I like what's going on because I feel like everyone was getting sort of swallowed up. There are a lot of big storylines. FCG, imgoene, Ashton AND LAUDNA especially what's going on with her because she has a Briarwood issue. Now that may come later when some other issues are resolved. Even the stuff with Orym because he WILL BE FRESKING THE FUCK OUT OVER KEYLETH!!! I have some new theories there too. Anyhoo. That's all for now. I'm doing a some of C1 rewatch and sitting where wondering the RQ really must have needed some amusement because Vax is snarky AF.... and Vax is gonna Vax. I mean Calling the Goddess of Death Creepy AF... Oh My she MUST have been delighted!!

I love Matt as a DM but I would be a frustrated player at his table in this campaign, I don't feel that they as a team and individualy has a strong reason to try to stop this end of the world. In the end is their table and their fun.

I like the change of pace, seeing two different groups gives room for more players, with the new group dynamics breaking up what could have become monotonous dynamics of the og group. Now when the og group comes back together I feel there will be a new layer to their relationships. Also It's so cool that Matt can be so descriptive in the horror elements in a way that is sufficiently creepy enough for the cast and crew and the viewers without ever going over a line or crossing into weird enough territory where it's too far.
Moments like the end of this episode remind me of Travis’s Between the Sheets, when he talked about making bold moves and the quote: “I mean, they call it an adventuring party for a reason right?” I love it, the game is meant to be played
The longer they are away from Ashton, the more I think Caduceus will make an appearance. I'm wondering if Matt will resolve this by divine intervention. The gods have stopped time at the place of the Ritual, where Orym, Laudna, and Ashton are- teleporting the others to a place where they might discover the secrets of Ludinus. The Apogee Solstice has been extended to allow the time discrepancy- giving the team we are following a chance to do something about it. Travis presses buttons because he wants to see what horrors Matt has concocted for the players. If they just run away, they will miss all the clever traps, monsters, and situations.
Travis definitely had a Grog moment at the end of this session. It's always so entertaining. Laura's expressions during the five-wolf description was quite amusing, as well.

I really liked Aabria saying "Hey, this is all AAVE anyways" or something like that. Yes, we should take into account that the biggest influence for whatever "the kids say" in any giving moment probably is AAVE.
I saw somewhere that the length of this section was likely to account for Marisha training for Creator Clash. Totally plausible, wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Wasn't there also a big announcement about the art books coming back? That could explain Liam and Tal being in the same group, as they might have been needed for that, or making a new book (they led the art book creation before). Real world reasons aside, I AM curious as to what is happening with the others. Three days to Uthadurn, a couple days in the city, four days to Molesmyr. We are over a week with these guys. What are the others doing during that time? The last time we had a split like this was the Trial of the Take, and those groups were both together for just two episodes. We have had this group for 6 episodes now, and a 7th incoming. I am not surprised people are getting anxious. Edit: We now have the trailer for Candela Obscura, and I think it is safe to say that is what Taliesin has been working on. It says it will be airing on the last Thursday of the month. They decided to fill that time slot I guess.

It's starting to feel a tiny bit long for a split tbh, I miss the rest of the cast, no matter how much I might be enjoying the story, I miss the rest of the people I love watching. I'm torn because I really do love Frida and Deanna a whole hecking lot! I wish they could stay forever! (get a bigger table! lol) , and I'm worried they will never get to meet Ashton, Laudna, and Orym, because there are conversations I would love to see between them. But ALSO, excited to maybe see new guests with the other group. Since this has been such a long split, I hope we get equal time with the others.
I've been having a blast! But I really wish we were getting an every other situation, I miss the other players and it feels weird to go THIS long without them when they're story is gonna technically happen at the exact same time

