Update, it's not bed mesh fade. Working with qidi to figure out what's going on and will update when i have a solid answer Keep the community tab in the Eye balls for more updates i need a break.
Oh no 😆 well they thought about it and it's easily fixed yet a bit bodged. Told them reconsider the way they do it now. Creality uses a spring clamping mechanism.
I really love the way you address the comments! People who make their whole personality defending whatever brand they own or like is pathetic. People who spend so much time being negative in comment sections need to come back to reality. It is always possible to add to a conversation, especially with constructive criticism. If you are just here to throw insults or attack people, you are wasting everyone's time including your own.

I love your 'fanboy' discussion. For whatever it is worth, I am now one of your subscribers. Thank you for standing up and saying what needed to be said.
I don’t understand why if they are that much of a fanboy, why they would be watching a video that is not for their brand. That is like going to a bar and complaining that you don’t like a beer they sell. It is easy. Don’t get one. No one is forcing them to buy something they don’t want and if they are jealous they need to take that issue up with their chosen brand. The conversation would go “ hey Bamboo have you seen the Qidi plus 4? What are you doing to make me not want to get one?” Instead they take it out on content creators just showing what they have to show.
For $799, this is definitely a great feature-rich option. I mean, the thing can print advanced filaments and gets hot enough to print things like PC and similar. Insane idea that you're getting that kind of versatility for less than $1000. Also, as a blind person, I'm glad this thing potentially will work with Octoprint as I can monitor my printer using my computer and screen reader software so I know what's going on. The problem I have with Bamboo is that their stuff is not compatible with my specific needs in mind and no Octoprint support so that means I literally can not use it as I can't see the touchscreen. Locked down options like that are usually terrible for accessibility for people with disabilities like myself. No one will talk about this but an open-software type of approach is best for blind folks who want to 3d print.
Leveling knobs is a great thing. I added them to my K1 max and got my bed leveled dead flat on all 4 corners and only have a deviation of .14mm. Its well worth the effort to use the knobs to level.
I'm not really sure how anyone could complain about it. You need to tram the bed on any consumer level printer. At this price point, it sure as well won't be done by motors. The variance of the bed, z screws and any mounting used between the two needs to be accounted for.
Thank you for your honesty. I ordered my Qidi before I saw your first video. I now know what to look for before I get going on some serious printing. Thanks again
great update! I appreciate your direct talk.. Some of the reviewers are afraid to make the manufacturer upset, you are more concerned about your viewers. bravo!
great video, i was a Phrozen Arco kickstarter supporter and was able to get my money back!! ran out an purchased this machine, its noisier than i'd like but overall i'm happy. I did get a 1.0 version, so updating the firmware tonight and happy to have come across this video. cheers and keep up the great job.
VERY happy you popped up on my recommendations and YOU have earned a sub. Honest review, and Fanboy Fighter! Keep it up, and see you in the next one! I'm a Prusa user (not a Fanboy, but a fan of) and have MK4s along with the Creality K1Max. Nice to see another competitor other than Bambu doing more at this build volume.
@@NoizieWorks That is why I decided to try the K1Max. I wanted the open source of Prusa with the enclosure and reasonable CoreXY of Bambu. Honestly I think the Bambu would have been a better out of the box experience. There are tons of quality issues with the Creality and the software has no preset profiles for any nozzles other than 0.4. But for the price…you get what you pay for. Glad to see Qidi higher up on the list of viable alternatives. Next is how open is the system to modding…?
Great video love your sense of humor. I have two early QIDI resin printers and the after sales service simply fantastic. Now I want a filament printer so i'm looking at purchasing the Qidi4 plus. Keep up the great reviews.
I'm still unable to use my Peopoly Magneto X. The Qidi Plus4 in that good of condition out of the gate, and a firmware fix that fast, that makes it viable for me. Thanks for taking the time to give a critical review.
I do love that you point out the stupid brand loyal comments that provide no value, but stroke the ego of those that made the comment..... I have noticed that the space efficiency and location of features were much better thought out in my Plus4 than my Max3. That little inspection port on the hotend/extruder connection is really a nice feature. When I clogged it using PETG-CF in the factory 0.4mm nozzle, it was ridiculously easy to be back up and running.
I basically see both sides. I don't think products should be released before they are ready, so in that respect the first batch of printers should come with a stable and feature complete firmware. However, I do think it is standard practice in the modern age to update any piece of technology you get when you first use it. Either way, I think any person looking to buy a new piece of tech, or a 3D printer specifically, should do their best to consider the product as it is currently sold rather than by past judgments. So in that respect, if they watch your first video and then watch this follow-up, they can rest assured that most issues present with units built before the launch have now been solved. What is most important to me is not if a company has any issues with products, but how they handle them. At least Qidi is using open source as their base and is attempting to stick as close to Klipper as possible, as the community wanted. Plus I know they have excellent customer service. Thank you thank you for this update. Making me very excited to start using my Plus4, my hopefully later today!
Great perspective, mine as well. Idk of any manufacturer that hasn't had some type of QA issue with a release. Just watched the first video last night and now with this I'm even more confident on choosing this as my new printer!
@Alexoliveira-ug5mh i don't think there are part number ons the plastic housing of the bearings. They really think it's not a big deal but apparently it's a problem since the x plus 3 lol
My Plus 4 has the new 115 volt board, easy install make sure you see proper updated wiring in their video at end of it. THe wiring for new board varies on order on right side terminals be sure you put new board in according to new wiring. Love the 4 pLus, zero complaints from me........This is a fantastic printer and best deal out their for multicolor capable with heated chamber and great new heavy bed and wider belt. Prints wonderful! Like Bambu and others companies put stuff out fast, QIDI took care of issue and even gave extra yr warranty!!! QIDI support rocks! ZERO COMPLAINTS FROM ME! Bambu has recalls on their mini or a1 design, stuff happens and QIDI made good! Two thumbs up to QIDI support, awesome job! Life goes on, many happy QIDI Plus4 folks.
I agree with your statements about testing it as it is. Your attitude reminds me of some of my Dutch friends. When it comes to business, everything is just a matter of fact; direct, unvarnished plain spoken language. I never had the time to visit Belgium, but being an American, I appreciate the culture of both countries very much. You can probably imagine why. My experience with Qidi has been great. I sent one email about the expressing concern about the relay and they got back to me right away. They then sent all the parts and I installed all the fixes no problems. I could have sent it back and taken a refund but I never really had any problems with it so I'm keeping it.
Right now i'm happy to test it like i did, it's very clear now that the update culture many claimed is not true and plenty of people don't even touch it. Happy to hear everything worked out for you and yes i can imagine 😄
About the rough prints thinking about it. I normally print at 275c on abs so it's probably also a bit of incosistent extrusion. Will do reprint with propper temps so look at the community tab tomorrow for on update on that. Also look around for youtubers with a lot more hours on it, i only had about a week.
Great information! I appreciate honesty in reviews. I didn't hear anything in your last video or this one that was negative, just your experience. Querstion: If the price difference is not a major factor, would you say that the Bambu X1C is. abetter choice (currently) for someone with less 3D printing experience. I have had a bed slinger for a couple of years, but was an XY Core machine. I want the X1C, but had hoped Bambu Labs would release a bigger volume bed option.
@@mickeymallette2663 100% yes, it's probably THE beginiest friendly printer out there or like i call it the APPLE of the printers. But prusa and qidi are getting very close
The Bambu crowd is OBNOXIOUS. Grant from 3DM got insane hate from that crowd after he pointed out some concerns and issues with their machines. They are blindly loyal for no reason. Qidi support has been damn good in my opinion, starting with their older machines (I mates) they were more than helpful with any issues I had, even with helping me troubleshoot mods on the older machines. Their support is top tier!
Great video! 100% agree it needs to be an unbox/setup and press play printer to truly compete with Bambu Lab. Going from a few years of heavily modded Creality machines to an X1C I wont ever go back to a machine that needs fiddling to even work right. I like to spend my time designing prints and trusting that they will print, not fixing my printer so it will even print. The bed levelling is still a touch concerning for me because I had many issues with probing and auto Z offsets in Klipper but that's likely due to the setup and quality of the aftermarket probes I used so we'll see! I will be keeping an eye on this machine because the price to feature ratio cannot be denied. But to be honest, the X1C can already print some pretty exotic materials and with the same amount of time spent to do a couple small mods to the X1C (chamber heater and thermistor wire resistance mods) as you may have to spend getting this up to the same "press print and walk away" quality level as the X1C, the X1C can achieve a higher (than stock) hotend temp and heat the chamber to the same temp as the Plus 4. TL;DR - Looks promising but needs more time to see if they improve the out of the box experience. If they do, I would 100% buy the Plus 4 over a P1S or X1C, especially if/when they release their version of an AMS. If you already own an X1C and don't need the additional build plate volume, then the X1C can be modded very easily to print pretty much all of the same materials.
