I’m 40. No one taught me how to do my hair. I watched video after video. You sir have taught me more in the last week than my entire life. I curled my hair per your recommendations and it’s lasted 3 days! It never lasted over a day before. I bought all the recommended hair products for my type and I’m already seeing results. Thank you for what you do!!!!
@@ccMomOfJays I had biolage at the time so I’m still using that but I did buy the pureology for when I run out. I haven’t used it before but their shampoos have always been my go to.
@@notw8626 thank you. I'm using up some shampoo that I currently have and will be moving on to better quality shampoo from now on. I've decided on pureology or redken..heck I'll probably purchase both 😊
@@ccMomOfJays I bought the pureology leave-in conditioner over the holidays in one of the many sales and I love it!!! I am not one to spend more than $15 or so on each hair product, but I can't believe what a difference it makes. Leaves my hair really shiny and soft. I don't know how often it goes on sale, but you might want to see if you can get it at a reduced price.
@@COgirl394 thank you! I can't bring myself to spend much either, but your comment definitely seals the deal for me! I'll wait for a sale. Good thing I'm patient 😆 🤣

@@wagnis1 I used Olaplex several years ago for my damaged hair and it worked REALLY well, so I wanted to start using it again (for the same reason =/ ur!). When I went looking around online to order it, I read a lot about this alleged lawsuit you're talking about, so it made me a bit nervous to use it again. I looked on Sephora and many of the reviews mentioned it also, BUT after I filtered the reviews so that they only included verified purchases and non-compensated reviews, they went from approximately 3,000 down to 300, and I didn't read any reviews talking about damage (although I didn't read all 300, lol!). That seemed very suspicious to me, and felt VERY off, like, what is going on here? So, albeit a little apprehensively, I ordered and used them anyway over a week ago and haven't had ANY issues. I also went to the Olaplex website and read what they had to say, and they said they will be vigorously defending themselves in court because they do strict testing of their products and there's no way their products could cause hair loss, so that made me feel better about using it too, because they weren't being all hush about it. They also removed a potentially harmful ingredient (and their products contained very little of it) as soon as they learned it could be harmful... an ingredient many U.S. companies continue to use, but was banned in Europe. There are an unbelievable amount of chemicals in this exact scenario that you and I eat, put on ourselves, etc. everyday, and are probably hurting us in ways we don't even know about. At least Olaplex took it out of their formula, even though they legally didn't have to. Some possible causes, that these people could have lost hair from, that I read/thought about were: 1. Could some of the bottles have been tampered with, or had been fakes? The big online retailer that starts with an 'A' is known for not doing enough to stop that practice... exactly why I didn't buy through them. Their reviews mentioned receiving products that weren't sealed, smelled off/different than usual, or were a different color or consistency, etc. 2. Most people are going to be looking to use Olaplex because their hair is damaged, and damaged hair can break off and/or fall out... a lot at once, or over time. 3. If a person's had covid, whether they knew they had it or not, that can definitely cause hair to fall out, so could them using Olaplex just have been a coincidence and nothing Olaplex did wrong? I'm in the medical field, and I've had many patients tell me about their hair loss with covid. 4. SO many people don't read directions on products and/or follow the directions of non-professionals on social media, which can be very harmful! For example, putting a treatment, that instructions say should be left on for 10 minutes, in their wet hair, then putting it up in a tight bun, then sleeping on it all night. This can cause severe damage, breakage, and hair loss. Another thing that makes me a bit leary as to whether these claims are for real is that, years ago, a hair dresser told me that L'Oreal, who owns Redken and many other brands, was going to buy the Olaplex company at one time, and part of the deal included Olaplex revealing their patented formula to L'Oreal, but after they did, L'Oreal pulled out of the deal. Then they used that info to make a bonding formula... pretty crappy thing to do, and they actually lost a $50 million lawsuit filed against them by Olaplex, I read. It just puts something in the back of my mind that there could be something fishy going on with all of this. Patents are only allowed to be held by the original inventor for 20 years, too, so if another company was able to start using that formula after the patent expires, and the company that invented it got some really bad press in the meantime... hmmm, I don't know. 🤔 It just makes me wonder. Olaplex's patent runs out in 2034, so other companies may be positioning themselves to come out on top of the heap of companies that are going to be in competition with Olaplex when their patent runs out fairly soon. Also, I wouldn't believe about 90% of the crap you see on Facebook... it's a VERY poor source for any factual information. I guess the truth will "all come out in the wash," so to speak... pun intended Please know that I'm not trying to throw any shade your way because I know you're just trying to warn people, I just wanted to put out there that there's always two sides to every story, everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and we may not know people's and company's true intents and motivations, which sadly are often financial in nature.
I always thought the “wash twice” was a marketing gimmick to make u use more. But when you said it in a diff video, i tried it. My hair stays cleaner longer and doesn’t get gunky from products like it used to! Thank you! 😃
I didn't know you were supposed to use conditioner on all of your hair until like last year. My mom always had me apply it from mid shaft to ends to keep the top from getting oily as a kid. I thought that's just what you were supposed to do!
After binging your videos and downloading your recommended product list for my hair type, I went out and bought a new leave in, new hair oil, and shampoo & conditioner. My fine hair has never looked better! Thank you Chris!
I noticed a massive difference when I started down the curly hair road and learned the 'squish to condish' method. I found I got more conditioner throughout my than just on the top and bottom strands. I use a lot of conditioner but my hair has looked and felt better ever since.