I agree about Annihilation aesthetic, as soon as Matt started explaining the city, I immediately went to annihilation; colours, living abominations and plants with human characteristics, everything reminds of that.
THEORY: Ludinus Da'Leth is Loras of the Weaver's Mask. Ludinus said he has been working on this for a thousand years. That lines up with the start of the Calamity and the fall of Avalir. Both are elves. Loras had jet black hair, Ludinus has white, and people getting white hair in response to trauma has been established in Exandria lore. He has had over 800 years since the Divergence to develop and test his plan. Loquacius trapped Loras in a Wall of Force just before the fall of Avalir, unintentionally protecting him during the city's destruction.
I just hope they get some information or something out of all this that can help against Ludinus. Great breakdown and recap. Maybe this new creature will be nice and the power of friendship will prevail.
In the campaign two wrap-up Matt said that the forest they found in Aeor was an Age of Arcanum experiment to make a plant that would grow "crops" that could be used like residuum.
I am now fully convinced of Ludinus' age going back as far as some have theorized based on Ludinus' claims. Also I had this thought of all the shady creek toughened criminals taking bodies purely to have an excuse to go to the blooming groove and have a cup of tea. I know that's definitely not true, but I love the idea.

The description of the wolf king was spectacular, even more spectacular watching Travis and Aabria's reactions. Such a treat this 2! I remembered how fun was to watch them in the Calamity
This is a great recap! Though what it truly did was remind me once again how enrapturing the final arc of Campaign 2 is. Matt describing things in Aeor was every bit as enthralling as the best audio book I’ve ever heard.
18:40 I think it's more like Frida find life sanctimonious and hate when it's corrupted. They have harped about ressurections being unnatural and have the ability to decompose corpses.
I liked what they got up to in Uthodurn, but it kinda felt like slamming the brakes on the story. I'm enjoying following Team Wildemount more now that it feels like they're helping move the story along by trying to find out more about Ludinus. I am really starting to miss the other half, though. I wonder what the metric for switching to the other half is going to be. But anyway, I'm sure the party split and choice to follow TW first were to clear Marisha's schedule so she could focus on Creator Clash, and I'm really happy she was able to follow that dream.

I think the mention of Laeryn is a huge pointer to Ludinus' origins. We know from Calamity that much of her research into Apogee Solstices and their potential was so secret that even some of the Circle of Brass didn't know about it. I may be wrong, but it feels like Ludinus must have known Laeryn well enough to have at least some inkling of the true nature and direction of her work. On a tangent, given that a lot of pre-Calamity stuff is emerging in this campaign; I find myself wondering what Divexyan's true motivation is for reviving Aeormatons and scattering them across Exandria? Before the destruction of Aeor, it seems they were an associate/assistant to one of the city's leading mages, and that Aeormatons played an important role in it's strategic planning. What if D's intentions aren't entirely benign, and they're still pursuing a variant of whatever the original goal was?
That circle could be a portal, or it could be a magic sink/schmuck bait meant to drain resources before a boss fight. Kinda like the sea hag's storm summoning runic table that ran on hit points in C2.
Hrm... what if Patia's orb is in the wall? A lot of the anti-divinity rhetoric is very reminiscent of what we heard the Ring of Brass talking about during the Calamity mini-series. It would make sense if Ludinus developed this view from reading the information in that orb, especially if it was the prevailing attitude from Avalir which would have impacted how everything was recorded inside it.
I might be way off but i have a feeling Ludinus might be Patia's father. Both her parents "left" as her grandfather said, her mother became the Raven Queen but we never learn where her father went. Even Patia didn't remember her mother's name. And Luidinus is weirdly obsessed with the Raven Queen. Again I'm probably waaay off... I'm missing the other half of the party and desperately need to know that they're okay but I also need to know what happens next with Team Wildmount!!! I'm so torn😭

