    Every time I replay "Thunder Castle" there's always something in my head who says "WOW"!
    That game was absolutely STRONG for its year of release: the graphics, the animations, the sound effects but mainly the music: everything was so far (in a positive way) from everything produced in that age!
    Intellivision was very strong on RPG sector: I also own a still sealed copy of "Cloudy Mountain" that I found into a very little store of generic vintage stuff some months ago.
    Nice list: Tower of Doom was AMAZING! And it still is.

    Treasure of Tarmin, Tower of Doom and Cloudy Mountain were my favorites. Also love Night Stalker and Tron Deadly Discs.

      Man, you just named a ton of my favorites... Treasure of Tarmin, Night Stalker, Tron Deadly Discs and Lock N' Chase. Loved Cloudy Mountain, but once Treasure of Tarmin came out I never went back to Cloudy Mountain.

    If I do make a top 10 Intellivision games, I'd definitely put there: Tron Deadly Discs, Atlantis, Happy Trails, Bump n Jump, Dreadnaught Factor, He-man, Burgertime and Thunder Castle

    One that I liked a lot that I hope to see a review of at some point: "Microsurgeon".

    If you haven't played B17 Bomber you are missing out. Tron Deadly Disks and Night Stalker was also a favorite

    There were so many great games for the Intellivision, but I had trouble using the controller. I was to used to the joystick controllers on the Odyssey, Atari and TI-99/4A.

    • @BriansManCave
      @BriansManCave 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There was an add on joystick you could attach to the disc, but I think it was made by a third party company!

      Controller is/was a dealbreaker for me back in the day for sure

      Well you're certainly not alone there. I love the 'telly controller...16 buttons and 16 way directional disc. Unless you were playing something like AstroSmash (just back and forth left/right), your thumb should never leave the disc. To this day, no one has implemented so many buttons in a way like playing the bases/outfield in baseball. The controller made that game shine! ColecoVision had the same idea but never really implemented the keypad and the joystick at the top made that controller unwieldy.

    Real nice! It was hard just picking 10 games as there are so many great ones on the system! I still need to give that Tower of Doom game a try :-)

    Sweet video, and sweet list Phil! I have all of these via either physical copy, or on the AtGames IntelliVision Flashback. With Diner being the lone exception. Especially enjoy the D&D games.

    The best game was B-17 bomber! Baseball was excellent in its day. Best space game was The Dreadnought Factor. Sea battle was a fun classic. Burger Time was also very good (as shown in your video). Of all the old systems (ColecoVision, 2600, 5200), Intellivision had the best D&D games. Last but not least Utopia. PS. Motocross was pretty good too as well as golf ⛳️.

    Sub Hunt deserves it. One of the games if you describe it out loud to someone who never plays games of the era you could blow their mind. Space Spartans is one of my favorites too.

    I HAD NO IDEA that there was another BurgerTime sequel!
    Also, that version of BurgerTime looks vastly superior to the NES version, which had Peter Pepper about as fast and unresponsive as he could possibly be. 😒

    No one has brought it up, but as a kid I really liked a game called lock N chase. Also, even though you said you wouldn't cover them, I'll give some multiplayer love for sea battle and utopia.

    Well if you like Sub Hunt you must be like me and are also a fan of the NES Silent Service game. I could understand how it wasn't for everyone but man did I love that game. Cloudy Mountain is the only Intellivision game I really know, such a classic. I see it as the next step up from the 2600's Adventure.

    My personal favorite will probably always be Worm Whomper. I wish Activision would get with the Amico people if that's a system that ever gets released. A 2.5D remake would be RAD!!!

    1. Burger Time
    2. River Raid
    3. Shark Shark
    4. Happy Trails
    5. Snafu

    What a fantastic list! Your top 10 pretty much matches mine, although the original AD&D game just beats out Tower of Doom for me, due to it's simplicity and addictiveness! Don't get me wrong though, Tower of Doom is incredible, it still blows my mind to this day (such a shame it wasn't an official AD&D release). I'd also replace He-man with Venture (the intellivision version is very good) and Beauty and the Beast with Dig Dug (another surprisingly good arcade port). Regardless, I love your quick and to the point videos. Cheers!

    "Ironic that Atari made a better version of Pac-Man for Intelliviion". It is but given how the 2600 generated graphics to remain cheap, it is impressive what they were able to achieve with Pac-Man and most other games. Checkout the book Racing the Beam for more details, or the Wired article about the book you can find online.

    The intv version of burger time is terrible. The controls suck, the collision detection is suspect, it doesn't have the arcade mazes, and, as far as I've been able to ascertain, if you drop a piece with an enemy on it, it only goes down one level.
    There's only one good home port, and that's the Colecovision.
    I'm surprised Demon Attack didn't make your list. I enjoy the time intellivision port quite a bit.

      I like DA, it's just not one of my top games on the system. Sorry you don't like BT. Btw, when you drop a piece with an enemy on it, it does go down more than one spot in the Intellivision version. Personally I'd chose the Itellivision version over the NES port, but that's just me.

      In 1983, this port was phenomenal.

    • @tempestfury8324
      @tempestfury8324 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And the ColecoVision controller was better? I didn't think so. The joystick at the top was really awkward and they designed it for the keypad which was rarely used anyway. I agree that most ports on the ColecoVision were better but it became a wash with horrible controller design.
