia haircare. Imaging people who come from some of the hottest/humid countries/islands not being able to use heat. For type 4 bone straight silk press1x a month. Blow out or rollerset and hooded dryer for wash days.
You have changed my world on hair care. I bought the products, only a few and been doing it. When I dried my hair, frizz was back. I did watch a video on this guy who said, don't dry your hair in the bathroom. I took a shower today, did your hair regimen and then blow dried my hair in my room, omg what a difference. First time in years my hair looks healthy. Thank you soooo much for helping me
I never stopped to consider that (because I've never dried it in the same place I shower), but that makes so much sense! There would be way too much humidity, but also, it seems like it would just be way too hot and counterproductive.
Thank you for the excellent tipp to use the blowdry brush from both sides. These type of practical advise makes your channel different from so many other channels which ressemble more product commercials than delivering practical advise. I want to understand better how to use products, tools, techniques and not just to hear about the brand names. I am so glad to have found your channel!
Chris, I just want to say that I am very impressed with your channel. One video that really made a difference for me was the one where you styled half of the models hair with drug store products and the other half with good quality products. I am 54 and have very rarely used salon products because I assumed they were not worth the money. After watching your video, I took your quiz to work out what products to use. I bought the products (yes...pricey...it did hurt a bit...) I used them and am still using them. I have to tell you that my hair looks and feels pretty amazing. Also I now only have to wash every 6 to 7 days, so I figure I am saving money. I am using the volume shampoo which is helping a lot, the leave in conditioner, the hair protectant and the Oloplex oil which is incredible. Thanks so much for giving us information we can actually use. Regards from Australia.
Good insight. Thank you. I hope you'll make a topic about keratin. Almost every hair product in my country has it. Personally, keratin makes my hair stiff.
Omg yes..I tried a keratin spray for a few months. At first the hair looked great but as the time passed by, it became coarser and drier, losing its shine. After I finished the bottle and washed the hair without it, it suddenly was shiny and fluffy again 😂
@@GabiBrooks keratin protein makes the hair coarser when used often. Our bodies have other sources of protein like our diet. It was protein overload if I must say.
You only recommended a couple of companies, there are some great shampoos out there that don't cost the bank, are you profiting from moroccan products?
Back in the 60s and 70s friends who had frizzy hair would iron (with an iron on an ironing board, without anything to protect it!) OMG! I wash my hair once a week and leave it air dry.
I was introduced to a flat iron around age 11, I had butt length hair, by the time I was 13, my hair had broken off to around ear length. I have blamed heat for so long but I realize now that I was just abusing it 😭 I just wish someone taught me how to properly use it. I would literally just sit and watch cartoons and go over my hair with the flat iron for hours. Every single day. No heat protection, no nothing. Just 450° 😭🤣
Yeah same 🥲 I think that's the main reason why people say "never use heat on your hair", they probably all have that imagine in their head of someone burning their hair every single day. If you use it 1-2x per week and take good care of your hair it won't be damaged, at least not drastically.
@@luna1r yes exactly! just trauma from bad experience, lol. i feel like instead of telling people to never use heat (because, lets be honest, most people are still going to!) we just need to learn to use it properly, and learn to take care of our hair.
I was my hair once a week and only use heat 1-2xs a week. I also have naturally curly hair so I have to bundle my hair up with a satin cap plus a shower cap. Ladies a cute satin bonnet or pillows will make your heat styled hair last longer. And also hair rollers

@@madhudd6495 He also recommends the leave-in conditioner from Moroccan Oil. I have Indian hair 2a/2b. Both the Pureology and Moroccan Oil one work amazingly. If I had to pick one tho I’d go for the Moroccan one as it works a tiny bit better with my thick hair.

What about those of us that have thin, fine hair that is long? My hair is to the top of my shoulders and no matter what I do it looks awful the next day. It isn’t dirty, just flat and the curls are gone. I am using the bonding oil and the blow out cream. I have ordered the shampoo/conditioner.
Hi...so should we only get Redken? I mean how do I believe the labeling on those 2 products if I can't believe the labels on the ones sitting right beside these?
I never used a blow dry cream and tried the one Chris recommended. It really helped my style a lot. I have medium/wavy hair. The beauty of the channel is that Chris and his fellow hair stylist try a lot of the products and he is letting us know which ones work best.
