- 1999 Mitsubishi Carisma GDi, I drive and review this 1.8 GDi model and find out if being dull is its only accolade, or does it have numerous qualities, making it worthy of being a modern retro run about.

My dad, used to have one, a 99 saloon variation(learnt to drive in it at 14) . I sometimes check auto trader if one is for sale as I wouldn't mind one as my first car 😎, very good video 👍🏻
Had a Nissan Almera from this period & loved it.
Comfortable & smooth, unappreciated great little car.
Hated the Almera 😂
My workplace had a bland LX 1.8 GDI for a short while…almost identical to the video.
Didn’t know what it was at the time.
But once I had driven it down the motorway a few times, I certainly knew the advantage of GDI by then….way more economical than other petrol 1.8 engines (I had a 1.8 Astra at the time).
Very very dull but easy to drive. Didn’t think it was especially quick tbh….just “average”.
Nearly bought one pre reg with a big discount in 1995
Good review. Decent old survivor, pleasant if anonymous machine which should last for many more years under sympathetic ownership. I would be happy to use it regularly.
Had one the same colour as a taxi for years, Renault diesel engine. I loved it, totally reliable and a very comfortable car to spend the day in
My former landlady from South Africa had one they are very reliable she offered me it for £500 but i could not get insured sadly as it was a powerful car , I did own its baby brother a 2007 Colt 1.1 and they are surprisingly very fast 0-60 in 10 seconds and 120mph top speed if you had a long enough motorway like M40 to Oxford lol
Drove one back in the day as I really liked the look of it - I don't like to stand out. Found the seats really uncomfortable, weirdly short in the leg, them not me 😂
has the same dash as my old 2003 Subaru Impreza
Bought one years ago as a stopgap. Not a car you could ever love but had to respect the reliability
One of my colleagues at work had one back in the 90’s. It was a throughly competent, utterly forgettable car 😂 Used to think Mitsubishi gave it that name just to attract attention to it - even if it was to ridicule the choice 😂
Marketing guys must have had a chuckle calling it the Carisma.
It's a Volvo S40 with a blander, more boring body :)
different cars different engines but similar chassis i think mitsubishi better
volvo never used mitsubishi's gdi engine
