When you plonked the shim onto the lockbox it reminded me, a couple of weeks ago our workplace bought a property and the previous owner had left a Master lockbox on the outside of the property and not given us the combination. My colleague mentioned this to me, and since I'd seen a lot of your videos I had a pretty fair idea that this box could be decoded fairly easily. Using a shim fashioned out of an empty soft drink can, I managed to decode the lockbox in just a few minutes and discovered that the previous owner had left keys in the lockbox - that they could potentially have used to gain entry again. When I was younger, I used this method to get very cheap luggage from the thrift store. Often time they would sell luggage that was locked and an unknown combo for a discount. Samsonite locks can be decoded the same method and with a similar lack of tolerance.

Back in school in 1982, some kids had schoolbags locked with the exact same three wheel combination lock. We used to "have fun" by decoding the locks and changing the combination when they werent looking. Broke the day up a bit I guess.
I recently found the very same combo lock mechanism on a ‘secure medicine chest’ bought from Amazon. A relative messed up setting the combination somehow, so I said “pass it over here” and I was able to get into it within a minute or two. Just apply a little bit of tension to the knob and discover which wheel feels different as you spin them. That’s the first one to change. Rotate through all ten positions and you can feel the “flat spot” when you rotate past the correct number. Rinse and repeat with the other two wheels. Honestly, you could do this blindfold: it’s actually easier by feel than when looking. It might keep a young child or a person with dementia from swallowing a fistful of tablets, but secure, these aren’t!

Someone left a book safe with the same lock mechanism at the restaurant I work at. I couldn't see the notches to I felt for them with a soda lid and got it open. Nothing was inside but thanks for the video!
Sadly, that exact lock work is used in many combo-lock boxes for cash and gun storage. The lock work housing is made of cheap plastic. This gun box is sold under many brand names and meant to safeguard against theft, but you can easily pry the lock out with a screwdriver or a knife (common burglar tools) or smash it loose with a hammer.
I rewatched this video after a while and I think that if you listen closely, you can hear a perpetual smile or a suppressed giggle throughout the entire video.
These videos are very helpful for Public Safety so keep up the good work. We need to know if we want to keep something as dangerous as a firearm safe that a lock box is at least up to a certain standard and that one is terrible so it should teach people not to listen to what Amazon recommends all the time.

Sadly, that exact lock work is used in many combo-lock boxes for cash and gun storage. The lock work housing is made of cheap plastic. This gun box is sold under many brand names and meant to safeguard against theft, but you can easily pry the lock out with a screwdriver or a knife (common burglar tools) or smash it loose with a hammer.

I rewatched this video after a while and I think that if you listen closely, you can hear a perpetual smile or a suppressed giggle throughout the entire video.
These videos are very helpful for Public Safety so keep up the good work. We need to know if we want to keep something as dangerous as a firearm safe that a lock box is at least up to a certain standard and that one is terrible so it should teach people not to listen to what Amazon recommends all the time.