I'm really enjoying following the Team Wildemount... The split is like reading a book with multiple narrative lines. It gives us the chance to explore more places and know more lore. #loreaddicted
Altenate theory on that weird circle on the wall: what if it's just an arcane fume hood? So instead of opening some kind of a a secret compartment, it just sucks up all magic thrown in it's general direction?
I initially thought the trees were being influenced by the corpses, but after they found the one that reacted with a face, I suspect some of them were actually people, transformed by the magic of the corruption 🤔 I personally like this group a lot, although I've read people speculating that maybe once the next 4SD comes it will be with Aabria and Christian as guests, after which we will go with the other team

I feel like we would appreciate Team Wildmount when we know exactly when we get back to Marquet. (Binge the episodes) My theory is that we'll have two or three episodes left with Deanna and FRIDA. 1) fight this monster blob and maybe find more information before ditching the place 2) getting back to civilization/Get into FRIDA's memories to find an important file called backstory (lol)/Deanna and Chet finally bone 3) saying goodbye and promise to be in touch.

I am really enjoying the opportunity presented by this whole party split. The longer it goes however I guess the longer we should expect the other side to have the same happen... unless time shenanigans happen or it is kinda skipped over what they are up to. If they give the other party as much time it will be quite a stretch without seeing the whole gang together which is interesting. It also oddly makes me want to see more EXU stories with existing and new characters and DMs.
Oh! I forgot about the trees in CR2 (didn't watch near the end) but I do know about the "people blob". Seems like there are more connections, in this case to CR2! Oh! And EXU! The description of the last enemy reminded me of the cognoza ward. I wonder if there's a connection Idk what I think about the long separation, tbh. I'm biased, because Ashton is my favorite PC in this campaign so far, but I also adore Aabria and enjoy what Christian bring to the table. So I'm torn about it. But I don't mind the change of pace. Campaign 1 and 2 were different in their pacing as well. So when it comes to the layout of the entire campaign, I don't expect anything.
You know with all these visions of the past with Aeor and an impossibly old Ludinus the one reference or connection I really, really want to see is Bolo.

While I like what they're doing, and I love having Aabria and Christian as part of the group, I really do want to know what Ashton, Orym, and Laudna are up to at the moment, where they are and what's happening to/with them. I am curious as well if they're either with another set of potential guests, or if perhaps some of the former PCs from earlier campaigns will be NPCs with them--Keyleth, Caleb, and Beau seem likely, but who knows?
I have really been enjoying this group and side quest. I very much love seeing Aabria play. She brings such a great energy to the table (plus she's great at trolling Travis/Chetney which is great fun to watch!) I wonder if the hidden thing behind the circle is the Exandrian equivalent to our birth certificate and passports. More info on who Ludinus really is. How old. Where he's from. What his purpose and dreams are for this. It would be amazing to know the name of the Raven Queen but i think more backstory on Luddy would be awesome and more juicy. I'm also loving the Cathulhu vibes this city has. It's literally wicked!
Well, I am struggling to keep interest. Note, as I have said before, I’m a new critter; I also have some heavy personal stuff going on so my general interest in things is really stretched. Still, I am still in the “I don’t know what is going on” stage. I wish everyone had just stuck together, and like someone else asked, are we going to next have 2-3 months of the other half, probably also with some guests? I think this group is trying to find their friends or get answers, and I suppose it will all make sense eventually. But as a new critter, maybe I’m just not used to a very, very long story, living in the world of short streaming series that run and then it’s over. Yes they may have a second or third season, but the focus on the story is tight. This is a much longer ongoing story, and I’m perhaps just not used to it. Your long recap that you posted recently was very helpful for me to remember that there is, indeed, some long story being told here. For now, though, I can’t see that story and while maybe not bored, I am not clear on what is going on or why.
As much as it's killing me, I really like seeing Imogen away from Laudna. They're my favorite duo this campaign but I want them to exist and grow independently. I really hope we get a good chunk of time with the other group but I can wait for as long as it takes because I really like what's going on now
I thought it has gone on a bit to long imo. Like the beginning when they met FRIDA and Deanna I thought could have been sped up as well as being in the city. I feel they dragged it out cause the others had things to take care of or film. But I am ready to see they other half and I can't wait for the party to just be whole and move forward again.

