People are quick to judge 9/11 conspiracy theorists but I feel like a lot of young people who didn't really live through it don't understand just how fucked that time in American history was. I was a teenager at the time and I remember buying into the conspiracy theories because Bush had used 9/11 to rush us into two horrific wars. It seemed too convenient especially knowing that our government had intelligence directly warning them about this exact kind of event and did nothing to prevent it. Of course in hindsight it seems silly and wacky to believe the conspiracies but at the time we'd just watched the unthinkable happen and most Americans desperately wanted the world to make sense and to believe the people supposedly in control of the world were actually in control of the world.
How is it quackery? No one knows who was behind it to this day. It's the modern day equivalent of starting ww1 because you think a group/ nation is behind something against one person...
When the government uses a tragedy to advance an agenda they'd had in the works for years, it's understandable why some people would question the legitimacy of said tragedy. Especially when it comes out later that, once again, the Feds knew about it years in advance and did nothing.

The chorus to Stockholm Syndrome is really well mixed and I honestly really struggle to see your complaints about it. It's supposed to be a lush and subdued moment in the song and the mixing matches that by highlighting the pianos instead of the drums and guitar, and I think you were let down because you were expecting a heavy explosive chorus

I just want to say I apologise for bringing up the terror storm thing in the chat, i didnt really think it was that much of a big deal considering how small it is, sure if the interview were a few years later than yeah it would've been mega yikes. Matt isn't a person to fall into far right conspiracies/alt right pipelines, his stance was more on mistrust of US imperialism and capitalist structures like the military industrial complex. He's more of a left leaning libertarian/socialist and retracted his statements in 2012 fully, he doesn't believe in conspiracies anymore considering how much of a shit show they've become over the past 10 years, sure conspiracies have always been a shitshow but 2010-2020s level reached peak idiocy/far right bs. In fact wotp is about criticizing far right conspiracism. Also, absolution wasn't necessarily written as a 9/11 album, sure that may have come to mind but really the meaning behind the album picks up from the atheist anti-organised religious stance in oos closer megalomania with songs like thoughts of a dying atheist, apocalypse please and fury especially. Considering this album has songs which very much look at religion in society and spirituality on a more ground level, it's really just about coping with chaos and nihilism etc. not the terror storm bs. Black Holes is indeed very much about the imperialism discussed earlier and is very anti-bush/blair with songs like take a bow, assassin, city of delusion and soldier's poem, even KoC critiques neoliberal ideology by implementing a more socialist stance. The truth is matt is indeed an insane, paranoid person but he isn't the flat earth, anti-vaxx "liberal agenda" kind of conspiracist, his conspiracism was just more involved in anti-iraq war sentiments and mk ultra, which are both against American imperialism, sure the idea of a conspiracy theory are flawed and how the concept of illuminati in fact reinforces capitalist structures rather than critiquing it, which is why i'm glad matt's out of the conspiracy phase.
Don't apologize, that whole segment was mad entertaining live. On a serious note though, it is indeed important to consider that people change and their ideological focus can change too. A lot of us are attracted to some pretty extreme ideas when we're younger that we grow out of, or begin to accept the facts about and move on. It's also pretty important to note that Alex Jones's show had a less cult-like vibe back in 2006 than it has for the last decade. Before he leaned fully into right-wing punditry, he was casting a wider antiestablishment net, and his ideas reached more people than just your stereotypical Facebook right-winger. I wouldn't see an appearance on Alex Jones in 2006 as an endorsement of 2022 Alex Jones's views.

