Pancake! The first thing that comes to mind: Maple syrup, honey, sweet, milky, and fluffy!
This is not that pancake. I figured since our last recipe was a little bit on the sweet side (Caramel popcorn), I'll go towards the opposite today.
The recipe for this afternoon is a Japanese Pancake called Okonomiyaki. It is popular street food in Japan and is normally made with a variety of vegetables, tempura scraps, pork belly, and eggs.
For my version, I am putting my vegan/vegetarian twist on it.
This is so easy with readily available ingredients in your local supermarket or farmers market. This is the type of pancake that you can have for lunch! Trust you are looking after yourself.
    ***
    𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦
    For the Pancakes:
    1 cup All-Purpose Gluten-Free Flour
Soy Milk, as much as needed
    1 White Onion, thinly sliced
    600g Cabbage, thinly sliced
1 Large Carrot, peeled and grated
    2 Spring Onions, sliced
Salt and Black Pepper, to taste
    Coconut Oil, for frying
    For Serving:
    2 Tbsp Hoisin Sauce
    2 Tbsp Vegan Mayo
1 Seaweed Nori, blend to make small pieces
    1 Spring Onion, sliced
    A pinch of #inspiration
    𝗠𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗗
Add flour, salt, and milk into a bowl and whisk to make a batter. It should be a bit thicker than pancake batter.
Fold the veggies in the batter.
Heat a pan on low and coat the bottom of the pan with oil.
Place a handful of batter into the pan and form it into a round, pancake form.
Gently press the pancake down and cook for about 8 minutes on both sides.
Flip and cook on the other side for 8 more minutes.
Serve with hoisin sauce, mayo, seaweed, and sliced spring onions.

Love the video and am definitely going to make this. I don't think you need the music, you are entertaining enough! I found it too loud and it did mask your voice somewhat.

    PS.
    Petra again.
For the carrot, you use the " fine " side of the plate right?
And for the cabbage, the " coarse " side of the plate?
Could you let me know on that?
    Thanks,
    Petra.

    Dear Cynthia,
    Petra here.
For the grater machine, of which of the plate did you use? Slice plate that slices in rounds, the plate that has large and small holes for grating or the one with the round holes what looks like a comb like ( sorry, I don't have the booklet in front of me what each plate is called what I have here ) maybe you could take a picture of the plate you had used and send it here so that I can see the plate you had used.
    Thanks,
    Petra.

love this video. i learned a lot. I made it. I'm wondering is it supposed to be soft and goey inside? I cooked it more than 8 minutes per side but it still seemed raw and goey in the middle. Flavor was perfect though

It can be - sometimes it is and at other times it’s not. But less flour and it’s not.

    Dear Cynthia,
    hi 👋 from Petra.
Wow, your veggie pancakes looks really yummy actually, looks really yummy.
Have to bare that one in mind to make, l think I would be in the mood to make that, Iove lots of veggies. 😊😉🤗
I have a question for you regards to the nori seaweed whatever the rest is called, 🤔🤔🤔, hmm, since I really didn't quite pay attention what you do with it, and it looks like as if it was just lying around just so on the your table, after you mix all the veggies together in the bowl, what actually do you do with your nori sheet there after the 1 slice of pancake being put onto the plate?
That is, I did pay attention to your video there how you were making it, but I didn't really catch on what exactly what you did to your nori sheet, could you explain that to me? I would appreciate it. 🤗
Also, does the whole thing really take 2 hours to make?
    Holy cow. 😨
In regards to the cabbage, and while watching your video, l too know that feeling of the cabbage situation, when I too go grocery shopping, they actually do come in different sizes, and me being " also single " , and if I had one large cabbage, would be for me too much, as I don't know what to do with the rest of the cabbage.
Also, on the subject being single Cynthia, my tip to you, from one single person to another, be happy, it's best to have lots of girlfriends as to being married, I too had my experiences with relationships, always ended up with heartaches, so, just continue what you do, men are not that important, more girlfriends is better you know what I mean?
    Luv P.
    PS.
    Also very important.
Is it possible for this once you could make time for me per messenger video, or possibly per zoom, I would really like to talk to you regards to my or your Facebook group, without it, I cannot be able to see all your updated posted recipes.
Written to your office e-mail about it 2 days ago, waiting for a re: ply back.
    Petra

The market will cut a cabbage in half for you. Or make all the pancakes and freeze them so you have them ready to heat and eat.

      @@bjay8688 Dear B Jay,
to make the pancakes all at once and freeze later, is not a bad idea actually, your right about it, one can always eat it at another time.
      Petra.
      PS.
I somehow get the feeling Cynthia doesn't like me, don't know why. 🤔😨😦 Hmm.

  • @petranachtsheim2878
    @petranachtsheim2878 3 ปีที่แล้ว

One last question for you Cynthia, you used only 1/2 of the cabbage to put through the slicer machine, what did you do with the other 1/2 of the cabbage? Put it back in the fridge? I wouldn't know what to do with the other 1/2 , could you give me some idea what l would do with the other 1/2 ? 🤔 Hmm? I don't want my other 1/2 of my cabbage to go bad, l'm worried about that.
    Petra.

You don't need to buy something too big if what you're going to use is only for 1 person. I cook a lot, it's never going to go to waste.

The miking was terrible. I have no idea what she said between the low volume that I had at full, and a bit of her accent. Shame, I would have liked to try them. They need a recipe that we can copy. Plus I have no idea what the sauces were.