Thanks for the rapid update. Be sure to rest up you appear to have been non stop. I think I'm going to buy one of these and pack in my kobra 2 max. The sacrifice in build volume seems worth it to me.
The loose bearing issue has actually been present on the X-Plus 3 and X-Max 3 printers which seem to use a similar clamping method between the toolhead and bearing sleeve. Makes your issue doubly poor as Qidi even have a video they send out for the 3 series printers showing you how to disassemble the toolhead and stuff packing foam into it.
@@NoizieWorks That's bloody unacceptable if you ask me. Giving the consumer a workaround, instead of sending a new unit or at least a new part for the consumer.
@Alexoliveira-ug5mh I have send them a bit of a spicy email that it's unacceptable. Will see what turns out of it but they are probably starting to hate me a little 😅
@@NoizieWorks I've only started watching your videos last week and so far, I am loving your content. Keep giving us your honest opinion and we will always have your back. I am looking for a new 3D printer to buy, but the fact that QIDI couldnt get a simple component right, worries me. Not even my old UPBOX has a play like that. How heavy is that Gantry? Do you know? A 3D printer gantry should be as light as a feather, it's a FDM and not removing material like a CNC router, where a rigid and heavy gantry favors the design.
I'm keeping an eye on this printer for now. I've been thrilled with my Xmax 3, but I bought it after all of the engineering and firmware issues from the first batches were fixed.
If Bambu releases a printer of this size, it will be priced very high. They currently have only one printer with heated chamber, which is X1E, and it is two times more expensive than regular X1C. X1E costs about four times more than the Quidi Plus 4.
I use a Bambu X1C at work, and I have one of these QP4's going BRRRRR ten feet from me as I'm typing this. I like both machines. I am liking this one more because it uses standard Klipper. I haven't gotten the chance to use the heated chamber yet, but I'm thinking that I'm going to jump into the deep end of the pool with some nylon strng trimmer line and see if I can get it to not warp. Now, my first printer was a FLSUN delta back in 2016 - those only came as a kit. You put every single part together. Every nut and bolt. So, when I got the machine plugged in and the basic calibration stuff wouldn't work until I did this update, it didn't phase me. The Bambu arrived ready to print out of the box, the Qidi didn't. The Qidi has a heated chamber, the Bambu doesn't. The Qidi has a bigger build volume than the Bambu. The Qidi just cost me about $760 with discount code, while the Bambu cost my boss around $1100ish. I will probably add multi-color to this thing at some point. So far I am happy with it.
@lowellhouser7731 thanks for the comment and that's exactly what i mean. Things like shipping broken firmware aren't ok anymore. Btw it's very close to stock klipper but still a dirty version so DON'T UPDATE FLUIDD. I'm glad you like the system and let me know how the trimmer line attempt went ✌️
@@NoizieWorks So far 3/4 of the way through the first print. Wrapped a spare plastic spool with trimmer line. Ran it through a drying cycle in the machine. Put it in a dry box and ran it into the machine. Temps: Nozzle 255c, bed 105c, chamber 65c. 40mm/s. No brim. One coat of VisionMiner bed adhesive over the PEI build plate. No warping so far. I'm planning to let it cool down naturally. gonna try a benchy after that.
Spoke too soon. One of the parts being printed has some slight warping. It might actually be usable though. EDIT: Corners slightly lifted off the bed, BUT the the parts are still usable mechanically. Trying the benchy.
Printed with so far : PLA, PETG, PCTG, nylon trimmer line. The first three were basically flawless. You want the roof panel on and chamber door shut for PCTG, but I didn't use active heating. The nylon is a mixed bag so far. Next up Polymaker PA12CF.
fingers crossed for a Black Friday sale! i LOVE my Q1 Pro, and if it goes down to $700 i'll scoop one up right away...oh who am i kidding, i'll spend the $800 too.
I like the Plus 4 a lot, especially because it's running on Klipper. However the skipping of the first batch is probably wise, because the bearing issue is by far the worst of the teething problems that you faced. Firmware will fix a lot of these issues, but can't glue (?) a bearing in place. This might be my new printer, but I'll wait until the Qidi AMS equivalent is out.
smart move. Let them iron out all the issues first. The new AMS will have some issues for sure. I've learned my lesson and stopped being an early adopter.
😄 First! Your reaction to fanboys made me slap that subscription-button immediately. Honesty is a key word for good reviews - kudos for that! Second - really nice follow-up since I´m on the fence on buying this (and CMS next year) or wait for the Creality K2 Plus for the extra volume, the CFS delivery etc. I really prioritize consistent quality rather than speed when printing functional parts (often ABS) - so there is that. Anyhoo - nice work!
I received my Plus 4 a couple of days ago. (Purchased because my 10yo Folgertech FT-5 is suffering from an odd skew problem which skew correction did not correct. I will completely rebuild and upgrade it.) I am currently in the process of upgrading the firmware. All in all, I find the build quality to be pretty top notch and I shall see about the printing in the coming days.
I see your point about transparency about the out of box experience - but it may also be worth considering that most people searching for info will probably find that review video and not necessarily the followup. Given that, if something simple like an update dramatically changes the quality, I’d lean towards including it in the first video.
thanks for your great review ,i have 2 bambu p1s printers and this is the first printer that i have seen that has better specs at a similler price ,so when they have ironed out the problems i will buy one . PS not a fan boy 😂😂😂
I have been thinking about getting this printer because my Ender 3 Pro had a long life now that is slowly coming to an end. You made me think again though because of the things you said about not getting the first batch because of fixes in later revisiosns. Do you have any examples of things that got fixed on other printers with newer revisions and do you know if Qidi sends out kits to retrofit older revisions?
I had my new Plus4 delivered today. Unfortunately an out of the box issue, that I've had to contact support about. Ran the first auto bed levelling after setup. It started through the motions then a "!! No trigger on probe after full movement" error. There was a confirm button which I pressed. The bed then proceeded to slam into the print head, putting a nice little mark on the PEI sheet and giving the same error. Tried the firmware update, then a repeat of the attempt. Unfortunately, the same error again. Now waiting on support to respond. Makes me think about your chapter "Should you avoid first batch products.." Ho hum.
@pauly-v-sixnine Unfortunately with qidi products, it seems to be a wait out the first batch type of deal. Especially if the parts are not critical. Have you removed the cover to go over all the wires? Sounds like the probe isn't working right now so i would start looking there.
Thanks, I liked your videos. No shortage of companies using customers to do their beta testing and QC for them, only to move on to new models before everything is fixed because of dipping sales due to sending the previous ones out with all sorts of problems and inconsistent build quality. No company today thinks they should wait until a product even does everything they advertise or that it is actually working to send it out. What's your pick for most reliable and best print quality printer today?
@KeepYourPawsOffMe Thanks! Hard to answer, haven't tested a huge amount of printers but for the same features and price... not a lot of options. Prusa seems to have their shit together with the XL but it's gonna cost you and bambu is launching a supposedly bigger version early next year. K2 seems to be interesting, sounds like they are finally taking the time to do things right but that's still to be seen. If you're comfortable with building a kit, voron or ratrig are both options to keep eyes on.
I think the best solution is to update the printer and tell your viewers they need to do the same. This way anyone who watches your review won't be misled if they receive a printer with the old firmware. This is the best solution for the manufacturer, for you, and for your viewers. To waste time on reviewing a printer with old firmware that has already been updated is coutner-productive for everyone.
Hey, great review and appreiciate your real world usage and process. Do you think you can confirm the 305x305 build area...perhaps combine that with just a first layer test? this will show how good it is, and confirm a large square object on the plate (I have a need to print and object need every millimeter. As for first layer, I like that it has all the software and auto levelling AND that it also has manual knobs should something wierd happens...sometimes manual stuff is just cool. - subscribed 😀
Did you work out what version of Klipper is installed? Is it Mainline and updateable via Fluidd or (like the x3 series) a custom version that cannot be updated (without jumping through a bunch of hoops, re-flashing the emmc and starting from scratch)? Cheers and keep up the stellar work.
Sorry, just read through the comments and saw the Klipper install is dirty. That answers my question but I really, really wish that manufacturers in general would not do this.
@@john_beardon My understanding is it is a much closer to clean Klipper install than their previous attempts and is at least more up to date and fully featured. Should be much easier to keep up to date going forward.
