Deer Habitat Plan Shows The Difference Between Early And Pre-Rut Season Stand Locations

  • Deer habitat plan explains the difference between early season stands and rut season stand locations and why you want to hunt them at different times of the year especially in high hunting pressured areas.
    Dates are being reserved now for property visits and consultations on the calendar. December will fill up fast as it does every year. The earlier you have a habitat plan in place, the earlier you can get a jump on making improvements before next year's hunting season.

    Thanks for discussing rut stand placement vs non rut, almost nobody talks about it and it hard to understand if your new to habitat improvements 👍

    Great video, I trap a little and it is interesting to see you use hinge cuts like a trapper uses brush, grass, and dirt to guide an animal to the trap or snare.

    Great video and the plan looks solid. Can always learn from other habitat managers and the tactics they use.

    Great video Randy. Thanks for sharing your thought process on designing this property. It seems that thermals could present challenges during light winds. Did you provide recommendations to mitigate light wind conditions?

    What topographic software or website do you use? I haven’t been able to find one with the same resolution you used in this video.

      OnXmaps. But I use a variety of mapping software depending on how up to date they are for that area.

    Are you ever worried that some of the river stand sites you would hunt with the S wind would push your scent right into the 4 acre plot?

    • @SeeMoreBucks
      @SeeMoreBucks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Since the goal is hunting mature bucks, we're not worried about spooking them in the food plot because they won't be there in daylight feeding during the rut phases in high hunting pressured areas. They'll be scent checking for does along the river bottom. And since it's a red "rut" stand, they're not hunting those until the pre-rut starts in late Oct.

    what is the cost to have a forester come in ?

    • @SeeMoreBucks
      @SeeMoreBucks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The forester in MI I recommend is part of the logging company so that cost comes out of the timber value you'll receive.
