  • The Cogy chair is driven entirely by pedal power. And it can even be used by people who are severely paralysed.

It was designed in Japan for people with mobility problems. Because you only need a small amount of leg strength to get it moving, it can help with rehabilitation and provide independence.

Unbelievable! I was just discussing this type of 'people mover' with a friend! Awesome. I broke my back a number of years ago, and my doctors told me that as I got older I would most likely wind up needing a wheelchair - This 'Cogi' could keep me active, while still enabling me to be relatively pain free! Awesome idea! Thanks!

Beside all the “ stupid “ comment I can read here , this is amazing for people with mobility problems 🙏🏻. Anything that can help people to have more independence and freedom is worth trying , also because the positive mental boost can have an unimaginable impact on the whole problem and help them heal or even improve a bit . Small step are the most precious ones ❤🙏🏻

Interesting. I first heard visit this and thought, “it’s a wheel chair!! What idiot thought it was a good idea to add pedals?” I was wrong. The premise makes sense and the product has value. Difficulty balancing + weak leg strength = leg muscle atrophy from lack of exercising the legs. Negate the need to balance + pedaling throughout the day = leg exercises.

I love my cogy! I faint really easily, but my legs work fine, so it gives me a good way to move and still get exercise without worrying about falling and hurting myself.

I specifically looked up “pedal powered wheelchair” because I thought: “Wouldn’t it be funny if someone made one of these for a joke?”
Now I feel kinda silly but I also got to learn something new.

Obviously there are some very rude people out there who have never had mobility issues. 🤬
I walk with a cane partly because my knees are bad but also I have severe balance issues. I can see myself possibly in something like this as opposed to using one of those little electric mobility scooters in my future.
If you watch the man with Parkinson’s you can see that mobility is a problem because he has to take such tiny steps. Even a regular walker would not help him because he can’t move forward quickly enough.
My cousin has cerebral palsy and because the muscles in his lower leg constrict one of his legs he’s always walking on tiptoe. He has enough strength but it severely limited his balance. This would’ve been wonderful for him.
