    Going back to watch some of your old vids. You make me feel safe when you always tell us that you check the FDA guidelines even when using old recipes that are no longer done the old way. Such a blessing to have you teaching us.

    This recipe is exciting. When I was young my Mom would by a chicken spread in a can it made two perfect sandwiches for her and myself. We sat on the porch swing after kindergarten and ate together. Sweet memories.

    I absolutely want to make that for my Hub’s lunches, and more! 1966 was a very good year! That’s when Hubs and I got married, 56 years ago yesterday! I’d love to find a copy of that Blue Book! 🥰 Thanks, Jeni! I love what you do!

    I made this the other day and it was an instant hit with the family! They love the individual serving jars (so easy to take to work with a couple of mayo packets) - instant sandwich in under a minute! They also report that the meat is nice and tender and moist and that it's equally yummy on bread, saltines, or Ritz (they've been very dedicated to testing!). I used three giant chicken breasts (4 pounds total) and got exactly 12 jars, as your recipe said I would. This definitely has a permanent place in my rotation! Thank you for sharing!

    I have that same book, my step mothers from back in the 60s. I call it my canning bible. On the last page it has a recipe on how to preserve a husband. lol

    Just got my first pressure canner in July and this recipe is one of the first things I made. Opened a jar tonight and made sandwiches. We absolutely love this chicken salad. I thought the mustard tasted too strong before it was canned, but the canning must have mellowed it down or something. I simply can’t thank you enough! Look at me, rebel canner right out of the box. Hahahahaha only because I know I can trust your canning. Thank you so much.

    yes I have this book it was my first canning book. once you grind your chicken then u fry it up the same as you would if you were canning hamburger then add your celery onions etc and broth.. Blessings to you and yours

    I can chicken breast for my Yorkie that has health problems. Im going to try this recipe but im going to raw pack the chicken cubed. The chicken comes out firmer and is wonderful. So if you find your chicken is mushy you may want to give it a go. Of course this will be for the mama of that little Yorkie! Thanks!

    I made this last year when i found the video and absolutely loved it i just did a quarter of a cup of mustard as i dont like too much was perfect I had left over broth so canned that to and use to cook rice in my instapot yum thanks for shareing this wonderful recepie💜💯💫

      What did you use the canned mustard broth for? I love this chicken salad in a jar recipe, but always end up with leftover mustard broth when I'm canning, and no ideas for its use.

      It seems the extra broth would be good for baked chicken, pork chops braised, over roasted vegetables. I wonder how it would be also in a slaw.

    We find canned chicken to be so versatile...First time I canned it I didn't trust myself to use it for weeks...It was the first meat I'd ever canned. Don't be afraid your going to love It!

      I’ve never canned meat till last year and eyeballed it with serious skepticism. When i finally opened a jar of chicken i was AMAZED! Every bit as good as buying the expensive canned stuff in the store!!! WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?!?!? Since then I’ve canned everything i can get my hands on!!! Including broth from EVERYTHING! If i boil potatoes, i can the broth. That will go into soup rather than down my drain!

    I have this in the hot tub (canner) right now. It smells awesome. I cannot wait to crack open a jar add a little mayo and eat on a rice cake or crackers. I canned mine in half-pint jars. I had a lot of broth left so I am canning that as well. Next time, I will just open a jar or two of that, heat it and be ready to can. I made some veggie stock yesterday when I canned your pot pie in a jar recipe. I threw the celery, end pieces, onion peels and ends, carrot peels and potato peels in a pot of water and simmered it all day then strained it and put it in the refrigerator for today. So today I put it on to boil, added my chicken breasts, Dijon mustard, chicken bullion, vinegar, and I did not have allspice berries or pepper corns so I took a tsp. of pickling spices and put in a stainless steel tea ball and dropped in the brine to boil. I removed my chicken when it had simmered for about an hour, let it cool and chopped it. I packed the jars as you did in the video and currently am venting my canner. Thanks Jeni for another awesome recipe... I saved a quart of the brine that I did not can. I am going to cook some potatoes in it for dinner tonight. There was some little chicken pieces in the strainings so that will go in it as well. Blessings my friend, I hope you are having an awesome day!

    Yes, trying to clean out my freezer too, must canned about 25 pounds of boneless pork butts. Glad to get them done.

    Yes its the best book and it should have a guide too how much seeds and how many foot rows of veggies too grow for a family of 4. And yes my mother and aunt would can it and ham salad each year together. And they used the old fashion hand meat grinder. Up if you do use it remember too run a slice of bread threw it too clean it before and after your done. It keeps it from having a metal taste.

      I have started canning this as a raw pack and I like the results better. I do can the ham salad as well, I have a video on it. I grew up on that bologna salad, I’m from Michigan! 😊

    That looks yummy, have to try it. I have a lot of things canned up, but not as much as some of you. My immediate family doesn't do any canning or just a little and I have 6 sisters. I do have a sister in law who does some, and a couple of nieces who do some also. I don't know why I'm the one who loves it so much but I do.

    Found you by scrolling through canning videos. Love the dachshund babies. I had one for 15 years until she passed away 2 years ago on Christmas day. Anyway, love the recipe and I can't wait to try this. Great find on the Ball book!

    Looks fantastic will try it. We use white pepper instead of black. Tiny bit goes a long way. Doc says no more black pepper for awhile.

      I have made this twice, now. I love it,. It is very easy for me to eat, since I don't have teeth, since my cancer surgery last March. It is awesome. I reduced the mustard a little more a left out the vinegar, since I add pickle relish to it.

      @@eyes2see438 hi there! We love the chicken salad! I will add more mustard to it the me t time but that would be my only change. You can add carrots, it will sweeten it up a bit. 😊

    I think I will try adding some curry powder to that broth, and make my sandwich with a little something sweet. Grapes? Apple slices? Sweet pickle? Hmmm…the possibilities are endless. Thanks for sharing this recipe 😊

    The great thing about adding mustard to this mix is you can change the flavor of the chicken salad depending on what kind of mustard you choose to use that day