I'm 38, found your channel a few months ago. I'm happy to say I do the majority of what you recommend. I have wavy frizzy hair that can be quite curly when I diffuse it. It's also very long (mid-chest back length). I've had a very good hair routine for about 4 years now which includes the following: 1) wash twice a week, no more 2) incorporate a hair mask before conditioner AND I use leave-in conditioner. This one was hard to swallow for me, as it seemed like too many products. But I swear, the more conditioned my hair got, the easier (predictable it was to work with) and easier to style. 3) I blowdry with the Revlon brush and yes, I use a heat-protecting cream. Sometimes if I remember I mix with a smoothing cream. My hair looks amazing for like 4 days, I can usually push it to five or six (then it gets gross). 4) Each night I brush my hair out gently with a bamboo brush and apply oil to the ends, then I sleep in a satin hair bonnet for long hair. This has also been a game changer, my hair is no longer getting tangled during my sleep and looks very beautiful when I wake. When I wake I usually brush it once more and i'm off for the day. I wish someone had explained all this to me years ago. I wasted SO much money on products I didn't need and tools that didn't work. I'm enjoying the extra tips I am learning from your channel. Thanks so much for what you do

When using conditioner, pur on a shower cap, or wrap hair in a towel so heat from scalp can work your hair . Not hair dryer. I use a plastic bag wrapped on head. 10 minutes or more. Not more than 30 minutes. Rinse out.
My hair has improved tremendously since I started watching your videos. My mids and ends have never looked better. I still struggle a bit with frizz but I think it's because I wash it every other day, so I'll try dry shampoo to last longer between washes. What I love the most is that you don't promote using a bunch of products but just the basics necessary for a healthy hair ❤ thank youu

Watching your videos, following your advice, and seeing the results have me wishing that there was a Chris out there in the skin care and make-up industry. You’re the best Chris!
Thanks for all your great videos, Chris! My hair looks so good now since I started following your advice. I get so many complements. I’m a grandmother of 7, yet I now believe my best hair days are yet to come. My hair is finally growing out instead of just breaking off and looking pathetic. Many many thanks! ❤
I feel the same way. Granny and Great granny here. My hair has been such an issue. I inherited my dads curls. Also worked outdoors most of my life. Have to say I rocked the 80's dos. I woke up perfectly coifed then, LOL. During our big storms this last week, had to be out in it. Because I had my hair conditioned according to these instructions, I came in and I was told my hair looked like a Grecian Godess, perfect, soft curls. Boy, what a difference of 45 years ago.
Thank you so much Chris for saving my hair! My hair is fine, thin, and was so dry. I took your hair quiz and bought the products from your recommended product list and wow! I went from washing my hair everyday or every other day to twice a week. I still had something missing. After watching this video I learned what It was. The mask once a week. Game changer! I also invested in a good dry shampoo. Love your videos and your straight up info! Please keep them coming!🙂
I can’t no thank you enough for all your videos and education. My hair was a desaster now I feel like I have a salon hair. You have no idea what this means to me, since I always look out together. I always felted that my hair was missing something. I follow all your advices.
Thank you for spreading the "hair treatment" knowledge so generously... I have a tough quiz for you: a specific video for those of using a swimming pool daily. Hair need special treatment to not lose moisture when getting wet by chlorium so often. Also u cannot skip shampoo on daily basis if u go to the pool every day... Need your authority on that. Thnx
Thank you for producing these videos! I'm a 43 year old male growing my hair out for a 2nd time, 18 years ago I tried and wound up with dreadlocks because I had no idea how to take care of hair. These tutorials are the most watchable, informative, and funny videos I have come across and I am grateful that you've put them out there. Please keep up the good work, I was doing everything wrong and wasn't even washing my hair properly 😂
I am so thankful for all your tips! This week I have washed my brush. It never occurred to me to do that and it has made a huge difference already. Then I added a mask and leave in conditioner. I've never used a hair mask and I'm almost 40! I can't believe what a difference that made. It definitely reduced the dullness looks healthier and softer after one use.
Hi Chris. Love your videos! I was wondering if you could do a video on managing coarse hair? You always say that coarse hair is your favorite type but I find myself getting frustrated with how hard to handle it can be sometimes. Would love to know some tips on managing it and getting a smooth sleek look to last for at least a few days.
I’ve used the lather and suds technique since I was little. It just made sense to me that the greasier my hair was, the less it would lather. So I could always tell how greasy my hair was. I do the first wash with lots of shampoo to get rid of as much crap as possible. Then on the second wash I use way less and I can gauge how clean my hair is.
I have "old gray mare" hair...salt and pepper...which is a challenge in and of itself🙄 I started watching your videos a few weeks ago just to see if I could find something to help me manage it. Thanks to you my hair is coming along. 🤗 I did notice that at salons the stylist always washes my hair until it "squeaks", then conditions it. I follow that routine, but I don't think I was using enough conditioner. So...now I have been using more conditioner, AND the leave in conditioner...works great together. Also...only oiling my hair on the 4th day shanpoo day. Getting better...thanks so much! 🤗
I am binge-watching and taking lots of notes on your videos, Professor! I like your brevity in getting to the point. I am doing a revamp on my hair care from the ground up. Thank you for the great info!!
I didn’t think there was anything else to know about my hair. However, after about a week of using your suggestions, I already see significant improvements! Thank you so much for your videos! 💇♀️
These techniques have made all the difference. I have really really long hair, and I used to cut it often because I was so done with my ends, then I watched this video... how did I not know for all these years 🤷🏽♀️? Thank you. I have not had any sign of damage from my last cut, and my hair looks and feels better than it ever has. ❤
thank you chris. another terrific video and so helpful. i am 69 years old and still working in a medical lab. since using your recommended trinity method and products, they have commented on how healthy my hair looks. even my hairdresser!
