💞Thanks for watching!! We are happy to have you along with us, discovering the Roads of America and learning about trucking!!🚚🚚🚚
Hallo! I am so glad you got the T680. I was one of the test drivers who tested all the truck systems on this Kenny, and I loved them all. But, there was one issue... One day, while driving in cruise control mode, speed at approximately 65 mph, pulling 80k on a flat bed, I approached an intersection with several overhead bridges. The bridges cast dark, sharp shadows onto the road. Just about 20 feet away from the shadows the truck suddenly slammed on the brakes! Apparently the anti-collision system misinterpreted the dark shadows on the highway and applied the brakes! The incident was reported and I'm sure they corrected the issue.
Just a heads up for awareness.
Be safe.
Be blest!
No one really has described the digital dash like you have. Enjoy your ride.
👍👍👍
Freightliner likely had a little more storage, but it’s my opinion the new T680 provides a better driver experience overall. After 11-12 hours in the drivers seat you don’t feel beat up yourself. It’s very comfortable. Also, Crete might not have spec’d all the high end options but getting the LED headlights is a huge upgrade for driver safety and visibility. I’m told that alone is about $4000 upgrade for the LED headlights over the standard halogen lights. VERY nice truck , very comfortable for the two of you. The Kenworth stereo with subwoofer is also a very nice upgrade for those that love their music.
ehhh if u say so😂 them t680s look better on tha outside than how it feels inside
@@412hwc Depends on the driver really, I've driven all 4 of the main tractors (KWT680, Peterbilt579, Freightliner, and International LT) and I prefer the Freghtliner, it has good turn radius compared to the KW or Pete, might not be as luxurious but its still comfy to me. I definitely prefer the drivers seat and position in the Freightliner.
comes down to how that freightliner is spec'd. 99% will have detroit axles requiring the airliner suspension be paired with it from the factory. That airliner suspension is absolute garbage. Better to have meritor axles and pair it with a third party suspension. Also, no truck manufacturer makes a good seat.
@@rocksjoshuak
Kenworth looks better on the outside, but the interior of the freightliner is better for living imo.
I (Tanja) agree. More storage and better lighting. We used to have a table in the old KW that we don’t have in this one. That was nice. But Kevin doesn’t miss hitting his head on that Freightliner ladder. 🤦♀️😆😆😆
I’m getting KW this weekend. I am so excited!! Thank you for showing me your Kw so I know what it life when I moving from Freightliner to KW. I’m getting 2023 T680.
It would blow your mind if you ever drove a pre 2000 truck. So much better thought out and power to pass anyone on the road if you need to
👍👍👍🤩🏆
that's what I'm currently driving.
I miss the swing table
Yes! We thought it would have one. Oops…
And that’s how you do a truck review 😏😎🍻👍👏👏
👍😆😆😆😃🎉
Thanks for the tour of the new truck. I like it a lot. Be safe and happy trucking
Thanks, you too!
Very nice. Enjoyed the tour. 😊😊😊😊
I've always been curious why Kenworth never added a ladder to the top bunk, like Freightliner and Peterbilts have. Specially if a person gets a charlie horse at night and needs to get down real quick. So, how would you rate the safety features for each type or brand of semi truck.
Nice looking Kenworth T680!
I hope the ride of the new truck is much better and that's what makes it all worth it.
Yes! It’s much better!
That storage behind the passenger seat has no doors? On the freightliner that stuff would be on the floor on a daily basis😅
Believe it or not, my 2024 freightliner cascadia doesn't shake like the old ones
Thanks both for showing us your home from home😊
Our pleasure!
Since this KW doesn't have the slide out table, you can buy a small fold up tv tray/table for extra prep space. When not in use, fold it up and slide it behind Tanja's seat.
That’s a thought. Thanks!!!
Kw does have a slide out table Crete cut cost and removed it
Best tour out there, im test driving one of these on friday and trying to decide if im going to change my 23 cascadia to a 25 t680. I love a lot of the stuff about the kenworth, but im not sure i can give up my 40 inch tv in my cascadia. Hoping i can jerry rig something to get a 40 incher in there.
I only do local now but when I did over the road I had a smoke and CO alarm in the cab.
👍👍👍
A bit smaller and some less items, but I think you already like the better ride and the power, and Tanya gets a lumbar support!
👍👍👍
I am a W9 person, but your office is very nice. As an O/O the W9 would kill you on MPG as a Co. driver would kill them on MPGS. Thank you for doing the walk around, and sharing with us.
