    I've got the Traxx myself. I got them on pre-order for $200. I bolted them on and took a few pics, but that's all I've done with them yet. I run Alientac wheels with Proline Flat Irons typically. I got the tracks for strict applications such as sand, mud, and snow. Otherwise I run the tires. The right tires and foams can get you over terrain the tracks can't. I tire can conform to the surface (with the right foams) where as tracks really can't as well. The tracks are mostly for very soft or slippery conditions while not so much for dry or rocky conditions. I heard that Traxxas will be making different treads for the Traxx, not sure when or what they might look like. If I were to assume, a more aggressive tread will be the first to come out.

    • @scalefreakgaming
      @scalefreakgaming  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Traxx were actually pretty good on the rocks. As long as you can get an edge of the Traxx to the rock, it would go. And some of the rock fields, it went over like a hovercraft in a flat field. Sucked some of the fun out of it.
      And for mud, it was like wearing snow shoes. Just skimmed over.

    There is a reason (other than weight) the A1 Abrams tank only goes as fast as it does. And did you ever see what a snowmobile(snow-machine) engine can do powering a lightweight wheeled vehicle? The Traxxas 'Traxx' super-power is that it 'Fascinates'. Just like we love to watch our crawler's tires 'ripple' from rocks and torque applications and our suspensions articulate to their extremes over obstacles we are "fascinated" with watching the mechanics/dynamics of caterpillar tracks. Unless the conditions demand such a large contact patch as given with 'tracks' they often are far more problematic than wheels.

    • @scalefreakgaming
      @scalefreakgaming  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a really good way to say it. Went to Skycraft yesterday to look at the TRX-4 Sport with the Traxxx. We spent some time just being amused by how the tracks drive over everything,

  • @sanrasuzumaki942
    @sanrasuzumaki942 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Tracks give you more surface contact so you get more traction but also more resistance therefore consume more electricity out of those batteries, not ideal for that terrain but really cool looking.

    I just bought a TRX-4 that came with the Traxx (my very first crawler) and they work wonders in the snow. I can see how it would be a concern for heat when it's a bit warmer out and, like you said, it doesn't steer for crap with the Traxx on. I did buy the 400Oz servo and the BEC kit to try to help out, but I think the Traxx are just going to be a winter accessory for me. I'm excited for spring and summer to come so I can get out on the trails and put it to good use.

  • @streetsweaper5618
    @streetsweaper5618 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just got the blazer about a week ago hit the trail once but you can really tell the stock servo is too weak , you’d think they’d put the high torq servo they have in from factory for a $500 truck my axials came with better servos out of box and they cost less granted you don’t get the cool accessories like the trans diffs etc but for traxxas to cheap out on a main part of the truck is disappointing

    • @scalefreakgaming
      @scalefreakgaming  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it 100% does need a servo. And yes, I think it would have been nice to have it in the truck. But, at the same time, I do like a lot of the other stuff that’s on that truck that might have had to have been sacrificed to spend on the servo. Plus, I have a few other servo’s.

    I don't know if you reply to comments on your older vids, but I'm hoping, yes. I just recently purchased this rc with the deep terrain traxxas installed. It comes with tires as well. It also comes with some of the other upgrades that the trx4 doesn't have on the original rtr. The downside, and excuse me for the possible lack of terminology, because I'm just getting back into the rc hobby, is that the rtr with the traxxs already applied only has a (one speed transmission)?? Not the one that comes with the original rtr. So I'm not sure about the cost of the trade-off. I'll probably just buy one of the original rtr's tomorrow just for this reason. Lol, but most likely.
    I've seen comments before about the weak steering on other channels yet wasn't sure if they were talking about with tires or trax. But straight out of the box.... definitely noticable with the Traxxs installed version. Don't get me wrong. I love the truck and not trying to be negative. I'm just agreeing.
    So. To improve this I purchased the Traxxas recommended parts. The Traxxas (ebc)? Lol and the Traxxas 2255 servo. I'd respect your opinion on this servo if you've dealt with it.
    Now if you'll excuse me.. I think I forgot to Like and Subscribe and will take a moment to do so. This was a good family vid.

    • @scalefreakgaming
      @scalefreakgaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course I still respond.
      So...the Traxxas steering servo leaves a little to be desired. I’m going to be switching mine out for something new once this one breaks. It’s just...too weak, and I have some other good ones in the stash.
      I would actually prefer the single speed transmission over the two speed that came with the original ones. The second speed is faster, And I don’t want that. I always want slower.
      The original trucks also came with the selectable locking diffs. Yes, that’s neat. But...meh...not needed. If you don’t have the two-speed trans or the selectable diffs, don’t bother.
      With the tracks vs tires. I’m going to stay on tires.

    It says they are pre tensioned from factory spec but seems really tight so considering there's four tracks it's no surprise the battery ran flat quick.
    I've now since slackened the tracks off a little with the adjuster and now have a much less rolling resistance and longer battery again.
    I bet he never checked the tension before installation.
    Ps it does state not to use in high gear via the red switch so your bad.

      @@scalefreakgaming I know that’s why I wait every time I like a Traxxas product and a cool accessory so I don’t put 500 in to a truck I could have got w that 500

      Waiting is a bad idea for when I was doing reviews on new products :).
      Which is also why I stopped doing reviews. I have spent A LOT of money on needless stuff just to get a video out.

    First off the tracks are only supposed to be used of mud sand and snow not rocks

    to be honest. traxx are great but force the motor to the point is going to be replace, the traxx need more power from the motor. they do the job but even is the performance much better the wheels i preffer the wheels, less stress to motor

    so even though the tracks float over things quite easily, it looses to tires... gee whodathunkit. I mean, if tracks were so good they would be on cars and trucks and not just on bulldozers and bobcats, etc.

    They very good at trails, hills and lose dirt/leaves but as for rocks they’re a joke and just pop off constantly

      That’s not what sells, my dude.
      I have been in and out of this hobby for 34 years, and it’s the same thing now as it was back then. Just new companies, new logo’s, and updated branding.
      These tracks were fun to use for the day, but I never used them again after this. I much prefer tires for all my kits. And while there are different tires and foams that can improve the traction or handling, it all makes it easier to do what I’m looking to do, and effectively removes a challenge.
      Years and years of testing just helped me learn how to build trucks that were so easy to drive, it took some of the fun away, and now I don’t drive them at all any more.
      I’m short, use what makes you happy. And have the best time possible with the people that are important to you.