I used your recommendations and experimented with samples until I got my results. Thank you for your professional advice. My hair never felt healthier, and it looks amazing.
I've heard many times that you should wash your hair before using Olaplex #3. Especially if you oil your hair and accumulate product build up throughout the week.?? Therefore, Olaplex#3 can penetrate into the hair better? Is this accurate info or does it matter?
Maria, That’s a BRILLIANT idea to use SAMPLES to try out different products instead of wasting tons of money and products that you’ll only use once if they don’t work for your hair! Thanks for sharing 😄
I don't know how you landed on my algorithm, but this is the one time I'm happy about this. You are a true educator, and I am extremely appreciative that you are here to help us amateur home stylists. Could you do a session with a black woman? I'm interested in learning how to blow dry my hair... ugh, the struggle is real.
When I was 9, my hair was oily as heck and my mother accused me of washing my hair in conditioner. To sat the least, I was punished and my hair was cut off because I didn't know how to take care of it. I vowed never to touch conditioner again. 13 years later I discovered Aussie Mega 3-minute miracle, but I only used it on my ends. It wasn't until 20 years later I started using conditioner on ALL of my hair. I'm now 53 and I still have a fear of using too much conditioner, but I want to keep my waist-lenth hair. Your videos are helping me overcome my childhood trauma. Thank you.
Thank you for all your valuable information! Ever since I discovered your channel and your advice & recommended products my hair looks so much better! ❤️
Canada here. Been using your grow out video. After a short haircut....my hair is in a ponytail. Grew faster than ever. It's your grow out video. So thanks. I get alot of comments.
Thank you for your time and knowledge! My hair is beautiful and soft 😍. I've received more compliments now in my mid 40s than I ever did when I was younger without wiry grays
Me too! My hair is fine in texture and I have a medium amount of it. When I wear my hair down it always tangles in the back where it lays on my back. So I cut my hair shorter to shoulder length and it still does it but higher up in the back. I big rats nest. It deters me from wearing it down.
@Erin C is it only happening at the nape of your neck? Nowhere else on your head? That's a section that gets more damage than other parts of your hair, you may need to use a heavier conditioner on that section or do a masque. I have super fine hair too, and its sooooo hard to find something lightweight enough for the roots sections but also hydrating enough for my ends, so i gave up and started using 2 different conditioners and it fixed my issues right up. But if you don't want the recurring expense of 2 products every single day, you could just get a more intense masque or deep conditioner, or just START using one if you haven't been before. And sleeping with your hair up instead of down, sleeping is when most of the friction on that area happens.
Dry hair can happen from hard water build up. Once I started using Malibu Chelate. It works. Changes my hair for the better every time. I adore your channel and your tips. One thing though I differ is I won’t use dry shampoo. I would rather wash my hair. That’s just me. I guess maybe it’s because it’s easier for me since I can just air dry and it looks decent. I cannot stand the smell of dirty hair. I’m sorry I just can’t. I will wash my hair when it’s oily. You are right about so many products not working. I won’t waste money. I take it back. Money is important and I don’t like clutter. You are so practical for sure. I thank you.
I've made the switch to the recommended products on your list and the one that made the most difference has been the pureology leave in. I use L'Oreal bond repair on my daughter and noticed there are lots of similar ingredients with the Redken Volume Injection. Would you say it is also a professional shampoo that will work similarly since they're both made by L'Oreal?
no. he already explained that the ingredients might be the same but in the drugstore ones it's extremely watered down, hence the cheaper price. only buy salon products.
I had back surgery 9 months ago. The first three to six months after surgery were spent learning to bend, walk, and function again. I'm fine now, and thankful for the surgery. However, my hair was the total loser here. The drugs given for the surgery and after the surgery made my hair brittle, easily broken, and caused about half my hair to fall out. Cute hats are great, but I really am hoping to get my hair back. I have very fine hair growing at the crown and forehead. I've cut my hair to shoulder length. Per the advice here from Chris, I'm using Olaplex 3, hair masks, and leave in conditioner. I also use the Olaplex bonding oil on the ends mostly. I really need to wash my hair once to twice a week. My overall hair is fine to medium. It's a miracle how good it's starting to look. Amazing! I did color recently, so making sure to keep up a healthy hair care routine. Right now, no heat. Thank you so much! I wish the person who I went to after the surgery helped me as much as you have.
What a difference! First day using Moroccan oil products. I go through container more. I co wash too. I’m a curly haired woman. I used way less conditioner this morning. It was so soft and not much tangles. Thank you!!!!
Any sort of starch will do it, really. When people powdered their hair all the time? That helped keep it clean when regular washing was a lot less convenient.
Thank you for your honesty. Long time ago I have bought hair products from the USA in London and felt my hair were stunning after ! Now I listen your precious advices and began to repair my long colored hair with some damages...None hairdresser in my town had given me such advices. I am glad now to see the results on my hair and will continue to use this care routine. Thank you very much. Hello from Paris, France❤
I'm pretty much doing everything he recommends except not really able to extend washes beyond 2 days, occasionally 3, and cowashing between shampoo washes. Dry shampoo just isn't going to be an option for me. But I have started mostly just air drying so basically never using heat. I am currently transitioning to my natural gray. I have definitely noticed much less breakout or fallout so I hope to gain a couple inches in overall length.