I’m brand new at 3d printing. Bought this machine, updated it, my first print (benchy), when I try to print the machine lights flutter then the machine shuts down and reboots. So not sure if I should return it. Can’t use it at all.
Did you post it in the qidi fb group? I think i have seen it coming by. If you are technically comfortable i would disconnect the printer from the wall and go check all power supply connections and the connection to the board on the back. If you're not comfortable try and get a refund but chances are they will try to help you first. Hope it helped and good luck!
The first batch should be the *best* batch because it's what's going to set expectations. This is the batch that needs 100% QC to catch anything missed in prototyping. 16.48 could not agree more.
I did post in the Facebook group and someone suggested looking on the bottom of the printer to make sure it was on my voltage requirement. And that was the problem. It was on 230 and I needed 115.
Did you test the quality of its miniature printing ability? I'm probably buying a printer in a few months and I'd prefer to do it FDM. If however it's just not up to par vs a decent resin printer that's cheaper I might decide to go with resin.
Resin is always going to give you much better performance for a lot cheaper not counting the resin. The Elegoo S3 series are now basically no brain deals if you want to try it out but know it's a messy process. This machine is more designed to be printed with large object high temp engineering materials so i don't think it will fit your use case as you will find cheaper printers with the same buildvolume without all the fancy bells that will give you 98% of the same performance.
I am considering a 3D printer. I know I want an enclosed printing area for a lot of reasons. QIDI is at a much cheaper price so it’s my lead candidate. I looked on the Bamboo web site in their tech support area and there are a fair number of issues with Bamboo support like it can take weeks to get a response back. Faster printing times and the ability to have a heated chamber seems like important characteristics. I still have not purchased yet. Working on my 3D models first and if Kamala Harris gets elected there is a much better start-up costs tax breaks since one does not really know if the product concept’s demand. So may have to do several product concepts to get one that is a money maker.
@RichardBaker1 If you're not afraid to work on a printer then i still recommend the plus 4. I would suggest to maybe wait untill the end of the year as i suspect most of the flaws will be gone by then.
Q1 Pro had broken online update at first also... you would have thought they would have learned from that mistake. Same with PLR. If they were issues on the last model, you gotta make sure they are good to go day one on the next.
@LEMONIZE no not on the p4, i do have it on the Q1 Pro occasionally and deleting all print files and print cache fixes things back to normal for the next xx amount of prints.
I don't under stand why people would be mad about this printer. It's exactly what they wanted from bambu, a P1S with a touch screen and larger print volume. It's got auto z, which is what I've been waiting for, multi material coming next year and a chamber heater to boot. Once the qidi box or whatever it's called drops bambu is going to have issues if they haven't released a large printer by then. I think your being a little harsh on the need for this printer to be 100% perfect out the box. Products that cost way more will suck on there first production runs. Also unfortunately the loose print head bearings isn't a new thing. My X plus 3 had the same issue and Qidi has a fix document that has you do the exact same thing that you did. I will be getting the plus 4 but I'll wait a few months to let the firmware mature.
Qidi Plus 4 seems better. It has a chamber heater and it's a smaller build volume, which is quicker to heat up. SV08 is based on the Voron 2.4 which has a really complicated flying gantry design, the Qidi Plus 4 is a simpler design and less to go wrong. It also appears to have fewer launch problems than the SV08, but there just hasn't been enough time to know the long term reliability of either machine to be honest.
@spooknik-z3t i agree! I wished to have it a lot sooner before launch but look around. Apparently there are reviewers with almost a month on it instead of a week like me.
With the SV08 you could follow along and do the multi-head/tool changer mod that Teaching Tech is currently working on. Sounds like he's going to do a complete guide once the process is done and it looks very promising. The goal is a Prusa XL at a fraction of the cost and so far the total cost is like 1/3 that of the Prusa with very little left to spend on.
@@atvking535 Yes i'm aware of this project! It's very cool and I can't wait to see the end product. But it's going to be an uphill battle to get it anywhere as usable as the Prusa XL., There's a lot of missing pieces to that design, it's not as simple as just duplicating the toolhead 4 times. The secret is in the docking, undocking, and pruging and how that's handled. The XL has a lot more hardware onboard to make sure the docking is working correctly. Like a hall effect sensor on each toolhead and dock.
Just curious if the top and door need to be open when printing materials like PLA, PETG or TPU. Or could the carbon filter extracting fan be used to mitigate the heat from building inside? BTW loved the fan boy rant 🙂
@@NoizieWorks excellent! I have an X-PLUS 3 and the thing is a work horse. I put risers on the lid and the chamber gets to up 38C when printing and overhangs are fine (I might be able to do the same with the PLUS 4). I'm looking forward to the colour option coming in 2025, if it handles more than four colours, I'll get one for sure.
@@NoizieWorks you bet. I've got a PRUSA MK3S/MMU2S with over 8,000hrs on it and it's finally starting to show signs of getting tired so I'm looking at options. I did have an X1C/AMS for a short period of time but I think I got the one that was made at 5pm on a Friday. Or maybe after an office party...and as a retired developer I couldn't get comfortable with the closed source. Thus, rest assured, I'm subscribed!
I was thinking about getting a Bambu p1s but I can’t stop thinking about the Qidi plus 4. It has so much going for it compared to the P1s. Hopefully the ams for this machine would be good. I want to get this to replace my Neptune 2s
I easily choose update as a first thing over 200 EUR more cost. The bearing is another story. If other harder to reach parts could be messed up like that, that is a real issue.
The only issue I have is buying any item when it is first released as all items will have issues. Long ago I bought my first 3d printer based on 6-1 year review of how the printer works. That printer being the X-Plus (version 1.0) which is working perfectly to this day. So yes, I will give this printer 6 months before buying. Again the only issue here is that the market is changing day by day and is why I haven't upgraded yet. (I really want an updated X-Max) At the end, I want you do find anything and everything that is wrong about this printer. This is the only way we get good printers.
I have seen a few people say they're experiencing heat creep clogs when printing PLA or PETG, is this something you've experienced at all? This looks like a great machine but i am a bit concerned by that
I do like this printer. And considering getting one. And I have quite a few printers and having the wheels on the bed is a great option. So many people added manual wheels and springs under their print beds. So you can't please everyone I guess. And there is nothing worse than fanboys. It's OK to like a company but getting upset because someone likes something else or has a different opinion is crazy. I have 4 printers from 3 different companies. They all have their good and bad.
Hi, just received my 4+ Following the video I upgrade the firmware to the latest 1.6.0. For the moment writing data sedms ok. In you video you says after upgrade "i done the necessary calibration" Can you discribe or may be you already have a video on this , the step you follow for this after upgrade calibration. And thank for the video Bob
@robertclaude5961 hi Robert, you have to do the inputshaper calibration, platform calibration to finish with a complete bed mesh calibration. These are all on the same page, I believe it's under tools.
I am really considering upgrading to a Q1- i see the people in the comments -"qidi's customer service has been GREAT and so helpful getting my new printer running" Im like... uh. Why TF did you have to EVEN call customer support for a brand new printer😅 i dont wanna but its going to scare me away from saving some money with a Q1 into buying an x1 carbon instead😂
At 7min in you talk about he firmware update. One thing i do normally is check if anything i plugin has a firmware update. Even my HUE light get updates. One problem i see is that i check the MFG for updates. At this time The Plus4 does not show an update, so that's a problem,
Ordered one 3 days ag. I was a big Prusa fan, and after the disapointing MK4 and the ok but too expensive XL, I'm ready to jump on the chinese printer bandwagon.
@@TheGabb3r i would love to see more EU printers featured so that's why i got a ratrig but i would love the XL... pricing feels a bit like an issue right now for the XL so i hope they "update" the mk4 to 2025
Yeah, The factory i worked at bought the MK4 because brand loyalty. I always joked I could print circles around it with my less expensive Xmax3 both literally and in speed 🤣
@@NoizieWorks Have a look at the ProForge 300 (was a 250) it’s UK based and I’ve been impressed with it, not bought one yet, but seen the 250 at a trade show, and it’s been improved since then. I have had a X1C Combo close on 2 years now, and using Orca slicer have seen constant improvements, bought add ins for it, and I hope they bring a bigger one out too, but I’ll pass on this and the Qidi, as a toolchanger is my next must have.
I buy mine for 760€ and then Bambulab carbon was 50% more expensive, which I can not afford. This is not perfect but good enough for me, great upgrade from Creality 5.
are you saying filament cutter or color??? my printer jammed up on the first print...so far NO HAPPY with this printer!!! have to wait now for another extruder...and the slicer is no where near and friendly as Bambu....
