- An adventure in Bangkok's most interesting district from Chong Nonsi to the Chao Phraya River. The most info I've ever put into 2 videos on one area! A 42 minute epic featuring many places hidden from tourists, the many local landmarks, restaurants, mansions, canals, abandoned buildings, and walking tours down the side streets and canals, plus the history of the famous graveyards of Sathorn and Silom. Enjoy!

This man produces beautiful, high-quality informative videos about the history of Bangkok. I rarely see this on TH-cam.!
Yes ! Interesting, exciting, and educational. One of the only such Bangkok vloggers. Most of the rest of Bangkok vloggers are just spitting out repetitive tourist trash ! Thank you 🙏
Thanks for the kind words Hector!
Agreed. If I see another vlogger sitting at a roadside stall and banging on about the noodles, it’ll be too soon.
Unfortunately, a majority of the people like to watch trash vloggers 😂.
I’m always learning something from this channel about Bangkok that wouldn’t be possible as a tourist alone even if I’m there. That’s what I love about Pat’s channel.
Still the best content creator in Thailand. Always learn such interesting details. 🙌🙏🏻
7:19 "...1970's modernist architecture building..." While watching the video clips of this old house, I realized that while the clips were strung together, the surrounding outdoor sounds were one uninterrupted clip. You definitely win awards for editing! It played so well, transitioning from the restaurants with background music, to the old house clips with relaxing outdoor audio. Thoroughly enjoyable.
When I edited that I was going to leave the clips and their own audio but a motorbike passed by very noisily so the clips would have sounded disjointed so I just left one long piece of audio from the first clip which was about a minute.
An amazing and dynamic city, is Bangkok. Thanks Pat for covering it, with such a depth of research and detail.
I loved such a detailed 2-part Chong Nonsi special!! I always stay at Silom area near Chong Nonsi every time i visit Bamgkok. I love this area. Pat's research was thorough, and every second of the video was enjoyable!! Great job again, Pat!
I concur. I thought I knew this area well but I stand corrected. Thank you Pat! I ate at two restaurants you mentioned last May, but I missed the Err restaurant because it didn't pop up in g. maps. 😊
Your videos makes me miss Bangkok all the time. Maybe I should visit again in the next year or two.
I'm headed there in October for one month! I'll say HELLO to Bangkok for you.
@@kevinp8108Me too, the full month of November. Busting to get back, the wife and I adore Thailand.
I can see how much hard work you pun into your content.. shooting, research, editing...keep it up, Pat.
Thanks so much for including our friend, the monitor lizard. Really appreciate it, mate. Love your work!
I always like watching Pat's videos. He puts in a lot of time for preparation. But what I like the most is that no matter the topic he finds the bright side of things. Way to go, Pat!
You are now my michael parkinson of thai vloggers
One more fantastic video. Great production. Definitely the best BKK TH-camr.
Pat, keep up the good work. We have two children adopted from Bangkok and several of these videos have been a great connection back to their birthplace. And the cats aren’t too bad either.
Pat never disappoints. Production quality off the charts!
Your love for cats is admirable,…..good man
Someone's gotta take care of 'em!!
Only 45k subscribers? This man deserves his own tv show! Well researched and put together imo. So much better than the most of the bangkok content out there imo. Keep up the great work and thank you, very interesting and informative. Can't wait for the next one!
Cheers and thanks for the kind words! Really it's because l don't do the generic content that l dont get the big numbers but l do what l love😻
@@BangkokPat you're very welcome Pat. Great to hear you're doing what you love. That's worth more than subscribers numbers imo. All the very best to the you!
Thankfully there are still some beautiful old historical buildings still standing amidst the towering glass and concrete the love of money tells the story, thanks for sharing 🏴❤️x
Hi Pat,
I've lived in Thailand for 40 years. I've never been interested in watching vids about Bangkok as they are always poorly made, not very informative and never tell me anything I don't already know, and in some cases lived thru myself. I lived and worked in the Sathorn Silom Suriwonge area for over 20 years. My apartment was on Maehasak and my office was on Surasak just a stones throw from the Sathorn Surasak intersection. So i was glued to my TV screen for both parts 1 and 2. I remember so much about the years gone by when all those high rise buildings and skytrains weren't there. Your vids are high quality and so well done. Even the historical aspect of your vids is excellent. After spending over 20 years of my life there your research into the history of the area taught me so much I never knew. I'm retired now and living in the North of Thailand in Pai, and your vids really made me homesick and let me remember some good times living in a very exciting city.
I've subcribed to your channel and look forward to your next vid. Keep up the good work. Your really very good at your job.
