• All my friends are on Xbox
• I've always been on Xbox so I wouldn't change to PlayStation as I like to continue building my gamer score and I prefer the controller
• The Switch has great exclusives

I'm mainly a PC gamer so most of the games I need are on PC except for the few Halos and Uncharteds, but Switch really stood out for me, both for the type of console it is and I just find the library it has in comparison to others more interesting and different.

I liked this video. I originally came here for Switch insight, but you’re growing on me. Minor thing: I’m a huge racing sim fam coming from a long history of Sony consoles. It’s been a long time, however, since folks like us have had a good Gran Turismo. Forza has been superior for several game cycles now. In fact, it was the reason I decided to buy my first Microsoft console, the Xbox One S. Worth every penny. I’m also a fighting game fan so the PS4 still gets plenty of play. But even after GT Sport’s lackluster release I still find myself revising my Xbox for the best current console driving experience. Oh, and it’s got the best controller I’ve ever felt. Odd to feel this way after so many years.

If I have time to sit in front of my TV and play a game, it'll always be my PS4, so I use my Switch exclusively as a high end portable console, and would still say it's worth it for someone that needs something to fill the gap on the go or really any gamer with a busy lifestyle that might not have the time to game as much as they used to. The Switch doesn't feel like a compromise between function and form, which is absolutely incredible for an on the go gaming experience.
I have a base model PS4 and a Switch, and just picked up a PC to upgrade in my spare time. I also have a snes classic. My set up is ideal because it has :
A little bit of everything
A PS4 for shooters, multiplayer with friends
A Switch for those single players
A snes for throwback
A PC for everything else

PS4: edgy shooters and sports games + Sony’s few amazing exclusives
Switch: to utilize the hybrid functionality so you can play the few third party games but mostly Nintendo’s fantastic first party games but also bring those home console experiences anywhere.
PC: Play your games at the best quality possible. Most of them are indie or competitive shooters or MOBA’s.
PC + Switch + PS4 owner here, and I'm a hardcore PC enthusiast since birth.

As a member of the PC Master race, I would like to say that we also consider Nintendo a viable option, as rather than ripping each other off over minor improvements for very few exclusive games (Xbox and PS) Nintendo makes unique, fun to play things. I even have 2 copies of shovel Knight, the switch and the steam version. Plus the switch is portable so it has been on all my trips since I bought it.
Plus, the money I save through steam sales and not buying consoles, means I can upgrade my PC. So far it is 2 times more powerful than the Xbox one S and PS4. PC is for people who don't mind tinkering, and staying behind the power curve for a year or so, but if you keep invesing in PC, it gets more powerful over time, and cheaper overall compared to rebuying consoles every 4 years.

Absolute nonsene IMO. Look I spent +$1k on a rig back in 2013, since early 2017 I'm struggling to play the latest games on med-high settings, I need to upgrade but GPU prices are absolute fucking insane because of crypto miners, and you can say it's just a fad but others will suggest otherwise. PC gaming is no longer this opportune area where you can spend little for a lot if you know your hardware, the market is completely fucked now and consoles are more than viable options, you WILL NOT get close to a capable PC comparable to a XB1-X performance for the same money, the times have shifted back, consoles are back in the driving seat and PC gaming is extortionate. The PS4 came out in 2013 you imbecile, so how does upgrading consoles every 4 years make any sense? The pro and XB1-X are not new console generations they're re-iterations geared at 4k, the PS3 is a fairer example and it's life cycle lasted for ~7-8 years.
I'm honestly about to scale back my PC into a work tool and pick up a PS4, there are so many great games for it that you can't play on PC and with the perks of zero headache gaming, pick up and play. Also if you pay any attention to the market you'll notice PS4 games are dirt cheap and steam sales are fucking trash these days, all in all PC gaming is not what it once was and will remain to be a complete luxury when you can spend 250 bucks on a PS4 and have it last for years if you so choose. PCMR idiots have no argument anymore, I am one of them and I admit this, so cut the shit.
People also always compare a console price, while the console is just a part of a total set you need to game, to the whole pc price. People never take into consideration that you also need to spend money on a TV, and they also never think about the fact that most people already own a laptop/pc or would also buy a pc/laptop in addition to a console. To be able to game on a 900 dollar rig would not cost you 900 dollars, but just the difference between that and the rig you would buy anyways. If you would add up the console pricing of 400 bucks to the money you would already spend on a pc/laptop (4-500 bucks?), you would end up with a rather nice pc that would be able to do a fair amount of gaming while only spending the same amount of extra money/just a little bit more as when you would buy a console.
Obviously it varies on an individual use case scenario. We can assume, however that the vast majority of people who have an interest in A/V entertainment already own a television... And even if not you could say the same for having to buy a monitor for a PC. You could ALSO say that one who has a PC as a workstation would also already own a monitor, which you could use as a display for a console, so I don't buy that kind of biased narrative sorry. As I've already pointed out, PS4 games can be had for very very good deals, while in 2018 Steam is riddled with poison and the famous Steam sales are no longer anything to write home about. Furthermore, the accessibility factor weighs heavily in the favor of console gaming, some consider tinkering a blessing, I'd call it a headache - I had my phase with PC gaming and while it's nice to have options it's not always a good thing when you just want instant immersion.
I actually don't want a multi-purpose system where I do my gaming, it feels convoluted having my work, documents, media backups etc. being in the same place as my video-gaming outlet, and more often than not sitting at the same desk. Yes I know you can hook up a PC tower to a TV but when you're older and have more order in your life a low profile box next to the TV with wireless controllers as an entertainment/gaming source is much more streamlined, Valve's Steam machines idea never took off for many reasons, not least one because a PC by nature isn't a dedicated gaming platform, and with that comes unnecessary tinkering, bugs, booting into windows, and other immersion breaking experiences. The last straw is PC gaming no longer being this cool alternative, affordable option. The market has changed dramatically. I also firmly believe the next generation of consoles will drop paid online entirely.

