In Russia some people use Yandex Browser which has translation of a video feature. Which creates basically a dub of video ‘s audio in, for example - Russian language. On my own experience it does job quite accurately. I seen a lot of my russian friends use it.

И наши "бородатые" шутки про стену и футболку надо воспринимать, как встречу со старым хорошим другом, с которым давно не виделся, и при встрече с которым вы вспоминаете яркие моменты вашего общего прошлого. А если серьёзно, то Павел всегда относился с уважением к пользователям своих продуктов. Это выражалось в том числе и в процессе монетизации VK. Монетизация VK времён Паши никогда не блокировала использование сервиса, не была такой всеобъемлющей и навязчивой, как в ОК. И в Telegram сейчас я вижу то же самое. Уважение, а не желание срубить побольше бабла всеми способами и побыстрее. Ну а про редкую сейчас возможность читать в Telegram разные точки и зрения и говорить нечего. Спасибо, Павел!

I never use Telegram. Mainly because it does not work simply through PC (all my PCs are the cheapest, no apples here. :D). I do use other platforms that are easy to use from my cell (no apps though), PC, or laptop. I use sometimes VK, not too often. It is not always easy to get there. Just saying. I am a regular educator in the USA.
What a fascinating interview! Pavel clearly thinks differently from other tech founders. It’s good to see.

The story of how the Russian government tried to block telegrams was not told here. Their programmers put a bunch of sites, including a number of government sites. And after a few days of unsuccessful war, they said "we allow telegrams in Russia." As if they had a choice 😂😂😂

After six years of use, I can honestly say that Telegram is the best independent messaging app. I've always been curious about the founder, so it's amazing to finally see such a fantastic interview.

Why he wasnt killed by KGB/FSB like other opposition in Russia? I am talking about very influential opposition. Social networks are very powerful tools for politicians. KGB killed for lesser power, but in this case they suddenly let this man go. If you search, you will find a lot cases with leaks from telegram. How people (from russian opposition) were tracked using telegram, how channels opposed to russian government were suddenly shut down. Also this interview doesnt cover uncomfortable questions about money in telegram. Who sponsored telegram development, whom these sponsors are connected to (answer Putin & Trump). Those questions were "answered" by Durov saying that he had enough money and used them all. Where he got this money? From selling VK. Who bought VK? Why he was given this choice when other opposition was imprisoned until they gave up their holdings. He is close to KGB. And in this interview he is gaslighting US, high chance because he was ordered to do so.
He continues the deed of KGB/FSB of endangering West world. Are you proud of that?

Why we should not to? Durov made a vk, and everybody who was born since 90s loves him due to the only social network that was in Russia those times. I remember that all people almost automatically after the registration followed him, and read his posts. He always was a public figure and he was neutral to politic sides, but everyone always felt that he loves Russia in his own way, and he always in touch with us in his Russian channel
personally I am surprised there are not more.
He was able to create a social network VK which was a nearly copy-paste of Facebook - and somehow was/is way better than the Facebook.
He is well known programmer and proud of him. Also the fact that he is fighting for our privacy and freedom against government makes us greeting for him

That said, I must add that some degree of surveillance is necessary to maintain peace. The best defense against acts of terror is proactive, not reactive. With complete adherence to people's right to privacy, this simply cannot be done.
With true privacy, you immediately get black markets for illegal substances, services and materials. What we need is trust in the one who reads from the shadows. That's where the reform needs to happen.

I wonder what he would achieve and how he would feel about glorious free market if he was raised in the 90s in Russia by poor parents somewhere away from big cities like Saint Petersburg.

6) his special place had special people that had plenty of capital to invest in Durov’s startup.

Mikhail Lomonosov - just a russian guy from way way much darker times who was born in a distant-ish region of a country, in a small village, had poor family and etc. But he developed a strong passion for knowledge at some point in life, so he traveled on foot through huge part of Russia until he reached Saint Petersburg, where he spent huge part of his life researching every single field of science, was inventing stuff, created universities and so on. Man from bad background became one of the greatest scientists of all time. Human with proper Idea in mind is way stronger than bad conditions surrounding him.

С мясом не понимаю. Мы не травоядные чтобы жить без мяса. Даже у крупных травоядных типа коров есть 4 камеры в желудке, в которых живёт аж несколько килограммов бактерий, которые по сути, перерабатывают поступающую растительность и выдают белковую массу, которую уже всасывают органы коровы, то есть корова не получает необходимые вещества из самой растительности.