I think what he meant to say was that you shouldn't completely believe the claims on labels because they are written by people who do marketing, not hair styling. The example that he gave in the video is that both the Olaplex hair oil and the Pureology leave in conditioner state that they benefit your hair in providing heat protection, this just doesn't mean that either products are suited as an actual heat protectant like a dedicated blowout cream or ironing heat protectant. So you are still fine to use a different heat protectant from what he recommends, just make sure it's a product that's sole purpose is providing a heat protectant and not something else which lists heat protection as one of the 20 benefits
Chris you are the best. I was co fused if I should use a thermal protectant when blowing out and then again when straightening. Finally info I need!!! I was doing it 2 x and the style was lasting close to 7 days. My hair isn't super oily...so it works. Your tips are priceless.
Hi Chris! Can you make a video discussing the possible reasons as to why a small percentage of people are experiencing hair loss when using Olaplex? Thanks!
From what I have seen I wouldn't say it's a small percentage. I've seen multiple facebook groups with hundreds of people in them that have experienced it.
I saw this on the Sephora reviews quite a while ago. I've never had any issues, but I also don't use it like those reviewers were describing. It seemed like way too much for the hair. Interesting question I'd forgotten about.
I have watched about 15 of your videos this evening. My mid length hair has refused to grow past my ear lobes and the rest of my hair looks terrible.. I have been trying to grow my hair for 5-6 years with no luck. I purchased ALL of the products you recommend. I have bought many products in the past with no results. This is the last time I am going to attempt this. I just turned 63 so if this does not work I give up. Edit: I bought the Redkin shampoo and conditioner you recommend, the thermal Redkin heat protector and blow dry cream on your list, the Olaplex oil, the spiral ponytail things, Pure0oogy leave in conditioner and a wet brush.
"the 1st rule in heat club" 😂 I'm not sure if other ethnicities do this with their straight hair, but wrapping your straight hair at night is helpful in a lasting style & actually helps it look sleeker. And, I used heatless curl method to maintain my curly look. This works for up to 3 weeks if your hair is coarse & scalp doesn't flake before then. Also, thanks for the blow drying tip. My hair holds heat so I burn my hands with my hair often when using heating tools because I use my blow dryer to get as much of my coarse, thick roots straightend before flat ironing so I don't have to use a hot comb then a flat iron.
Thank you!!! I've noticed that heat really does my mane good. I use heat on my hair only twice or three times a week... and only after washing and conditioning my hair, which is only a few times a week at most lol. I never touch it up with heat. It never works for me! I refresh my hair with nourishing products if need be.
Like so many before me in the comments, I would like to thank you. It’s been years, I’ve tried everything, every method, but I always got the same results with wiry, frizzy hair. I gave your tips a try, and I can’t believe my eyes. Silky, soft, something my hair never was before. Very grateful to you!

Hi chris!! We truly appreciate you sharing your expertise, I wish you can go a little bit more scientifically or talk about the ingredients of the products on why it's so great.
Better hit up Dr. Dray for that, but I wouldn't follow her hair advice, specifically. She's not a hair specialist, though she still teaches and explains the science behind so many products and how they work on our bodies.

is it ok to use thermal heat protectant when i only use blow dryer brush ??????? is it important to only use the blow dry cream while using blow dryng brush ?
Yes.. from what he said, you only need a leave in conditioner and heat protectant cream or gel before you blow dry or use a blow dryer brush. The ‘Redken heat protectant thermal spray’ is for AFTER your hair is DRY and you want to curl it or use a flat iron on it. I didn’t even get the ‘Redken Big Blowout gel’. He uses two separate ones when hair is wet. A leave in conditioner and then uses the Redken Big Blowout gel.. which is a heat protectant but it also gives you volume. What’s important.. is when your hair is wet or damp from towel drying.. is to use a leave in conditioner WITH a heat protectant. THEN blow dry your hair or do a blow out. Or use your blow dryer brush. I also use a blow dryer brush. Don’t forget the leave in conditioner. (A lot have heat protectants in them.. make sure to read that they have both). I happen to have 2 leave in conditioners that are ALSO heat protectants. One is ‘Ouai Anti Frizz leave in conditioner crème’. It’s also a heat protectant. The other is a spray primer called ‘Bumble and Bumble hairdresser’s invisible primer.’ This one detangles and conditions, and is also a heat protectant. They both control frizz and fly aways as well. . If I want volume I use a volumizing spray on my damp hair at the roots or a volumizing mousse at the roots..(or he uses the Redken Big Blowout gel). Again.. only if you’re going to use heat on your DRIED HAIR (flat iron, curling, etc).. does he say to ALSO use a heat protectant spray on DRY hair. Luckily.. I can use the BB invisible primer on wet / damp hair AND dry hair. He recommends the ‘Redken Thermal quick spray’ for thermal protection on dry hair. I hope I didn’t confuse you even more 😅 if so.. let me know.