PC + Switch is the best way to go, pc can emulate all of Nintendo's consoles except for the switch and can also emulate ps3 and xbox 360 for the exclusives. Gaming Laptop is really actually the best route if you are willing to pay more for the same hardware downgraded slightly.

Mine is 8 years old at this point and the hardware inside it, or equivilent performing hardware, isn't that expensive.
Sure you can go spend $3k on a PC in a heart beat.
Or you can spend $600 and get a PC more than powerful enough to run games well on medium settings.
The thing about a PC is, you don't need it all right now. Sure there are some components that effectively lock you in, but things like ram, cooling, mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, storage, and even gpu to an extent can all be easily changed or upgraded later when you have the money to.
You could get a good pc for 300 if you want the bare minimum to play anything above 30fps and run emulaters nicely, I would say 500-800 is the midrange it runs 60 fps minimum on most games and does emulation great and anything more is just too much power, if you want portable pc gaming then a laptop is the way to go and when you're home just connect it to your monitor or tv, you can get a whole pc setup for under a 1000$ (moniter,keyboard, mouse, and the pc)
byw missing the point of why someone would get a Switch as a companion console. Why get a low end PC instead of a Switch when the main selling point is portability and you already have a home console.

I've been wondering which ones to get so this helped me organize my priorities. But now I have another problem... Do I want the nintendo exclusives or the normal console games... Its a tough choice as if I buy a ps4 now, I won't be able to get all those sexy nintendo exclusives, and vice versa.

That's easy. Coming in 'new', just caring about games, you literally go to Wiki and count the number of games you like for Nintendo VS Sony, and the exclusives, and if there are, say, twice as many for Nintendo (which there should be), then you go with that one. On the other hand, if you only like FPS and RPG with great graphics, then you go with the PS4. P.S. I can go through the Wiki lists if you need to since I have the time and maybe you don't.

I’d say go for a PC if you can. If you can’t, then go for a PS4 over the Switch, unless you value portability a whole lot. The PS4 has a much bigger library, and *in my opinion*, greater exclusives; it is also much more powerful than the Switch, so you can play in higher settings.
For me, the only reason I see to get a Switch over XBox or PS4 is it’s portability. The only reason I see to get a XBox or PS4 over PC is because of it’s physical releases, and if you don’t know how to build a PC.
Here’s my priority list:
1. PC - Best performance and the most versatile.
2. PS4 - A great exclusive library (Even more so if you’re an Anime fan).
3. XBox/Switch - I put them both together as XBox has much better performance, but the Switch has portability. Both kind of lack in games.
If you still looking for a console a would say go for a pc you can at least emulate all the games from Wii U including Zelda breath of the wild (amazing game btw )and also get the Microsoft exclusive they are not the best but yeah is a pro . It’s a shame that I’m missing the ps4 exclusives that are so good but you know you can’t have it all
I don't suggest a PC unless you have a lot of money or know how to make your own rig. An average person can not make a PC better than a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X. The best consoles on the market are easier and cheaper than high-end gaming PCs. Also, Adrian, I think he wants a console, not a PC. I suggest the PS4 and Nintendo 3DS. Also, most Nintendo consoles are backward-compatible with lots of games. Just get a Wii/U.

Hey man new subscriber here. I think you hit the nail on the coffin between the consoles and pc. I own both ps4 and pc. Ps4 is my main gaming system do to the larger exclusive library but I do own a descent gaming laptop to play other games that you can't get anywear else or now that is also on xbox one. Hope to be picking up a switch soon as I haven't owned a Nintendo system since the GameCube era.

Well there sure is Bloodborne on PS4 but for the price of a PS4 pro you have a fairly good PC, There is PS now for the exclusives so there really isn't any reason to buy A PS4 other than reduce input lag in Bloodborne and maybe other few uninteresting exclusives. PC has games from Xbox and can play some PS4 games so why bother with a PS4? For VR?
Eytox nah ps4 pro is around $380-$400 (my country price, idk about US) I don’t think you will get a pc with that price that’s good enough for 5 years gaming. Also there are so much more exclusive games on ps4 than you thought (spider man, last of us, god of war, horizon, persona 5, gravity rush, infamous 2nd son..) and even some good games like rdr 2 aren’t available on pc. Besides that most of port game from consoles to pc are terrible (nier automata, YS VII...) I feel like since the past 5 years PC games went down dramatically (I think because of these cracks and torrent websites, not many company interested in PC anymore). :(
