Great video, I went on a LR Experience with the new Defender it was a great car but I found the faffing about with the 4x4 settings made things extra busy whilst off roading. The getting out of the car is very common whilst green laning to open and close gates.... as well as saving squirrels.. :-)
Hi 🙋♀️ very interesting 🧐 but I noticed is this mode settings is 👀 same as Range Rover but operating system is a different option like can’t 🔐 in one ☝️ settings every time need to reset . I think 🤔 you done ✅ very good 😌 video to alert people to check mode after in and out. Thanks 🙏 Great 😊 video
Very helpful video. The challenge is remembering which buttons to press in the stressful moment when the vehicle is hanging over the edge of a cliff, or when suddenly encountering some deep sticky mud. I suppose the ‘Auto’ setting is going to be the most reliable setting for coping with a dynamically changing terrain..
Yes the Auto button is good but it only reacts to what it has already seen - the drive can react and select terrain response to suit what is coming up !
Just made a 500 mile drive in snow and ice and i wasn't impressed (although it wasn't awful) with the way my '22 defender 110 P400 handled the slippery roads. Watched this video, put it in auto and well...the difference was quite obvious. I assumed the ridiculous amount i paid for the terrain response 2 would automatically select the best mode - had no idea i had to select auto first.
As all the buttons are electronic. I would like to be able to configure everything on the screen. For example. Atpc. Why is this not a big option on the screen.
Best Review ever for all the advanced off road features!! well done. well done!! and thank you. :) do you have a video on active differential using torque vectoring while braking, as well? also , if i understand correctly terrain response 2 auto mode is only activated when you select it and not always on?! am i right? :)
Yes TR2 ( Auto ) is only on when selected - apparently for emissions the car must default to standard mode so cannot just be in AUTO all the time - although this would actually be a good plan !
We just got back from driving a trail, and we watched this video beforehand. However, on this Defender (ZA), the TR switches back to Comfort Mode from all settings, even the Auto and Configurable modes as well! Difference in software versions perhaps?
from the Defender2.net forum: "Someone from the infotainment and UI development team at JLR replied on FB to my query about the above issue (the TR always defaulting back to Comfort mode after an ignition cycle.) It's an emissions testing requirement (not sure in which country - probably more than one.) The rules mandate that a vehicle always has to start in the same conditions used for such tests. So, there. It's something we'll have to learn to live with."
What happens if you’re in Configurable TR and get out to help the squirrel, does it stay in CTR?? Is CTR suited for off-road only or can I make this the Daily Drive profile?
Yes the off road capability pack means the car basically chooses which terrain response mode you should be in by itself... as such there is not any extra differential etc ( as i understand it )
Not necessarily, and it depends on situation and terrain. Picking "Less wheel spin" ultimately means ETC (Traction Control) would kick in sooner whenever it senses one or more of your wheels start to lose traction. That could be helpful under some off-road scenarios, but in many instances the early intervention of the ETC "nanny" to limit wheel spin could actually kill momentum when, say, attempting to climb a slippery (wet, sandy, etc.) slope, causing you to bog down instead of overpowering the slope and making it to the top.
You said your default mode is comfort. Is it possible to change the default mode to something like Mud and Ruts, and if so would it then not default to Mud and Ruts in the event of a squirrel rescue procedure?
Quick two questions, how do you have ATPC on an S model variant without the rear locker? Do you think it's possible to have ATPC fitted after delivery of the vehicle has taken place? Thanks for the content
Hi Zac ... i am not sure but it may be because i added the off road capability pack ? I think that ATPC could be added in software but Land Rover will not do this... I did ask .. they are very keen to keep the vehicles in "original specification" but i think they could mis out on a lot of potential income / customer engagement.
Good Luck when all this goes wrong. Inchcape Landrover have had four attempts at fixing the squealing brakes on my Freelander (when reversing with no success
@@MK-bg3nb No i cannot notice any change in note - i have fitted the V8 exhaust now and that made little difference in noise - and again when selecting sport with the V8 exhaust there is no noticeable change ( shame ). What i do notice is that on start up it has some sort of "choke" and it is much louder then.
True.. i got a v8 on order And think I'm going to go to a P400 engine because its not worth it all i get in addition is “dynamic mode” that changes the noise a little bit
@@MK-bg3nb Did you watch my latest videos on the v8 exhaust ? the v8 models are selling for a big premium in the UK right now and its a great engine but purchase cost is $$$ but you also need to consider the resale value of the V8 and the P400..

I love your videos. I’ve had a Defender on order for three months now and should be getting mine any day now. These videos have been very informative.
Hi James.... hope the videos help you to enjoy your new car ! We are still learning about the car everyday !

An explanation of the Low Range mode would also be helpful.
Very informative and helpful video, thanks
Is the "low speed cruise" ATPC mode something that is standard on the defender?
so glad you saved the squirrel ...

For off-roading, less wheel spin is much better than more wheel spin...so would less wheel spin allow for better traction vs off-road mode?