I transitioned to grey 2 years ago, and let me warn you in advance: your hair texture is going to change like you won't believe. I had to ditch all the products I used before because it just wasn't working for my hair anymore. On another note... - you're going to love your grey hair! I was already grey by age 26, and I can kick myself for not transitioning right from the get-go instead of colouring my hair for more than 10 years.
Not using heat and Cowashing are the likely culprits of frequent washing. Used properly, heat seals the cuticle and extra conditioner will attract more dirt etc.
One of the most crucial parts of the healthy hair routine he teaches is how to extend hair 3 or more days between washes. He even emphasizes in this video that dry shampoo *is* for everyone, and he does not recommend air drying (heat should only have to be applied once every 3 days or more). So it’s unclear how you are “pretty much doing everything he recommends” at this point in time. I hope you can find a dry shampoo that works for you and perhaps a more specific, in depth, video of his healthy hair routine and heat styling
@@Juststudiothings, I undertand that but I also am a oily haired, oily skinned person who lives in a climate where during the summer 100 degrees and humid and therefore sweating profusely is common.
Chris- Im attempting to go ‘silver’ (letting my roots be their natural color) I ordered big blowout and color fanatic and hairmask and leave-in from you. These quality products will work on my new silvers too, right?
Tnx for the absolutely great content! I personally would love to watch a video on your perspective on going gray and what hairstylists can do to help at the beginning and during the process of that transition. Of course the decision is for everyone personally to make, but there's a lot of uncertainty in my head around the topic and maybe you can shed some light. I've noticed that most of the models in your videos are young women, but I doubt if that correlates to the majority of your fangroup. ;-) I'm 54 myself, have dyed my hair for 3 decades, it's very fine and brittle (I'm using all of your tips, tnx again!) but going gray is something different. My partner isn't thrilled about the idea and I'm not sure if it's really going to make my hairstructure better. I would love a video on that. Tnx and love from the Netherlands!
I’ve completely transformed my hair by watching all your videos from washing my hair correctly twice and conditioner and leave in and also the redken abc. I bought the Kérastase hair serum and now I have hair that i love and clean my hair 2 times a week and style only after washing it last 3 days, now I know my hair stays in place doing everything correctly
Chris, you are unique as well as your channel. I started watching you last August and my hair is so healthy and amazing thanks to your advices. You also have saved me a lot of money. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤.
If you're fortunate, you get to live a long life. Things change. One of those things is hair. I'm in that golden stage of my life when my hair has gotten dryer, thinner in texture and amount. To save my hair, I stopped dying it and wash less frequently. I also let it grow long so when I do eventually get a haircut, I can have more options of styles to select from. What cut do you recommend to make it look or add volume and make my hair get a thicker youthful look. I want to keep my silver, so how do I make it look bright instead of dull and what care routine do you recommend?
Thank you so much for your videos. They are so helpful. My hair is so much healthier even after one week. I'm from Australia so some of your recommended products are difficult to source here, but I've gotten as close as possible . Love your work...and now I love my hair too. 🥰
Next time I get shampoo and conditioner, it will have to be the Redken volume injector, as I can't find the other brand here in Australia (I can only find Pulp Riot hair colour products).
Same in France for the Boston Pulp Riot : impossible to find, so I will get the Redken much easy to purchase. Same for the leave-in conditioner, I would love an alternative product easier to find in Europ…
Chris no one, not any professional salon I’ve ever been to? They color (blond) conditioner, nothing else, then flat iron, this is amazing yo me? Thank you, I wish I could get to your salon.
My mom used to get so mad at me for using so much conditioner!!! I figured it was bc she had short, fine hair and I had long, thick curly hair and she just didn’t get it. I need to show her this video! 😂
I was born in 1970 and wanted long hair since I can remember. My mom had short hair that wasn't very thick and, despite the fact that she went to cosmetology school, I don't think she knew what to do with my hair (which is much thicker) For conditioner, she put about 1/2 inch of "creme rinse" in a plastic tumbler filled it with water, stirred it with a comb and poured it over my hair. Then it took about half an hour of combing through it with "no more tangles" spray. She would get soooo frustrated!!! I can still hear her saying "You've got enough hair for three people!" Once I started doing my own hair, I realized what conditioner was!
@@erikaronska1096 My mom struggled with my hair as well. From France, where I was born to the Caribeans, when we moved in, it got worst, because of the humidity. I remember us going to store and her begging for a strong comb that wouldn't break when she was detangling my hair. I also remember us going to the phamarcist and meeting with a seller representative from René Futerer, like this channel, the women took her time to explained to us how to take care of my hair and what products to use. She was white and had 2c curls. My mum and I are black with 4c hair. (I want to mention that 😏) My mom did what she could, but when I took over, it was a total game changer 🥳 I found a way to not hurt myself. I'm tender headed, she is not. Not at all !!!! I gained a few inches. The only time I break a comb is when I got upset. And so on, and on... But she did a good job, most of all she taught me to love my hair, and she had an extremly heatly attitude towards it. 💘
I've recently been listening to Chris' videos. I have to say my hair looks and feels a lot better. Everyone plzz listen to this guy! I learnt a lot about hair care, thank you Chris for your efforts to share your hair knowledge to the world.
Hey Chris , What's the difference between leave in conditioner and leave in detangler? I use a detangler called NOU (Next of Us). No damage detangler that has 3A - 4C hair and mentions Low to High Porosity. What's that information about, and do we need to be paying attention to this? I love this product. It really gives my hair good slippery mids to ends. I hope I don't have to stop using it, my hair likes it.