Your videos are a GODSEND. Thank you so much. I have recently purchased a decent hot air brush (silver bullet 32mm) and a high quality blowdry cream, a wonderful drugstore dry shampoo, and a nice hair oil. I follow your advice and my hair has never been better 😀 Not only that but I spend far less time and stress and money on my hair now, and it looks great, consistently. I’m so grateful for your videos, Professor!
My hair goes from clean AND frizzy, to silky and gross ). My mistake, probably, is that I just blow-dry it, without the brush/ "blowout" part??? P.S. Thank you so much for your work, Chris - you have completely transformed my hair and my life - just the right products and right washing technique allow me to go without washing several days longer, and I now shed way way less hair. Thank you, Chris, you are the best!!!!!!
I love this advice, but, do you have any suggestions for keeping hair nice during and after a workout? I work out about 4 times a week, and I just can’t go without washing it afterwards. I know that’s hard on my hair, but got any tips?
Always a wealth of information! Once I started taking care of my hair with your healthy hair routine great hair everyday is practically effortless. I don't use irons on my hair, only the Revlon hair styler on wash day and dry shampoo and some oil the remaining days. My hair has never looked so good. Thanks, Chris.
Hi Chris! SOS PLEASE 🥺 pls pls make a video on how to protect my hair from the humidity/humid weather 💧 I have super fine hair, and no matter the way I style it, everything is ruined almost immediately once I'm out. Do the so-called humidity blockers work?
Question!! If I wash my hair on Sunday, is "day 3" on Wednesday or Thursday? Do I need to go 3 full days between washes or can I wash and restyle on day 3? TIA
I have wondered this too!! I have fine hair though and can only go a few days w/o washing it. If I wash my hair Sunday I HAVE to wash it no later than Wednesday.. so I have also wondered.. would 3 days be Wednesday or Thursday?? LOL
This information is solid gold. Your videos are super informative and have taught me so much about how to protect my hair from heating tools. Please keep them coming!
I wash and use heat stylers on my hair every 6 days from October to April then from the middle of April I let my hair air dry and still wash it every 6 days until October when I have to use heat too dry my hair.... I for use a shower cap and I take all of my hair at night and place it over the top of my pillow when I sleep.... I also brush my hair every day I do apply the heat that way all the time I use the Revlon one step original blow dryer brush and I alternate using my instyler hair curler sometimes I use both of them together along with the blow dry cream and heat protection spray and an air dry detangling spray also a leave in conditioner
Omg so I finally bought the pureology leave in conditioner and olaplex oil- for the first time in my life, I can actually say my hair doesn’t feel heavy with product or overly brittle and dry!! My natural waves are so defined and literally makes me feel so much more confident 💕🥹 thank you blowout professor!

I've always struggle with wavy/curly/frizzy hair and tried many times to wear it, but was never excited about it and worse, I just don't recognize myself with it, but always felt guilty to use heat/blow dry it, even though that's what makes me way happier. Thank you for the information, you're really helping people ☺️
Taking a break from cooking and saw you have a new video. I’m hosting an early thanksgiving for my huge family. I’m pretty sure they are going to be shocked by my hair transformation.
I wondered this as well. I hope he answers your question!
I have this same question as well. Washing/straightening my hair once a month isn’t realistic.
I also wonder if his advice is really universal to include our hair type
You have changed my world on hair care. I bought the products, only a few and been doing it. When I dried my hair, frizz was back. I did watch a video on this guy who said, don't dry your hair in the bathroom. I took a shower today, did your hair regimen and then blow dried my hair in my room, omg what a difference. First time in years my hair looks healthy. Thank you soooo much for helping me
I never stopped to consider that (because I've never dried it in the same place I shower), but that makes so much sense! There would be way too much humidity, but also, it seems like it would just be way too hot and counterproductive.
you're channel is the first one giving great advice, thank you
Thank you for the excellent tipp to use the blowdry brush from both sides. These type of practical advise makes your channel different from so many other channels which ressemble more product commercials than delivering practical advise.
I want to understand better how to use products, tools, techniques and not just to hear about the brand names. I am so glad to have found your channel!
How about roots? If you don't put blowout cream all the way up to your roots, how do you protect them?
I am a licensed stylist that stopped doing hair years ago, but I watch ALL of your videos as you have the best information!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 100k+!!!!! Those advance class tips are gold!! BLOW DRY BOTH SIDES!! Yes! I get amazing results doing that!
That's awesome! Most people never think about it :)
@@bad_egg000 yes, I realized after seeing similar experiences from other people. 😐
So leave in conditioner then blow dry cream on top of that?
