Ahhhh of course you’re right, I should’ve said that it should match the cap height optically, not literally! Ariel’s version had more than just optical overshoots though :)
This is great. I've been drawing type, for Logos, for a long time. However, I've only just finished my first (And second) typeface, so I still feel like a beginner. I actually teach design at a university, so watching the way you give feedback has been invaluable for more than one reason. Please keep these videos coming, I might send you one of my typefaces for the next one.
thanks a ton for this. i'm still sort of looking in from the outside in terms of type/font design, but i really hope to begin creating my own typefaces soon. watching these makes me feel confident that i'll be starting out with the knowledge i need. i look forward to future videos!
Thank you so much for your generous feedback, I really really appreciate it! I will look into details you pointed out and will continue the grind! Спасибо!
Thanks Alex, this kind of content is desperately needed on youtube, please keep it up! :) Also, it would be super helpful if you could find a way to show all the buttons you press in the recording, for learning shortcuts and efficient workflow etc..
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. As a beginner, I have zero ideas on how I can make the letters more consistent and less funny looking. But with these kinds of videos, I can kind of improve my "lettering skills" (if that makes sense) and not make it look like a 3-year-old who made the letter form. I really hope to learn more about stuff like this.
Thanks for the video! Talking as a native speaker to a native speaker - Cyrillic Ф usually has overshoots in sans serifs if it's not too bold

Man, this is the nerdy type stuff i want to see on youtube! It's super helpful to get more into the mindset of the type designer, thanks Alex

Thank you! I still want to make more of those, but never find the time :)

Thank you for the feedback!
Very good and interesting video!
What tool did you use at 27:48 to scale the letter o?
That’s a personal little tool, wip :)
I think you should at a 0:00 timestamp in the video description because time chapters are not showing on the video itself ;)
Thanks!
I’m really curious about the command or shortcut you used at 15:32 👀
The Fit Curve panel, the shortcuts are ctrl + opt + numerals
Great feedback 👏
Hi, sorry for asking but I'm curious what software do you use?
Hi, I use Glyphs!
@@slobzheninov thank you!
Thanks!
