    I loved TRON: Deadly Discs, AD&D Treasure of Tarmin, SNAFU, Auto Racing, Demon Attack, Night Stalker, Utopia, just about all the sports games, B-17 Bomber, Bomb Squad and TRON: Solar Sailer for the Intellivoice, and the amazing Sea Battle!

    Sea Battle is one of my all time favorite multiplayer games that was ever released on any console. My buddies and I will dig up the Intellivision every few years and have a Sea Battle Tournament. Treasure of Tarmin was probably my favorite single player game.

    • @bonzainews
      @bonzainews 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, finally finally someone that has good taste. I spent more hours playing sea battle and utopia with my brother than any other 2 player games. Treasure of Tarmin is still my most played game on intellevision...

      Yes Sea Battle! Salvos!!! My friend and I made a treaty in Utopia just peace no war (of course only preparing for war). He couldn't help but inch his way close and sink my fishing boats, and giggling at the same time, but claimed it was an accident! It was an Act of War! One of the most fun I've had on Intellivision.

    • @jimi45sandotherrarities73
      @jimi45sandotherrarities73 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sea Battle is still on my hall of fame list up there with any game for any console. The one drawback is you have to find someone as good as you or nearly as good as you to have fun with it. Rarer and Rarer as time goes by. I played with my neighbor and my dad growing up who were both worthy competition and made the game super fun. I tried to get my oldest son to learn the game as he got into games during the PS1/N64 era and while he did like some intelllivision games from my old collection he just didn't have the patience to learn this one.

    Intellivision was so important to me as a kid. We had over 70 games for the system and we played the thing to death. We had to get a second unit when the first wore out. What a beautiful thing.

    Thunder Castle - a great maze game that has amazing music and multiple layouts.
    Tower of Doom - an action RPG that started out life as a Dungeons & Dragons game, it'll draw you in.
    Diner - an exclusive sequel to Burgertime, done in an isometric 3D style, with more and more complex levels.
    Shark! Shark! - essentially a mobile phone game decades before mobile phones. You start out as a tiny fish and have to eat other fish your own size to grow larger and larger but avoid getting eaten yourself.
    Hover Force - an overhead shooter, taking place over a city under attack from terrorists assaulting the city with helicopters. You have to shoot them down and put out the fires from their attacks.
    Beauty & The Beast - a good, solid platformer in the style of Donkey Kong but with better progression, climbing the building section by section.
    Utopia - one of the earliest "God sims" available, you run one of two islands onscreen and you plant crops, build schools and hospitals, send out fishing ships while avoiding pirates, and so on. Keep the population happy and they won't rebel and you'll build a real civilization.
    Thin Ice - a game where you ice skate around other penguins to cut open the ice and dunk them in the water, but you have to avoid the really quick seal that's chasing you. Surprisingly good.
    Stadium Mud Buggies - an isometric perspective game with unusual racing mechanics along with crushing vehicles with your truck. A super rare game, this one's well outside most people's price range but the game did get ported over to the NES as Monster Truck Rally.

    My alltime favorite is called The Dreadnaught Factor. All other space-shoot games pale in comparison! Love Burger Time & Snafu. Most of those other ones I didn't have as a kid. I've collected them now, but haven't been able to spend time playing. the single player release of Football (was it called Super Pro?) has been one that I bought recently and have loved. It was always frustrating to play the 2-player game by myself. Played the D&D and AD&D a lot as kid. Pulled them up recently but didn't have the patience. lol. Every now and then I can still get one of my kids to play Utopia with me. That's probably my 2nd fav.

    Imagic, "Microsurgeon." What an amazing title, and yes it requires command of the 12 buttons and learning the manual. But what rich game play! Another fun title is the Intellivoice, "B17 Bomber." It also uses the game pad, but the action keeps you on your toes, especially when there is a "bandit at 9 o'clock."

    When I was a kid my parents gave me the Radio Shack knockoff "Tandyvision" for Christmas one year. One of my favorite games was Utopia, which is probably a very early ancestor of Sim City and Civilization kind of games. Still fun to play today on my flashback console.

  • @ml5955

    These are essential:
    * Baseball
    * D&D Cloudy Mountain
    * Dreadnought Factor
    * Utopia
    * B-17 bomber (one of the best games for the system)
    * Burger Time
    * Shark Shark
    * Sea Battle
    * PGA Golf
    * Motocross
    * D&D Treasure of Termin
    That is all my memory can dig up, but there were several other great titles that I can’t recall at the moment. All great games of that era.

