Beauty is like ice cream, everyone has a different favourite ice cream flavour. There is not one ice cream that is fixed to be the tasty one for everyone. Same for beauty. Its so subjective. Its jus the society and industry telling us there would be a fixed pretty and ugly. But its not.

@@pinkaholic09 He really does have a beautifully chiseled face. A lot of the so-called ‘handsome’ men we see nowadays hide behind copious amounts of facial hair, which I think gives them an extremely unfair advantage, considering that beards conceal the entire lower half of a man’s face and enhance their perceived level of masculinity by a large margin. It takes courage and NATURAL good looks to be a clean-shaven man in today’s world, and Dr. Linkov is one such example. Take Jason Kelce for instance; he’s been labelled as one of the hottest men alive, but if you manage to find one of the very few pictures of him without facial hair, he really isn’t one bit special

I really love how well rounded you are and how you push for people to value being beautiful on the inside as well as confidence and self worth. Very true. I also think, regarding what you said about people being so much more than still photos, people look different in motion, dynamically. You can't see the full depth of someone's face and appearance on a flat photo, you can't see projection of the features or the way they move, those things can really change your attractiveness.

@Bunny11344 I know what you mean. When I got married I gradually started focusing on health. Eating well, sleeping enough, exercising, but also mental health. Before, I had an unhealthy preoccupation with my appearance, but now I think i have enough self love to care about myself and my appearance. Both extremes are unhealthy, but a balanced point of view on appearance is healthy.

7:08 He knew, he just expressed he started to feel self-concious and vulnerable, by saying ”what are we even talking about?!”, when he opened about feeling like giving himself a higher number, but that could sometimes change when he saw the look in someone’s eyes when looking at him, and he felt like a low number then.
On one of my dad’s work trips to the U.S. he bought me a pair of Levi’s jeans, and I remember I felt so cool in them when I ran around with them at my Scandinavian school, because no one else at school had jeans like that (they had animated prints from the child’s department at Hennes & Mauritz/H&M). One girl walked up to me and gave me the up and down look, and simply said ”you’re not pretty in your ugly jeans”.
Some months past and I was invited to her birthday party, and as you do as a child, you accept and try to pretend everything is fine even if they never apologized to you. Her mom walked up to me at the party, and said ”my daughter told me about your jeans, what a fun thing to get. She begged me for a pair, but I told her no because they cost too much”. A bit lack of boundaries for someone else’s parent to share that with someone else’s child. Either way, that’s when I understood the girl’s negative words had nothing to do with me at all, she was expressing anger that she saw something she liked but couldn’t have.
Moral of the story, is basically don’t allow others to shift how you feel about yourself! They do it because they are unhappy. People who feel ok do not attack others for their looks or other things out of the blue.

It is what it is, but some people are cruel. I was diagnosed with a form of cancer 7 years ago. People of all walks, white, black, Latino and Asian would look at me and laugh. I usually had on a work uniform. That made me feel so horrible. I completely understood how children and adults feel when bullied about appearance. Through it all I still walk with my head held high. I don't think I look better than anyone. I considered ffs recently but scared. Also when I went through the humiliation from others, I hadn't even started hrt. I still wear men's clothes 4 years after hrt. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Love all of you. Nobody else can be you. What does the heart and spirit look like?

I’ve definitely experienced “pretty privilege“ throughout my life, which I resent because despite being a nurse, having a high IQ, and being a self-taught computer tech in the early 90’s, I’ve never seemed to get the respect I should. It didn’t teach me to work as hard as I really should (as opposed to my skills coming easily/naturally). I’m teaching my daughters who the first one did modeling and the second one is so stunning that I’m afraid to put her in for fear it’ll take off and ruin her, I don’t want either one of them experiencing “pretty privilege“ because I want them to become hard workers ( beyond any natural skills that come easy) without fear of being single. I liked being single, but I’m not at a place I would’ve wished for when I was younger. I think it has everything to do with my ignorance and pretty privileged at such a young age.

    • @NormieNeko
      @NormieNeko หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Any privilege matters whether it's a mental skill, manual skill, nepotism, or beauty. Everyone should use the gifts they are given for their personal advancement and for the well-being of others. Beauty is a gift that everyone praises, and it's as worthy as being intelligent because everyone has a purpose or role to play in this world. Besides, a woman whose beauty is fading later in life can always turn to another skill or privilege they may have ignored when youthful.
I've read personal accounts of older women with faded beauty, and they finally have the chance to be taken seriously now that they embody the crone archetype.
I say that women should take advantage of their looks while, or if, they have them. It won't last, and there's always time to learn new skills later in life. The only problem is accepting when youth and beauty fades and moving on towards focusing on wisdom instead. So many beautiful women struggle with the change whether they already had a skill or not to fall back on.
I'm personally afraid of aging because I have youthful prettiness despite my actual age. My focus has to be directed towards educating my children instead. I don't know what I'll choose to do once they become adults, but I'll probably be a wilted flower by then, so I'll have less interest in the way I'll look.

sometimes attractiveness doesn't start as inner feelings. I was morbidly obese, people would make negative comments all the time, I'd get bullied, I'd try going on dating apps only for people to call me too fat or too ugly. I lost weight and i started getting more attention but now it all seems superficial and it showed me how shallow people can be. I'm asexual, I do not care about other people's looks, but it's very ironic for me to be so focused on mine and be so worried about people's perception of me.