I'm more or less living in Bangkok since many years, I loved this video a lot. Thank you and keep the good job on!.
After watching a steady diet of "food vids of Thailand" (pun intended), even cemeteries are a breath of fresh air. These are some of the best vids available. Pat makes me want to hop on a plane and see if I can tolerate the heat.
I used to work in Sathorn Nakorn Tower at Chongnonsi 25 years ago, and would often look down and wonder at the House on Sathorn which was in a state of disrepair then, and across to the old cemeteries thinking about the by-gone eras.
Bless you for those videos.
Always loved the 'diamond tower' condo in Chong Nonsi, it's a big weird pyramid, looks like a bit of 80's retro futurism.
So refreshing to see such interesting content and not just touristy garbage that other creators post to get views. I normally go exploring around Bangkok on weekends, so it is nice to know more about the history and other hidden gems to go visit. Thank you!
Thanks Pat. I stayed in Sathorn on my first trip back in 2004, so it was perfect timing to watch this after your Don Muang video. Cheers!
สวัสดีขอบคุณที่คุณ ให้เกียรติมาเที่ยวประเทศ Thailand บ้านฉัน😊❤
ขอขอบคุณและดีใจที่คุณสนุกกับวิดีโอ!!
Thanks for this part two video. Sorry to hear/see the state of the canal park. I thought it was a great way to revitalize the canals. Loved all the info on the cemeteries…interesting stuff. LaaBubon is one of our favourite restaurants. Love Issan food!
Yet another excellent video Pat.. cheers
Brilliant content of Sathorn! I live here and learn a lot from your videos!
Cities such as Bangkok are a collection of villages, thanks Pat😊
The 2 Sathorn videos give a super enjoyable insight into the old and the new. The 4 legged creatures and the ghosts. Thank you for such great entertainment Pat.
Cheers Ray 😎😻
Another fantastic video pat, maybe your best yet 👍👍👍
Thanks staying there soon so fantastic info .
Do a video on Rama III area next! It’s a bit under the radar, but worth a shout! (I am a big fan of yours and I live around there. Would be interesting to see what you make of it!)
Yes you are right, l will do it at some point soon, been looking at the map to see how wider an area l will cover.
Another superb video thanks Pat , your research and presentation is second to none 👍🇹🇭🇹🇭.
Your videos are beyond entertaining, they are so interesting and captivating! Thank you for the effort you put in them, it’s very appreciated.
Pat Great video and fascinating look at local history.🤗
Your knowledge and work is actually priceless! Thank you very much Bangkok Pat!🔝👏🙏💙🇹🇭
Your videos are excellent, love the history and depth of your research. Your 2 videos on the Sathorn area brought back fond memories, seeing my 1980s home at Diamond Tower and (after a 5 year gap in Hong Kong) my 1990s home at Palm Courtt (now Siri Sathorn), as well as the old BNH where my kids were born and the many old houses that used to line Sathorn. Left Bangkok in 1997, for many subsequent foreign assignments, but still return 3 or so times a year (but always stay riverside now).
Surasak was my neighborhood for almost 4 years when I worked in Bangkok. When you featured Laab Ubon, it brought so many memories, including moments of getting wasted lol.. Their food is so authentic and top quality. Thank you for sharing this Pat. Your stories are so in-depth and well-researched.
Love your channel, informative and quite calming too. 😊
Another gem
Love your channel mate, very informative. Especially the history of This wonderful city. Keep up the good work 👍
Great as always. And even an Alain Delon polo!. Fancy :)
Did the Wat Don cemetery with you a few years back . Was a great tour round the area. I think we walked that canal with no name. I remember heaps of cats
Pat, Again a Very Interesting Video with your Clear Historical Comments. 🙏
my old neighborhood-i lived on sathorn soi 17 from 2004-2006 in the muslim neighborhood. we had a call to prayer speaker right outside a bedroom window. the somtam place looked a bit different. we had to drive our car down that tiny soi to get to our parking space next to the muslim cemetery. as for the chinese cemetery i remember overhearing a foreigner call it “thai future park” LOL. brings back a lot of memories.
we paid 7,000 baht a month for a small two story house. it’s still there at least it was in 2011 last i was there
I spent part of my childhood in the Sathon neighborhood. I was born in the St. Louis Hospital, went to preschool at Sang Arun Kindergarten on Sathon 11, then went on to finish 6th grade at Assumption College next door. Sang Arun Kindergarten backs up to the Wat Don Cemetery. While living at the boarding school, we would hear about ghost stories and ghost sightings. The area has changed quite a lot in the 40 years since I left Thailand. Interesting and insightful videos. I remember several mansions you mentioned. And they should knock down the Ghost Tower eyesore. Such a waste!
