90s DJ here. Frantically searching crates of vinyls for the next track. Back in my day there was no looping. Pure adrenaline rush. Learning a lot from Alice. Thanks 👍
Great lesson, I remember playing a gig one night and the venue owner asked me to let another DJ on the decks to play a few tracks, told me he was a great DJ. When he got on the decks he spent so much time looking for a track that he wasn't paying attention to the track playing coming to the end. I tried to explain to him but he told me he knew what he was doing and didn't need any help. I went to the bar for a drink and waited for the silence. And when the silence came, OMG was he embarrassed. For any young DJ's out there, watch these lessons and learn. Don't be a know it all and don't be cocky, the last thing you want is to be standing there in the silence looking like headless chicken.
@Digital MarketiiingNot too far off, he was a really close friend of the owner. Every weekend he would spend hours talking into the owners ear. Far too arrogant and certainly far too cocky for a guy with no experience. All he had to do was listen and learn and he would prob been playing fine. Could have even got a few gigs out of it but he blew his chance.
I wouldn't have even bothered letting him know, I've done that and been blamed that I "distracted" him. Sometimes these cocky DJs gotta learn the hard way.
hey, I'm having a lot of fun watching these tutorials, which is pretty rare. Don't get me wrong- I love any good quality free tutorial ... but making them fun to watch as well as informative really takes this series to the next level.
Thank you sm for this !! A few ideas for the next video: 1) How to use effects 2) More in-depth on EQ's 3) Scratching basics 4) Mixing two different genres (maybe rap into dubstep or house?) 5) More on using the loop button to transition or just to add to songs 6) Out of curiosity- How do you go about making a mix? Do you practice what you will play before or just have a list of songs that you like and know well enough to choose from and freestyle from that?
Audiotistic 2019 was when you were vibing out to your set and forgot to mix in the next track and i swear thats one of my favorite festival memories ☺️
How have I spent 10 years listening to great DJ's and not made Alison Wonderland one of my influences? This changes now. She is legendary. A fun DJ to watch perform, and so glad to see she's making these tutorial videos!
First of all, you are such a sweetheart for taking your time out to share your gift. You are one of my favorite artists! Providing that I would have been well enough, I was going to be able to see you at Redrock. My Daughter lives in Denver and like me, a big fan. You remind me of her, she is also a musician, but you are so much alike in the fact that you are so down to earth and just play your music being your authentic selves. If I'm better next year, I'll be there to see you!! Love ya Allison ❤
I've paid for a couple of lessons... feel like I just got more from the 2 videos i just watched. Excited and motivated to learn more. Good post. Thank you ❤
this video series is something I’ve always wanted 😭 can you talk about using the effects on the Mixer? And how / when to use them? & maybe cover mixing top 40 songs. Rap music is hard for me to mix cause they don’t stop rapping 😅 lol! Thanks for being awesome. We all luv u🖤 Or discuss going B2B. Idk i have so many questions. Ily
I have listened to your music since you started Do not stop these videos Do not give up Keep them coming regular. Like every two weeks but don’t stop. That’s what keeps me coming back at least for me. It’s so good when someone as famous as you makes a video and keeps them coming. Awesome👍
I found all the answers i was looking for in your videos, djying was just like i’ve expected , now i’m sure i can play in front of a crowd even that i’ve touched the mixer just couple of times, thank you❤️
You make this look so damn fun. And you always have really hilarious moments in these videos. I'm glad I came here for tutorials! You're fantastic and I can't wait to get started.
Keep it up with the tutoriales please!!! thanks Alison for helping us out!!! we appreciate u taking the time to teach....loving this series...instalike!!
Alison we love your music and your Aussie style. Thanks for these tutorials. We are kind of new DJ’s and music producers and we make TH-cam videos. We have a Traktor DJ controller but it is a little different than the Pioneer CDJs which are expensive. Is there another Pioneer DJ controller you recommend we practice on, or do you think we should just keep using our existing controller and save up to buy the CDJs?
In vinyl mode is thé same thing, maybe you used thé digital mode, is diferent in the part of mixing methods, Check thé tools you have in CDJ and you will enjoy it, is so fun, more fun than controller 😊
You should do a Masterclass. With what you're teaching many would pay for. Including with the classes Armin and Joel teach this would be a great starter for beginners such as myself
This was an amazing intro to DJing that was super easy to understand and follow along with the core concepts without getting lost in the tools. The Windows XP shit in the middle had me in stiches 🤣 ffs garth
Hey thanks for making these tutorials! I literally just got my first DJ controller tonight and just have no idea where to start! lol. I've been producing music in Ableton for almost 2 years now and it's all I care about. But I thought it might be a good idea to start learning how to DJ as well. I definitely want to create my live performance sets of my music with Ableton's arrangement view and do live instrumentation or something. But DJing looks fun as hell. And it seems like an awesome outlet to focus on during times of writers block or just times when you want to step away from production (which isn't often) But anyway, thanks for making these. I now have a place to start with this and your personality also makes this very enjoyable!
100% had a panic at a show where i only had 10 seconds left xD. What made it worse was the stage and table weren't very sturdy so the setups was slightly moving while I was trying to select the next song. No one noticed but I will never forget lmao.
been a fan of yours forever and have always wanted to learn to dj. im finally doing it in iso and somehow learning from you now???? 2020 is crazy. thank you for doing this.
Little advice : while you have that loop and you looking for a new track ,you can play with that loop so your audience are not bored , meaning take that loop and use filter on it or use Effects
Sensacional não é a toa que sou fã desde que vi a apresentação dela na tomorrowland pela primeira vez, olha só o nível de humildade só ela para fazer essas aulas não é todo famoso que mostra, gostei.
Wonderful tutorials!! Explained really well and love your personality! Can you explain when you kill/bring in your highs, mids, and lows when you’re transitioning between tracks? Thanks!!
Cool tutorial, I love it.... Jumping all the way in, so I bought myself 1x numark Cdj , behringer 750 mixer, numark mix track platinum , dixon 4channel recording mixer with record usb. And gonna just have fun DJing in my room, hoping to record something soon to share. Pretty cool setup for a serious noob.
In future episodes can you go over the best way to get music the right way and also a small breakdown of how you organize your music! I’m also having trouble making sure I start my second track at the right time so that by the time it mixes in to be the main track it’s at the exact right point. Any tips on simplifying this? Ty for the thorough breakdowns so far 🥰♥️

For the rap music, I might suggest to have an instrumental version of that song or an edit, i.e. EDM remix or smth :)
NEVDO thank you! You are so right! Appreciate you!
BPM Supreme and other record pools have reworked songs with intros and outros for djs.
@@djmace5871 you are welcome :)

how do you do those big transition effects from the end of the first songs drop to the intro/breakdown of another song??
Same question for me. I feel like I can usually blend, but how about echoing out? How do you know when the right time to echo or transition is
@@sotoisalex I usually echo out on a one count.