I've always wondered that too and if it's just a marketing gimmick. I hope he answers. I have both products, but don't use the detangler nearly as much.
Hello! Well I just went down a 4 hour rabbit hole watching your videos! LOVE THEM! Question do you have any videos for all natural grey hair? Products you recommend etc. Also I’m about to purchase a Blowout brush any you can recommend? Would really appreciate hearing from you. Now back to that rabbit hole. 🤗🤪
THANK you. My hair is finally growing, shinier, frizz-less and bouncy, thanks to your advice. I cant believe the difference and it literally feels it happened overnight. Thank you so much. 💙🇦🇺💙
Can you do a video in fine wavy hair? I was using a leave in conditioner spray after I washed my hair. My hair stylist said do not use a leave in at all in fine hair. That’s why my hair was being weighed down.
I also have fine wavy hair. The Pureology leave in conditioner that he recommends is actually amazing. I’ve noticed a huge difference in my hair, my hairdresser even asked what I was using! This what I do: -Shampoo and condition -Squeeze out some water but hair should still be very wet -Spray 4-6 pumps of leave in conditioner in my hand -Apply focusing on ends and then midsections -Scrunch in the conditioner (comb optional) -Wrap hair up in microfiber towel for 10-20 mins I feel like the towel absorbs any excess product and as a result my hair is silky soft and not weighed down. Hope this helps 😊
I started using a little of my face moisturizer after the shower on my ends. I recently started this, and so far so good. hopefully, it helps because sometimes my hair can make me break out on my skin where it lays so I thought using my moisturizer on the ends will help out on both ends of the spectrum.
I've been following your advice now for 2 months and I see such a difference in my hair and how often I wash it. Do you have any recommendations for texturizing sprays for fine/thin hair? Thank you for sharing and making all these videos, it's been a real life changer!
Redken volume shampoo must be different ingredients in the U.K. 🇬🇧 than in the US 🇺🇸 because it suds and lathers like crazy. I looked at the ingredients and it’s got SLS in it 😔 so disappointing given the price point I paid too. I much prefer Rahua volume shampoo. That is worth every penny! It’s very rare to find a shampoo without sulphates but when you do 👌🏼 The best thing I’ve done recently is invest in a dyson hairdryer! Expensive BUT the sleek results it gives to my hair has me dreaming of wash day everyday! I absolutely love my post wash routine now that I get to use the dyson!
No the US Redkin volume shampoo has sodium laurel/laureth sulfate, just like my Head and Shoulders Redkin is owned by Garnier (a drug store brand) and so isn't standing on any principles about hair. The pulp riot Boston claims to be sulfate free, but it has DISODIUM LAURETH SULFOSUCCINATE and SODIUM LAURYL SULFOACETATE in it which I can see "sulfos" in there and is giving me pause. I hadn't run it through the Environmental Working Group website yet to tell me what those ingredients are.
@@internetopinion3043 damn, I for sure won’t be buying another bottle of Redken. Going to pay the price of a truly professional, organic shampoo from now on that only starts to really sud on the third shampoo.
@@seaspiritinme possibly. I haven’t heard the two oil types? Surely it’s as you say and the majority is sebum. Sadly, I’ve tried everything and can’t go the full 3 days without washing like he emphasised unless I’m not going anywhere on day 3 but even then, my roots are thick with oil and my only hairstyle option is a sleek pony or bun, no chance of wearing it down and my scalp itches like crazy. I feel like the 3 day window only works for people in a dry climate with lots of thick and corse hair.
Dyson ruins any hair, it’s drying it out due to speed - and then it breaks so much easier. I wish someone could’ve told me that , it took me 2 years to realize this (now I have short bob) Also SLS are good, don’t be afraid of them if your scalp is oily it’s your only good option
@@anyohaseyo3976 that’s not my experience as it has heat technology to measure the temperature of the hair at several times per second. I never over dry my hair, once a section is done, it’s done, plus I make use of the cool shot and lowest heat setting. If you prep your hair with heat protection and a blow dry serum, you’re good to go. I’m finally getting to three days between hair washes... took a while but my scalp is adapting!
Before coming across your channel I used to spend ( waste ) lots of money on products that just did nothing 😅🙅🏻♀️as described on the bottle but after following your recommendations I still spend money but on the right products and it feels worth it plus I don’t pick every other product I see 🌼🙆🏻♀️
Chris, question! Is it ok to use two different shampoos when you wash or should it be the same one? I have toyed around with using a clarifying shampoo for the first wash eash round and then my favorite one for dry/fine hair. It does seem like that works well for me, but I am still curious.
I just tried the repair routine today, and i already feel a difference like woah. My curls have always been super easy to weigh down because I have thin hair, but I did the routine and did not use any other products after and my curls are BEAUTIFUL and way less frizzy already! Seriously thank you!!
I stopped using shampoo, I replaced it with Nexxus scalp scrub. It’s amazing! I also added a water softer to my shower head and my hair looks so much better!