I’m kind of curious how they’re going to reunite the two groups. Bc if we’re sticking with Team Wildemount until they find the other group, it would be incredibly frustating (narratively speaking) to then have a complete sidequest with the other team. Because in your head you’re already at the point where they united and you want the story to pick up from there. It may lead to a rushed arc of the other group and that would be a shame.
I'm enjoying the side quest, Christian, and Aabria. However, I don't see myself going back and watching it again when I decide to rewatch the entire campaign. It doesn't feel consequential enough (so far anyway)
Just an fyi. The fungus communicating thing in the Last of Us is a show specific thing not part of the game. While Ashley and Laura do appear in the show they aren't as involved as with the game. While they likely watched so probably are familiar its not necessarily cuz they were a part of the game.
I hope the second group solo session is shorter... Only because I don't want to go a long time without having Laura, Travis, Ashley and Sam at the table. Fingers crossed the second group "landed" near The Opal Situation.

They had a chance to do magic on the circle. Instead they dragged on about entering a mind, while in a hostile location, and having used many of their spell slots. I think Travis was just over it and wanted to do SOMETHING.

I am now fully convinced of Ludinus' age going back as far as some have theorized based on Ludinus' claims. Also I had this thought of all the shady creek toughened criminals taking bodies purely to have an excuse to go to the blooming groove and have a cup of tea. I know that's definitely not true, but I love the idea.

This is a great recap! Though what it truly did was remind me once again how enrapturing the final arc of Campaign 2 is. Matt describing things in Aeor was every bit as enthralling as the best audio book I’ve ever heard.
18:40 I think it's more like Frida find life sanctimonious and hate when it's corrupted. They have harped about ressurections being unnatural and have the ability to decompose corpses.
I liked what they got up to in Uthodurn, but it kinda felt like slamming the brakes on the story.
I'm enjoying following Team Wildemount more now that it feels like they're helping move the story along by trying to find out more about Ludinus. I am really starting to miss the other half, though. I wonder what the metric for switching to the other half is going to be. But anyway, I'm sure the party split and choice to follow TW first were to clear Marisha's schedule so she could focus on Creator Clash, and I'm really happy she was able to follow that dream.

I think the mention of Laeryn is a huge pointer to Ludinus' origins. We know from Calamity that much of her research into Apogee Solstices and their potential was so secret that even some of the Circle of Brass didn't know about it. I may be wrong, but it feels like Ludinus must have known Laeryn well enough to have at least some inkling of the true nature and direction of her work.
On a tangent, given that a lot of pre-Calamity stuff is emerging in this campaign; I find myself wondering what Divexyan's true motivation is for reviving Aeormatons and scattering them across Exandria? Before the destruction of Aeor, it seems they were an associate/assistant to one of the city's leading mages, and that Aeormatons played an important role in it's strategic planning. What if D's intentions aren't entirely benign, and they're still pursuing a variant of whatever the original goal was?

That circle could be a portal, or it could be a magic sink/schmuck bait meant to drain resources before a boss fight. Kinda like the sea hag's storm summoning runic table that ran on hit points in C2.
Hrm... what if Patia's orb is in the wall? A lot of the anti-divinity rhetoric is very reminiscent of what we heard the Ring of Brass talking about during the Calamity mini-series. It would make sense if Ludinus developed this view from reading the information in that orb, especially if it was the prevailing attitude from Avalir which would have impacted how everything was recorded inside it.

Even Patia didn't remember her mother's name. And Luidinus is weirdly obsessed with the Raven Queen. Again I'm probably waaay off...