👍👍👍🤩😃
Wow that’s a great rig for a company truck 🛻
Now I know why they had a driver shortage when I was out there
The company trucks we had were Mack’s
No power steering, 10 speed trans
Some had working air conditioning and some didn’t
No Jake brake, air operated windshield wipers could drive anyone insane from the noise
No radio, you wouldn’t be able to hear it anyway from the engine noise
Seats had a single hydraulic piston for adjustment
Storage in the truck was almost nonexistent
No refrigerator, you brought a cooler and kept some snacks etc
Eating on the road back then was far from healthy!
I’m glad things have improved I only wish I could have enjoyed these newer rigs
Very nice. Y'all stay safe. God bless you both. 🙏🙏🇺🇲
Nice job Kevin. Thanks for the ideas. Thumbs up
On the cleanliness and organization. I’m having a hard time with both and I’m ocd. Less is more!
No microwave
Nice truck, but i still like the freightliner better it's more reliable and way better for parking and backing. I see guys with kenworths not being able to turn, the radius is limited. But sure looks good 👍 😅
Not much in the way of storage. I prefer a Freightliner, has more cabinet storage. I keep my triangles next to the passenger seat on the floor, since the freightliner only has the driver side storage door. The window in the back definitely helps with blindside backing. I drove a T-600 years ago before the T-680 and i didn't like the pull out refrigerator because you couldn't put a gallon of water in it and shut the fridge door. T-600 T-680 makes me think of The Terminator "I'll Be Back" hee hee to be honest i hope i don't get a KW when i upgrade, i prefer the good ole fashioned freightshaker... Thanks SLOKEV for the tour for all of us to see
What do you cook on?
Do you not have a tv? I did not see one or a place for a microwave.
The microwave goes where they have knives and spices up in that cubby behind the passenger seat. The TV mount usually goes right under it but I don't believe the company allows them to have one installed.
I have the big table in my mid roof, I like it when I'm using it, but it's in the way when I'm not, I like my old Freightliner pull out drawer/ table, not having either one would suck
looking at this inside 2010 scania r500 i feel really lucky for the trucks we have in Europe , i mean it does look diffrent and cool but man , that dashboard and drivers comforts are like something in 1980s european truck
Darn….you mean we’re slumming it? 😔
@@TheJoyofTruckingI'm definitely not an expert on US trucks but if i compare this one to average 20 year old truck here then there's a lot more thought put into it to keep the driver comfortable , the bed looks fine but i was surprised how the light in the bed was presented as something special, is it in the US trucks ? I have no idea honestly
I've been in newer 2022-2023 ( Scania ) models too but haven't got the chance to do a long haul with them yet sadly , comparing with those is just not fair , they feel like high end luxury cars inside
How is the KW start stop system vs the Freightliner Opti-Idle?
I'm late to comment, but it looks like that cabinet on the floor behind the passenger seat almost looks like an afterthought. I drove a cascadia for several years for the same company and I'm really surprised there's no cabinet doors, are not even a drawer to pull out for a worktop like in the Freightliner.
Hey you still got the Werners water bottle! Haha me too. I also still have the sunshades though I don't it need it now with the curtains. What I miss the most from Werner is the ELD tablet
Lee Child. That’s some great reading.
I use your driver code when I got hired I’m currently doing the Walmart dedicated in north platte ne
Awwww! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! We really appreciate that!!!! Hope you have a great career here!!! Are you on that Walmart account or just helping out for a week?
Am on the account but I’m thinking about going to the national account otr
Are you getting 2500 plus on the national otr
@@delricocurry3640 👍Keep us updated. Thank you again! Hope we get to meet you someday so we can thank you in person. 😃🤩
@@delricocurry3640 Yes! Check the previous video for one year review of money and miles. 😃
I drive a cascadia. Company im hooking up to next has kennys. Interesting to see not much difference even though people drool over petes and kennys
dumb question kev? but when i had a digital dash i hated it besides tha freezing and not saving your settings. that damn glare in the drivers side window. when you drive at night you look out your window and all you see is its reflection. it drove me nuts snd i cudnt dim it. how u feel about it??
I looked up Crete but the website says it requires one year OTR. I only have 5 months OTR. I mostly drive daycab for a food service like Sysco. Just about 2 years overall trucking experience.
Good video trucker thanks
Sa-weet! I am looking forward to showing you my new (to me) ride. It's a 2023 Pete with a Cummins motor. Oh, and a microwave. As always, travel safely ✌🏼...