As someone who thinks Muse easily haven’t made a good record since 2009, Stockholm Syndrome and this album in general, are absurdly good. If you dislike Absolution, you kinda dislike several core aspects of Muse (which is fair). Also, Matt’s vocal distortion is iconic to this era of the band. There’s like 5x more vocal distortion in Hysteria’s live performances and it’s fucking sick lol
Bit random to argue with your comment a year later, but I think drones was pretty good. The last two albums are where it’s really fallen off completely for me. As for absolution, I’ve never understood why so many see it as their best album, because for me origin of symmetry is the most complete album and doesn’t drag at all, whereas absolution feels like it’s dragging at points.
The 2nd law had some bangers (wolstenholme singing was awesome and the whole album had a very strong purpose), drones was a great rock album tbf, and Simulation Theory was a meh for me. Wotp was just a disappointment bc I knew they could do better and weren't even trying.
That was... certainly a development alright? I still adore Stockholm Syndrome. The chorus is probably one of my favorite things in it with its Final Fantasy Prelude music background. Also brings back completely unrelated memories of a really cool game i used to play.
@@Codo_Lyoko Thank you! Muse is fantastic, and so is Radiohead! They are both immaculate bands, and are the writers of my Favourite songs ever. For Radiohead, Paranoid Android, Airbag, Electioneering, Just, Fake Plastic Trees, 2 + 2 = 5, Bodysnatchers, and Jigsaw Falling into Place are a couple of my favourite songs ever (im sure theres more). For muse, Space Dementia, New Born, Fury, Assassin, Glorious, Unnatural Selection, Yes Please, even Reapers and KOBK are right up there too. After Showbiz, they really werent that similar to what Radiohead was doing at all. They were just similar enough to where you can like both bands (unless you are actively trying to dislike them) They both grow on you, they both have some truly extraordinary songs, and two of arguably the best and most influential bands of their generation.

I think Stockholm syndromes production suits the vibe it’s going for quite well. The chorus is the constant beating of drums, bass, and guitar, overpowered by the softer piano and synth, with an almost tender melody from the vocals. I think it fits the conflicted nature of the song. It’s a good contrast to the guitar and drum favoring parts before it, imo.

@@smilph problem to me is that any good songs with bad production either come from places where bad production is a given/not a hindrance, or the badness adds to the track. I for example adore the song "i wanna be your dog" by the stooges, and the production is everything but perfect, but the roughness adds to the beauty of it. Same for alot of clash songs for me: you could argue the production ain't there... but i don't want it there !
About the mood thing: yes, and that makes it better. It adds extra context to have both a in-the-moment "human" resction and a "robo" post facto. Often the final robo version is what we see in most reviews, but what i think is so valuable in these videos is seeing the process and not just the conclusion. Being able to compare viewpoints with both the emotional and the rational is a great resource!
The "robo" version of the review being, for example, mr melon explaining his well-thought out thoughts after relistening 10x. Even if you tell me about your first time experience, it's different from actually seeing that first experience, and the fact you include it in the "robo" version means you had to intentionally include it
This was the first album that I listened to by then when I was 14. My brother gave it to me, and I didn't have lyrics. Half of them I couldn't even understand, but I interpreted his lyric choice as more of how the words sounded when sung VS what they actually meant. I was entranced by most of it, but over time, little teen me ended up downloading every single song by them including alternate recordings and isolated instrument tracks so I could learn them on guitar. I even tried learning the live variations. The new stuff is pretty goofy, but I applaud them for trying new things constantly. I always go back to Showbiz, OOS, and Hullaboo and all of the B-Sides when I want to feel 15 again. There's something really space-horror about old Muse, and I'm a sucker for space-horror anything.