I initially thought the trees were being influenced by the corpses, but after they found the one that reacted with a face, I suspect some of them were actually people, transformed by the magic of the corruption 🤔
I personally like this group a lot, although I've read people speculating that maybe once the next 4SD comes it will be with Aabria and Christian as guests, after which we will go with the other team

I am really enjoying the opportunity presented by this whole party split. The longer it goes however I guess the longer we should expect the other side to have the same happen... unless time shenanigans happen or it is kinda skipped over what they are up to. If they give the other party as much time it will be quite a stretch without seeing the whole gang together which is interesting. It also oddly makes me want to see more EXU stories with existing and new characters and DMs.
Oh! I forgot about the trees in CR2 (didn't watch near the end) but I do know about the "people blob". Seems like there are more connections, in this case to CR2! Oh! And EXU! Loving that CR3 is having mini connections to previous champagnes!

Idk what I think about the long separation, tbh. I'm biased, because Ashton is my favorite PC in this campaign so far, but I also adore Aabria and enjoy what Christian bring to the table. So I'm torn about it. But I don't mind the change of pace. Campaign 1 and 2 were different in their pacing as well. So when it comes to the layout of the entire campaign, I don't expect anything.

While I like what they're doing, and I love having Aabria and Christian as part of the group, I really do want to know what Ashton, Orym, and Laudna are up to at the moment, where they are and what's happening to/with them. I am curious as well if they're either with another set of potential guests, or if perhaps some of the former PCs from earlier campaigns will be NPCs with them--Keyleth, Caleb, and Beau seem likely, but who knows?
I have really been enjoying this group and side quest. I very much love seeing Aabria play. She brings such a great energy to the table (plus she's great at trolling Travis/Chetney which is great fun to watch!) I wonder if the hidden thing behind the circle is the Exandrian equivalent to our birth certificate and passports. More info on who Ludinus really is. How old. Where he's from. What his purpose and dreams are for this. It would be amazing to know the name of the Raven Queen but i think more backstory on Luddy would be awesome and more juicy.
I'm also loving the Cathulhu vibes this city has. It's literally wicked!

Well, I am struggling to keep interest. Note, as I have said before, I’m a new critter; I also have some heavy personal stuff going on so my general interest in things is really stretched. Still, I am still in the “I don’t know what is going on” stage. I wish everyone had just stuck together, and like someone else asked, are we going to next have 2-3 months of the other half, probably also with some guests? I think this group is trying to find their friends or get answers, and I suppose it will all make sense eventually. But as a new critter, maybe I’m just not used to a very, very long story, living in the world of short streaming series that run and then it’s over. Yes they may have a second or third season, but the focus on the story is tight. This is a much longer ongoing story, and I’m perhaps just not used to it. Your long recap that you posted recently was very helpful for me to remember that there is, indeed, some long story being told here. For now, though, I can’t see that story and while maybe not bored, I am not clear on what is going on or why.

As much as it's killing me, I really like seeing Imogen away from Laudna. They're my favorite duo this campaign but I want them to exist and grow independently. I thought it has gone on a bit to long imo. Like the beginning when they met FRIDA and Deanna I thought could have been sped up as well as being in the city. I feel they dragged it out cause the others had things to take care of or film. But I am ready to see they other half and I can't wait for the party to just be whole and move forward again.
Whenever we go back yo Ashton's group, I think it would be cool for one of the guest characters to be a Nobody.

I’m kind of curious how they’re going to reunite the two groups. Bc if we’re sticking with Team Wildemount until they find the other group, it would be incredibly frustating (narratively speaking) to then have a complete sidequest with the other team. Because in your head you’re already at the point where they united and you want the story to pick up from there. It may lead to a rushed arc of the other group and that would be a shame.
I'm enjoying the side quest, Christian, and Aabria. However, I don't see myself going back and watching it again when I decide to rewatch the entire campaign. It doesn't feel consequential enough (so far anyway)

Just an fyi. The fungus communicating thing in the Last of Us is a show specific thing not part of the game. While Ashley and Laura do appear in the show they aren't as involved as with the game. While they likely watched so probably are familiar its not necessarily cuz they were a part of the game.