Chris can you please recommend another product in place of the Redkan big blowout. I have fine hair and I can't find that product here in SA
I cannot purchase Redkin or pulp riot at my cosmo prof or jemm beauty on the west coast of Canada. Do you have any alternatives? Lots of love, 🇨🇦
You are literally the only professional I trust anymore!
This channel is a Godsend for hair novices like me.
I was introduced to a flat iron around age 11, I had butt length hair, by the time I was 13, my hair had broken off to around ear length. I have blamed heat for so long but I realize now that I was just abusing it 😭
I just wish someone taught me how to properly use it.
Same here.
That's painful to read.
@@ethanmorrow5623 Yeah, I agree 🥲Atleast its given me a new appreciation for my hair now 🤗
I was my hair once a week and only use heat 1-2xs a week. I also have naturally curly hair so I have to bundle my hair up with a satin cap plus a shower cap. Ladies a cute satin bonnet or pillows will make your heat styled hair last longer. And also hair rollers
Thank you so much Chris!
Adding a leave in conditioner to my routine has changed my hair. After struggling with dry frizzy hair for a long time, finding a routine that makes me want to flaunt my hair had made me so happy and more confident. I’m grateful for your valuable advice! Keep going, loads of love from India 🤗
Same here! I am so grateful for the channel, I never loved my hair like now in my entire life! So so thankful for the Blowout Professor!! ❤️ Love from Hungary 🇭🇺
Hi Vismita 😂 Which leave-in conditioner did you use btw? I’ve been waiting for the Purelogy for two months now and I was wondering if there’s anything similar in India
@@Urmomlolllllllthank you! I just got the Purelogy one and I’ll try the Moroccanoil one too. I have the Redken Rebel tame but do you have any other alternatives for it in India? Thanks!
@@madhudd6495 I am using the Hot Toddy one from Drybar but not a fan. I really like the blowout/ hot tool products from Bumble and Bumble
I love your honesty! Now, maybe not everyone watching has long hair. Maybe you could help those of us who have shoulder-length hair out too??💞✂️💞
In only 2-3 washes my hair completely transformed.... from frizzy damaged hair to shiny healthy hair ..... thank you Chris...loads of love from India 🇮🇳 ❤️
Please share your routine please... M struggling.daaily with dry rough lifeless hair.
I really appreciate how short and to the point your videos are. Thank you!
Yes Chris is amazing .Honesty is his Policy .
Very grateful to you!
what was the main thing you changed? the products?
@@sobean9309 yes the products, seems obvious but somehow never occured to me to just buy professional haircare. The biggest change is the leave in conditioner for me, but I also love the shampoo:)
@@cb430 do you use the redken or morrocanoil ones? :)
@@sobean9309 no, I just walked into a shop where they sell products for professionals and asked for any recommendation (Moroccan oil and Redken wasn't in stock), it's Kosswell SR and Seliar (I think they are European brands)
So, when flat ironing, do we do it straight after applying the heat protectant? Or wait for the heat protectant to dry first?
I loved every minute of this video! I have long, curly hair and have been "afraid" of heat tools for years, but miss the gorgeous results, especially for special occasions. Now I have the knowledge and information to use the tools properly and take care of my hair at the same time! Thank you!! xoxo
Thank you professor blowout. I've only recently changed my hair routine after discovering your channel. I've struggled with my hair because I've never understood what I've been doing wrong, but thanks to this channel I feel more confident about getting my hair healthier and looking its best. If only you lived in the UK though so I could visit your salon. Thanks again 👍💖
Difference between blow out cream and blow out spray? Which is better? My local Ulta has the Redken blow out spray but the cream is currently out of stock.
The best hair channel on TH-cam.
Thankyou for your videos. I have been adding these products to my routine. Have you done a video on hair thinning? I'm 64 , dealing with
This issue?
omg 😳 I just found out what heat protection used this gonna change my life for ever!!!
3:40 so i am using revlon blow dry brush is olaplex no6 is enough? cuz i though i need to use leave in first then no6 and then heat spray. is it too much? im a bit panicky when it comes to heat so lol help hahaha
When you say 3 days, does the 1st day count as washing day? For example, if I wash and styled my hair on Sunday, would Sunday then be day 1 or would Monday be day 1. When can I wash my hair again when following the 3 day break method? Thanks!
Can you please do a video about bangs?
@@EMILY4DAYS yea I watch her too, not really a huge fan.
