I already kind of have it played out in my head, Cad coming across a giant upset celestial bull with a bow on one of its horns, really hope to see it some day. (love the classic xbox pfp btw)
*Umadara arrives at Blooming Grove* Cad: "Hey... Wow, you're new. What brings you to our stretch of the woods?" Umadara: *sad mooing noises* Cad: "Ya, that's rough buddy. Ya know, I think I know a place that would be good for you. Have you heard of the Menagerie?"
Couple of theories for this one! The Explorer's Guide To Wildemount confirmed Ludinus is a survivor the fall of Molaesmyr. We also know the fall was also caused by someone bringing something back from Aeor (Matt confirmed this in the C2 wrap up), so that's most likely him too. Did Ludinus place the 'statue' in Uthodurn as some sort of sleeper agent? The magic that seems most impacted is teleportation, communication and scrying. To me, that all seems in the domain of Ioun. Ioun was wounded in the Calamity, so it could be she was seen as easy prey for Predathos. She's also basically the patron of the Cobalt Soul, who Ludinus hates with a passion.
The first attempt on Keyleth might have just needed some divinations to verify that Vax was watching, so Ludinis would know that his ultimate plan would work. Remember, Vax didn't show up to stop any attack on Keyleth aside from the death blow, so he presumably would have held back similarly during the first attempt. In that attempt it sounded like Keyleth was never in danger, so Vax would never had appeared. The right divinations would confirm that Vax was watching and ready to intervene, which would be enough for Ludinis to go forward with his plan to use Vax as a lens for the Malleus Key. My worry on the weakening of binding enhancements are on other creatures in the vaults near Bazzoxan, where the Laughing Hand was released. Heck, the divine shackles securing Tharizdun might be in danger. As for the bull returning to the Savalirwood and seeing it's corruption, there's always a chance that it'll end up at the Blooming Grove, where the Clay's may have finally figured out how their crystal trees are keeping back the corruption. That may lead to help for the bull.
Or... the attack was repelled prior to Keyleth being in enough danger to lure Vax out. Remember, apparently there's some shit going on with Opal and the Crown Keepers as well, and she's the Spider Queen's champion
The possibility of magical imprisonment failing, made me think of Trent Ickithon being able to escape. Also im hopeful the bull will meet up with Cad & they will be able to help in restoring the forest.
The Bull seems similar to Xerxes griffon. These may be creatures created during the age of Arcanum as guardians of the floating cities / civilizations. My gut tells me these creatures are unique, and make up the Exandria version of a Zodiac.
This is genuinely my favorite episode of cr so far (don't come at me, I haven't finished the other 2 campaigns yet). Imogen slowly loosing her cool, Fearne having to step up as a friend and really being there for her, finding the peaceful solution to the fight, some top tier jokes, just all around a really perfect episode!
I don't comment usually, but I just wanted to say, Thank you so much for making such awesome videos! I found your channel...maybe a year ago? It was your C3 Breakdowns that brought me in initially. Since then, the breakdowns and even your other videos have become some of my favorite parts of the week! It's always nice to see how passionate you are, and feels good to have a fellow Critter to kind of look back over all the crazy shenanigans that is Critical Role. :) I'm really missing Laudna and Orym (Liam says he's wholesome but I feel like that is true AND there is still more to uncover there). I enjoyed having these guest players though and I can't wait to see what other kind of trouble they get into. I feel like there are many things hinted at in this campaign but we still don't know for sure where we are going. It's exciting!
Last I remember, Trent was also bound with one of those collars, attached with sovereign glue, along with some of the glue being used to stick his hands together- so unless he has a means of removing that somehow, he should still be ‘imprisoned’ in that way.
@@anjelica948 he could have been broken out by allies. Even ludinus' people. It's at least POSSIBLE. And the threat I feel the most visceral reaction to. It's the most personal.
@@leadingblind1629 Oh its definitely possible. And I worry terribly if it did happen. But if it did, I have a feeling it would be in the background given that this is the BHs story, and I imagine Trent would be hell-bent on getting revenge on Caleb/M9.
If Umadara is celestial and beast does that make them a holy cow? The Scribewarden also appeared in C2 apparently? Also, weren't Cad's family turned into stone? What if whatever turned them to stone also had gotten to Umadara?
Since Calamity I'd been wondering how connected Tempus and Zerxus were to the "good intentioned" entity of the stars. They seemed connected to the Luxon. Tempus made me think of the Adranachs and I worry those "constructs" are bound celestial spirits. Eberron has a lot of "bound" spirits/elementals and the like and during the Age of Arcanum who knows what sort of terrible things were done/bound while Tempus was a pure spirit serving Zerxus out of choice/devotion. Perhaps that entity tied to the Luxon is counter to Predathos.
Wheeee! I'm glad they saved the sad bull and the guards were very understanding considering. Also missing the other group a lot but I'm sure they're enjoying watching too.