I love your videos! Thank you for giving actual reasons behind your advice instead of peddling miracle cure-all products. I have two questions: 1) my hair has been changing texture. It is medium thickness/density, and used to be super straight and smooth, but as I get older it has become more frizzy in general and wavy around my face. I don't think the frizz is from dryness because I only wash once a week and I use leave-in and oils, so I assume I am developing natural waves, but idk how to make it look good. I've tried using gel a la the curly girl method but it doesn't look great, and it makes me have to wash my hair more often. I've just been using a light oil spray to calm it down, but I can't get the waves to look defined and pretty. Is there a better way? 2) what do you think of bar shampoo/conditioner? I have been using them for a while because I'm trying to get as close to zero-waste as possible. I like the ones I have, they get my hair clean, but they are not helping the frizz situation. Do you have favorites? Techniques? I appreciate you man keep it up! :)
Chris you are a brilliant!!! Following your recommendations has changed my hair for the better! Never looked better! Everyday I walk with confidence thanks to you! And for bonus I saved a ton of mullah!!! Thank you million times over!!! Keep up the great work!!! 😊
Hi Chris, from the UK. I’ve switched to Redken’s volume injection shampoo and conditioner and I’m now using the Redken quick blow out along with the Pureology leave in conditioner and what a difference! My hair feels so much better and I’m leaving my hair 5 days between washes which is honestly a miracle. My question is do you recommend any other dry shampoo other than the Berlin for fine hair? I’ve tried to get it in the uK but it’s not available. Thanks 😊
So many questions! - can you recommend a cruelty free dry shampoo for medium hair? - if you don't get a lot of foam after two washes, would you shampoo a third time?
Hi Chris! Love your videos, for me they have actually been life changing and since starting my simplified routine with your recommended products, I’ve noticed a huge difference after struggling with my hair since I can remember. I live in Berlin, Germany but even had my mom bring over two cans of the Berlin dry shampoo that I ordered from your salon 😂 I have a question about Olaplex 3 - should you wash your hair before putting it in? I just find it personally counterintuitive to put it on my hair when I’ve used product in my hair before hand. Thanks for any insight on this!!
My hair reaches pass my butt, i had no issue with it, but my pregnancy made it really dry and brittle. I used to donate my hair but this time im embarrassed of how badly damage it looks, so im gonna fix it up with your advice and then donate it once its healthy again.
I tried the Olaplex no 3 it made my hair so dry and even worse, never again... My hairdresser said that Olaplex makes the hair good when you use it and when you stop the hair gets worse but my hair hated it instantly
The problem is that i want to follow your trinity routine but i belong from India, Asia which makes it hard to get any of the products here even if we do it's thrice the price as compared to USA.
I discovered your videos a few weeks ago but before that I'd managed to get to 62yrs old doing everything on your videos said you that I shouldn't be doing!! So I had terrible hair! Wow I dread to think how much I've spent over the years on supermarket shampoos and conditioners! But since I've started to follow your advice with products and techniques and tools - I can't believe how much better my hair has got already! Thank you so much!!
Hey BP, what are your thoughts on using a shampoo palm brush? I feel like I'm getting my scalp cleaner agitating my shampooed scalp in small circles, and it stops me from using my fingernails. But I have fine hair and am getting a little bit of a back brushed effect which, while is great for volume, I have been told is damaging. Any recommendations or warnings for me?
Wow it's actually the opposite for me. I've never understood why shampoo&conditioner sets have the same amount of product because most women have medium or longer hair like me and I always run much, much faster out of conditioner, since shampoo goes only on the scalp. I really don't get it.
Olaplex can't fix your hair- it's just an illusion. I use premium products but the truth is that nothing is better than a mix of natural ingredients ( such as apple cider vinegar 2x or 3x a month, oils etc) with professional products , minimum heat, good diet etc. I like Kerastase and Moroccan oil products but it's best to have one shampoo & conditioner with more natural ingredients that you use often and more chemical ( "professional") on special occasions - why? because hair becomes super dry if you use only "professional" products all the time. The most ridiculous invention in my opinion is dry shampoo - don't wash your hair every day but use dry shampoo ? I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure it's better to wash your hair often and use good quality ingredients each time rather than using dry shampoo ( that can harm your scalp ) or heat ( cause damage to your length ). Damage ends can't be fixed - When you stop using Olaplex you will get same damage as you had before . Btw the overuse of any strong hair care products has the potential to damage hair. I'm European many ingredients used in the US are banned in Europe .
Just because ingredients are natural doesn't mean that they're effective or safe. Apple cider vinegar is very drying on the hair and is not formulated for that use the way hair products are. See what dermatologist say about it since derms cover not just skin but hair and nails.
@@COgirl394 I agree , that's why you don't use apple cider vinegar every day. Apple Cider vinegar helps you to keep natural PH of your scalp - there s no need for harsh chemical peelings if apple cider vinegar makes wonders for my hair. Nothing is more drying than chemicals in professional products. I'm not against them because I use them as well , but it's important to use such products in moderation. Just years of experinces..... Ive been testing out everything from super expensive conditioners for 80 USD to other expensive hair treatments etc.. so far I got best result using both - natural and " professional" products. When I stopped using heat often Ive noticed that my hair became soft, longer and certainly stronger. Unfortunately , neither thermal heat protection nor olaplaex 3 offered same results.
@@COgirl394 Btw olaplex works like a makeup for your hair. If you have bad complexion no makeup can change it - you can cover your face up with very heavy foundation but late at night you see that your face has the same problem. It's better to cure the problem rather than pretending that it doesn't exist. You will feel better for a moment but it's not fixing up your damaged hair.