@Nightmarehc130 cutter, i used then pressed the change filament. I retracts the filament gumming it up in the gears. Comparing to their previous slicer it's almost a copy paste from orca.
I have contacted an atty who specializes in litigating Chinese companies. I filed a complaint with the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission last night regarding this problem. A screenshot of the report can be found on the Qidi subreddit. I am demanding that Qidi initiate a recall on all Plus 4 models that are wired for 110vac.
Qidi printers r way better than other printers especially bambu because they lack one important feature which is a heater, some people feel like they did something when they bought a bamboo and they can actually print by pushing a button on an app and then sell overpriced plastic to unknowing customers.......... Someone really needs to make a multi material system that's compatible with multiple types of printers or just klipper I know it has to be possible, and yes I know there's other ones out there that are not that expensive and takes a while to print the parts and calibrate
@@NoizieWorks oh yeah of course, I always recommend a Q1 Pro to anyone as long as they don't need multicolor or multi-material printing, The Q1 Pro is best bang for your buck on the market today.
Outstanding update. The fanboys drinking the Kool-Aid are clowns and not worth the time. I followed many 3d printer content creators until it became clear they sold their soul to the devil and were just shills for the man. Delete. Your honesty is needed in this industry for those that are willing to listen. I made the jump from Prusa MK3 to X-Plus 3 and have never regretted it. Keep up the great work.
@SuperSolo67 still need to do more testing and give it more time but so far👌 about the other content creators 🤷♂️ to bad but we do have quite a few i trust on the topic.
being harsh when making reviews will only make the product better. if i wanted to see an infomercial on how great a product is, i would go to the manufacture website
As an early model beta tester, it is 100% expected to have issues.....Since the printer you received was pre-market, that makes you one of the beta testers. I think its good to know that the update, which will be on every new printer shipping I would assume, addresses those beta issues.
While owning a Bambu Lab X1C I love the fact that more and more brands now come out with great comparable printers, that may even have even more or better features. This will definitely add to the innovation and competition between the different brands. So Win Win for us all. :) Bambu need to present something new soon to keep up. :) If I had space enough at home, this Qidi Plus 4 could be pretty attractive.
What rock have you been living under if you just now heard of "Fanboys"? LOL. Anyway, I think comparing ANYTHING to Bambu is unfair. To both. In this way. Bambu brought a printer to the market that had previously been unseen. With features that NO ONE was offering. So for other brands to start offering those features without some growing pains is a big ask. Also, who said anyone has caught up with bambu? Everyone else is only where bambu was 2 years ago. We don't even know where bambu is TODAY. What previously unseen features are they working on? What might we see next? I love Qidi stuff. I love it even more now that they have brought a bigger "Bambu" to the market for $800! I love Bambu stuff because its innovative. Now, I wish a company would leap frog bambu and show us something new. But instead they are staying 2 years behind them. They have NOT caught up.
Some mates I have allegedly have said Bambu has some people in the community testing out the X2 currently, but there's no word on the P2, or when the X2 will even be out though, since testing has been more recently.
Qidi has been leading the consumer market in many ways as well. For example they are the only one with a chamber heater at hobby prices. In the end competition is good for everyone.
Wait your turn, we are still waiting for them to fix the X-Plus 3 problems, they have released 2 new printers and still we have problems with the previous flagships...
@@riverracer i can only talk about the 2 i tested and how the company has been since then. Didn't they release a few updates to fix that thing? Sos printing(probably wrong name) confirmed that they solved it eventually.
Yes, you should always update your printer when you get it - essentially all hardware will benefit from new drivers/firmware - BUT you shouldn't have to do it to have a functional product! It should work as designed out of the box except for edge cases. That's a sign of a rushed product, and rushed products are a sign of a poorly managed company.
Hey Creality isn't so bad. I think their new stuff is quite good. No no before you call me a fan boy. I have 3 printers, lulzbot Taz workhorse, k1 max, anycubic kobra 3 combo. Ender series gave Creality a bad name, but I think the time has passed for Creality to be a bud of all jokes.
I never said creality is bad, i only say they have almost always a massive qc issue on launch versions of new printers. The K1 series didn't prove me wrong with the extruder wheels bending leaving you with a paperweight for 3+ months. After that, the K1 was an enjoyable experience. The K1 max didn't come with that issue because they already fixed it before shipping the first batch. I do look forward to the K2, i hope they have a smooth launch this time being the first real ams competitor to bambu.
I have no problem waiting till’ 2025 Q1 for the QidiBox, i’m sure we’ll have a lower price if you get a combo, and perhaps some sales or discount codes once we get there. That way i’ll also avoid the early growing pains.
@eaman11 it could possibly be underextruding on 260c and 300mm/s. I usually run 275 on those speeds but more testing needs to be done for the final review and that's going to take time so wait it out, nothing wrong with that.
@@NoizieWorks Man you gotta do the Simple Z banding/wobble test tower , and film it with a light on top mooving the camera. That ghost look suspicious.
Ok brother hear me out, have been looking into it new print some slicer tweaks same issue. I now found out that the bed is still "bed meshing" past layer 230... so it's self induced z-wobble as the bed is constantly moving. I'm going to bring it up to qidi cause it looks like they forgot to turn on bed mesh fade... 🙈
dude the first thing you do is update the firmware... like with literally everything, PC gets a Bios update and you download the newest drivers, my robot vacuum got its firmware update first before doing anything else... i really think you should reconsider your stance on this topic. do you expect the company to keep 10k+ machines sitting in some warehouse on the newest firmware? the unglued bearing is 100% a QC Problem and if you as a reviever got such a machine i 100% agree that some other consumer will get the same issue and it is a valid point to point out. no mater how much they tell you that "you're the only one" It just felt like you were a little rushed in that review because you had to leave the country in less than 12 hours and still had to shoot and edit the video. otherwise a good review.
@ethirion3534 I agree, i also do but shipping it in a way that even auto update doesn't work 🤷♂️ most systems prompt you as soon as you connect to wifi so that's what i would like to see in the future. Even the creality K series work that way. It's rushed for sure and i do apologize a bit. Didn't anticipate a shit show lol but that's ok it's a first look and not a review like i stated in the beginning of that video. I'm aware that i occasionally say review/reviewing but in the grand scheme i am 🙂 thanks for the comment!
@@NoizieWorks I must have missed the part about the auto update. Sorry for that! In that case you are full on in the right to point it out as a fault and i take back my criticism. I hope you don't let yourself be put down because of fanboys or unfounded criticism and keep your open mind as you have shown me in your response.
I don't see updating it as a problem. Everything else you own the first thing you have to do is update it. Your new cell phone, computer, even my new truck, so I don't see why this would be any different. It took less then 5 minutes to download and plug the USB into the printer and you're acting like you just lost half of a year of your life. How much more professional can they get buy fixing all of the problems in a few days.
I think you missed the point slightly, it's a matter of broken features on new products that get shipped like this. Even ota upates not working in 2024 is shameful but thanks for your take.
The XP4 has more chamber insulation than any filament drying system on the market and can do multiple spools. Once at temperature its more efficient. Also an excellent use of idle machines in a print shop with no additional hardware or space. I planned to add insulation to my XM3 for this purpose, but qidi heard us and implemented it in X4 series.
@@Jerrie-Lenore Come on man: that is a 3d printer! Do you see all the stuff inside that has to be heated? No waaaaaay that it's more efficient than a small filament dryer!
@@eaman11 good point! Like Project Farm says... "We're going to test that!" I too would like to know. Especially as I'm considering the polymaker poly dry system.
in relation to nylon-PVB-PETG_TPU ... no i don't say it can't get wet and it will but they don't want you to use the printer chamber because of the low melting point.
@@NoizieWorks Thank you for that explanation. I have not ordered the Qidi Plus 4, at least not yet. I have an X-Max 3 and an X-Smart 3, which are my main printers. They have both been serving me well. I am impressed with the Qidi printers because they are more focused on making printers that can print high-strength materials to make strong, functional parts. As great as the Plus 4 sounds, I am not sure if it is enough of an advancement over my X-Max 3 to make it worthwhile for me at this time. I have hopes that Qidi will make an 'Max 4' with a bigger build volume than the Plus 4 but with the same functionality. What I would like even more would be for Qidi to update their iFast dual-extruder printer (which also has a heated chamber) with a larger build volume and high-speed kinematics, but I think that is only a dream right now...
@William3DP xmax4 🤌🤌 idex will be the next best (affordable) thing. Ratrig is also looking like a nice idex setup so far. I'm building a unit and probably upgrade it later to idex.