👍👍👍🤩
Good tour. How are the mattress for comfort, how thick are they, who made them. Did you install your cell booster. Based on the video you did I bought the same one for my boat. It works OK but to get full boost you need to hold the in cabin booster on your phone. In areas of no to low signal holding it on the phone gets me full bars. Holding it 2 feet away I get 1 to bars.
Have they made improvements so you’re able to see the digital display when it’s really bright outside / clear day, sun bearing down
Hey Kevin, how do you adjust the seat? I need the bottom to come up vertically a bit and can't get it figured out. I can't find any videos on TH-cam with these newer style of seats.
I wonder why they flipped the controls on the smart wheel?
I am thinking about going to the Roadmaster School in Jacksonville to get my CDL and go with Werner. Do you think that is a good starting point?
We hear it’s a good program. But a bit pricey. But you have to start somewhere. Werner has a serious focus on education. So if they meet your requirements in other areas than they might be a good match. Good luck! Let us know how it went.
No microwave or air fryer? How are you cooking?
We don’t like microwaves. We use a skillet, kettle, eat room temperature stuff. Bought an air fryer. Need to bring it on the truck still. I think it will be great!
Very nice🎉❤
Liked but where is the switch to reset or turn off battery just in case your digital dash board get frozen how do u restart truck or shut battery on or off
Thanks for the like. It’s on the floor slightly behind the driver seat.
Haven’t watched yet but let me guess. The same exact interior as the last 6+ years
Nice truck but it’s a typical fleet truck but it needs a 13 speed in it I never use the net when my partner drives of course I’m in lower bunk because you can’t sleep on top bunk when moving
👍👍👍🤩
People have to keep in mind that 99% of trucks off the production line are spec'd for fleets and not owner operators. You could literally spec a freightliner cascadia to out-do a KW and Peterbilt many times over when it comes to performance and driver comfort but, it comes down to knowing what all specs are actually available. Most just take whatever the dealer has on the lot not understanding the specs matter. Detroit axles paired with the airliner suspension are coming on a freightliner cascadia from the factory unless you specify otherwise. Truck manufacturers specialize in making trucks, not suspensions or seats. If you get the meritor axles in place of the detroits, you have a lot more options in terms of ride quality. When you order a brand new Kenworth or Peterbilt and you don't specify the exact suspension you want, there's a good chance you're gonna get a truck spec'd with paccar axles and low air leaf suspension then wonder why it rides like shit. My point is the brand of trucks really don't matter as they're all practically the same with minor differences, do your homework on every single component of the truck you're buying before you show up at a dealership. It's not just the engine or the transmission to makes that truck, it's all the parts that come together to either make it run like a dog or a rolls royce. Rant over.
Ant heating unit for food? Microwave? You mention a frying pan.
We don’t like microwaves. We have a kettle and electric skillet. The space is there. But we put our spices, oil, etc there instead.
Kevin and Tanya I never heard of a apap machine before. I had to look it up and research it and I just tried to send the link here and it wouldn't let me. Is it beneficial to the point where you really notice a big difference in how you feel in the morning?
Yes. It took some time but it makes a difference in how I feel and is averting health issues down the road.
@@TheJoyofTrucking: I'm retired now but used a CPAP machine from about 2001. Even though I was usually home daily, I sometimes would have to sleep in the truck. I had a prescription and, for my DoT physicals, I had to show 3 months worth of compliance. Easy today since the machine is connected to the provider. I just used the AC outlet below the bottom bunk in my 2020 T680. Thanks, you guys, for your awesome videos!!!
So Kenworths don't have ladders to access the top bunk?
That’s correct. You step onto a the bottom bunk and then a little ledge above fridge.
I've T680 interior photos where there is a ladder mounted on the bottom of the upper bunk. Guess it depends on the company spec-ing it when they order the truck...
Do I see 2 GPS units on the dash? If so ,why 2? Very nice set-up. Was waiting for the tour.....👍👍
One has a dashcam.
Can 2 people live somewhat comfortably in one of those trucks? I’m coming to Crete in a month or so, and my girlfriend is going to be coming with me. I’ve been in a day cab for 18 years and don’t know much about the size of the sleeper.
does it come with a Jake brake?
What kind of a stupid question is that? All semis have an engine break
What about that steering wheel? I noticed you have a cover on it. Looks like you covered it up because it’s a rubber steering wheel instead of a leather wrap wheel.
