The cut can be 1” or 1 ¼” we put 1 ¼” on video because it will make for an easier install at lap The video does show that installer does bury 1” however if you look at 2:52 mark that was to make 1” section for the step drill. You will need to allow 4 ¾” min to allow for elbow against the wall. As far as the black, all material does have a film installed prior to install. This film is removed and you can see when final cut is done all downspout is clean. Thank you for pointing all out. These comments help us in case we missed something.