@NoizieWorks I got a review sample too and have exactly the same issue with rattling extruder / loose bearings
@Flying--T That makes it more than 1 already 😆 did you fix it by putting in 2 screws?
Making vid about it asap
@@NoizieWorks I have not fixed it yet, but was curious if anyone else had the same issue. Google brought me here :D
Oh no 😆 well they thought about it and it's easily fixed yet a bit bodged.
Told them reconsider the way they do it now. Creality uses a spring clamping mechanism.

The fan boy talk made me instantly subscribe.
100% agreed.
I wonder if these Bambu fanboys know about the recall back in June? 😅😅😅😅
I posted a screenshot of that recall on Reddit last night. 😉
Thanks for showing the machine in motion. This is the only channel that actually shows the real world sounds of this machine.
Thanks for the update.
Looking at my first printer since 2018 and this makes the Bambu look like its worth the extra cash.
Leveling knobs is a great thing. I added them to my K1 max and got my bed leveled dead flat on all 4 corners and only have a deviation of .14mm. Its well worth the effort to use the knobs to level.
@gemrough trying to trust to much on bed mesh is never good
I'm not really sure how anyone could complain about it. You need to tram the bed on any consumer level printer. At this price point, it sure as well won't be done by motors.
The variance of the bed, z screws and any mounting used between the two needs to be accounted for.
me as a machinist, dead flat and 0.14mm doesnt go in one sentence 😂
@@ipadize so sorry for that 😆