Hello Pat. I live there now. I rent condo near in a amazing place called Knightbridge Sathorn. Thanks for covering that area. Hope to see you again in BKK soon.
Thanks so much a another masterpiece and deep dive into Krungtheps history
Cheers, that was a marathon video shoot for two videos!!
These Sathorn videos have been really fascinating, an area of BBK I'm less familiar with. Really love the cinematography of those night time shots, so colourful and vibrant. Thanks for all your work Pat. Oh and anyone in BKK right now, I can highly recommend Pats walking tours!
As Always Pat, much appreciate your vid's, so entertaining. Thank You
great memories
I love Bangkok and been in Thailand 5x already, but this almost documentary like infos in this channel is such an eye opener! Love it and thank you for your hardwork, for us to enjoy! 🎉
Love the old hoyses
Gee! A real gem of guide videos! Thanks so much! Very educational! I have passed over these places several times and seen nothing.
As always another super interesting video.
Thanks🙏
Excellence again wrapping Part 1 into 2. Love the music and the deep research taking me to a few spots I wouldn't be caught dead in, yet.❤🙏
Brilliant content Pat 👌🙏
Fantastic video Pat, really really informative, and about an area we love.
I loved the Robot building. 😢
Great two parter Pat. Some beautiful houses along the tour. Thanks for all the hard work bringing it to us. 😊
I LOVED that BUS. It went right to my place. So nice.
Samui now.
Great second part. I am one of those in the camp of leaving the dead to lie where they were buried. It’s a bit nasty to turf them out and sell the land.
Yes, as expected. Another great vlog.
Another great video Pat, I always stay down on the river as I enjoy starting and ending my day in Bangkok on a boat.
Thankou so Pat, a great tour!
Good Bangkok history as always Pat!
Absolutely brilliant Pat. A masterpiece mate. I thoroughly enjoyed it 👍👍
Nice one again here Pat. Thanks for sharing
Another good infomercial Pat will have to visit the Irish pub next trip.
You'll get a warm welcome there Sam, most of those restaurants are not on my radar!
I almost always stay in the Sathorn area of Bangkok when I visit. I really like it and it’s a great centre point for getting to all the surrounding areas of the city.👍
A great area Pat and well worth spreading over 2 vlogs nice one 👌👌
Long segment but very worth it. Excellent job.
Thanks for this video, mate. My wife has an apartment in Sathorn so I've been walking around those places a lot but I've never really known the history of the area or background of most buildings around there. Very interesting, indeed. Definitely deserves a sub!
Great to hear that! Cheers.
Excellent vdos Pat! Great to find out about the history of the various buildings and area.
Thanks!
Cheers Alison, appreciate that very much!
Bangkok Cats with Pat - new name for the channel 😊
another excellent video Pat, actually since i came accross your channel i have been thinking about moving back to thailand and your informative content is making me look at Bangkok. keep up the good work my man 👌💯

Stayed in Chong Nonsi last month, great neighbourhood, keep up the good work sir
Good one Pat. Interesting. Thanks for sharing
Good video series Pat! Entertaining and educational, enjoy seeing those old pictures of Bangkok and the stories behind them.
Awesome episode!
Thanks for the video Pat. Very interesting especially the graveyards I need to try that Irish Pub, I think it is quite new
great video, interesting area
Ruthlessly I would say
Nice one 👍 thanks
Hats off to another meticulously-made video. Seems it's impossible to visit every nook and cranny of this mesmerising and sprawling city.
Very true! This whole Sathon video both parts is well over an hour and it could have been longer!
A great watch , interesting & informative, very well researched and edited 🙏 an interesting area for sure that I’ll explore 😊
Great video again. Love to see them and you research them thoroughly. Greatly appreciated.
Cheers 😻😎
very interesting video of sathorn Bangkok pat...great video and great editing....keep up the great work...legend.
Pat
Killing it again with the great Video.
I’m glad you found that 70s era house and took a look around. It really looked a lot like our house on Sukhumvit built in 1968. Sadly, it is long gone.
I look around them because soon they will be long gone as you say, what will it be replaced by? A couple of modern town houses of good quality I think, as it's Sathon.
Another fascinating look at this area. Thanks.
Great to see you just around the corner at the British Club last week,,, Andrew
Thanks Andrew😻😎
thank you very much for this and all of your videos. I love them all. It's fascinating to see the historic places then and now and get a glimpse of what life is about in the different Sois...and by the way... nice music taste: "Well it goes to St. Louis, down to Missouri, Oklahoma City looks so, so pretty..." ;)
Quality vlog as always from Pat.
