This was great. Most videos I've seen about Athens ONLY go to the tourist places and it's so tiresome. Thank you for showcasing how Athens is actually like.
These are still tourist neighborhoods in my opinion as they are all located in central Athens. There are many more much nicer suburbs that most tourists would never visit but you have to leave the city centre.

Hello from Denmark, A truly enjoyable and well presented look at areas of Athens we have never visited but most certainly will be checking out in our next and future visits. Thank you very much for the inspiration.

Thank you so much! I worked really hard to get to as many parts of the city as I could. Even then, I am sure that I could have included more neighborhoods and more places. I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Missed the newer middle class and affluent areas such as Kifisia in the north along with the coastal suburbs east of the city center such as Glyfada, Vari, Vouliagmeni...the Athenean Riviera. Overall a good video of the city center.
Thank you for that! I heard good things about Kifisia, but I never got a chance to visit. It was after I left, that I learned that Glyfada and the other towns along the Athenean Riviera deserved attention too. There is always next time!
The Omonia neighborhood, up until the financial crisis of 2010-2011, used to be an area with many shops and micro malls, the "Stoa" as we call them. During the financial crisis, many of the shops closed down, and the area started to be abandoned by the locals. Then immigrants began to arrive, along with drug addicts, because they could find cheap apartments for rent. After the end of the crisis, when tourism started to grow rapidly in Athens, the municipality of Athens began to plan the recreation of Omonia Square. We believe that in a few years from now, Omonia will be back on its feet again.
Nice video, I have been to Athens many times. However we just returned from a trip to Greece. In Athens the first neighbourhood we stayed in was Kolonaki, very nice area and amazing view over the city. The last area we stayed in was Koukaki which was a very young and "hip" place, lots of great places to eat and have coffee or a drink. Thanks for your video gives me some ideas for the next trip (which is next year).

I was born in Australia and spent 12 years in Sepolia ( Σεπόλια ) Athens back in 1975. It's one of few typical Greek middle-class neighbourhoods not influenced with multicultural migration. It's very important for Greek people to know interact & mingle with their neighbours. As it was said to me in 2018 ( έχει γειτονιά ακόμη ). The neighbourhood still exists.
I think the one you are talking about is Mikel Coffee in Sepolia. That has an address listed as Dyrrachiou 59. I hope that helps and thank you for watching!
I have especially heard great things about Glyfada. There are certainly many more great places in Athens that I didn't get a chance to visit. Thank you for watching!
This is a travel blog, so I talk about the places that I visit. I realize that there might be parts of the city, where it is inadvisable to travel. Such is the case with virtually every metropolis.
Greece as we know it today was formed in 1831 thats why you will never see a map that says greece before then. Greece in latin means combination of countries which it is. The hellenic people down south have been there for a long time and know greece is a modern country as it stands today. But even athens is built by the romans. Beautiful place
Had you taken your medicine before commenting ? Ancient Athens my illiterate friend was built many-many Centuries before Roman Empire conquered the region.
Your ignorance is overwhelming! According to you "Greece is a combination of different countries?" I suggest that you must prepare your Dissertation with these brand-new "research" and "ideas" and please do submit it to the Faculty of the famous Harvard University. For sure, you will be awarded the PhD Degree "in Advanced (Turkish/Albanian/Slavo-Skopian choose your origin) Stupidity" !
Greece is the birthplace of democracy and European, and therefore American and world civilization as a whole. And a beautiful country! The Netherlands is a modern, highly developed country! All of Europe is beautiful! I love Europe! Hello everyone from America!
Don't you feel remorse for your crimes against these innocent creatures? Don't you see that they love life like you and don't want to die? Don't you see how much they are afraid of dying and scream out of fear? Do you want someone to treat you and your family or loved ones like this? If you have an iota of compassion and conscience, stop this dirty work. (Eating meat is a crime) is the product of violence and murder, not food.🤬🤬

It's very important for Greek people to know interact & mingle with their neighbours. As it was said to me in 2018 ( έχει γειτονιά ακόμη ). The neighbourhood still exists.
I enjoyed Sepolia very much.
Thank you for watching!
Very good video. However I'm an Athenian and I avoid Omonoia like the plague. 😂
Thank you!
I understand. All I can talk about are my experiences. You have had much more exposure to the neighborhood than me.
Thank you for watching!
Hey, I tried to figure out where you at in the introduction by finding that coffee place, but wasn't successful. Where is it?
I think the one you are talking about is Mikel Coffee in Sepolia. That has an address listed as Dyrrachiou 59.
I hope that helps and thank you for watching!
A map would be helpful
I agree. I wish I had added one to this video!
Thank you for watching and thanks for the suggestion, as well.
Best GREECE -GR !
Ecxept Peiraius you did not mentioned the whole coast line of Athens . Faliro, Alimos, Glyfada, Vouliagmeni etc. The best places....
I didn't mention those towns along the coast, because I wasn't able to spend time there. It gives me a good reason to return one day!
God bless you and Ephcharisto
I appreciate that!
I will be nice if you added faliro, glyfada, vouliagmeni, varkiza
I have especially heard great things about Glyfada. There are certainly many more great places in Athens that I didn't get a chance to visit.
Thank you for watching!
Anyway, excellent video!
Those are not neighborhoods of Athens, however. They are their own towns.
How could you not include Pagrati? 😢
Otherwise a good video.
There are many other neighborhoods that I would have loved to visit and could have been great additions to the video!
❤❤❤
There is much not to like about Athens. Just leave your 2 mile safe radius and walk westwards.
This is a travel blog, so I talk about the places that I visit. I realize that there might be parts of the city, where it is inadvisable to travel. Such is the case with virtually every metropolis.
I don’t go to Omonia nights🙏
I can understand that, although I never felt uncomfortable in the areas that I visited after dark.
I have been warn to stay away deom Omionia
I visited Athens and hated it, horrible time.

According to you "Greece is a combination of different countries?"
I suggest that you must prepare your Dissertation with these brand-new "research" and "ideas" and please do submit it to the Faculty of the famous Harvard University. For sure, you will be awarded the PhD Degree "in Advanced (Turkish/Albanian/Slavo-Skopian choose your origin) Stupidity" !
They all look the same
Literally recommending the worst areas 😂😭don't listen to this brudda
Greece is the birthplace of democracy and European, and therefore American and world civilization as a whole. And a beautiful country! The Netherlands is a modern, highly developed country! All of Europe is beautiful! I love Europe! Hello everyone from America!
I've enjoyed what I've seen so far and I hope to see much more in the future!
Thank you for watching!
Well if you white man your heart and heritage is European
@@georgekoulare you white man?
Tip from me: DON'T go to Athens. Except from 1-2 places, it's a complete SHITHOLE
Who say we want you to come
Animals are not our slaves or food please Go Vegan for them 💚🌱🙏
Animals are with us not for us. Please go vegan for life 💚🌱🙏
Don't you feel remorse for your crimes against these innocent creatures?
Don't you see that they love life like you and don't want to die?
Don't you see how much they are afraid of dying and scream out of fear?
Do you want someone to treat you and your family or loved ones like this?
If you have an iota of compassion and conscience, stop this dirty work.
