I have had a very similar experience with the green welders.Lack of ignition, gas solenoid sticking, display quit, amperage adjust not working and other problems as well.I replaced the gas solenoid with the one they sent me and it is sticking again.
They also told me to try to repair it myself and told me that it was,and I quote,"the cost of ownership". The moment I heard that, neverlast was dead to me. I bought 2 of their machines ,250 EX and the 255 EXT. I am done. I will get the Primeweld 325 now.

I think Everlast has the replacement sitting there ready to ship but they are waiting for the DOA one to show up. This is not the first time I've heard of Primeweld stepping up. And when their customers have problems they respond quickly as well. I've bounced between Green and Black on a Plasma cutter but this tips the scales over to Black for sure.

I had an issue with one of my Miller welders many years ago, fixed it myself and told them about it in a nice letter so they could highlight the issue with their quality folks. They sent me back a nice letter thanking me for my inputs and a box that contained ever accessary that they made for that machine.....that machine is still welding like the day I first plugged it in.

I have the everlast mts211si, had issues with the gas valves opening at the same time. Welp sent it to the mainland (I live in Hawaii, shipping was 500.00 round trip) and it came back worse than I sent it. Worked with Matt at everlast and he helped me get it running again. Gas still comes through both mig & tig gas vales. Impressive I'm going to use this machine as a fluxcore welder and get the prime weld 325x to tig with.

Just an off the cuff thought on the machines... The everlast has a nicer control board and a few more features, The Case and Accessories for the Primeweld are better made. I don't need the bells and whistles that the Everlast has for settings as I have gotten by for 25 years with just two knobs....... We will see which welds better...
And so far Primeweld services for my plasma has been much better.

One thing about China products is you can go directly to them and have them change labels and redesign and start your own company BUT still have to order a lot of them to get prices down enough, Everlast has been dealing with them for years so they order a truckload and have low prices.

Clearly, Everlast should be avoided. Project Farm released a video testing many cheap MIG/Multi Process units and Everlast wasn’t even one of those tested. I watched because you had just published the first video unboxing and testing that hunk of junk. That says a lot right there, he didn’t even consider it. Selected testing units were well within the price point of that you paid for that pile of junk. For sure, stay away from EverCrap.

So the part of this I find annoying is the Everlast was brand new. A customer should NEVER have to diagnose a brand new machine regardless of brand. Support should be smart enough run you thru basic troubleshooting to know if the machine works with a few minutes. At that point they know you have a DOA and you should have a new machine in route within 24 hours. We can be certain that someone that watches your channel tipped off Prime Weld and initiated your new welder. Time will tell but from what I've heard from customers that PrimeWeld is going to spank that Everlast in a side by side.

Marketing opportunity to get in front of eyeballs on youtube. The kindness of their heart and representative of their service as a whole? Not a chance, unless you still believe in the tooth fairy of course, just really cheap and cynical advertising. The interaction at 0:35 tells me all I need to know about what Everlast are dealing with.

Oh that it was... The replacement everlast arrived yesterday, had about three hours of talks with the president and owner of everlast about problems. Learned a lot and hopefully this exchange of information and problems will lead to some changes there. More coming on that....

Everlast is too much. Shipping label simply means that they’ve notified UPS of the shipment and where it’s going, but that UPS hasn’t received the package yet. With the possible problems a company may have with credit cards with customers denying payment, it’s a miniscule number. Most reliable companies will accept a credit card and send out a replacement without charging you unless the old one doesn’t come back within some reasonable time. Normally, you get 10 to 15 days to return product or get a replacement if it didn’t work, no questions asked. Everlast always seems to require customers to do testing they shouldn’t be doing (No user serviceable parts inside).
Everlast and Primeweld have been fighting for space in the second tier for welders and plasma cutters. There have been a couple of others, but they seem to have fallen away. The Primeweld has 10 gauge because it’s a plasma cutter too. You don’t need that for these size welders. Plasma cutters have high voltage out, usually 100 volts or higher, so if this is a 30 amp plasma cutter too, it needs 10 gauge.

    • @10swatkins
      @10swatkins  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

This one is not a plasma cutter also... Just Lift tig, stick and mig....

@@10swatkins I thought I heard you say that. Maybe not. Then the 10 gauge cord is overkill.

      Melgross,
you must remember this is an inverter machine which takes the 110 v or 220 v AC mains and converts to high voltage DC [above 8,000 volts] and then changes this current to low voltage , high amperage......which is suitable for welding or plasma cutting, [plasma cutting is an off shoot of plasma welding which is an off shoot of TIG [GTAW} ......which is a Constant Current process, Like Stick [SMAW or MMA]......the 100 volts of a plasma cutter is open circuit volts.......not the operating voltage. I hope this helps, Paul.

@@ypaulbrown "and converts to high voltage DC [above 8,000 volts]" - haha, I don't think so. Tell me you nothing about how inverters work without telling me you know nothing about how inverters work. The AC is rectified to DC, the most you're going to get is sqrt(2) times the RMS AC voltage, so 220 * (sqrt(2)) = 311V DC. If they're using an active power factor correction rectifier instead of a passive rectifier (essentially a boost converter that compensates for the AC input voltage changing continuously), the DC voltage may be a bit higher, but probably no higher than 600V. Running the DC bus at 8000V would be insane - now you need 8kv caps, and 8kv IGBTs on the other side to do anything with it. Actually it doesn't even make sense in a welder to convert to a higher voltage dc bus in the first place - welding goes probably not a lot higher than 48V - just convert to a 60V or so DC bus directly from the AC using a buck converter, and you've saved extra steps on the secondary side!

High output machine, needs 10 awg, 6mm, banana to metric conversion.
This old Tony did a review on YT the other day, 5 in one welder, does aluminium as well.
Very nice and made in Italy, not China.