Hey there! Ive been growing out my hair the past 3 years now and it has been a journey to say the least. I was not conditioning my hair for the first 2 years or so because i thought since my hair was oily, conditioning it would just add more oil. My scalp and hair was so oily and itchy all the time and i was getting folliculitis pretty bad. The past year i really took hold and started trying new products as well as got on medication for acne. I also found a shampoo conditioner that worked well for me(apple cider vinegar Shampoo/Conditioner by Aveeno) it was the first time my scalp and hair felt normal and i could run my fingers through my hair without irritation or discomfort. I have recently found you and have learned a ton!! so thank you for that. My newest problems are i can only go 3 days tops without washing and my hair is super static-y all the time it sticks to my face and facial hair. It drives me nuts so i have it up in a bun a lot. Ive been looking to add 2 things into my routine that i saw in your videos and have never used once in my life. those being dry shampoo as well as leave in conditioner. I was looking to get that Berlin dry shampoo as i believe it might help me get to the 3-5 day between washes stage. I have fine hair type per your quiz and im having a hard time finding that dry shampoo by Pulp Riot do you have any recommendations for alternate products? everything on here is out of stock. I was looking at the IGK dry shampoo's for fine hair. The lightest being "Jet Lag" and then "Direct Flight" for medium/fine hair. Is there a product to remove static as well? or a routine i could to to prevent or remove the static? thanks again for everything you have taught me and everyone else here.I speak for us all when i say I appreciate you!
Have you purchased the pureology leave in conditioner? How do you like it, if so?

Some possible causes, that these people could have lost hair from, that I read/thought about were:
@@wagnis1 yeah I use K18, Olaplex will melt my weft extensions if I use it.

I always thought the “wash twice” was a marketing gimmick to make u use more. But when you said it in a diff video, i tried it. My hair stays cleaner longer and doesn’t get gunky from products like it used to! Thank you! 😃
I thought it was a gimmick too!
It’s like a double cleanse for your skin for your hair. hair. First wash to get rid of the dirt second to clean it.
I thought it was the second lather that stripped the good oils!! I haven't double-washed in years and years.
Same. It allowed me to go longer between washes. I used to HAVE to wash EVERYDAY or or felt like I had candle wax in my hair.
It's like brushing the teeth twice, to get cleaner and fresher for longer.
Who in the world uses more shampoo than conditioner? I go through three bottles of conditioner before the first bottle of shampoo is even done.
Right?!?!
I used to be guilty of that. It happens ❤
Legit question....
i do 🫣💔
I didn't know you were supposed to use conditioner on all of your hair until like last year.
Same! I’m really enjoying the Pulp Riot shampoo and conditioner.
What oil did you get ?
oo what did you get?
I got the Olaplex 7 hair oil bc my hair is fine!
@Lara ooh I just returned all my olaplex. 🥲 it stopped working so well for me. Ogx argan oil is a nice spray but they're discontinued
I love your enthusiasm!! You are the first in my experience to not push constant trims as the solution. Keep the videos coming!!
I noticed a massive difference when I started down the curly hair road and learned the 'squish to condish' method. I found I got more conditioner throughout my than just on the top and bottom strands. I use a lot of conditioner but my hair has looked and felt better ever since.
I went a whole week without another wash. Wow. I can’t believe how great my hair looks. Thank you for the great advice.
I do that too when I can. It does make your hair feel silky
Thanks so much for what you do
I'm 55 and stumbled onto your videos a few months ago....ive learned more from you then I've ever known. Thank you.

I feel the same way. Granny and Great granny here. My hair has been such an issue. I inherited my dads curls. Also worked outdoors most of my life. Have to say I rocked the 80's dos. I woke up perfectly coifed then, LOL. During our big storms this last week, had to be out in it.

I've heard many times that you should wash your hair before using Olaplex #3. Especially if you oil your hair and accumulate product build up throughout the week.?? Therefore, Olaplex#3 can penetrate into the hair better? Is this accurate info or does it matter?

Yes! Love to hear that 🙏
Thank very much for explaining how to repair hair and the products and techniques
how do you prevent hair from tangling? when i see people that curl their hair their hair isn’t as tangled as mine.
@@ErinCRN use a satin or silk pillow cover to prevent this
Dry hair can happen from hard water build up.
I'm hype! Love your content so much! We need more people basing their content in fact/reality as you do.
omg, you KNOW me so well….all of this consumerism is overwhelming…ty PROFESSOR, ty EXACTLY what I needed to hear….
I've been taking your advice to heart, and the dryness and split ends of my long hair have improved. Thank you.
What a difference! First day using Moroccan oil products. I go through container more. I co wash too. I’m a curly haired woman. I used way less conditioner this morning. It was so soft and not much tangles. Thank you!!!!
Baby powder does the same thing as dry shampoo, is much cheaper and lasts a lot longer. For those of us with chronic oily hair, its life changing.
Any sort of starch will do it, really. When people powdered their hair all the time? That helped keep it clean when regular washing was a lot less convenient.
Cornstarch also works very well.
Air drying your hair he said will have you washing sooner.
Chris-
Im attempting to go ‘silver’ (letting my roots be their natural color)
I ordered big blowout and color fanatic and hairmask and leave-in from you.
Awesome Judy 🙏 love to hear it!
LOL :)
I can still hear her saying "You've got enough hair for three people!"
Once I started doing my own hair, I realized what conditioner was!
(I want to mention that 😏)
My mom did what she could, but when I took over, it was a total game changer 🥳
I found a way to not hurt myself. I'm tender headed, she is not. Not at all !!!!
I gained a few inches.
The only time I break a comb is when I got upset.
And so on, and on...
But she did a good job, most of all she taught me to love my hair, and she had an extremly heatly attitude towards it. 💘
I have thin oily hair, my daughter's is thick and curly, I use 3 or 4 times more conditioner on her hair. It just makes sense
I also wonder about that..... Honestly, I'm just replying to this comment so that I'll get a notification if he replies
This what I do:
-Shampoo and condition
-Squeeze out some water but hair should still be very wet
-Spray 4-6 pumps of leave in conditioner in my hand
-Apply focusing on ends and then midsections
-Scrunch in the conditioner (comb optional)
-Wrap hair up in microfiber towel for 10-20 mins
I feel like the towel absorbs any excess product and as a result my hair is silky soft and not weighed down.
