    Some people are actually highly more sensitive to the taste and smell of food because of genetic variation. Super tasters are generally more reactive. Taste buds also vary from person to person; some have too little while others have too much that they cannot stomach coffee or beer. I'm the latter but enjoy super flavorful food and also simple ones that allow me to taste the actual ingredients.i can't handle durian though but I love stinky cheeses 😅
    I wasn't aware of our taste buds complexity until I went to med school.

    That is the real bagoong wil, what you know is called alamang here in laguna, alamang is krills/little shrimp, bagoong is fish.

    Pudra is absolutely correct.😂😂😂. Because when you eat durian your body feel hot. You feel hot. Durian is an energy food. And yes, winey and bitter taste durian, that's that kind that we have. It is native, organic, not cultured one. If in season we sell and most customers would look for it because of its taste.

    As a Dabawenyo who still doesnt eat durian, kudos to will and his father. Also, kouign aman is not really a local food. My 1st taste of this pastry was way back in 2016 at the Podium mall. It just became popular here in Davao when a local shop started selling it last year i think.

    Pinakbet is "HOW" you cooked the vegetable. Pakbet is the name of the dish. Its like adobo, if you have a meat and someone will ask you, "how did you cooked it?" you can say "INADOBO ko sya". Same goes with Kaldereta, = kinaldereta. etc

      That makes sense. But I usually just use pinakbet as the name of the dish. Maybe because I only know one set of vegetables you can cook as pinakbet

      Pinakbet is the formal name of the dish, pakbet is its shortened name but is also accepted..you would know thart if you're an ilocano because pinakbet and pakbet is an ilocano word. Haan ka nga talanggutang nga talanggutang nu dimo ammo ti sawsawem, MAAWATAM?

    I can’t thank you enough for such interactive video, a perfect food influencer/vlogger who would dare taste anything and everything new to you walang arte. I’m appreciating the durian portion cuz didn’t know they have different varieties and that made me want to try it again.     Pinakbet, inadobo, kinilaw, hinalang sounds to me like the process. Pakbet, adobo, kilawin, halang makes it the product. Probably.

    I agree that durian doesn't smell bad. I think you described it well as a strong fruity smell. But, Pudra's answer was the best at 14:48 .... hahaha! 🤣😆🤣

      Durian dont ever smell bad. It is just Psychological. Because they keep hearing how it smells bad. P
      Fact is, Durian is expensive in most cities, especially in Manila. So people who cant afford it, just bash it. No doubt that ice cream is heavenly.

      Over nman na ang durian sa davao umaabot ng 600 kilos hindi kopa yan nakita dito sa davao na umaabot ng 600 per kilo kahit hindi pa season ng durian..over mgsalita..walang durian dito sa davao na umaabot ng 600..over na over😂😂

    Kilawen is a ilokano word means 'eat raw' and pinakbet is from the word pinakebbet means 'pinakulobot' in tagalog. pakbet in other word pakebbet same meaning in pinakbet

    I was confused when they called "alamang", "bagoong". In our part of the Philippines we call shrimp past just "alamang". Fish paste is "bagoong". I googled it, and both are bagoong.

    Same here, I also don't understand the fuss with durian. I get headaches with any scent of perfumes/colognes, but durian's smell for me is heaven... and the taste, yumm murag ice cream na super creamy! Oh, how I miss durian and Davao!

    Pinakbet is an ilocano dish derived from the ilocano word "pinakibbet" which means "to shrink", we ilocanos cook to shrink our pinakbet vegetables, pakbet is also accepted as a shortened name for pinakbet.

    I hate cilantro, because it tastes like soap to me. I am very sensitive to boar taint in pork and if there's even a hint of it, I can't eat it. I can not eat goat for the same reason: the gamey smell.
    But I love durian.

    I don't like the smell, but I like the taste...
    To eat durian I put it in the freezer and eat... there is no smell and it was good Dude...

    Kilawin and kinilaw are the same, the former being the tagalog term and the latter the Visayan term. In Bisaya, however, the goat kinilaw is called kilawin hence the confusion.
