- I found this mower online and bought it today for $460. I’m very happy I did. It is the 5th zero turn I have owned and maybe the best deal I’ve got on one. It’s not pretty but it gets the job done fast and has the lawn looking great afterwards. I’m very happy with this purchase and I have always enjoyed these cub cadet RZT mowers. One of my favorite jobs I ever had was working at a high end golf course hand mowing greens at sunrise. Paid slightly above minimum wage and had to be up at 4am, but once you got out on the course and moving around it was quite relaxing. When you would finish and get the perfect checkerboard on the green, very satisfying.
That’s a job not many people could say they have had, I would guess. It definitely sounds like it would be enjoyable and unique Josh! Before I started my own lawn care and landscaping business I worked for a huge business and some of the scenery I got to see in Lexington Kentucky was beautiful. It’s a big city, which I don’t care for myself, but it had a lot of beautiful horse farms that we mowed and getting to see the scenery of those farms was really something.
very enjoyable demonstration video... working on one of these CC RZTs for a friend, trying to get it back up to peak performance. Needs a little attention, but it's a great machine and cuts like a champ. Thanks so much!

Got the same mower with the Vtwin Briggs 22hp paid $1000 three years ago now has 568hrs was in excellent shape. The cut on these mowers is unbelievable to me I also have a new 2020 Cub ZT1 and it cuts better than that one. You got a awesome deal I must say💯👍🏾
Hello my friend! I remember you from a couple of years ago when I had my first channel called “four winds lawn care and firewood”. I only had it for a month or so but I remember you putting my name on your white board with others and saying thanks for the subscribers. You have came a long ways since then! Congratulations on that. I love those little cub cadet mowers. It’s the first time I have had one with a Kawasaki but I loved the ones that I had with kohlers. I believe you had just got your cub cadet zero turn when I had my last channel. I have tried to find you but I couldn’t remember the channel name. I searched for big dogs lawn care I believe. Thank you very much Max! I have almost always bought used equipment. I’ve never had a car payment in my life so far. I have found that if you learn to work on things you can save yourself a lot of money buying certain used equipment.

I’m very happy with that purchase Rick! I plan to remove that deck and patch and paint it if I can. But it defiantly needs work haha! The main thing I was worried about was how it mowed and ran and the hydro gears and all of that passed the test. I was very happy with how well it mowed! I just bought 1 today for $50. It runs and cuts good. My neighbor sold it to me cause it leaks a little oil and he bought a new one. Bad thing about it, 2 hours before I bought it, I just got back from buying a craftsman for $125 smh
Sounds like you got a great deal! It may be the cylinder gaskets leaking oil. That would be a simple fix. If nothing else as long as you keep oil in it you should be good to go. They are great mowers. That’s the 3rd one I’ve had and I’ve enjoyed all of them.
I just got one for $350. Same model and engine as yours. Deck also rusted thru. Has 255 hours
That’s a great price for that amount of hours! If it runs and mows. I love those cub cadet RZT mowers myself. This is my 3rd one and I have out those mowers through a lot over the years. Even mowing commercially with them. Sounds like you got a great deal!
If you haven't already, these have a reverse cut off. Cut the purple wire under the seat. Thank me later.
I disconnected mine as well. I saw a guy here on TH-cam show how to disconnect it. It’s definitely a bad feature, in my opinion.
Cub cadets back then were made to not mow in reverse
Hope you get a nice deck for it, should last for awhile
I plan to remove that deck and patch and paint it to see how that does. I had a job years ago latching bullet proof doors in a factory and I feel I got pretty decent at patching metal from it. It definitely needs work before it gets worse though haha! It’s always good to hear from you Michael.
Kholer better engine kawasaki is okay but kinda under powered
It starts runs for about five minutes and dies
I would take it to a reliable small engine mechanic.
Sounds like the gas cap isn’t venting. Try loosening the gas cap after a few minutes and see if it still dies.
Find yourself a good used deck and you are in business.
I was thinking that as well Garry. I plan to patch and paint that one for now but if I find a good deal on one I may get it. I love those cub cadet rzts. I paid $1900 for one and $900 for another. $2600 for an exmark and it was very similar to the cub cadets. All of the mowers were used but worked great. I didn’t expect to find a functioning zero turn for $460. I’m really happy with this purchase. And the Kawasaki engine is supposed to be great. Both of my other cub cadets had kohlers and they did great as well.