This reaction feels like a strange turn from the last one. Brad had a really good attitude going into OOS but in this video he goes in seemingly fully expecting it to suck and he seems unwilling to listen to the music on its own terms. Muse has like 9 albums and while yes I do think WOTP is ass I don't know why Brad thinks Muse falling off was something that happened over the span of one album. There's still a lot of great stuff in between OOS and WOTP. I like brad's videos a lot but this was a frustrating watch.
This doesn't nullify the criticisms on the production of the album, but I'm pretty sure the band only had a few days to mix the entire thing. I'm really hoping for a 20th aniversary remix of this like they did with oos. or even better, a rerecording.
Yes I agree, but definitely not a re-recording. It just wouldn’t be the same I’d hope that they have the audio files laying around somewhere for the individual vocals instrumentals etc. If that’s the case they can work with the individual components of each song and the product would sound excellent. With the exception of adding stuff that wasn’t supposed to be there, they did an awesome job with the OOS remaster. I have faith they’d make the Absolution remaster just as good.
iirc it was actually OoS that they only had a few days to mix - I believe Matt said so in an interview about the 20th anniversary remix of OoS, but it could have also been the case for Absolution
muse really grows on you, i remember when i listened to this album for the first time (2021) i was quick to shrug it off, not really feeling anything it offered me, but it's slowly and surely affirming itself as a staple in my daily routine. though origin of symmetry is definitely wilder, this one is more intentional, but still as consistently good. the sobriety of this album leads to some of muse's most emotional and well written bits in their discography. also really good for gym.
Brad, please don’t try to connect this album’s lyrics to the Alex Jones conspiracy stuff. This album came out in 2003, and Matt didn’t really start going down that rabbit hole until the next album Black Holes & Revelations in ‘06. Please try to evaluate Absolution separately, because when he wrote it, he was not as obsessed with conspiracy theories as he became shortly after. And even then, don’t confuse this fascination with right-wing politics. He’s a leftist with some libertarian attributes. He was only on Alex Jones’ show because he was fascinated by his documentary Terror Storm about 9/11 being a false flag operation and Matt scrawled the name on the back of his shirt at Reading Festival. In the years following 9/11 there was a lot of fear and paranoia, and it was a fundamentally different climate in 2006. The far right-wing conspiracy theorist groups that got trump elected in 2016 were not a large vocal force back then, and Alex Jones was not yet infamous for his batshit antics. He was just a guy who asked some questions about 9/11 that Matt Bellamy found interesting, so he chatted with him on the phone. Matt even had to ask in the interview if he was on the air iirc, so Jones didn’t even give him warning before putting him on. All I ask is that you try to consider these facts before recontextualizing your opinion on Matt Bellamy and his work, ESPECIALLY pre-2006. Thanks for a fun stream (until the interview)

It's pretty crazy how badly conspiracy theories have aged and the way they've become politicized. In 2006 I bet you most leftists believed in 9/11 theories, because they were direct accusations of evil against a right wing administration and war machine.
I remember my step dad watching some early Alex Jones stuff on RUToday, around 2006-2007 or so. Honestly, at that time he wasn't that bad - not too sure what he's like these days but I don't really want to know given what I've briefly seen in this comment section. I remember the dude discussing cryptocurrency and convincing people to invest, when bitcoin was only like 60GBP per unit. I don't think anyone can call that a bad shout considering the value that's at now.
With the "Spotify with hifi headphones" comment: they were saying you should be using a higher fidelity streaming service. Because the highest quality audio Spotify offers is nowhere near the fidelity you get on something like Tidal or Qobuz premium subscriptions. Spotify just straight up is not good enough if you actually have good headphones and want the truest sound, which you do. They weren't saying the headphones were the problem. It's that you weren't using them to their full potential. Love the channel though.

Just wanted to stop by to say that your album review format is very unique, if not one of the most unique among this platform, and even though sometimes you seem to have severe ADHD by the way you constantly stop songs, at the end of the day I have a very enjoyable time and many good laughs watching these longer videos (I usually don't), plus looking at albums I already like from a different point of view usually makes me enjoy them more (like how it's been with your OoS video). Your honesty is seriously admirable.
Interesting... this is the first review of yours I've disagreed with. It took a few listens for me to like the album or even be able to tell which track was which... but now I love it and can look past the mixing. I still feel like it could have been shorter, blackout completely kills the vibe... but I just don't have the same criticisms you do.

I’m curious what his thoughts on Showbiz are. That album was a bit of a shrug for me but I think that’s the one that spawned the Radiohead comparisons since that album is a lot more introverted than Muse’s other works.
Having recently discovered your channel, i notice that the back and forth between throwing statements left and right upon first listen and then retracting a lot in these post-video cuts, is the reason that music is tough to judge at first listen (like perhaps a movie or tv show can be judged at first glance). Also, pausing a song every few seconds does not do you or the song any favors. I understand it's a stream though.