    Yes, we're passionate about the Intellivision. I've been playing since 1981, and now I'm an indie developer myself. I understand about the controllers and the higher complexity of games.

  • @intylab

    Commercial titles to be added are: Night Stalker, Thin Ice, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (both of them), Tower of Doom, Thunder Castle, Dig Dug, The Dreadnaught Factor, White Water, Beauty & The Beast, Atlantis, and Demon Attack. There are a lot of excellent indie titles as well, but you can start with these.

    Astrosmash. I remember completing all levels and starting over for the 2nd time, but the game was super fast. I had 75 lives left, so I thought I can take a break, get Dad to play it and I'd still be alright. I quickly grabbed a sandwich, and drink. He was struggling, so I finally took over with like less than 20 lives left. By that time, my mojo was gone and I lost. I just couldn't believe he lost 50 or so lives in a matter of 5 minutes lol. It was like dying every 1.6 seconds.

    Great video. The INTV port of Bump n Jump is one of my favorite games, even better than the NES version of the game. Not often you can say that! Auto Racing is also an important game IMO. It was the first time I can recall a racing game that completely let you go off the tracks and drive between houses and through the landscape, even crossing to other tracks! That type of gameplay still lives on today and is very successful in games like Forza Horizon. Don't know of any others that let you do that prior to Auto Racing.

    I was always an Atari fan and always will be. But the intellivision deserves love to. Generally intellivision versions are superior but,dealing with the controller turns some off. They did make a joystick snap on that makes the controller 10 times better. Almost as good as the Ataris. But its difficult to find those snap on joysticks.

    I admire you for giving value to Intellivision. The beauty of the console is games that can't be learned relatively quickly - like Sea Battle, Lock 'N Chase, Utopia, Dungeons and Dragons - Treasure of Tarmin which deviate from arcade games at the time because they took a long time to play. Intellivision was a thinking man's console. Keep up the great videos brother :)

    My thumbs start to ache whenever I see an Intellivision controller....
    but it was great.
    Best games were:
    Advanced D&D II : Treasure of Tarmin (A 3D-like game)
    Bump N Jump
    Nightstalker
    B-17 Bomber (with voice mod)
    Tron Deadly Discs
    Astrosmash
    Snafu
    Frog Bog (think they changed the name later to Frogs N Flies)
    Two player games:
    Utopia !
    Triple Action (this had a smaller version of Race, Tank Battle, and a Biplane battle)
    Sea Battle (THE ANCESTOR to World of Warships !!!)
    Swords and Serpents

    "What is love." Wasn't this the bery first 16-bit console? I think that's crazy and I often wonder why it didn't power past everything if it's true. Even if its RAM was paltry and very slow having a company like Mattel behind them should have let them go wild. I can imagine making games with extra helper chips that really kicked the tires of that maybe 16-bit hardware.

      Newer games utilize something called JLP which allows for: real-time multiply and divide, extra 16-bit RAM, and saving data to EEPROM. I put all those features to use on my final release of FUBAR.

    I bought this console in a plug in version with 60 games . I've got to build my own cards to play.
    I have a few Game Cards that came with it .

    I really love Worm Whomper, Go-Sub and Intellivania. I have the TandyVision One Radio Shack Intellivision Clone and also play the ROMS using Berryboot Retro Pi on the Raspberry Pi 4B 8GB in the Vilros keyboard/touchpad hub with an 8bitdo N30 wireless mouse and my Favorite controller. I think it's like a Stealthy Black C64. Keyboard PC'S are back in style in my book. I had to pick up a Raspberry Pi 400 as well. Go-Sub is being offered for free now as a ROM by the developer but Intellivania is like fifteen bucks or so. I may get Gooninuff as well. I missed out on Sydney Hunter.

    Tron, Shark Shark, Sea Battle and Football are all essential. Add the talking games - all four were great. I think you've missed some of the 'fun' of the multi-player games - Sea Battle was our group favorite, and the one that started the most fights was Utopia.

    first video I've seen on this channel. Great production quality but I was surprised none of the sports and betting games were highlighted. I owned an intellivision back in the 80's and didn't play or own any of the games you highlighted. will check out more of your content though. it's obvious you put a lot of thought and effort into making polished content

    Good video. The volume going up when you're not talking was way too loud. The single best game for the Intellivision was Tron: Deadly Discs. Find that one and play it. I had the Atari and my friend had the Intellivision, so we would switch off which house to play at. I had more games, but he had Tron: Deadly Discs! So, while I like your list, there's a lot of games that were good. No wrong list :-)
