I used to walk in Omonia in the evenings... Nothing happened , thanks God. There are many countries which have such a dangerous streets. Thats okay. Love Greece and Greek people. 🇬🇪❤️🇬🇷
Im from Spain and I have to say this is completely true. Even though the streets are filled with addicts they are completely "harmless" you can have a walk through any street in Omonia even at night. It's very close to the center of the city of Athens and there's always lots of people passing by this people's
Compared to such places as Kensington area of Philadelphia, Seattle, and many other US cities this area is measurably not so bad. Not that I’d stroll through there at night or put it on my list of things to do.
I filmed in that area last summer... Immediately had BAD vibes and got the hell out of there! It's so close to the nice areas, you only need to go the wrong way for 5 minutes and you are already there.
I was working at a hotel in Omonia for a bit more than four years. The last two years I was starting my shift at 4 in the morning so I had to be on the street at around 3 in order to go to my work. I vividly remember the prostitutes rushing to the sides of my bike whenever the traffic lights turned red. Omonoia is dangerous but it allures me for some reason. I feel its like the city heart beatting.
Is it really that bad and dangerous to walk around Omonia? I am planning on traveling to Athens one day. When I search for trips that include flight and hotel on Expedia, the results show a cheap hotel, with good facilities and with good reviews located in Omonia. It’s called New Amaryllis Hotel and is located on Veranzerou street, near the square. It has all the things that I need included and its central location makes it easier for my to walk around the city and visit the places of interest. Is it really THAT bad and unsafe? What about the Omonia metro station? Is it possible to wait for the train on the platform without being robbed or mugged? What about mornings, late afternoons and evenings?
I’m female and solo traveler. Staying at hotel tiare on the square.l right now. I walked back to the hotel this evening (10pm), on the main road. Been there for 3 days and nothing happened but always have to stay vigilant. Tbh I booked last minute and didn’t check. I don’t find the place scary but I’m always on my guard keeping an eye on my stuff. I’d recommend staying in Plaka or elsewhere so you can breath and relax a bit ;)
well generally the vast majority of the local population usually don't pass through those regions of central Athens. But anyway even in other parts of the city, when you see the majority of Greek and other Balkan youths, are getting from bad to worse.........

17:12 greek Borat
He is not Greek; he looks like the original Borat!
even the cars have graffiti in this neighbourhood.
I remember my parents talking about this place, then we moved to Cleveland and saw what a real ghetto looks like lol.

Omonia is totally fine, was there this year, no hassle, Greek people are so nice
It will slowly change for the better. Its in the city so we might see re-develoments.
Is the area around Economy Hotel Athens safe? I'm going there early next year.
I know what you want to show.
Every single large city has areas like this one.
I will not watch this video.
Been there in October 24, walked all these streets at 1,2,3 am nothing happened…
TKS bill, I've often warned my friends from that area, but Tks for confirming...
Omoneia square has two faces...one is cleaned up for the media...the other poor face is hidden...
Just like fresno calif. No big deal
Thank you for this information, is this address to close the dangerous area ? Kalamida 4, Athina, 105 54, Greece
You ll be fine! No worries!
Yes....but look at all the spray paint everywhere
Yes, it makes it look terrible.
its the best to see there! Like Berlin. Awsome, not dangerous.

....streets behind the official Omoneia square....
If you seriously think this is the worst place in Athens, then you have never heard about Exarcheia
Πώς φαίνεται ότι δεν έχεις πατήσει ποτέ το πόδι σου στα Εξάρχεια!😂
@@lenaklv4357I agree with you! Exarcheia has some very cool and trendy cafes and shops. I’ve personally never had any problems there.
