    29:08 where you mention, Pat, the Lard Yao women's prison. I thought you might mention one of this prison's more notorious guests but, not to be coy, I think you quite prudently steered well clear of that subject matter! As always, fantastic presentation. Cheers.

      If you're talking about Jit Phumisak, he's not even a bit controversial. His poems are taught in Thai language classes, and Thai liberals see him as a liberal, while socialists see him as a marxist (which is more correct).

    I was looking at the walk one has to endure from Don Mueang Terminal 2 to the train, then to Bang Sue Central before taking the Mrt to Mo Chit. It would be easier to take Airport Bus A2 to Mo Chit, get down then take the Bts to Central Bangkok. I drove from Ayutthiya a few years back to Rangsit, Vibhadi then to Sukhumvit 16. The actual Bangkok and Pathum Thani.. by the way, Deep Red Line.. Hmm..

    • @BangkokPat
      @BangkokPat  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Or just take a taxi in the first place! Some of the interchanges between lines here are simply inconvenient!

    When i arrived there were still elephant jockies prowling nana, now it almost seems unrecognizable except for a few places, but the plus side has always been rail extensiveness (im from Kuala Lumpur and its more sparse and inaccessible in comparison)

No connection to the Green line BTS and the station that doesn't quite drop you into the terminal I think it's still easier to get an A1/A2 bus at BTS Mo Chit, once those get on the expressway you'll be at the terminal in 15 minutes.

You refrain from commenting on the sustainability and benefits/practicality of the Bang Sue station and other outlying mass transit lines that now seem to go to all far flung areas of the sprawling city with seemingly no rhyme or reason. I fear BS station going to turn into yet another white elephant like that of Makkasan station. Hopefully one day trains will permitted to run into Vientiane in Lao and beyond up to Kunming, Beijing and Shanghai but at present it doesnt seem that likely.

    This Red Line seems a bit of a White Elephant (and not an auspicious one). It's a huge rail line that to me appears to connect rather sparsly populated areas, and which also seems duplicative of the northern end of the Sukhumvit Skytrain line. Is this line really necessary...it doesn't even seem to interconnect with the BTS and MRT transit lines.

      It's a commuter line and these places aren't as sparsely populated as you think, ditto the BTS line you speak of. Try getting on in rush hour!

    Hi, if we will be taking a sleeper train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, will we be booking via Bang sue already? Or Hua lamphong?

      Hua Lamphong still. They're talking about moving long distance trains to Bang Sue by December, but as I say, just talk.

    Not sure what to think about all this modern architecture, it's like they are building away all the charm and life and replace it with sterile effectiveness. Like you said where will all the vendors go? Street life is life in Thailand.