And makes it thicker.
I like it!
👍🤩🎉
Great video
Thank for the video👍... Can one apply to Crete from outside America
We don’t know if they do visas for that. Probably not. But you could contact them to find out. Sorry we don’t know.
nice
Thanks!
That is a nice truck
Hey Kevin, where is the engine brake on the Kenworth?
It's the lever on the right hand side of the steering column. Push it down. There are four positions. 1, 2, 3, and MAX.
@@TheJoyofTrucking Thank you Kevin and Tanja. I have only driven Freightshakers and Volvos, but this weekend I get to drive a Kenworth T680!
@@MarkOPolo456 Awesome!!! Enjoy! If it’s a newer one, take note of the smooth ride. That’s a huge difference between our new KW and the previous Freightliners.
Great video Both
Congratulations..you earned it!@!@!!!!
Thank you!!!
1the fridge is hot garbage wish they would get rid of it. 💯 2 would it really kill the outfitters to put shelf's back in below the TV shelf you know it's what was ment to be in their 😊
Where do her clothes go? We just got ours and working on making it our home away from home.
Congratulations!!!! Do you have a Freightliner or KW?
Kevin does the milage read out you have over 25,000 miles on it already ??
Yes. Didn’t make that video right away.
What are the sizes of he bunks? Years ago I ran sleeper in a cabover with an 18 inch bunk.
😳😳😳😳Are they legally allowed to call that a bunk? 😆😆😆🤣😂Much wider now.
Rambling Rose, like that name. Did you chose a name?
How is the lights on the ceiling?.
Less than in the Freightliner but sufficient.
Sufficient to put on my makeup? Sufficient to rollerset my hair? Sufficient to push out a black head on my face? Lol...im a girly, girl truck driver and they about to put me in a KW out of the Cascadia. Lord, help my vision because I can really see in that Cascadia. Now I have to rid some of my things because of no cabinets. I almost fainted when I saw that little bitty glove box over your head.
Good video
hat does it have for a Jake control ??
25,200 mi already
Hey did you try the coffee filter trick to wash your windows inside the rig oh just wanted to let the U- TUBERS I FOLLOW MY SON JUST STARTED HIS CDL PROCESS TO BE A OVER THE ROAD TRUCKER I AM HAPPY HE HAS BEEN AROUND IT ALL HIS I JUST RETIRED BACK IN OCTOBER 2022 CAN'T WAIT TO DO A TRIP WITH KEEP THEM VIDEOS COMING
Do you carry a portable cassette toilette for convenience?
Good question. No. We do not. Always find places for ‘doing business.’ 😆
I love the new truck! Looks like you're settled in pretty good! Does this truck have an APU for power and A/C??
Can you get a tv mount installed on the kw?
I've had friends ask about that and the company says no
No microwave?
You can put one if you like.
No microwave? How do you prepare food?
Electric skillet. Kettle. Eat a lot at room temperature.
Microwave?
Video approved, click.
👍👍👍
I don’t like them cause u can’t put a bigger fridge in them cause there connected to cabinet
Where do you mount your tv?
We don’t have one. Guess you’d need to see where Kenworth suggests to put a mount.
How do you heat up food
Skillet and kettle. We don’t like microwaves.
Very nice truck, though still prefer a freightliner 😆 🤣.....my first truck in 1995,loved it when I left my freightliner cabover......then classic freightliner and ever since.....may cause one kw parts were expensive, the a Peter built was a lemon 2015!!!!freightliner easier for me
looks like the 2016 just more technological advances and less fuil emesion
Do your company have a driver school
Unfortunately not. 😔
Crete doesn't let you slide tube fish wheel? 😂
As an aside, Pete does it better.
Don’t even have a good spot for a microwave
I detest digital dashboards.
2019 Kenworth is better. That new LCD screens reflection blocks the view on the driver's side mirror.....at night
👍👍
First
😆😆😆🤣😂😆🤩🎊🏆
No way for a digital dash board. Fuse blows out then poof no reading of anything.
Good God,am glad I have a Freightliner. What a piece of junk that KW is! They gave me one 5 years ago and 3 months later I was back in a Freightliner. The cheapest interior for the "greatest resource"...no doors on the closet compartments, no table whatsoever, the fridge is a joke, etc. How someone can actually praise this thing is beyond me. The only nice thing is the new dashboard! Crete should have never bought this POS!
What does your wife do when you sleep?
I work on TH-cam or sleep.