great update!
I'm a Prusa user (not a Fanboy, but a fan of) and have MK4s along with the Creality K1Max. Nice to see another competitor other than Bambu doing more at this build volume.
It's ok to love a brand, just don't be an Ahole about it.
Thanks brother ✌️
@@NoizieWorks That is why I decided to try the K1Max. I wanted the open source of Prusa with the enclosure and reasonable CoreXY of Bambu. Honestly I think the Bambu would have been a better out of the box experience. There are tons of quality issues with the Creality and the software has no preset profiles for any nozzles other than 0.4. But for the price…you get what you pay for.
Glad to see Qidi higher up on the list of viable alternatives.
Next is how open is the system to modding…?
@ATLnJP can't be more open then klipper imo. If you know your way in the config it's everything you want.

Great content, looking forward the arrival, placed order yesterday 😀
I'm still unable to use my Peopoly Magneto X. The Qidi Plus4 in that good of condition out of the gate, and a firmware fix that fast, that makes it viable for me.
Thanks for taking the time to give a critical review.
Ordered one, just waiting for it to arrive!
@Muffins-lx8xd woohoo make room it's a big boy
I do love that you point out the stupid brand loyal comments that provide no value, but stroke the ego of those that made the comment.....
I have noticed that the space efficiency and location of features were much better thought out in my Plus4 than my Max3.
That little inspection port on the hotend/extruder connection is really a nice feature. When I clogged it using PETG-CF in the factory 0.4mm nozzle, it was ridiculously easy to be back up and running.
Right?!
I cant see replacing my XM3, but adding a 4 series is definitely in the future!
@@802Garage thanks for the comment! Good take
Great perspective, mine as well. Idk of any manufacturer that hasn't had some type of QA issue with a release. Just watched the first video last night and now with this I'm even more confident on choosing this as my new printer!