When I'm older, I can see myself wearing makeup. It seems like, at least where I live, if you're a woman and don't wear makeup, people wonder what's wrong. They ask if you're sick, tell us our color doesn't look good. I do get compliments on my skin, but if my lips aren't cherry red, someone sure feels the need to say something. If there's no blush, they're gonna say something. If my eyebrows are natural, they're gonna say something, and as much as I hate putting makeup on, it's easier to do that than listen to someone tell me what's wrong with me

Analyzing somebody's attractiveness from a photo probably only contributes about 50% The rest is derived from presentation and multiple other factors because we don't remain static like a photo
The other thing I've noticed is that people can rank higher in attractiveness over the course of decades
For example I think the actress Kathy Bates rated quite low when she was in her 30s and 40s but now that she's in her 60s or 70s she's much higher on the scale when compared to other women of the same age

This is such a bizarre and unhealthy mindset. You want people to think of themselves as not good looking and be miserable? Isn't there enough insecurity and misery in this world? Let people have some love for themselves.

Being attractive is like 80% of your life.
Being attractive makes you confident in everything you do in your everyday life.
Being attractive lets you meet more people, make more s3x, enjoy and experience life not just .... you know exist which applies for average and below average people.

Youth all by itself makes one very attractive. Everyone will have the beauty of youth, and everyone will lose it at some point. Have a good heart and respect for fellow humans, and it will reflect on your attractiveness, outer as well as inner beauty. A good heart is FREE- it's a matter of choosing wisely what priorities one values. Thank you Dr Gary -another great discussion! 🫶🏽

0:57 one minute in and that guys video is dumb… that’s the only judgment I’ve made. Why does it matter that much. Just take care of yourself, have good hygiene and be well kept, be healthy…. Don’t worry about the things that you can’t control. People need to stop placing so much emphasis on being attractive, it’s poisoning their mind.

It's very strange with the 'how do you rate yourself' - because I never rate myself highly. Others rate me higher.. But, so what if that reflects insecurity - isn't that okay? I'd rather be humble and perhaps playing on the safe side, and maybe a little insecure, than sound big headed. It's confusing that so many apparently rate themselves higher - do people really have such high confidence?! But also - people have different standards.. and I might hold myself to a very high standard. So the definition/rating is always going to be subjective lol

Looks are only part of the attraction: personality is even more important, a good sense of humor, compassion, intelligence are all equally important. I don’t care how good looking a guy is, if he’s a bore, or hates animals, he’s ugly to me and not someone I would want to spend time with.

when he said you were judging me and deciding whether or not he was attractive not me. i was listening to what he was saying and not even paying attention to his looks at all. Not everyone immediately judges someone based off of their looks, others first pay attention to the words coming out of a person’s mouth.

I really don’t think anything is wrong with people viewing themselves as a 10, as long as they don’t think everyone else around them is ugly. It’s a great display of other people’s insecurities when they get triggered by someone rating themselves as a 10. Just cuz they are content with their looks and don’t wanna change anything does NOT mean they are insulting others or think they’re better than everyone else or think they have no flaws! It can just mean they really do think there is nothing they need to change, they love how they look and they feel that way despite how many other people may disagree! As long as it’s not coming from a place of superiority we should applaud and be happy for people’s confidence not offended by it!

`There's so much out there than still images.` I'm gonna take advantage of the fact that it's the internet and I'm anonymous and tell you this: I walked into a drugstore a few months ago, and I saw a pharmacist, a woman. I was blown out by the sexyness and self-confidence she exuded. She had a huge sex-appeal, I couldn't take my eyes away from her for a few instances.
She wasn't doing anything in particular, she wasn't wearing noticeable makeup, and because this is the channel to say it, she had this huge nose on her face. I was simply noticing her appearance in order to see what was the source of that attractiveness. And for sure I'd say it wasn't AT ALL her standard beauty (she didn't have a standard beauty, in case you missed my point). There's so much more than still images.

I think attractiveness changes as you mature. I prefer to view attractiveness in the realm of confidence... and being able to love the skin you are in. We all have our insecurities, but at the end of the day I am content growing old naturally. Eating well and the gym keeps me balanced. Anyone can call someone 'beautiful' but when I feel most beautiful is when my husband tells me.

Ok so hear me out on this mewing thing. I had no idea about this. This is why I love this channel because sometimes it tells me things about myself I didn’t even know. From as far as I can remember I always rested my tongue on the roof of my mouth. It’s just the natural state of where my tongue hits I guess. I have a small tongue I have no idea if this is why I’ve done this all my life but when I found out about this I realized I’ve been mewing all my life and two I tried to lower my tongue and not only does it make a real difference in the look of my face. Specifically my jaw but I saw myself as a completely different looking person. So I don’t know if it’s healthy to do that because I naturally have done all my life but I can say it does make a big difference in your face. Also as much as I tried I can’t hold my tongue down. It’s uncomfortable. My tongue if comfortable touching the roof of my mouth. I would have never learned this about myself if it wasn’t for this channel. I thought everyone tongue did this.

I might think someone is attractive in an initial way, but if I get to know them and they are super unlikable for whatever reasons, they immediately become less attractive to me. On the other hand, kind, funny people always get higher attractiveness marks from me. Personality is HUGE. But I can see why on those initial meetings we all want to make the best possible first impression in terms of appearance.
