FILIPINO RICE GO-KART? Leaving Our Surf Beach House (Davao, Philippines)

- IT WAS TIME TO LEAVE OUR PHILIPPINES BEACH HOME IN CATEEL AND HEAD FOR DAVAO CITY... I DID NOT EXPECT TO STUMBLE UPON A UNIQUE RICE DRYING GO-KART!
The morning started out with some morning glossy waves. The local kids that Kumar has been training surf with over the years were out enjoying waves, and it was awesome to get some drone shots for them. After having a laugh with some silhigs, bugs, and ampalaya... we head off over the mountain road and make our way to Davao de Oro. Driving along the high way, we stumble upon a unique "Rice Drying Go-Kart". I'd never seen this style of machine anywhere in the Philippines before. I am leaving to go back into production, so this was the drive to Davao, with some stops along the way.
Oh! Also happy to stop by and see Bean O'Clock is still rocking it in Tagum!

This is the first time that I saw something like that, a motorized rake. Very creative and smart!
That pang ukayay is innovative who ever invented it. Makes difference into the rice farmer who use to ukay the rice grain to dry under the hot sun using a rake or kinda lil square bord to dry the rice before. That's amazingly smart saving time, out from the burning hot sun. And makes the rice dried fastest and lot more easier to ukay the rice grain . Filipino really is a real engineer 😊 kudos for those who invented it u made every farmers life easier. ❤

You gotta love Filipino ingenuity. Surplus army jeeps become popular public transport, single motorcycles can be modified to accommodate at least five people, and a hand tractor motor becomes another form of transport or an ingenious machine for drying humay.

Sakto ka nga Kuliglig siya because the engine is like the one in motorbancas. There used to be many kuligligs but after the tricabs (bao bao) arrived, they were replaced.
We eat those when we were kids in ilocaon we call it abal-abal

We used to play with salagubang when I was a kid..we tie them with string and let it fly..you might be be bashed if you do it now ✌️
A motorized rice rake isn't something one would see everyday so it's quite a unique invention haha.
Funny when you mentioned that "Afam" can also also refer to fair-skinned filipinos as they sometimes use that term on mestizos as well as someone who is speaking from experience haha, as I have sometimes been called that term, as well as "amerkano" or people sometimes walking up to me and asking me in english, only to become surprised when I reply in bisaya; I sometimes humor them though and also reply in english.
That insect is called salagubang in tagalog. It's an exotic for some provinces, no kidding. 😂
I remember when I was a kid. My brothers and I would play with a salagubang while it flies with a thread we tied to its body. It was a fun memory while growing up in the province.