Thank you for the update. Great job.
Really excellent indepth review. Looks like a great machine.
They both have a place in the market for sure
The process was exactly the same for mine! Great job!
Thanks for the rapid update.
Be sure to rest up you appear to have been non stop.
I think I'm going to buy one of these and pack in my kobra 2 max.
The sacrifice in build volume seems worth it to me.
@freedomofmotion thanks brother!
@johnbeardon4475 thanks for the news.... this sucks
@@NoizieWorks That's bloody unacceptable if you ask me.

Nice brother!
Great video, I already have a A1 and have been considering a P1 or X1C, this looks more promising 👍🏼
fingers crossed for a Black Friday sale! i LOVE my Q1 Pro, and if it goes down to $700 i'll scoop one up right away...oh who am i kidding, i'll spend the $800 too.
EBPMAN Tech Reviews just dropped his review and had a lot of praise for the print quality.
I received my Plus 4 a couple of days ago. (Purchased because my 10yo Folgertech FT-5 is suffering from an odd skew problem which skew correction did not correct. All in all, I find the build quality to be pretty top notch and I shall see about the printing in the coming days.
@@kimnach hope you have a great time!
I see your point about transparency about the out of box experience - but it may also be worth considering that most people searching for info will probably find that review video and not necessarily the followup. Given that, if something simple like an update dramatically changes the quality, I’d lean towards including it in the first video.
@@drtbantha fair! Will be including it next time