I will add to the thank you comments here so thank you. Because of you I use leave in conditioner and I wash my hair not on daily basis anymore which is progress in my mind. So thank you so much
I waz blessed to find your channel about 90 days ago and WOW what a difference it has been for my hair!!! Today is the best so far. Can't wait till I'm a year in. Thank You solo much😀
Are you the only honest person on you tube❤❤❤. Thank you
I love your videos. I have fine greasy hair with no frizz and could never go three days but I like these recommendations for products.
This channel helped me throw out a wavy defining mousse that was making me break out because the olaplex No. 3 was what was really defining my waves to begin with. I just couldn't tell because I was using both products at the same time. I actually started using the mousse more and I wondered why my hair wasn't looking right. Olaplex No. 3 is a godsend.
I just bought the revlon blow dry brush on your recommendation. I absolutely love it. So much easier for me to dry my hair with this. Thanks so much Chris. You are a life saver ❤. Your videos have helped me so much ❤
Which heat protectant do you recommend we use with hot rollers?
Thank you so much Chris from treasure coast in South East Florida. My favorite nephew lives in ft Myers. I am going to make an appointment with you for the next time I drive over..
I'm amazed by this video. I was blow drying every single day on dry hair. Now I have stopped. Im just trying to follow his advice to get back my hair length. I will try some hair oils on my end and leave in conditioner after bath to lock in the moisture. I have dry hair oil Nuxe from France which I'm actually using...
Can you please talk about keratin protein and Botox for hair straightening
I really wish he would do a tutorial on how to style short hair. Used the products that he recommended and was SO pleased.
is it ok to use thermal heat protectant when i only use blow dryer brush ??????? is it important to only use the blow dry cream while using blow dryng brush ?
Yes.. from what he said, you only need a leave in conditioner and heat protectant cream or gel before you blow dry or use a blow dryer brush.
@@SkellaBella thank you so much. this is very helpful to me 🥰
What is your opinion on hot rollers? Love the look, but wondering if it's too damaging? Fine with a thermal protectant?
wondering the same
Your videos are a GODSEND. I’m so grateful for your videos, Professor!
i was today years old when i discovered all these fundamental things about hair, thank you 🙏🏼
I’m wondering if you have any input on hot rollers and heartless curls?
My hair goes from clean AND frizzy, to silky and gross ). My mistake, probably, is that I just blow-dry it, without the brush/ "blowout" part??? P.S. Thank you so much for your work, Chris - you have completely transformed my hair and my life - just the right products and right washing technique allow me to go without washing several days longer, and I now shed way way less hair. Thank you, Chris, you are the best!!!!!!
How come doesn't have lots of subsribers 😢😢😢 you are the best hair dresser I have ever seen
Favorite tools for thin/fine/old hair..flat iron, reg dryer(Harry Josh??)
(I still use hot rollers & Velcro😱)
I love this advice, but, do you have any suggestions for keeping hair nice during and after a workout? I work out about 4 times a week, and I just can’t go without washing it afterwards. I know that’s hard on my hair, but got any tips?
I have been following your advice and my hair looks and feels much better. I use a Calista brush.
Can you make a video for people with hair loss and the best products that you recommend for hair loss or to improve hair density?
Hi Chris! SOS PLEASE 🥺 pls pls make a video on how to protect my hair from the humidity/humid weather 💧 I have super fine hair, and no matter the way I style it, everything is ruined almost immediately once I'm out. Do the so-called humidity blockers work?
Same here! 😓
Love your sharing.
Please also share how to many grey unruly hair. My hair texture has changed so much recently. It’s such a headache.
This was the most excellent video. I finally figured out I need thermal creme and blow dry creme. He's very practical and through. Thank so much Chris
Please keep them coming!
clear, to the point. perfect advice! Thank you so much! Much love from Switzerland!
I love this channel, and I am trying to grow my hair out. Might be a couple of months. I can’t use that on my shoulder length hair, or can I.
What about when you use a diffuser ? What heat protector would you use then?
Amazing. I always use both, blow dry cream and heat protection, even when I'm just using the blowout brush.
I also brush my hair every day
I do apply the heat that way all the time
I use the Revlon one step original blow dryer brush and I alternate using my instyler hair curler sometimes I use both of them together along with the blow dry cream and heat protection spray and an air dry detangling spray also a leave in conditioner
you’re lighting my day every time I listen to u ❤️
Omg so I finally bought the pureology leave in conditioner and olaplex oil- for the first time in my life, I can actually say my hair doesn’t feel heavy with product or overly brittle and dry!! My natural waves are so defined and literally makes me feel so much more confident 💕🥹 thank you blowout professor!
so I start w a moisturising/hydrating mask then shampoo and conditioner then a leave in conditioner then blow dry cream then thermal heat protectant and then hair oil to polish and maybe some dry shampoo as well.... such a small list