It took me like 6 months of listening (I had a friend that was very into them and pushed them onto me) for Muse to really click for me. They're definitely a "grow on you" sort of band. I thought they were like a crappy Queen rip-off to begin with, haha. Now I really appreciate them.

I grew up a massive muse fan. And I still love their first four albums. Despite that, I love your reviews. And I’ve gotta tip my hat, your sense of humor is very creative. I embarrassingly found Muse through twilight. Where the author lists them as her muse 😜. This was the album I listened too, I loved it. But it definitely didn't age well for me similar to the book. I did not ever look at Muses other albums though. Interested to see if they're good. Time to make a full circle.
i had a friend that got into them through twilight lol but if you genuinely liked absolution id recommend listening to origin of symmetry which in my opinion still holds up and is muse at their best, though its heavier and darker, so if thats not your cup of tea then try black holes album (if you dont like anything from either of those then muse isn't for you id say) hope this helps!

thank god you're talking about how bad the mixing is, i've been listening to this album since like 2008 and it feels so good to hear another person saying this, even more when you got the whole r/muse talking about how perfect these early albums are, i fucking love these albums, imo the first 3 muse albums are the best but i've always had a problem with the mixing. (btw the mixing in showbiz imo is a lot more alive and uncompressed, and i think part of that is that they were being helped by an actual professinal music producer and weren't making the music on their own).
Also this is a good reason why a lot of muse fans tend to listen to the live version proclaming that they are amazing live wich is true but it also means that the version in the album is so poorly mixed.
Totally! That's why I personally really like Showbiz over this one (OOS is first). It sounds really organic and that gives it the ability to transmit more energy thru it. This album is great but the mixing is definitely a " choice " than what would've elevated the compositions.
Good content, as always. Could you maybe do a Dream Theater or Polyphia reaction in the future? I would recommend 'Images and Words' from the former and any album from the latter.

If he actually wanted to review it properly, he would’ve done it alone (not on a live stream) he wouldn’t have paused to interupt the song, and rather than focusing on things irrelevant to the song’s worth like production quality, he would’ve focused more on the poetic symbolism behind the lyrics and the mood each song conveys. I know Muse is good cause they’re a band I’d gladly listen to just for the sake of listening. How many people do you know who actually do this with other artists, especially mainstream aritists? Probably not many, and it’s cause hardly anyone values true music anymore. They just want something to play in the background while they work or party or whatever just so there’s no silence. Wow, this is one of my favourite albums ever. I will say I thought it was interesting you liked ‘Around the Fur’ but wasn’t a fan of the heavier tracks of Absolution. To me, they seemed very influenced by Deftones.
So, now this is weird. Brad is unpredictably biased. After watching a few of his videos, I realized that he likes heavy, energetic, groove songs. And when I played his reaction to Absolution by Muse, I thought he would really like Stockholm Syndrome. I thought so after his reaction to the Arctic Monkeys debut album, but what was my surprise when he openly mocked the song and compared it to B.Y.O.B. And going back to Arctic Monkeys, there's a Riot Van song on that debut album, it's slow so I thought he wouldn't like it. But surprise surprise, Brad abruptly changed his shoes and praised the song. He contradicts himself by changing his opinion from video to video. What the heck?