The mass dispel throughout the city (and potentially everywhere else) might have more to do with the malleus key as it is shooting a massive beam of dispel magic up at the moon.
Umudara is the sweetest bull ever and if anything happens to him I will be so sad. Also, I really like how the artists portray him About the first attack in Zephrah, I think Otohan didn't expect the Champion to appear necessarily, but she wanted to make sure he was aware of the threat to Keyleth's life. This is an aspect of the story that I didn't understand completely, but I think that the reason why the members of Paragon's Call are forced to wear symbols of the Duskmaven is to make sure that the goddess and her celestials are aware of them, so when a second attack happened, the Champion of Ravens would be completely sure of how to find them
I was half expecting the background music to switch to an fantasy version of "Bulls on Parade" by Rage against the Machine to start playing as they walk their way up and out of the city.
So where does everyone think team Ashton is? I believe they are in the shattered teeth judging by the description Matt gave of the members being on a cliff side and that also being in the southern hemisphere of exandria seeing how they could still see ruidis.
If Vax was not seen at the first attack, maybe this time he showed himself as an “enough is enough”. Vax never visited VM in his own form except for that one time (as far as we know), there might be a “rule” that he is not allowed to do that. And he just broke that rule. Side note, I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but is anyone else getting a C3-PO and R2-D2 vibe, especially after we got more description of FRIDA?
I agree, that was so bizarre that Vax would defy his matron’s wishes and show himself in order to protect Keyleth. I didn’t think he had that level of free-will anymore, but clearly he does, since he didn’t strike for Ludinus or Otohan, he specifically defended Keyleth. Then again, if Ludinus really is trying to kill all the gods, the Matron would have a vested interest in stopping him, so perhaps she allowed Vax to act more freely, and bc Keyleth was in mortal peril, he instinctively went to protect her.
My guess is that the lycanthropy will only be triggered on the Full Moon.... So it'll potentially pop off on the next Long Rest, or a month from now, they'll get a frantic Sending about FRIDA going crazy 🙀
It’s probably quite obvious, that the statue used to be a creature that was magically petrified. But the vibes I get from Uthodorn make me think that they wouldn’t be that cruel to living things. 🤔 What if instead Predathos wasn’t actually attacking the pantheon but influencing the world below so that people wouldn’t believe anymore? Matt made it clear with the Traveler, that the gods‘ powers came from worship. I like to believe that one of Predathos‘ methods may be to awaken sculpted monsters to destroy sites of worship for him globally - or whatever the word is for „all over flat Exandria“ 😅 I don’t have high hopes for any part of Exandria, if everything that was ever locked away magically suddenly got out simultaneously. Probably lots of super powerful artifacts to be had, but way worse entities for sure. Inb4 someone triggering a doomsday device that just nukes all of Exandria 😮 Edit: I sincerely hope to get a glimpse of team Ashton soon. Waiting weeks for their side things would be cruel!
Thx for the video. I think Frida hinted that they are infected. They where all wow how alive Chetney is in his wolf form. And they also said something about never have felt so alive as that morning after the fight...
Remember way back when Chet first entered the group, and he said, "I COULD BE A CIMINAL!" and everybody laughed, thinking he was joking? Yeah, well, I'm starting to see how true that really is... There has to be a good reason why he is avoiding the Glass Blades.
Just finished this episode, and while I wonder what is happening with Team Ashton, I'm really enjoying Deanna and FRIDA along with the rest of team Chet. Still can't believe that the power of friendship was provoked and it worked, it has transcended anime.
In some rules warforged can't contract lycanthropy. Because they were considered constructs and also I believe they are immune to disease and in 5e lycanthropy is a disease
I wonder if the elves who came to Uthodurn and brought Umadara's statue knew what it was, yet over the span of nearing 300 years since Molaesmyr's destruction that knowledge was lost/forgotten and people just assumed it was a regular old statue.
I dont think Vax showed up to the first attack, I think they just wanted whoever might have an interest in Keyleths safety to know it could have ended much worse for her. Specifically our favorite sad boy champion. I forget who of the cast said it but Vax and Keyleths love is not a secret and i think they decided to exploit it. Great job on these videos btw, I just started watching after finding your Vox Machina reactions.
I always had the impression that arcane magic came from the ley lines or some other source in the universe, or internal to the caster, and only divine magic came from the gods; so even if the gods are destroyed, arcane magic should remain (and probably stabilize once Ludinus stops effing with the ley lines). Am I mistaken on this? Everyone seems to think all magic is going to go away, except maybe druid magic. I don't think Matt would allow that to happen, but can you imagine if druids were the only ones with magic? If you thought they were OP before....
Do you think the con save is Frida’s version of stress compared to FCG? Apart from that, it seemed like Frida might be made up of some human parts and that’s why they got a con save. Maybe they won’t turn into a werewolf, but may loose control like a werewolf