Makes me think about your chapter "Should you avoid first batch products.."
Ho hum.
@pauly-v-sixnine Unfortunately with qidi products, it seems to be a wait out the first batch type of deal. Especially if the parts are not critical.
Have you removed the cover to go over all the wires?
Sounds like the probe isn't working right now so i would start looking there.
bless you buddy
@SylvainDuford Fair!
@NoizieWorks Some reports that the bed blocks the heater intake at 250mm, triggering a klipper crash
Already tested and confirmed that it's an issue. Will make an update as soon as i have the time.
What are your thought comparing QIDI Plus 4's print quality to X1C or P1S?
Hey, great review and appreiciate your real world usage and process. Do you think you can confirm the 305x305 build area...perhaps combine that with just a first layer test? this will show how good it is, and confirm a large square object on the plate (I have a need to print and object need every millimeter. As for first layer, I like that it has all the software and auto levelling AND that it also has manual knobs should something wierd happens...sometimes manual stuff is just cool. - subscribed 😀
@vivianmorresey thanks dude, making new vid today an will try it
Really tempted to get this printer. Do you think it's good to wait to work out some more bugs like you had on the lower bearing?
@@willofthemaker yes, It's always better
I just had mine delivered. First thing I always do with anything..... update it!
Does is use vanilla Klipper or modified like the Q1?
It's dirty so no fluidd updates
I did post in the Facebook group and someone suggested looking on the bottom of the printer to make sure it was on my voltage requirement. And that was the problem. It was on 230 and I needed 115.
@brendacox6116 Great to hear Brenda! First print under the belt?
@@NoizieWorks thank you.
Another reviewer said their printer would occasionally freeze and had to be restarted each time it happened. Does this also happen with yours?
As of right now would you rather recommend the K1 Max or the Qidi?
They cost exactly the same.
Multicolor is not a necessity for me.
Qidi for sure if you are looking into print with hight temp cf gf filaments
Definitely Qidi. The K1 series in general has some fundamental flaws with stiffness and the extruder design.
Sovol sv08 with enclosure or qidi plus 4? Especially for ABS and other high temp materials
@@atvking535 sounds great
@@atvking535 Yes i'm aware of this project!
@wabbitguy in my experience everything could stay closed but overhangs could be performing weaker
If i have to guess i'm probably going to get a sample so stay tuned! It will be my first mmu ever so pretty exited

I'd likely have committed to a printer system this year if it wasn't for the USD300 to USD400 shipping charge (ex-CN) for most vendors.
I easily choose update as a first thing over 200 EUR more cost. The bearing is another story. If other harder to reach parts could be messed up like that, that is a real issue.
What do you mean? What has more cost?
@@saturnmedia1 I'm referring to what he said around 7:40
@@csupakabra4 ah okay. Compared to buying a bambu?
The only issue I have is buying any item when it is first released as all items will have issues. Long ago I bought my first 3d printer based on 6-1 year review of how the printer works. That printer being the X-Plus (version 1.0) which is working perfectly to this day. So yes, I will give this printer 6 months before buying. Again the only issue here is that the market is changing day by day and is why I haven't upgraded yet. (I really want an updated X-Max) At the end, I want you do find anything and everything that is wrong about this printer. This is the only way we get good printers.
@OZtwo i want the xmax4! Yeah the market is buzzing right now.
I have seen a few people say they're experiencing heat creep clogs when printing PLA or PETG, is this something you've experienced at all? This looks like a great machine but i am a bit concerned by that
@coledavidson5630 not at all, maybe the thermal paste wasn't applied enough or so but i can even keep everything closed.
@Andre_M_3D YES! It's about the community enjoying a hobby. 400$ machine or 20k it's all the same imo.

Following the video I upgrade the firmware to the latest 1.6.0.
For the moment writing data sedms ok.
In you video you says after upgrade "i done the necessary calibration"
Can you discribe or may be you already have a video on this , the step you follow for this after upgrade calibration.
And thank for the video

Q1 pro has been ironed out, the plus 4 on the other hand... btw bambu has the same problems, just doesn't get that much attention.
At 7min in you talk about he firmware update. One thing i do normally is check if anything i plugin has a firmware update. Even my HUE light get updates. One problem i see is that i check the MFG for updates. At this time The Plus4 does not show an update, so that's a problem,

@helixxharpell I'm saying the same thing tomorrow. The stubbornness is real with Qidi.

At the moment i think it is a bit expensive at £699 because the Bambu lab P1S with AMS is now same price.
@@vintagespeedshop bigger builvolume and integrated buildchamber heater don't come for free.
Qidi printers r way better than other printers especially bambu because they lack one important feature which is a heater, some people feel like they did something when they bought a bamboo and they can actually print by pushing a button on an app and then sell overpriced plastic to unknowing customers.......... Someone really needs to make a multi material system that's compatible with multiple types of printers or just klipper I know it has to be possible, and yes I know there's other ones out there that are not that expensive and takes a while to print the parts and calibrate

being harsh when making reviews will only make the product better. if i wanted to see an infomercial on how great a product is, i would go to the manufacture website
As an early model beta tester, it is 100% expected to have issues.....Since the printer you received was pre-market, that makes you one of the beta testers.
I think its good to know that the update, which will be on every new printer shipping I would assume, addresses those beta issues.
Glad to hear the foam fixed your bearing issue....hopefully mine doesn't suffer from that issue, but at least the fix is easy.

@johnstarkey2625 thanks for your take! Never encountered 3d printing fanboys like this for sure.
@keiz_ as I suspect, hope they finally make it bigger. Will sell like crazy
I was going to buy plus 4 but after watching another video with lots of problems im going to wait.

OMG you are gonna waste so much electricity if you heat up that whole thing for hours just to dry a roll of filament!
Please don't do that.
@eaman11 once it's hot the power consumption drops but you gave me an idea for the review!

As great as the Plus 4 sounds, I am not sure if it is enough of an advancement over my X-Max 3 to make it worthwhile for me at this time. I have hopes that Qidi will make an 'Max 4' with a bigger build volume than the Plus 4 but with the same functionality.