I just want to say I apologise for bringing up the terror storm thing in the chat, i didnt really think it was that much of a big deal considering how small it is, sure if the interview were a few years later than yeah it would've been mega yikes. Matt isn't a person to fall into far right conspiracies/alt right pipelines, his stance was more on mistrust of US imperialism and capitalist structures like the military industrial complex. He's more of a left leaning libertarian/socialist and retracted his statements in 2012 fully, he doesn't believe in conspiracies anymore considering how much of a shit show they've become over the past 10 years, sure conspiracies have always been a shitshow but 2010-2020s level reached peak idiocy/far right bs. In fact wotp is about criticizing far right conspiracism. Also, absolution wasn't necessarily written as a 9/11 album, sure that may have come to mind but really the meaning behind the album picks up from the atheist anti-organised religious stance in oos closer megalomania with songs like thoughts of a dying atheist, apocalypse please and fury especially. Considering this album has songs which very much look at religion in society and spirituality on a more ground level, it's really just about coping with chaos and nihilism etc. not the terror storm bs. Black Holes is indeed very much about the imperialism discussed earlier and is very anti-bush/blair with songs like take a bow, assassin, city of delusion and soldier's poem, even KoC critiques neoliberal ideology by implementing a more socialist stance. The truth is matt is indeed an insane, paranoid person but he isn't the flat earth, anti-vaxx "liberal agenda" kind of conspiracist, his conspiracism was just more involved in anti-iraq war sentiments and mk ultra, which are both against American imperialism, sure the idea of a conspiracy theory are flawed and how the concept of illuminati in fact reinforces capitalist structures rather than critiquing it, which is why i'm glad matt's out of the conspiracy phase.

On a serious note though, it is indeed important to consider that people change and their ideological focus can change too. A lot of us are attracted to some pretty extreme ideas when we're younger that we grow out of, or begin to accept the facts about and move on.
It's also pretty important to note that Alex Jones's show had a less cult-like vibe back in 2006 than it has for the last decade. Before he leaned fully into right-wing punditry, he was casting a wider antiestablishment net, and his ideas reached more people than just your stereotypical Facebook right-winger. I wouldn't see an appearance on Alex Jones in 2006 as an endorsement of 2022 Alex Jones's views.

As someone who thinks Muse easily haven’t made a good record since 2009, Stockholm Syndrome and this album in general, are absurdly good. If you dislike Absolution, you kinda dislike several core aspects of Muse (which is fair). Also, Matt’s vocal distortion is iconic to this era of the band. There’s like 5x more vocal distortion in Hysteria’s live performances and it’s fucking sick lol

As for absolution, I’ve never understood why so many see it as their best album, because for me origin of symmetry is the most complete album and doesn’t drag at all, whereas absolution feels like it’s dragging at points.
The 2nd law had some bangers (wolstenholme singing was awesome and the whole album had a very strong purpose), drones was a great rock album tbf, and Simulation Theory was a meh for me. Wotp was just a disappointment bc I knew they could do better and weren't even trying.

I still adore Stockholm Syndrome. The chorus is probably one of my favorite things in it with its Final Fantasy Prelude music background. Also brings back completely unrelated memories of a really cool game i used to play.

For Radiohead, Paranoid Android, Airbag, Electioneering, Just, Fake Plastic Trees, 2 + 2 = 5, Bodysnatchers, and Jigsaw Falling into Place are a couple of my favourite songs ever (im sure theres more). For muse, Space Dementia, New Born, Fury, Assassin, Glorious, Unnatural Selection, Yes Please, even Reapers and KOBK are right up there too. After Showbiz, they really werent that similar to what Radiohead was doing at all. They were just similar enough to where you can like both bands (unless you are actively trying to dislike them) They both grow on you, they both have some truly extraordinary songs, and two of arguably the best and most influential bands of their generation.

I think Stockholm syndromes production suits the vibe it’s going for quite well. The chorus is the constant beating of drums, bass, and guitar, overpowered by the softer piano and synth, with an almost tender melody from the vocals. I think it fits the conflicted nature of the song.
It’s a good contrast to the guitar and drum favoring parts before it, imo.

I for example adore the song "i wanna be your dog" by the stooges, and the production is everything but perfect, but the roughness adds to the beauty of it. Same for alot of clash songs for me: you could argue the production ain't there... but i don't want it there !

