I got some more details to share (new video coming up), but overall I’d still buy Holosun. There’s still value to it. I bought two of the same ones. You can still see the target.

Send it in for warranty. There should be no fogging inside at all. Kinda defeates the purpose of closed emitters.

@@9770Gproblem with closed emitter micro dots is that the screws are on the bottom. So milling can't help. That optic needs a plate to be mounted.

the seal for the emitter is probably cracked letting the moisture in. send it in for repairs or DIY if you know what you’re doing
Should’ve saved a little longer for the Aimpoint.
I can’t think of any Aimpoint products that should be put on a handgun at this point of time.

A ittle fog in it means it didnt work.... water got inside.... I think its the battery compartment that is not sealing.
Your rear sight shifted between the beginning and the end of this short. And a little internal fogging is a big deal. Any fog should be external.

What happens is that the rain landing on the optic has it's means of production seized by the proletariat.
They make an anti fog/anti moisture lens cleaner and protector called “Cat Crap” (yeah I know the name isn’t exactly appealing 😂 but) this stuff works great. I use it on all my optics, lights and my PVS14. Comes in a small container and doesn’t take but a smidge to apply on a lens and then just wipe it off. Also helps with light lenses that get carbon buildup on them. Having that coating on there helps when it’s time to clean the lens and everything just wipes right off. No solvents needed. Plus I think it’s like 5 bucks on Amazon and one small container will last forever
The problem is that the moisture was stuck inside the lens.
Your optic has a leak. You need to send it in for warranty.
I did. They have an excellent warranty program.
My open emitter holosun works in the rain as long as the emitter doesn't fill with water. Then i just flip it sideways quickly to dump it out and its back. I am going to move to a closed emitter eventually, but it works well enough.
Excellent visualization. With an open emitter after the first shot, the recoil tends to clear the water from the emitter. The problem is you have to justify the first shot if you are using for self-defense purposes. The other method is what you just described.
At the end of the just buy what makes you happy and feel cool. I buy stuff that I want regardless of what any expert or salesman says. I’m a tradesmen and I know a thing or two about tools. The difference between quality valuable tools that make you money and the shit tools that just make you lose your patience and money. But you won’t understand each tool until you actually start using your tools and breaking them.
I work hard for my money so I don’t waste it on cheap tools anymore.

I have a 509T and I have taken a shower in full kit for about an hour with no issue. If you are fogging you need to check and see if you cracked it or something.

Either that or, the most likely case, the seal around one of the lenses was faulty (and the gas got out as a consequence).

Nitrogen filled optics don't fog up, the seal on that thing must be fucked. Spotty QC is a recurring issue with cheaper products.

Uhhhhh, yeah no, closed emitters are for mud not rain, personally filled an rmr emitter with water and it worked fine, closed emitters with rain give you two walls of light bending water droplets to distort your view, open emitter only has one of those, mud on the other hand will stop a dot so if mud is common for you then closed emitter all the way, as it’s easier to wipe glass then to wipe the emitter, that’s literally the difference

@@yusriyahbagheri8843 I said its 2x the raid droplets that can interfere with your view vs the one main lense on an open emitter red dot, never said they're useless, If you want a "rain proof" red dot you'd need, windshield wipers, hydrophobic glass, or something like the holosun AEMS with two clear flip up covers that can be disengaged when the rain/water clears

@@ryantogo8359 I actually don’t want to test it out. Since it’s brand new and in it’s packaging, it might lose its resell value if I go out and test it out. I can’t risk it since my red dots are for duty carry.
@@crimbullet if you got a replacement, that means you can get another. How would getting it wet hurt resale value? It's not going to rust and if anything gets hurt, it can get replaced for free. If it's for duty you absolutely should test it since this one failed.

Just because a particular agency doesn't use something doesn't mean it's not ideal. There's a lot that goes into equipment that gets issued for different agencies and department. Budget as well as contracts ect. If they don't issue red dots on their pistols (idk if they do) it wouldn't even be something they would have considered.
But I firmly stand by what I said. A real duty holster should protect the optic from the elements. 100%
And irons should absolutely be cowitnessed. If you can't co-witness irons with a setup, that setup needs to be ditched. I would rather run just irons versus a Red Dot with no backup irons.
But BOTH are ideal. And active retention REGARDLESS.
Ok. I see what you’re are saying now. When you consider RDS, it makes sense. I agree about the holster covering the RDS. That’s why I don’t use this particular holster anymore. I’ve transitioned to the Safariland 6360 RDS Level 3 with the optic enclosure. As for the optic, it’s no longer in use since I could not co-witness.