So you put it on wet hair to blow dry out in? I have issues with break outs and such too. How has it been going for you?
It’s very rare to find a shampoo without sulphates but when you do 👌🏼
The best thing I’ve done recently is invest in a dyson hairdryer! Expensive BUT the sleek results it gives to my hair has me dreaming of wash day everyday! I absolutely love my post wash routine now that I get to use the dyson!
No the US Redkin volume shampoo has sodium laurel/laureth sulfate, just like my Head and Shoulders
Redkin is owned by Garnier (a drug store brand) and so isn't standing on any principles about hair.
I wish someone could’ve told me that , it took me 2 years to realize this (now I have short bob)
Also SLS are good, don’t be afraid of them if your scalp is oily it’s your only good option
It is ok to use two different types of shampoo but if you clarify every single wash it will eventually dry your hair out.
I just tried the repair routine today, and i already feel a difference like woah. My curls have always been super easy to weigh down because I have thin hair, but I did the routine and did not use any other products after and my curls are BEAUTIFUL and way less frizzy already! Seriously thank you!!
I love Olaplex 3, it is literally saving my hair.
I stopped using shampoo, I replaced it with Nexxus scalp scrub. It’s amazing! I also added a water softer to my shower head and my hair looks so much better!
I think for the lay-person like me, it's really hard to know the difference between damaged hair and dry hair
Hi. Which are the best products to use if you have blond highlights ?
you should send him an email! i’m sure he’d be happy to help :)
Thanks 😊
He mentioned Redken Pillow Proof in another comment I saw elsewhere. I bought it and its super light, love it
Living proof dry shampoo
So many questions!
- can you recommend a cruelty free dry shampoo for medium hair?
- if you don't get a lot of foam after two washes, would you shampoo a third time?
Hi Chris! Love your videos, for me they have actually been life changing and since starting my simplified routine with your recommended products, I’ve noticed a huge difference after struggling with my hair since I can remember. I live in Berlin, Germany but even had my mom bring over two cans of the Berlin dry shampoo that I ordered from your salon 😂
I have a question about Olaplex 3 - should you wash your hair before putting it in? I just find it personally counterintuitive to put it on my hair when I’ve used product in my hair before hand. Thanks for any insight on this!!
My hair reaches pass my butt, i had no issue with it, but my pregnancy made it really dry and brittle. I used to donate my hair but this time im embarrassed of how badly damage it looks, so im gonna fix it up with your advice and then donate it once its healthy again.
Chris what do you think about this law suit that’s going on with Olaplex in regards to making peoples hair shed? Bullshit?
This man is MY hair savior!!🥳👍🏼🤗
I tried the Olaplex no 3 it made my hair so dry and even worse, never again... My hairdresser said that Olaplex makes the hair good when you use it and when you stop the hair gets worse but my hair hated it instantly
Yeah thats what Im worried about.
I can’t use Olaplex either.
@@KittieHoney Well I don’t want to be spending that kind of money if it doesn’t work. Maybe Chris could send us a free sample if it’s so great. Lol
How often do i need to use Olaplex 3 repair? 1x/week?
The problem is that i want to follow your trinity routine but i belong from India, Asia which makes it hard to get any of the products here even if we do it's thrice the price as compared to USA.
I discovered your videos a few weeks ago but before that I'd managed to get to 62yrs old doing everything on your videos said you that I shouldn't be doing!! So I had terrible hair! Wow I dread to think how much I've spent over the years on supermarket shampoos and conditioners! But since I've started to follow your advice with products and techniques and tools - I can't believe how much better my hair has got already! Thank you so much!!
Awesome to hear! 🙏
How do I stop my hair from tangling? It's long and maybe 10, 15 min after combing it, it's tangled and looks terrible.
Hi Chris
Many of products that you recommend can‘t be found in europe
Can you recommend good leave in conditioner that can be found in europe?
Question, apparently Olaplex isn’t good for the hair and they’re being sued. What is your thought on that matter?
He did an entire video on that

Thank you, I shall check it out
On damaged hair - what if we have a repair product on hand but.. it's a mask? Would it make sense to use it for both steps?
Hey BP, what are your thoughts on using a shampoo palm brush? I feel like I'm getting my scalp cleaner agitating my shampooed scalp in small circles, and it stops me from using my fingernails. But I have fine hair and am getting a little bit of a back brushed effect which, while is great for volume, I have been told is damaging. Any recommendations or warnings for me?

Wow! Thanks for the lessons. Such a well done video!😊
Wow it's actually the opposite for me. I've never understood why shampoo&conditioner sets have the same amount of product because most women have medium or longer hair like me and I always run much, much faster out of conditioner, since shampoo goes only on the scalp. I really don't get it.
Do you have any other recommendations besides the redken one for thin hair? I can’t stand the smell of it. Thanks!!!
Saturday Morning with a cup of coffee and the professor. ❤ 💇🏻♀️
I am learning a lot from your videos and has ordered the shampoo and conditioner and leave in conditioner and hair oil, fingers crossed.
Do you like K18?
I read somewhere that using conditioner before shampoo helps hydrate the hair better and doesn't weigh it down as much? Or is that a big no-no?
FIRSTTT
Omg what a difference the second wash makes!