About the mood thing: yes, and that makes it better. It adds extra context to have both a in-the-moment "human" resction and a "robo" post facto. Often the final robo version is what we see in most reviews, but what i think is so valuable in these videos is seeing the process and not just the conclusion. Being able to compare viewpoints with both the emotional and the rational is a great resource!
The "robo" version of the review being, for example, mr melon explaining his well-thought out thoughts after relistening 10x. Even if you tell me about your first time experience, it's different from actually seeing that first experience, and the fact you include it in the "robo" version means you had to intentionally include it

This was the first album that I listened to by then when I was 14. My brother gave it to me, and I didn't have lyrics. Half of them I couldn't even understand, but I interpreted his lyric choice as more of how the words sounded when sung VS what they actually meant. I was entranced by most of it, but over time, little teen me ended up downloading every single song by them including alternate recordings and isolated instrument tracks so I could learn them on guitar. I even tried learning the live variations. The new stuff is pretty goofy, but I applaud them for trying new things constantly. I always go back to Showbiz, OOS, and Hullaboo and all of the B-Sides when I want to feel 15 again. There's something really space-horror about old Muse, and I'm a sucker for space-horror anything.

This reaction feels like a strange turn from the last one. Brad had a really good attitude going into OOS but in this video he goes in seemingly fully expecting it to suck and he seems unwilling to listen to the music on its own terms. Muse has like 9 albums and while yes I do think WOTP is ass I don't know why Brad thinks Muse falling off was something that happened over the span of one album. There's still a lot of great stuff in between OOS and WOTP. I like brad's videos a lot but this was a frustrating watch.

This doesn't nullify the criticisms on the production of the album, but I'm pretty sure the band only had a few days to mix the entire thing. I'm really hoping for a 20th aniversary remix of this like they did with oos. or even better, a rerecording.

I’d hope that they have the audio files laying around somewhere for the individual vocals instrumentals etc. If that’s the case they can work with the individual components of each song and the product would sound excellent. With the exception of adding stuff that wasn’t supposed to be there, they did an awesome job with the OOS remaster. I have faith they’d make the Absolution remaster just as good.
iirc it was actually OoS that they only had a few days to mix - I believe Matt said so in an interview about the 20th anniversary remix of OoS, but it could have also been the case for Absolution

muse really grows on you, i remember when i listened to this album for the first time (2021) i was quick to shrug it off, not really feeling anything it offered me, but it's slowly and surely affirming itself as a staple in my daily routine. though origin of symmetry is definitely wilder, this one is more intentional, but still as consistently good. the sobriety of this album leads to some of muse's most emotional and well written bits in their discography. also really good for gym.
Brad, please don’t try to connect this album’s lyrics to the Alex Jones conspiracy stuff. This album came out in 2003, and Matt didn’t really start going down that rabbit hole until the next album Black Holes & Revelations in ‘06. Please try to evaluate Absolution separately, because when he wrote it, he was not as obsessed with conspiracy theories as he became shortly after. And even then, don’t confuse this fascination with right-wing politics. He’s a leftist with some libertarian attributes. He was only on Alex Jones’ show because he was fascinated by his documentary Terror Storm about 9/11 being a false flag operation and Matt scrawled the name on the back of his shirt at Reading Festival. In the years following 9/11 there was a lot of fear and paranoia, and it was a fundamentally different climate in 2006. The far right-wing conspiracy theorist groups that got trump elected in 2016 were not a large vocal force back then, and Alex Jones was not yet infamous for his batshit antics. He was just a guy who asked some questions about 9/11 that Matt Bellamy found interesting, so he chatted with him on the phone. Matt even had to ask in the interview if he was on the air iirc, so Jones didn’t even give him warning before putting him on. All I ask is that you try to consider these facts before recontextualizing your opinion on Matt Bellamy and his work, ESPECIALLY pre-2006. Thanks for a fun stream (until the interview)

With the "Spotify with hifi headphones" comment: they were saying you should be using a higher fidelity streaming service. Because the highest quality audio Spotify offers is nowhere near the fidelity you get on something like Tidal or Qobuz premium subscriptions. Spotify just straight up is not good enough if you actually have good headphones and want the truest sound, which you do. They weren't saying the headphones were the problem. It's that you weren't using them to their full potential. Love the channel though.

Just wanted to stop by to say that your album review format is very unique, if not one of the most unique among this platform, and even though sometimes you seem to have severe ADHD by the way you constantly stop songs, at the end of the day I have a very enjoyable time and many good laughs watching these longer videos (I usually don't), plus looking at albums I already like from a different point of view usually makes me enjoy them more (like how it's been with your OoS video). Having recently discovered your channel, i notice that the back and forth between throwing statements left and right upon first listen and then retracting a lot in these post-video cuts, is the reason that music is tough to judge at first listen (like perhaps a movie or tv show can be judged at first glance). I embarrassingly found Muse through twilight. Where the author lists them as her muse 😜. This was the album I listened too, I loved it. But it definitely didn't age well for me similar to the book. I did not ever look at Muses other albums though. Interested to see if they're good. Time to make a full circle.
i had a friend that got into them through twilight lol but if you genuinely liked absolution id recommend listening to origin of symmetry which in my opinion still holds up and is muse at their best, though its heavier and darker, so if thats not your cup of tea then try black holes album (if you dont like anything from either of those then muse isn't for you id say) hope this helps!

The lyrics are almost gibberish in English, and I think the words are chosen because of how they sound when they are sung.

thank god you're talking about how bad the mixing is, i've been listening to this album since like 2008 and it feels so good to hear another person saying this, even more when you got the whole r/muse talking about how perfect these early albums are, i fucking love these albums, imo the first 3 muse albums are the best but i've always had a problem with the mixing. (btw the mixing in showbiz imo is a lot more alive and uncompressed, and i think part of that is that they were being helped by an actual professinal music producer and weren't making the music on their own).
Also this is a good reason why a lot of muse fans tend to listen to the live version proclaming that they are amazing live wich is true but it also means that the version in the album is so poorly mixed.
It's why Muse should be listened at a younger age when the concept of bad mixing is not present. For me Muse will always be a nostalgia trip.
I like the mixing of all their albums. They each have their own charm and unique qualities to them.
Totally! That's why I personally really like Showbiz over this one (OOS is first). It sounds really organic and that gives it the ability to transmit more energy thru it. This album is great but the mixing is definitely a " choice " than what would've elevated the compositions.

If he actually wanted to review it properly, he would’ve done it alone (not on a live stream) he wouldn’t have paused to interupt the song, and rather than focusing on things irrelevant to the song’s worth like production quality, he would’ve focused more on the poetic symbolism behind the lyrics and the mood each song conveys.
I know Muse is good cause they’re a band I’d gladly listen to just for the sake of listening. How many people do you know who actually do this with other artists, especially mainstream aritists? Probably not many, and it’s cause hardly anyone values true music anymore. They just want something to play in the background while they work or party or whatever just so there’s no silence.
If you want someone to think your opinion on music is actually worth something, don’t act like this guy.

Wow, this is one of my favourite albums ever. I will say I thought it was interesting you liked ‘Around the Fur’ but wasn’t a fan of the heavier tracks of Absolution. To me, they seemed very influenced by Deftones.
So, now this is weird. Brad is unpredictably biased. After watching a few of his videos, I realized that he likes heavy, energetic, groove songs. And when I played his reaction to Absolution by Muse, I thought he would really like Stockholm Syndrome. I thought so after his reaction to the Arctic Monkeys debut album, but what was my surprise when he openly mocked the song and compared it to B.Y.O.B. And going back to Arctic Monkeys, there's a Riot Van song on that debut album, it's slow so I thought he wouldn't like it. But surprise surprise, Brad abruptly changed his shoes and praised the song. He contradicts himself by changing his opinion from video to video. What the heck?

the production of the album sucks. It's a shame because the songs are great and live are a lot better. Maybe Muse songs are supposed to be listened live. I respect your opinion. One thing I don't like is that you talk during the song and you don't hear some details

Legitimately I think spotify messed with the original mix. Not just this album. A lot of them. The production on this album is fantastic.
It's a cliche thing to say, but I do really like Muse live more than their recordings on albums. Its just a lot more raw and powerful
